Is Mr Billy deWolfe in season two of the Doris Day show....or did he show up in Season Three?

He is terrific in BLUE SKIES and PERILS OF PAULINE!!

I'm just back from the funeral of my friend Louis Aborn of Tams-Witmark.  I didn't know the service was to be held at Riverside Memorial until this morning when I called Tams-Witmark to express my sympathies.  It was a beautiful service:  Louis' wife of 59 years spoke, as did his son and daughter.  It was quite beautiful and moving.

My friend Tom Murray sent me a review of DARLING OF THE DAY:
http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/reviews/critics/mmx-gtt21skps

I can't tell if the reviewer liked it or not!

DR MATTH mentioned Sidney Lumet - I think his New York theatre film STAGE STRUCK is going to be among those TCM will be showing this month.  It's not a good film....certainly I don't think it's a very true picture of real theatre....and Susan Strasberg is surprisingly, painfully bad - BUT I have only seen it on my old video and the print used for the VCI release is terrible.  The previews seem to show it in some sort of widescreen process and in much better shape - fingers crossed!

Introducing Christopher Plummer!

Yes, The Onion (founded in li'l ol' Madison, WI by friends of DS Betsy, who went to school there) is hilarious.  My all-time favorite Onion headline:  Tipper Gore jerks arhythmically at inaugural ball.  Betsy has given me Onion compilation books for the holidays on several occasions and they never fail to make me LOL.

How about That Was the Week That Was.  I think I freaked Amanda Green out once when I told her what a crush I had on Phyllis Newman when I was about 5.   ;D

vixdad LOVES The Onion.  He has at least one collection (All the News that Wasn't,  I think its called.)

The link provided by Larry for Darling of the Day ends in an error message. Try this one and you should get there.

You're right, Larry. There are times when he seems to like it but he doesn't say much in the review. It's mostly mush.

Some interesting DVDs up for release this month....several 1950s United Artists' films like CURSE OF THE FACELESS MAN and THE VAMPIRE...and a double feature of Turkish action/thriller/sci-fi's that might be interesting...

Any while you're at that website, poke around and look for the video gallery of Chicago plays.  There are some fun clips there.

TOD - The Capitol Steps.  I went to a benefit performance they gave for a library organization right before the 2001 inauguration and laughed until I cried!

and it says ""Darling of the Day" is so very British, so very classical Broadway style containing such a polished score that one wonders why it has taken 37 years to be remounted "

I think I will go to the Elsinore tonight and see a double feature of the 1920 DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE and the Buster Keaton comedy THE HAUNTED HOUSE.

Woops, that is Wednesday night, not tonight.

I'm getting too much credit.  I'm sure that to Erik Haagensen at the present time I'm the not-so-great.  I hope the show does well and gets a life, but I doubt if I will be involved any further.

I am happy to announce that all packages are shipped and on their way via priority mail with delivery confirmation tags attached.  Whew!  I knew it would be horrid at the post office (I've lucked out the last few times, but that's been in the afternoon and not after a holiday), and the line was out the door, but the wait was only ten minutes or so, so that wasn't too too bad.
