That sounds like a great method, DR Jrand70.

DR Jeanne, I have no patience with these people who are getting stir-crazy about Covid-19 restrictions.  Tell them to watch The Diry of Anne Frank; if two families and a single man tried could for two years in an attic without knoweing when their situation would even end, these Covid restrictions should be a piece of cake.

Good point. I understand the frustration of not being able to get out more, but most of these people do not have a situation like DRs Jane or Ginny. In most cases they just don't want to deviate from what they're used to. I see little sense of sacrifice for the common good.

Speaking of Covid quarantines, New York's Ship of Fools aka Young Republicans wanted to throw a party.  They could not lease a space in Manhattan so they rented a space in New Jersey, threw their shindig, and now all hell has broken loose. The DUI nincompoop Matt Gaetz was one of the attendees/ I hope they all catch it.

These huge parties really get me. I'm all for big fines.

We had our church zoom party. I didn't realize there was a prize for the gingerbread houses. I won a $50 Visa gift card. Nice.

Congratulations!

And on to other amusing news. Malaria Trump is supposedly writing a memoir.  Twitter users suggested plenty of titles for her. My favorite suggestion was White Pride & Prejudice.

My suggestion would be Cat House to White House.

Well, someone is writing her memoir. Of course it'll get published--there's a market for it. And the Trumps need the money.

Whew!  I feel like I've accomplished a week's worth of chores just since getting up this morning.

I wish I could say that. My chores are punctuated with long breaks.

Watching the opening of Alvin Ailey's new season, which is entirely online. Revelations is such an engaging piece. Seeing it reimagined for the covid era is different. Still effective, but not as powerful as watching it live.

We did have a kid in the party with his Tree Rex shirt on.

I know a lot of people who still go on vacation.  Most of my friends see their grandchildren if they are local but won't fly to see them.  At this point even if Bryan was local we would likely stay away from him.

I have a dumb question.

Do choreographers have a way of writing down dances?

Yes, DR Laura, and its called Labanotation.
https://www.britannica.com/art/labanotation

I see that several of you have answered DR Laura's question.

Now, my question: I took a Movement for the Stage class at UCLA in the late 1960s from a female Dr Laban, who I thought was the creator of Labanotation. Rudolf Laban's wife, perhaps? The class was all about movement, not notation.

In my experience, most choreographers do not use any system of notation. It's all based on memory.

Saturday afternoon greetings!

The good news: 2020’s first batch of caramel corn is about to come out of the oven and it smells delicious  :D

The bad news:  our microwave died  >:(

Does this mean there will be a new microwave oven under your Christmas tree?

I used to be a big pasta fan. Several years ago I felt I had to give it up due to my allergies (wheat, tomato). Then Covid hit and I needed more dishes that were quick and easy to prepare at home. I got into gluten-free pasta in a big way and was pleasantly surprised. All of the GF pasta I've tried has been good. A couple of them are a little heavy, but still not bad. I use a minimum of tomato sauce. I'd like to find one or two alternate sauces. I've tried a couple things, but they weren't keepers. I'll keep looking.

I like to make chicken and noodles.......and some days spaghetti.

My favorite pasta dishes are the ones I order at restaurants and would never attempt at home.....

I've been watching THE MARVELOUS MRS MAISEL. I was lukewarm to it at first and I have to say that the numerous historical inaccuracies take me right out of the story, but parts of it are quite good. I'll continue with it this evening.

I don't know if people can see this since I'm copying the link from Facebook. But here's a detail of the No Room in the Gingerbread Inn house.

For Christmas Eve this year, I plan on making Ina Garten's shrimp scampi recipe tossed with linguine. It's a relatively easy-looking recipe and yet, it just looks so good. I can't have a lot of pasta because of my diabetes, but I do love it. Maybe if I keep it to a minimum ...
