The holes in the door were too small for what I assume are the standard sizes for modern locking door knobs and deadbolts.

It took a while to make sure that I would be drilling larger holes than what were already in the door, but actually all worked out...for the most part.

I am glad it worked out.

I was able to drill larger holes in all the same spots where the existing smaller holes were, so that was good.

The only problem is that the deadbolt hole in the door jam is slightly farther back than this new deadbolt should have, so you have to really push the door closed for it to latch, but it does latch and lock.  And both my parents tried it and were able to lock both locks.  Whew!

The set came with four keys, so my parents have two, I now have one, and my sister will get the other.

It is a shame that you can’t “discuss” the gun violence in this country without others starting to scream that you are turning this into a political argument.

It has nothing to do with my politics, I just want people to stop killing their fellow citizens.

But, at the same time, I can not believe that President Trump can stand there in front of the press (and the nation) and say that hatred has no place in this country.  Seriously?

Yes, DR TCB, the wonderful Vivienne Segal created the role of Vera Simpson and introduced "Bewitched" in Pal Joey. She was one of Lorenz Hart's favorite actresses, and she created roles in the Rodgers & Hart shows I Married an Angel, Pal Joey, and the revised version of A Connecticut Yankee, in which she introduced "To Keep My Love Alive."

I knew that she was the same woman who sang “To Keep My Love Alive”, because they play that quite often on Sirius FM, on the Broadway channel.  I just wasn’t sure that she was the original.  Thanks, Elmore.

DR TCB I am very pleased you are enjoying your washer & dryer but a bit surprised you used to be able to smell smoke on your clothes.  Did the laundry service you used to use permit smoking on the premises?

No, they don’t allow smoking in the building, but the woman who took personal care for the washing, the folding, and the sealing in plastic of all my clothes, is a very heavy smoker.  She was so very nice, I didn’t want to complain.

To counter the sad news we had some good news this morning.  We woke up to a text that said
"Genetic testing came back today. Everything is normal.  Looks like a girl."

Or the people who did your laundry were themselves smokers and carried it on them. Either way, I'd find it unacceptable. Which was it, Tom? Or something else?
