Topic of the Day: my favorite was the ChocoTaco. I also really liked fudge bars, or some banana flavored thing that I don't remember what it specifically was...just that it was banana flavored.

Yesterday, I could barely keep my eyes open. Around 6:00, I thought I was getting sick, and around 8:30 I turned out the lights and went to bed. I had a weird night of dreams but I slept pretty soundly.

I had a long dream in which I was in London with DR Ginny and Richard for the opening of a show starring my dear friend Annalene Beechey. I ran off to check out London, and then had a horrible time getting back.

In another I was shopping in a store like the late great Patelson's Music Store on West 56th Street, as they were closing it up for good.

In the last, I was working on a film and Robert Wagner and some blond actress were playing in the snow with Santa hats and singing "White Christmas" to Bing Crosby's track.

I accomplished nothing over the weekend, so I've got work on Oh, Boy! and a couple of bills to pay today.

The man my mother's sister Ruth married was the man she was dating before WW2. He had been a Japanese prisoner of war and survived the Bataan Death March. By the time he was freed and returned to Ohio, he was a physical and mental mess. In retrospect I honestly think she should have never married him because of his problems. If he were alive today, he would most likely be an ardent Trump supporter, as his one living daughter is.

I think to the rest of my mother's siblings he was considered "odd," but my perspective is that he was truly deranged. He read and passed out anti-semitic literature like "FDR and the Jews Ruin America" and my parents quietly bundled up the crap he passed out and threw it away.

I grew up, and went to grade school, in a very white, very Christian part of Middletown, OH. I think there were no more than 5-10 jewish kids who went to school with me, and there were probably less Catholics since they were all in parochial schools. I remember, sometime around the third grade, finding it sad that the jewish students had to perform in Christmas programs while no one paid at least a reference to Hanukka.

My mother, to her credit, was one of the parents who opposed an attempted coup when I was in fifth grade to remove from Wilson School its first black teacher, Hattie Holmes, who taught me French and whom I loved. Still do. I never went to school with a black student until I was in junior high school.

The town i grew up in was mostly Italian and Jewish.

The schools all close every September in honor of Ross Hashannah and Yom Kippur

We usually sang "Dreidle, Dreidle, Driedle" at our holiday concerts but I can't remember if there were any other songs in recognition of Hanukkah

There was a specific section of town where they lived. In the mid 1980's when I was selling real estate i was told which blocks were "appropriate" for showing to various clients.
