The Domestic Symphony, which I'm very fond of, is coming to an end and I'm eating my Caesar Salad now and then I'll watch a motion picture.

Was it DR Jeanne's hairdresser story?

'Twas, indeed.     I seriously grieve for my old mind.

We all do it occasionally.

Well the Memorial turned out to be less of a gathering of old friends and more of a pitch for money - they want $500,000 to make it happen.

My thought is it will be closed within two years.

And all of the people who have been working with him during the last five years had to take the time to give prepared speeches....and almost every one of them pronounced his last name incorrectly.......

It was bad.  I think I have whiplash from rolling my eyes.  The photo slide show was going when I got there....but it stopped after about a minute.....and then at the end they showed a couple of more minutes of it....DONE.

So that's my opinion of it....which is not important to anyone who was involved.....but they won't see any more of my $$$.  My Monet will stay where it is.

Saturday evening greetings!

DR Ginny, forgot to mention what a hair-raising story you posted yesterday!        :P

Not me, DR Singdaw - I haven’t posted since Wednesday.  But I am worried about whoever it was with the hair-raising story...

Did some work at the piano, cast another performer for the group number that opens November's show, and have answered a LOT of e-mails.

Caesar salad was good and very filling.  But definitely in the 1000-calorie ballpark, all in.

I have been occupied the past three days with a virtual card making event put on by one of my favorite companies.  Taylored Expressions has done Stamp Joy in person for several years, but this year turned it into a model virtual event.  I gave my niece a scholarship as her retirement gift and she and I paid for my sister (niece’s mother) to attend as her birthday present.  The sessions were conducted in a private Facebook group and the 3 of us watched and crafted together on Facebook Messenger.  My photos are too large to post here, but you can see them on my Facebook page.

ACL (Austin City Limits), the huge three-day music fest, is free on YouTube this year, featuring tapes of performances from year's past. It includes the amazing performance by Paul McCartney that I saw a couple of years ago. I may have to look for that tomorrow, if it's not at the same time as Kritzerland.

A salad with 1000 calories?

I'm sure it happens.  But it never occurred to me that anything could be 1,000 calories and not be required  to give up sounding like something healthy.

Two Snickers bars would only set you back 560 calories.  And you could still have a 440 calorie salad if the Snickers didn't satsfy you.

Tonight we saw a Britcom episode in which Patricia Routledge sang. The DH was convinced she was lip-synching. I assured him she was not. He did not know about her singing career.

I believe everyone would like more details about DC Sasha, but so far DR TCB is being circumspect.

The ONLY thing in salad that has real calories is the dressing and if chicken the chicken, but in this Caesar there certainly isn't more than three ounces.  So, even if you use six hundred calories of dressing, you're fine.

I love Scrabble.

Today, my mom won the Scrabble game, but I came in second. :)

I'm not familiar with Phase 10. Does it require a special deck of cards?

Yes.  You can get them at places like Fred Meyer and Walmart, maybe Target, but certainly online.  You need at least two people to play, but I don't recommend any more than six, and even that's pushing it.  It just takes longer with more people.  Three to five is optimal. :)

I was careless with my possessions in the 1970s.  I had letters from Lotte Lenya and Benjamin Britten that have completely vanished.  I think the only collectible item I have today is an original George Gershwin drawing that Leonore Gershwin, Ira's widow, gave me as an opening night gift around 1988.

Ouch!!!

If I think about it hard enough (and I don't really want to), I'll come up with a couple of painful losses myself. Probably not from anything as remarkable as those letters. But I know the feeling.

Now wouldn't that be the topic: "Irreplaceable Collectibles We Have Lost".

No. Let's not go there.

I had several boxes stolen from my garage and three of them were filled with cast album CDs. :'(

I have a letter from Mr. Sondheim and a letter from Ned Rorem and a letter from Lukas Foss, but that's the extent of it.

I got a Sondheim letter that BK put up as an Indiegogo campaign perk!

And after another Indiegogo campaign ended, I was able to purchase the four alternate original cover ideas for Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones' Colette Collage, and one of the four that I now have was actually used for BK's reissue! :D
