MBarnum, you must have watched Hi Diddle Diddle from your box of 50 musicals. I was just going through the list of movies on mine and looking them up on IMDB. There are a few on there that are "awaiting 5 viewers". But Hi Diddle Diddle sounded like one of the more interesting titles. ROAD SHOW, also with Adolphe Menjou sounds good too.

Bought an LP tonight. Original Cast album from THREE WISHES FOR JAMIE. Had Bert Wheeler of Wheeler and Woolsey fame, so I had to give it a go. Also John Raitt, Charlotte Rae (pre Abner), Royal Dano...

The plot is bad and the songs ain't great. But maybe it'll grow on me.

I'm quite fond of "Three Wishes For Jamie" Did you know the novel upon which it was based was written by Tantrum O'Neal's Paternal Grandaddy?

It was probably too similar to the charm of "Finian's Rainbow" and "Brigadoon" to succeed as a musical.

I'm back from an incredibly long day.  Must now write the notes so I can relax a bit.

I do hope no one is surprised that Ben Brantley loved Sweeney - he worships at the altar of Stephen Sondheim and if someone came onstage and recited Sondheim lyrics whilst gargling Listerine and doing a soft show, he'd love it.

Maybe it's Patti's Tuba playing that is the appeal - it surely can't be the voice!

I know!  But she is so often singing the wrong notes and her accent is all over the place. I wonder if she can read music! LOL.  Thank goodness we're all different.

There are many out there who can't stand Michael Ball and I love his voice. (OK - more than that!).

Come to think of it Mariah Carey sold millions!! Now that is sad! LOL

I like Michael Ball's voice a lot but I don't think I can say that I love it.

I saw Sutton Foster on the way out of the Ahmanson - she definitely broke her wrist, as she's wearing a lovely cast.  Apparently her big number is having to be completely rethought and restaged.  IF the show moves on to NY, one presumes they'll put it back the way it was.

My iPod is on - and is currently playing the End Titles to The Accidental Tourist - for me, that score is one of John Williams' top five, maybe even in the top three.

As for the Topic of the Day, the first real celebrity that I ever met in person was Diane Schuur.  I was going to Western Washinton University and in the jazz choir.  She lived in Renton, Washington at the time and the director invited her to come up to Bellingham to sing with the jazz band.  I and this other jazz choir member Todd (who was also in the jazz band) drove down to Renton to pick her up and bring her to Bellingham.  We went into her apartment and I got to touch her Grammy! ;) She only performed with the jazz band, so I didn't get to perform with her.  Todd did, though.  He played the trombone.

I'd like to hear another album of Broadway material from Mr Warlow.  It's been a long time.
A new non pop album from David Campbell would be good too.

Probably the most significant famous person meeting that I've had has been with our very own BK!  (and I'm not just saying this).  I've been a fan ever since I got "Unsung Sondheim" and learned that a CD is more than just the performers and the songs.  I've since gotten a lot of his CDs, even ones that he did before "Unsung Sondheim."  Meeting him in person was quite the experience!  Thanks! ;D
