Also a cantaloupe filled with cottage cheese was always a good time at a diner.

We often had that for lunch at home during the hot summer momths..
Maryland has wonderful cantaloupe from roadside stands, incredibly sweet when ripe.

The dog on the left is Willow, who we had for about a year and a half.

Aww, sweet photo.

We had to give her up about 7 years ago when the house we were renting was sold out from under us without any notice and the DH lost his job, all within the same terrible week.

Someone posted this on a theater chat board today.

DR Jane, was this a corn on the cob night?

Now is the season for Maryland Silver Queen corn.
The kernels are white…sweet and crunchy.
Delicious when grilled in their husks on the barbecue.

My mom layered the jello in a huge brandy snifter, then leaned it on its side to chill in the refrigerator.

They were quite artistic, with each layer slanted.

My mom must’ve read the same Jello magazine article!

I loved when mom made the giant snifter of slanted rainbow Jello.

Mrs Rodzinski made a delicious salad today using the fresh-caught local salmon we were gifted, plus lettuce, scallions, feta, fresh corn, a little maple syrup, olive oil… so nice we had it twice.

I’ve decided I’m going to make a rainbow Jello soon. I don’t have a giant snifter though.

Seven pages so far, but really maybe eight with all the additions I made earlier. two more pages to page 200 and I think that starts a new chapter. I'll definitely do those tonight  and maybe a couple more beyond that.

The gravy comes out of the cow's mouth, so it's like it is vomiting on the ground.

Now that’s appetizing!

Made a modified Greek potato salad tonight. I didn’t have kalamata olives, so I used celery.

The narrator’s observations are excellent. He sketches a character in just a few well-chosen words that really conjure a wealth of images. And everyone smokes. Definitely of its time in the early’70s.
