This is your on site reporter. reporting to you live from the Apple store in the lower part of the city.

Just wanted to jump in and tell you that we are having a wonderful time and that cell phones are a great thing when people get lost from the rest of the group!  Trust me on that one.

I know I've eaten more then my share of all kinds of goodies today and am still hungrey!

Don't know if you saw us on the Today show.  I tried Bruce.  I made a sign that said "What is it, Fish? HHW, Hi Bruce!" but I don't think it made it on air.  Sorry.

Gotta continue with the tour!

Laters all!

This is your on the spot reporter , signing off!   :D

Farewell, My Lovely is wonderful.  Mitchum is the quintessential Phillip Marlowe for my money.  I wish his Big Sleep had been better and not set in London.  I blame Michael Winner for that.

File this under "It figures."

Jose led us to a "toy store" in SoHo.  Yep, a kitchen supply store, the Broadway Panhandler.

I'm in there, just looking.

Der Brucer comes in, and in just two minutes finds a toaster exactly like what he wants...and it's on sale!

OK, after a few minutes more I found myself a great kitchen scale with a tare function, but it figures der B would find a toy he wants quicker than I could.

I just read on Playbill.com that the "Angels in America" Opera will be broadcast on PBS!  Did anyone hear or see this?  Is it any good?

I have FAREWELL MY LOVELY on DVD and haven't watched it in ages. I like it very much, too.

It was pretty successful, so why on earth did they decide to do THE BIG SLEEP updated to modern day London? Weird.

I guess the period stuff made the budget just too high.

I watched MY NAME IS EARL when I got in from lunch and the shopping spree. Entertaining but not as funny as the previous two episodes. All the best jokes were put in the previews that have aired incessantly on NBC over the past week.

Then, I continued with MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. I'm about 15 minutes from the end - just at theclimactic train/tunnel sequence.

When that's over with, I'll be watching Disney's CINDERELLA which I did pick up (and pay for) today.

I just remember the bunnies in the movie being very big and very slow....and not very scary.  And wondering what the heck Janet Leigh was doing in that movie!

BTW, Volume 3 of Percy Faith's Columbia Singles (this time from 1958-1967) is due out in a couple of weeks.  Some really great stuff on this one, including Theme From Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Theme from Advise and Consent, and host of Faith originals that Columbia never knew how to market.

I had to laugh reading Ken Mandelbaum's review of ANYTHING GOES. The thing he liked best about the movie was Jeanmaire. I thought she was the movie's weak link.

Just goes to show everyone has an opinion!  :D

Another full night of TV starting at 9 for me. I'll probably be trying to squeeze in CINDERELLA before network telecasts begin for me.

LOST, VERONICA MARS, LAW & ORDER, INVASION. Argh!

I've been going, going, going and soon I will be gone, on my way to LACC.  Only did a portion of the shipping I had to do (will do the rest first thing in the morning), but got a lot done on the LACC front (I tell you, putting stuff on paper is really a reality check - we've got a long way to go, baby), and did all my errands, so that's good.  Tomorrow will be crazy, too, as I have to go pull charts for various things, and that always takes forever.

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?

Other Mitchums I enjoy - the aforementioned Night Of The Hunter of course, Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison, The Sundowners, El Dorado, Thunder Road, and The Big Steal.

Thinking about Mitchum - you realize there's just no one like him today - the guy had it in spades - great face, terrific actor, and personality to spare.  And UNIQUE.

It does seem like a slow news day, but some of us are trying.

For example, I am on my way downstairs to clean my den and then finish MISSION IMPOSSIBLE so I can start CINDERELLA.

Nope no one today like Robert Mitchum - they shouldn't even try.

BTW Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expecting a baby....they say.

October is shaping up to be a wonderfully theatre-filled month around here.  After closing Charley's Aunt this past weekend, DG Ann and I will be seeing Suessical at Seattle Children's Theatre on Saturday afternoon, followed by seeing our very own TCB in My Fair Lady at Tacoma Musical Playhouse that same night.  The following Saturday night we will see a good friend of mine in The Last 5 Years at Leavenworth Summer Theater (even though it's not quite summer...), and two weeks after that we see Sweeney Todd at the 5th Avenue in Seattle.  I love it!
