Well, you've read the notes, you've been through the thick and thin of the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the thick and thin cows come home.

Did Mr Fruc and Jive have fructoes?

Any by coincidence (or not) I am going to see and hear Mr J Webb in concert in September.

Good morning, all!  Yes, indeedy, last night's margarita event was a lovely social gathering to make the Algonquin roundtable look like amateurs!  Reputations were made or destroyed, many ears burned, several butts were kicked around the block, and several worthies were reduced to complete rubble.  I'm sorry to hear TPunk's dinner was not a success.  I enjoyed my dinner immensely, but after two margaritas they could have served me Alpo.  My three good compatriots are some of the best, salt of the earth, and I'm privileged to call them friends.

So, today's another trip to Toyland, where my colleague Mr Murray and I will work on final edits for several numbers.  Yesterday, we did final edits on my favorite Toyland song "Jane, Jane, Jane," "With Downcqast Eye," "The Men," and something else I've forgotten.  Today, we'll hopefully tackle the problems of the Act One Finale, which are close to driving me to drink, and tomorrow I want to look at the various versions we have of "He Won't Be Happy Till He Gets It" in an attempt to get back to the original scoring of 1903.  When I return, I've several hours of DARLING OF THE DAY awaiting me.

TOD:  I'm assuming, Dear Friend BK, you mean British comedies on film?  To be persnickety, I'm starting here:

PLAYS:  The Country Wife
            She Stoops to Conquer
            The School for Scandal
            The Relapse
            Rape Upon Rap
            Engaged
            The Importance of Being Earnest
            Blithe Spirit
            Private Lives
            Entertaining Mr Sloane
            Loot
            What the Butler Saw

FILM:     The Ladykillers
             Kind Hearts & Coronets
             Tom Jones
             Blithe Spirit
             The Belles of St Trinians
             The Mouse That Roared
             Help!
             A Hard Day's Night
             The Knack

I ended up picking up Andy, and we headed out for sushi - which was good - and a movie, "Madagascar", which was good too.  All those references to older movies and TV shows - including "The Twilight Zone" - were very funny, but I could tell they were going over almost everyone else's head in the theatre, since no one else was laughing when I was.  Ah, well...

Um, maybe cause they were all 5! :)

(sorry, couldn't resist).

Good Morning, DR Cillaliz!

Today is very hot, like the thick of Summer, in Tokyo, too, though still in the rainy season.

I’m about to watch un film “The Passion of The Christ” on TV, from 10:00pm.

Favorite British comedy by a mile is "Kind Hearts & Coronets." There are others, particularly from Ealing, that I like, but I think KIND HEARTS is just in a class by itself.

Many thanks to DR Rodzinski for compiling the lists of Sondheim songs from yesterday to see which collective ones got the most picks. I found that very interesting and appreciated his effort in doing that.

There were several that were bubbling just under my Top Ten: "Finishing the Hat," "A Weekend in the Country," "Anyone Can Whistle," "Sunday," "Giants in the Sky," and "Marry Me a Little." And, if we were to compile a list in a month from now, I suspect several of the ones I picked would be gone with other titles substituted. So rich are the pickings of his output that the choices are almost limitless.

Read with a little dismay the mixed review for CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY in VARIETY this morning. The reviewer found the movie began superbly but went off course about halfway through (especially during some flashbacks to Charlie's unhappy childhood) and as the spoiled brats each get his comeuppance, the tone gets more and more sour and less entertaining.

The look of the film was raved about (Tim Burton's films always have superb art direction), but I noticed it hasn't been filmed in Panavision or Super 35.

I have to say that I am REALLY looking forward to HAIRSPRAY tonight. The tour version has gotten rave reviews from both local drama critics in their newspapers, and since I never saw it on Broadway, this will be my first experience with it.

I haven't found it easy going at all. Perhaps having labored on them for the last four weekends, I am getting burned out on the process. All I know is several promising leads led me nowhere but down a blind alley.

DR MATTH - sometimes I find the Sparkling Trivia Question to be frustrating as well.  But don't give up.  There is a lead that will break it open - there always is - I haven't found it this week, but I am still looking.

Even when I am following a lead that goes nowhere - I usually learn something about a show or performer that I didn't know.

DR Sandra, in response to your question a few days ago.  I do like Cherry Coke... as well as Cherry 7UP and shirley temples.  I am in fact a fan of any and all cherry infused beverages.

Welcome TPunk.  Sandra will love you , I'm sure!  I, too, like Shirley Temples and have had to show more than one bartender how to make one (which is shameful that they don't know).

Break a leg vibes and good health vibes to all.

Thanks for the reports on last night's Margarita par-tay.

Congratulations, DR Jose, on your continued employment opportunities.

I spent yesterday with my mother and sister.  They had been to Bloomington, Illinois, to spend the 4th of July with niece Laura.  They brought me several treats from the Beer Nuts Factory Store - yum.  We went shopping together, looked at some model homes, had lunch at The China Cottage, and visited Dorothy Lane Market, where I bought DH & DS some Killer Brownies.  My sister and her husband are on their way home to Michigan today and Mom is probably enjoying her solitude.

The most productive thing I've done this weekend is to finish reading 2 books:

The Forest Lover, by Susan Vreeland, this month's book group book
Lucia, Lucia, by Adrianna Trigiani

Good Morning!

I think...  I feel like I just woke up from a tech week, a couple of 14-16 days in row... Wait?!?!  I guess I did!

;)

For my breakfast/brunch, I had a slice of the Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie that I brought back The Little Pie Company in NYC.  Sooooo good.

Hi Kerry, glad to hear about your mutual love of shirley temples.  I've never had to show a bartender how to make one, but I have had more than one scoff at my request.

But more importantly, there's a Beer Nuts Factory Store? Do they sell broken and mis-matched peanut halves?

Ah... Shirley Temples always remind me of Farrell's Ice Cream Parlors... But once I "grew up", I moved onto their Green Rivers drink.
