The baby shower was a success!  One of our committee dressed up as Winnie the Pooh and played songs with "baby" in the title.  He went by the name of DJ Pooh.  He was hysterical.  One of the last songs that he played (at my request) was "New Words," sung by the fabulous Liz Callaway, from the CD "Unsung Musicals," produced by our very own BK and orchestrated by our very own Elmore!!  Everyone who listened to it loved it!  People asked me what's that song?  What did it come from?  Who sang it?  I told everyone! ;D

Anyway, a great time was had by all.  And now, I'm back ordering books.  I'm working on the bi-monthly High Demand List.  It's called "Job Security." ;)

I think the ability to portray earnestness would have benefited Hayden Christensen ENORMOUSLY, despite the lines.

The missed opportunity was to give Portman some wisecracks...or at least sarcasm, from time to time.  Leia must have gotten that talent from one of her parents, but it sure isn't on display with either Portman's or Christensen's characters.

Very true, but then who raised Leia?

We have SWIIIROTS on sale at the store.  When I first spotted it, I thought the price was just $12.99.  Nope, my glasses were blurry and we're charging $22.99.  Too much for my wallet this time around; I can wait.

DR SWW - I just saw it at Target for $15.99.

My stop at Target was part of my mission to find sale-priced candy to hand out at a poster session I'm doing at a conference tomorrow.  Because the theme of the poster is "Grantseeking Research Resources in Your Backyard..." I wanted candy bars with money-related names.  The only one I found was Payday - didn't there used to be one called 100Grand?  Anyway, I got the Payday mini's and will have them in a basket in front of my display.

TOD,
I've met some amazing people in my life, but I have to say the most memorable was Sister Helen Prejean (the real nun Dead Man Walking was written by and about). Mostly because she has done so many incredible things - like singlehandedly getting the Pope to come out against the death penalty.  She is very small in stature yet she has an incredible presence about her, she's tough but sort of spritely at the same time.

Last night, Harlan & Susan Ellison took pity on me, because I am a batchelor this week (The Lovely Wife's away), and took me to a very nice, but somewhat pricey, restaurant on Ventura in the Valley.  We had a lovely time.  Toward the end of the meal a foursome came in...one of the couples was Larry David and his wife.  No, we said nothing to them and let them eat their meal in peace.

Unfortunately, I was unable to accept BK's invite for dinner this afternoon.

First of all, he's the World's Sexiest Man Alive (WSMA, in HHW lingo ;)), but I did think about that recording (which I love, also).  I decided to bring Liz's mainly because the co-worker with the baby was a woman.  If it had been a male co-worker who's wife had had the baby, the I definitely would have brought BB's recording. ;D

Cillaliz, nice picture.  Was your hair strawberry blond there or is it just the way the photo is tinted?  Either way I like it.

I am watching HI DIDDLE DIDDLE, a 1940s musical comedy which is on that 50 Movie Pack of Classic Musicals. It stars a young Dennis O'Keefe, Martha Scott, June Havoc, and Billie Burke...it is quite funny!

Hello, DR Ben!

Tell us about Judy Kaye and her show on Broadway in which she has to sing off-key?

To have Judy in a show and have her sing off-key!!
What a waste of talent!LOL!

The first person that came to mind when I read today’s question was Keith.  I just asked him his most memorable person and he said me.  Isn’t that sweet?  The second person he named was Spanky McFarland.

For two days now we have been upgrading our heating system.  The idea to do this began a few months ago when the heater in our bedroom broke.  I now have an extra vent near my side of the bed to keep me warm this winter.  I just wish they would finish and go home.

Keith just walked in and said they are about done. :D

The frig continues to decline.  Tonight our carrots were frozen.  As long as the milk doesn't freeze I will be happy.

'night.
