A TINY BIT OF RESPITE

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a tiny bit of respite, and now it is time for you to post until the tiny cows come home.

Power came on and then went off again. Most unseemly.

I had a pretty good night of sleep. I had a long dream about preparing for a Kurt Weill festival. It seemed to be taking place in Manhattan, Berlin, and London. I was preparing food, and there wasa performance space with a band of piano, bass, drums, violin, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone. Someone asked about inviting Donald Trump and I refused, saying he represented everything that sent Weill to London and then the US in 1932.

That's the title of my next memoir:  A Sherpa with a Sharpie.

The compelling tale of an organizer with OCD.

Frederick Ashton's overhaul of the 18th century ballet La fille mal gardée has to be the sunniest and most charming ballet ever, and it's become my current obsession. In Ashton's version, the Widow Simone - a mother forcing her daughter to marry the idiot son of a wealthy farmer - is played by a man in drag, and Ashton gives her this wonderful clog dance in Act Two:

If I tried that clog dance, I'd fall flat on my face. Compression stockings or no.

We had a warm night here, following our 80-degree day. It rained a bit last night, then cooled down to 57 and I slept with the windows open. No breeze, but the air was nice and felt great.

I had a dream last night in which I was assisting DR Jrand70 to assemble and install a wireless network. Where we were, I can't say.

Although I have never met DR Jrand70 in person, I have observed him in videos, so I did not find being with him in any way alarming.

Power is still out. Going on 12 hours minus the half-hour respite. Can’t work. Will have to throw everything in fridges out. See what I can salvage from the freezers.
