TOD:

I don't know what my first ice cream bar was.  I remember loving ice cream sandwiches, but preferred ice cream cones and popsicles.  Loved grape and orange popsicles.  I loved cherry flavored ones, but could seldom find them.

Nowadays, I buy boxes of "Fat Boy" ice cream sandwiches at Sam's Club.  They are delicious, very thick and quite filling.

Isn't there a song in HAIR that goes "Fat Boys are Delicious" - or maybe something close to that?

I think it was "white boys"...

This article popped up in my Google feed this morning:

I do believe that a few of the "The Planet of the Apes" sequels preceded all of the sequels for "The Godfather".

But they never used numbers.

Topic of the Day:  I don't remember what my first (or even earliest) ice cream bar actually was, but I do remember really liking ice cream sandwiches...and I still do!  I would take two, then eat one cookie part of each, and put them together to make my own double-stuffed ice cream sandwich!  Yummy! ;D

I kind of did the opposite of that, licking out most of the ice cream and then eating the sandwich.

Hope to hear from DR Ron Pulliam today.

How very sweet!

My colonoscopy went well.  The Surgical Center was very busy, and I probably had a 40-minute wait until an OR was available for my procedure.  The staff were extremely engaging and accommodating, and I was out of there by 9:20 a.m. (reported at 6:30 a.m.).  Seven polyps were removed !!!  Still, I was told I don't need another procedure for three years.

I'm glad it went well.  Seven, wow!

EXCELLENT VIBES FOR YOUR BIOPSY RESULTS!

And for some reason, I began to watch "Ordinary People", a film I had admired in the theater when it was first released.

Amazingly, the film offered much more resonance for me than my previous viewing.  I was devastated and in tears.

Timothy Hutton was brilliant.  Donald Sutherland was superb (and should have received an Oscar nomination.  Among most of his contemporaries, Sutherland was supremely consistent and engaging but taken for granted, IMO).

Robert Redford's master stroke was casting Mary Tyler Moore as Beth.  It's an amazing performance.  But...why didn't she win the Oscar for which she was so rightfully nominated?  Her character is wholly unsympathetic, that's why.  Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.  Without her performance, those of her co-stars would not have been as powerful or resonant.

I agree.

I was asking about the pictures, because I finally read a newspaper account of the October 19, 1942, traffic stop that started all of the trouble for Frances Farmer.

She was stopped at Pico Blvd. and 14th St.

Imagine my surprise to see that at one corner of that intersection is Woodlawn Cemetery......it's my guess that the policeman were waiting on 14th Street in front of the Cemetery....

I am adding an opening scene to my play so that we get to see the title actress in the beginning.....

So now of course it will be titled Four Arrests of Frances Farmer which has a nice alliterative lilt to it.

I was hoping you would explain.

Ice cream bars - I suppose first would have been a Popsicle.

A popsicle is not ice cream.

I misspoke.  It was Pico Blvd. and 16 St.

16th St. comes to a "T" at Pico because of Woodlawn.

Jrand, we used to drive past that cemetery whenever we'd go visit my grandparents - you know, the what is it fish people. I can remember that we kids were told if we held our breaths from the start of it until we were past it, we'd have good luck. I have never ever since then driven by there without holding my breath. And that's hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of times - and continues to this day.

Just filed a claim with the insurance company, they gave me a list of their approved shops and I chose one that's only a couple of miles from here. They'll call me by end of day tomorrow, and then I'll set up the appointment sometime after Tuesday next week. Don't have any idea how long it will take. I'm not gonna rent a car - I'll just Uber places.

I have no idea how long it will take to do the work, so I have to figure out my schedule for the next few weeks. I think I can actually use Instacart for all the Christmas Eve Do stuff, as I did last year, should it not be ready by then. My plan doesn't cover rental cars so I really don't want to spend that money. I guess for stuff I really need to do, I'll Uber.
