I really don't know what would be the best I've had, or even what my favorite is. I like many kinds of Italian food, and have had wonderful meals of it - here, there, everywhere. A few standouts, both high and low, would be:
My beloved Two Guys From Italy on Yucca at Las Palmas, probably my favorite "neighborhood" jernt of all time - for pizza, lasagna, the usual stuff. Always a comfortable place, always delicious.
A nice Italian restaurant on South St. in Philadelphia, the name of which I probably have no way of determining now, sorry to say, as this was in the late 1980s. (But I should try to figure it out. Right? Depends on how many there are, or were, within a certain range of blocks.)
I think in NYC I've only ever eaten a full Italian meal at John's on East 12th Street in the East Village. I remember the tiramisu but not so much whatever I ate before that.
As far as pizza goes, there have been too many good ones across the country to try to name.
