News broke in our extended family that our niece, Rev. Amy, has been appointed District Superintendent for the Northwest Plains District of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.  While we're very proud of her, we will miss having her family nearby.  She's been pastor at Springboro UMC for the past 5 years, not far from our home.

Congratulations to your DN Amy.

Congratulations, DR Ginny. Where will they be moving to?

Somewhere in northwest Ohio, where she spent 17 years of her career before they moved near here.  They're deciding which school district will be the best fit for their 3 kiddos.  And they have to buy a house, because they've lived in a parsonage for the past 5 years.

May they find the perfect home.

The irony is that they'd purchased a near-perfect home just a couple of years before she was assigned to the church in Springboro and it took a while for it to sell...

I'm up, I'm up - maybe five hours of sleep due to a rough night in Jericho upset tummy. I was in bed by one-thirty, hoping for another good night's sleep. Oh, well.

The recordings and videos are fascinating. I had the Böhm ones, and I'd forgotten that Stratas is on the Boulez but NOT on the Met's. Did she not sing Lulu when they first did it, or was it only Migenes then? I'm shooting at the hip here, and will have to go back and research this.

I grew up on the old Columbia mono ones, which I still think are wonderful. The Wozzeck was a live performance with Mack Harrell and Eileen Farrell, conducted by Mitropoulos. The Lulu was a Vienna production conducted by Herbert Häfner. Are these on CD now? They remain staples on my record shelf and I can't recommend them highly enough for the spirit and atmosphere of the pieces.

Stratas canceled the Met broadcast performance, and Migenes was the cover.

We had our sixth month dermatologist appointment today.  Sadly our doctor was unable to return to the office.  She has had a doctor from Portland filling in for her twice a week, and today was one of his days.  We liked him.

Hopefully she will be able to return before we do.

DR John and DR Druxy if you haven't done so yet, I think it is time you get N95 masks to wear when you go into buildings.

I also recommend these masks.

I was just talking to someone about this.  Let them remove the mandate.  2 things could happen - 1.  nothing. 2. a surge.  I realize it's putting people's lives at risk, but it will also tell us something.  Those who don't want to follow that mandate can keep their masks on for sure.  Let's hope there aren't any "I told ya so's"

I think the Moderna vaccine curse bitchslapped me last night.  I was awake half the night with intense, horrible leg cramps that no drug would alleviate.

DR George are you enjoying World War Z?

I am.  I just found out that it's (kind of?) a sequel to Max Brooks' The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead, which I haven't read...yet. I just downloaded it from OverDrive. :)

The mornings have been much brighter than before. When is the time change?

Saturday night on the 13th, unless you are one of those odd people who wait until they wake up on the 14th.

Madam, I am not an Odd Fellow!  (That was one of my lines when I was in Gypsy back in the 1990s. ;) )
