SLOW DOWN
« on: July 07, 2005, 11:59:32 PM »

Well, you've read the notes, you haven't rushed through the notes, you've slowed down and savored the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they've slowed down to, so who the HELL knows when they'll get here?

CDs: A triple André Kostelanetz Cd I bought today for a whole $10.
DVD:  Last night's viewing was "The Love Letter" for which I did not care for much at all.
Mr Kostelanetz' orchestra is now playing "Try To Remember".
It's mid winter here and way too cold for Frappe.

I,too, am listening to "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes", the new cd by Jason Robert Brown. I heard him perform it live at a small club in New York last week, and I loved it. Just to watch him play the piano is an incredible experience. My favorites are "I Could Be In Love With Someone Like You" and "Getting Out". We chatted afterwards-he and his wife have bought a house in Silverlake and are expecting a baby girl.

Bruce, the Hollywood Bowl grounds usually open 2 hours prior to the performance.

You are so lucky. Everybody wants to be, I mean SEE, Sondheim!

Very messy, that.

Ah...a cold winter evening in the land of Oz, a torrential downpour here on the East Coast of the U.S.

Time to bring out the music and the merlot.

I must sleep now. I stayed up so that I could call my friends in London before they went off to work for the day. I just needed to hear their voices. It boosted our spirits and made us feel somewhat better. So, good-night!

Good morning, all!  I've heard from most of my London friends by now, and I'm hoping the others are on holiday.  Strangely, I had no word from my friend Mr Raines last night so I'm still a bit worried about Charlotte.

Today's another DARLING OF THE DAY session:  I've got several songs as options, and I need to think about Funeral Music in the first act and an Entr'Acte as well.

BK, I agree with you about Sondheim; I'm fond of the man and a I love a lot of his music, but I'm tired of the cult and its insistance that even his second-rate shows are pieces of gold spun by Rumplestiltskin.  Other writers and better shows are getting lost in the shuffle, and I find that sad.  Anyway, have a good time tonight. I know they're playing one of my charts, so I'm curious as to what the other chart was they asked you to borrow.

TOD:
CD:  Demos from DARLING OF THE DAY, BROADWAY FIRST TAKE (1&2), Victor Herbert, SPAMALOT
DVD:  NIGHT IN VENICE (Danish telecast of Strauss operetta)
VCR:  HOLY MATRIMONY with Monty Woolley

Good Morning Larry and Michael.

I'm listening to Elaine Page's weekly program on BBC 2 right now. My listening schedule was upended this week by the Monday holiday.

Don't have anything in the CD player or the VCR or the DVD player.

I must get the house ready for the return of my husband sometime on Monday. Then he goes back out to Long Island to return his car and on Wednesday next (the 13th) I head out to Long Island for rest and relaxation with Anthony.

Nothing in the DVD or VHS machines.

CD:  Julie Andrews sings Alan Jay Lerner.  I really like "Someone On Your Side"-- Does anyone know what it is from?

I'm also listening to parts of DRG's 25th Anniversary album.

I tried posting yesterday, but the server was too slow or something, and I couldn't get on.  It was most traumatic, :'(

Good morning Ben and larry and Michael nd Iris and whoever is else is here now.

Time to stumble through breakfast.

Media Check:

iPod:  DMB's Remember Two Things right now, going to listen to the Seventeen/High Button Shoes recording next.

DVD:  The Best of The Dudley DoRright Show.

VCR:  I taped the Live 8 broadcast on MTV last Saturday, but I understand that their coverage was so bad that I most probably won't save it (or view it, for that matter.)  I'll wait for the inevitable DVD release twenty years from now.

...and I just received a lovely package right here at the office--the PBS American Masters Legends of Broadway collection, featuring Bernstein, Rodgers and the Women of Tin Pan Alley.

Hmmm...I wonder if I could get away with doing some office hours viewing...

I don't know what the hell I did to screw up this post!  One more time!  First of all, good morning, DRs DTM and Kerry!

DRDTM, I love the score to SEVENTEEN, especially "This was just another day," which would be a good song for Mr Guy Haines, and "Reciprocity."
