Was I ranting?  Part of the problem, as I see it, is the fact that all these "me" generation youngsters are now parents, and by gum and by golly and buy bonds if they aren't instilling in their children those values but magnified 1000 fold.

See what ranting gets you?  Page three, that's what ranting gets you.  Well, I'm not going to loose any sleep over it.

May I ask a question:  Has the Internet turned a generation into the biggest bunch of grammar and spelling-challenged people in history?

In a word:  yes. :P <raspberries> to them all!

Loosing sleep is not worth it!  Just remember its not just grammer and speling that have suferred.

I haven't started on the Trivia Question....yet!  Whew!

DRJOSE thanks for the BUS STOP report, and I think you are right about casting.  I remember many years ago, before DRJOEY was born, that Miss Jayne Mansfield was on the Jack Paar show talking about doing a production of the play....and Mr Paar reminded her that there was NO "T" in the first word of the title....which is how she pronounced it!

Where in tarnation IS everyone?

My friend Margo is going to Hawaii tomorrow morning with her three kids (I'm driving them to the airport...I have to be at her house at 6:30 a.m.!).  She doesn't have a computer at her home, so I went on-line and made her seat selections and printed her on-line boarding passes.  Pretty slick. ;) Because of her frequent flyer miles that she's gotten with her credit cards (she even pays her mortgage with it!) she was able to buy FOUR round-trip tickets to Hawaii for a grand total of $85!  TOTAL!  Now that's amazing. ;D

Well, I must now depart for a time.  I have to take a shower and then do some errands.  And I have a package waiting for me at the post office, so I must pick that up!  Have a good day, everyone!

GOod morning. I awoke to another sweltering morning with highs today predicted in the mid-90s. Another good day to stay inside and drink soda and lemonade.

Oof-tah!

Here in Oakland, it might nearly almost get up to F 69 degrees today!

May I ask a question:  Has the Internet turned a generation into the biggest bunch of grammar and spelling-challenged people in history?  I was perusing, oh, yes, I was perusing, and this is the thread title I came upon: The Fools At Paramount Loose More Money.  I ask you.  And it's not just in that thread - "loose" for "lose" has become the most misused (and ridiculously so) word of the last decade.  Do they not teach these things in school anymore?  Or do the majority of students just sit there, too lazy to pay attention to even the most rudimentary uses of words?  I think we know the answer, in this era of generational laziness and feeling of entitlement.  Not everyone, I know, but certainly, at least to these eyes, the majority.

I know that thread.  Have you seen the one about "What is the most awesome combination of..."

One of your favorite people joins in at the third post...and takes it upon himself to pass critical commentary upon each entry...AND makes a fuss about "awesome" being misused.  I'm ready to bitch-slap him/her/it (I mean, really, is there a "Mrs. Boo" and if there is, is this person a beard or an even more effeminate man than Mr. Boo?).

Gosh!  I feel ever so much better just saying that!

DR DANISE you can find consumer ratings on products at www.epinions.com by just typing in the Mower and Model number.  Real people writing about their experiences with products.

See if your model is there.  The self propel feature is controlled by you and isn't in operation when your hands aren't on the mower.

Why yes, DRFRANCOIS - I am familiar with Jerome Robbins - and particularly the extent of what I think is Miss Betty Garrett's "talent."  Liked her best in the movie version of MY SISTER EILEEN - funny, and natural.  Maybe she just didn't get a part that fit her, or I haven't seen it.

No! My mentioning Jerome Robbins was in regard of the "blacklisting" you were referring to when talking about Betty Garrett not getting work (because of her political orientations) which was due -- your words -- to her lack of talent, rather than anything else she could alledge!

You know.... the House Committee on Un-American Activities....

To pretend that she did not get work in the US for so many years because she was talentless (Oh, she was no bathing beauty for sure either!) and NOT because of a certain blacklist is a little... crass in my book!

Not that, at this place and age, Miss Garrett needs "defending" from me at all! :)

I love Is That All There Is, Fever (one of the great recordings of all time), Pass Me By, The Best Is Yet To Come.

I love all of Ella, but am especially fond of The Jerome Kern Songbook.

All of a sudden my iTunes isn't buring CD's.  I thought it was my burner, but I burned a CD off of Windows Media Player and it was fine.  It keeps saying something about the burn speed all of a sudden, so I lowered the speed, we'll see if that works.  That means, though that the process takes longer!

I love Ella's Rodgers and Hart disks as well as  one of the Cole Porter discs, I'll have to check out the Kern collection as I'm not a big fan of Kern, but I do like Ella's interpreations.  As for Peggy Lee and Rosemary Clooney, as I know they exist, I'm not familiar with much of their work.

And here's a show tune reference for DR Elmore3003:

"This can't be love because I feel so well!
"No sobs, no sorrows, no sighs!"

I prefer the reprise:

This must be love for I don't feel so well,

But I was only sympathizing with DRJason!  To quote PAJANA GAME, I'm not at all in love!

ENjoyed FOLLOW THE FLEET this afternoon, but the film was in far worse shape than TOP HAT. Lots of little scratches and debris on the transfer.

No doubt youve been spending far too much time watching Allison Hayes' classic repertoire of films.

Count me in as a Betty Garrett fan!!

I was really surprised on the documentary to FOLLOW THE FLEET that it wasn't mentioned at all that Lucille Ball and Betty Grable make early film appearances in this movie. I would think that would be at least worthy of mention.

I read that Betty Garrett was the first person contacted to replace Judy Garland in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN when Judy was fired from the picture. Seemingly, her agent asked for too much money. (Her MGM contract must have expired.)

I think she would have been excellent in the role.
