I hope this isn't a poll (oh wait, polls are allowed on this site :) ), but  hearing Times Like This again got me thinking - has anyone already done a cabaret act or a CD with all dog-related songs?  Besides Times Like This, there's Hound Dog, How Much Is That Doggie in the Window, Snoopy's songs from the Charlie Brown shows, Who Let the Dogs Out, Puppy Love, something from 101 Dalmations, and there must be others.  Anyone know if this is an idea that's already been done?

The Royal Guardsmen's Snoopy Songs. Harry Nilsson's "Puppy Song" (covered by David Cassidy), "Aint I'm a Dog", "Walking My Cat Named Dog" and I think there was a group Bow Wow Wow.
"Walkin' the Dog", "Dogface Soldier"," Dog Eat Dog" and "Daddy Wouldn't Buy Me a Bow Wow"

To answer your question.  I don't know of one!!

Jackie Wilson's "Doggin' Around". and then there's Annette's "Jo Jo The Dogfaced Boy"

FJL, I don't think it's a revue, but there's a show by the Sherman brothers called DAWGS!  I remember seeing this 15 years ago or so, but I didn't buy it, so I have no idea what it's about.  If you click HERE, there's a copy on eBay.  You can "Buy It Now" for only $79.95 (plus $6 shipping). ;)

Just checked "Bow Wow Wow"  -  English group formed by Sex Pistols Guru Malcom McLaren.  Early 1980's.

I had meant to make a comment on the song "Howl" from TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA; written for the London production, it's on the London cast recording and it's published in the vocal score with the original "Mansion" in the Appendix.  I asked John Guare about this number when I called him in 2002 to congratulate him on the CD release.  He said that the creative team had been worried about the phrase "nothing like a sublet" having no reference outside of Manhattan, hence "Howl."

OIC (internet lingo for Oscar Is Cute.)  Thanks for the history on that, DR Elmore.  Now I need to track down the London recording.

Mom has been delivered to Portland safe and sound.

Dinner has been consumed at Los Arcos with my sister, bro-in-law, neice and her hubby.

Now I am gonna flop down in front of the TV and veg with Big Brother 6 and a couple of those Hammer horror films that I have yet to pop into the DVD player!

Re: Zellweger and Chesney and "annulment."

Anyone remember a time when annulment was only possible if the marriage was NOT consummated?

Has this changed??

Annulments originated as a means for the extremely wealthy to buy their way out of bad marriages.

Half of these "new" musicals in the NYMF are ancient.  The one with Debbie Gravitte, which people on certain chat boards are "raving" about has been around for about seven years or more.  And the NYMF is doing a reading of a "new" musical called Liberty Smith.  I saw a reading of THAT one back in '98 or '99 at the York.  And they act like these shows are hot off the press.  NOT.

Of course, I meant the 2001 BEN-HUR release. Isn't it funny how you can be thinking one thing and your fingers type something entirely different. Weird.

No, I had BEN-HUR on widescreen videotape but never on laserdisc.

More about my BEN-HUR decision later.

While watching the Roman sequence in BEN-HUR tonight with the vivid reds and golds and silvers and seeing the wrinkles in Jack Hawkins' forehead so clearly, I had told myself I did NOT need to buy the new BEN-HUR, that the one I have is good enough looking for the infrequent times it will get played (really do much prefer THE TEN COMMANDMENTS or PLANET OF THE APES if I want a Charlton Heston fix).

I then I read bk and DR td's enthusiasm for the new one. I read DR Michael Shayne's report that this new release was most likely taken from a 70 mm elemnt rather than a reduced 35 mm element as the 2001 version was.

So, I will be ordering it tonight. And I WILL be able to hand this old one over to a friend who's just starting to build his DVD collection.

I'll also get the 1925 BEN-HUR which I wanted anyway.
