Tara is supposed to show up in THE MIND MACHINE in a shot or two.

That's not one of the ones I watched yesterday. Maybe I'll pop it in today to see if I spy it. Thanks for the info.

TPunk and I have only had one major party in this here dwelling. Maybe 25 people were here for a dual birthday party for myself and the drummer in my band. We have decent space here in the boondocks.

MIDNIGHT LACE is rife with red herrings.  Doris is not photographed to look her youngest and best, but she is dressed beautifully.  And wasn't Rex doing MFL in London when they filmed this?

Anyway...I first saw MIDNIGHT LACE when it was shown on the afternoon program of Miss Frances Farmer.....she always had the latest and best movies IN COLOR!

Sunny and wonderful here in Delaware.  Last night/this morning, when the dogs wanted to be let out, it was clear and starry.

And red herrings are a great substitute for bugle beads!

Watching THE FRENCH LINE on TCM.

Leading men whose message I do NOT get:

Gilbert Roland
Robert Ryan
Joseph Capanella

After seeing Robert Ryan in so many creepy roles, it is hard to imagine him as a leading man.

I am looking forward to SUPERMAN AND THE MOLE MEN today. Never having seen this feature version, I'm going to be looking for any scenes that weren't in the TV two-part version.

Just thinking of the mole men makes me laugh.   ;D

JRand, sounds like a nice anniversary party. How many people were there?

We gave my parents a surprise anniversary party one year.  It was small, just family.  The cake decorated as a basket of flowers was beautiful and delicious.

We haven’t had a party in years.  Over the years we threw a number of large ones for Keith’s co-workers.  The largest of those was 75 people.

The evening before the party Craig had a T-ball game and the morning of the party both boys had a karate competition, obviously leaving me very little time to cook.  I hired two teenage girls in the neighborhood to make a watermelon fruit basket & set up for the party.  Later the girls walked around serving my appetizers which included cheese & bean dip & olive cheese balls along with other goodies guests brought.  I made cheese enchiladas and the rest of the meal was supplemented by the guests.  I can’t remember the dessert.  Oh, I purchased corn bread (best corn bread ever-wish I had the recipe) & broccoli soup from the historic The Spread Eagle Inn-yes that was the name.

Two days later, after I finally finished cleaning & putting the house together, Keith suggested we go for a short walk.  Exhausted as I was off we went and found our Belle, the dog we had before Echo.

Then there were the Mar Mitzvah parties, one for each kid.

Since we lived far from family the parties were basically for the boys and their friends making the parties unique.

I'm up, I'm up - apparently I was TIRED!

Hey, elmore, didn't I have a somewhat amusing Thanksgiving dinner when I was in town doing Unsung Musicals and two other albums - at Marshall Mason's apartment, which I was subletting.

George, thank you for your comments on MY FAIR LADY. The matinee today is our final performance.  I am hoping that my collapsing back can make it through one last show.

During my last tour of duty in Naples, Italy, I hosted several parties at my villa for my staff and their families.  Two Thanksgivings and one 4th of July, to be exact.

I think the most that were ever there at one time was 40 (staff of 22 plus wives and boyfriends, girlfriends and kids).

I had SUCH dreams last night....all rather sentimental and filled with nostalgia.

One was dreaming I was back in high school and I was studying faces...intently.  One of my classmates asked me why I looked at everyone so seriously, and I told him I was trying to memorize faces so I'd never forget them.

I realize that's cliche ... but why now?  I'm not particularly missing those days.

Another dream was of a phone call from someone with whom I haven't corresponded in a few years.  It was brief, 'cause something woke me up.

Still...

DR Michael S -- I think a revival of MFL with Rex Harrison in his 80s is totally understandable given his association with the part.

Hiring someone who looks/acts like a grandfather -- which Sexy Rexy never did, to my knowledge -- is a totally different gamble.

Very overcast here in the City of Studio.  Feels a bit strange that it's almost noon, but that's what happens when you don't wake up until eleven.  I really needed the sleep, though, and I'm already feeling better for it - especially with the twelve hour day ahead of me tomorrow.

After Jed saw the show, he wrote:He didn't seem sick tonight, but otherwise I totally agree. ;) Well, really he just annoyed me.  He wasn't bad, just not right.  And he was too old.  Higgins isn't supposed to be old enough to be her grandfather. ::)

In defense of our Higgins (why am I defending him?), he is only 51 years old.  Our Eliza is 29.  Also, he has suffered for the last year with colon cancer, and the effects of chemo on his system.  Not that this explains his acting talents, or lack of them; but does help to explain his rather gaunt appearance.
