Haven't seen that, although I do understand that the Victorians were obsessed with death portraits.

And dead baby portraits in particular. I think I learned about those first.

Photography was expensive back then. A post-mortem photo might be the only photo of your relative.

It was very nice out for my walk this morning. So nice to be under 90F early in the morning.

I first learned about the death photography in the 1973 book Wisconsin Death Trip, which really creeped me out 50 years ago.  Then there's this tasteful new one.

That's it! I didn't buy it, but I browsed a lot of Wisconsin Death Trip in bookstores. That was where I, too, was learning about this.

I made some Sloppy Joes today which I will enjoy today....and probably for the next three days.

I have a rehearsal/meeting tonight at 6 p.m.

Board President sent me a copy of the 2021 Fund Raising Letter for my suggestions.  I only suggested that he give them a thanks for their 2020 support that allowed us to meet our obligations even though we didn't have a season and income from season and individual ticket sales.

My second cousin once (or is it twice?) removed, in Morgantown, West Virginia, has a homemade recipe that's simple but delicious, and its original claim to fame when I was being introduced to it is that the filling holds together better than many Sloppy Joes. I need to take that out and enjoy some.

From DR George:
Quote
The two men ceremonially unfolded the flag, then snapped it fully open for a few moments, then ceremonially refolded the flag and gave it to my mom.  It was VERY moving and touching.

It is, especially when the flag is for your father.

The flag resting on your father's urn is very moving.  We have one from Keith's father's service.

DR George I am sorry I couldn't stay awake long enough last night to be here when you returned.  I am glad the service went well and hope you found it comforting.  Thank you for sharing the photos and details.  Sending more hugs.

And now, I'm going to sleep.  Today is my sister's birthday, so we're all getting together for that.  That'll be good.

Have a good day, all!

Happy birthday to your sister who shares the day with Craig.

I hate to do math on Sundays (or most any other day).

I ordered half a duck for lunch, but probably didn't eat a third of it. If that remaining duck is moving at 5 mph out of track 3 while the duck I ate is sitting comfortably in my belly, what will I have for dinner tonight?

I'm thinking leftover pizza.

Mom is taking a short nap. Then we're doing to the park near the cemetery where Dad is buried. We used to go there when I was a kid. I remember ponds and ducks and all sorts of weeping willow trees, really serene.
