Dan (the Man) you didn't say if you read THE KITE RUNNER.

Nope, I haven't read it.  My to-read pile is full enough.  But I would have a hard time believing that it is a better book than Mockingbird.

You know, I have got to see one of these Sugar Gliders in real life. I am just so curious about them.

It is a shame you won't be in Portland when we are then...next time. :)

Why does the caged bird sing?

Ms. Jeanine Tesori is in the office today correcting orchestra books for CAROLINE, OR CHANGE before they go to print. She's playing the cast recording at top volume in the conference room while she reads through the books and I love it! This tiny little Italian woman wrote that incredibly ethnic score. She kicks some boo-tay.

DR Jason, that's so cool.  I'm glad that Caroline or Change is going to be available soon, the score really grew on me after I saw the show in February.  Best wishes for corrected orchestra parts!!

For the TOD - I actually owned an iguana for about 2 /12 years.  It's name was Kyle.  My ex had an ignana named Fusion and we thought he needed a pal.  Kyle was never quite the friendly iguana that Fusion was.  I finally gave Kyle away as I was never home to give him the attention he needed.

Names?  Were we supposed to give out names of our exotic/non-exotic pets?

Eskimo Spitz -- Dinky-Boo
Cocker Spaniel -- Toby
Cat #1 -- Punkin
Cat #2 -- Dickens
Cat #3 -- Miss Vickie (aka Vickie Lester, aka Victoria Lee)

The chameleon and assorted goldfish & guppies, though fondly remembered, remain nameless.

Back from lunch 30 minutes ago.

The meat loaf was particularly juicy and tasty today.  The roasted potatoes were tender, and the salad was crisp, light and pleasing to the palate.

I enjoyed After the Ball more than I expected. A most enjoyable listen. I put on Guy's album while doing some work. But will put on in the car cd player on my hour drive to the airport. Full attention shall be given

Watched some more MURDER SHE WROTE episodes from the Season 1 DVD set. One featured James Coco as a murder victim. Oh, how I miss him; he was such an entertaining actor.

And I also watched the first hour of NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN. It lacks the slickness and big budget of the "official" James Bond films, but it's an OK remake of THUNDERBALL.

The transfer is only mediocre. SOme of the color has faded, and there are age spots on the transfer. The sound lacks bass even though it is Dolby Surround.

One of my favorite films is "Only When I Laugh" with Marsha Mason, Kristy McNichol, the late Jimmy Coco and the wonderful, dearly departed, Joan Hackett.

Both Coco and Hackett merited Oscars for this film.

I wonder whatever happened to Guy and Ralna...I'll bet I was the only kid in 5th grade who purposely watched The Lawrence Welk Show.

I have to agree with DR Michael about "After The Ball" - to be honest I purchased it in support of bk's new label and such and to add to my CD Cast Recording collection - BUT I was pleasently surprised at the content of this show, how witty it is and how well it's presented on this CD.  Always trust bk to record only the finest shows out there.  But then there was "Bed and Sofa".... :)

I know that Guy and Ralna are now divorced, but I assume they're both still performing. The local PBS station here shows reruns of THE LAWRENCE WELK SHOW each Saturday, and these rebroadcasts are hosted by a former Welk almunus or alumni. Many still look the same albeit a little older, as we all do!

In a little bit, I've got to get off the internet and get ready for some friends who are stopping by here for a drink. I also was given a new CD cabinet by my friend Jeff who has no room for it in his new place, and as I'm spilling over with CDs, it'll fill up quickly, but I have to decide what is going to go in it.

I just realized today that the Rhino label issue of the movie soundtrack of GIGI has Leslie Caron's vocals (with piano accompaniment) that were not used in the film. (Betty Wand dubbed her vocals.) I don't have the CD, but I listened to the excerpts on Amazon today, and it's crystal clear why Caron's voice was replaced by Wand's. Having two talk-singers (Jourdan being the other) would be one too many in a musical by Lerner and Loewe.

Well, my "Dilbert Day" prophecy has been fulfilled, but soon I get to leave, grab a quick dinner, and spend the evening with my book group friends, discussing Susan Vreeland's The Forest Lover.

On the book list I posted earlier, DR comments (so far, more are welcome) are very informative and quite interesting for reasons that I may be able to explain someday  :-X

He was so funny on The Muppet Show (as were most guests)...the first season of which will be released on DVD next month!! ;D
