Well, you've read the notes, you were on the same page as the notes, the notes were on the same page as you, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're still trying to figure out what page they're on.

Jo Ann Campbell sang about Puka Puka Pants.(circa 1960) I don't think such attire would be considered Pukka in India.

Slow morning so far! I'm Number 5.

Jason, glad to hear we will be sitting next to each other. Ron, the seating in many Broadway houses puts even numbers next to each other and then an aisle and odd numbers so Jason and I won't have to hector our intervening seat mate.

Sweeney opens tonight. I'm looking forward to the reviews. I don't have a clue as to how the critics will treat the show.

On to work for me.

Later, gaters.

I think it would have to be the late former Prime Minister of Canada Pierre Elliot Trudeau.

Today is National Men-Make-Dinner Day, Sandwich Day, and Chiche Day.

(The site where I gathered this information had the listings in reverse order, but they make more sense this way.)

As proof that Halloween isn't entirely over, consider the following from ABC News:

Quote
Oct. 20, 2005 —  Thirteen-year-old twins Lamb and Lynx Gaede have one album out, another on the way, a music video, and lots of fans.

They may remind you of another famous pair of singers, the Olsen Twins, and the girls say they like that. But unlike the Olsens, who built a media empire on their fun-loving, squeaky-clean image, Lamb and Lynx are cultivating a much darker personna. They are white nationalists and use their talents to preach a message of hate.

Known as "Prussian Blue" — a nod to their German heritage and bright blue eyes — the girls from Bakersfield, Calif., have been performing songs about white nationalism before all-white crowds since they were nine.

"We're proud of being white, we want to keep being white," said Lynx. "We want our people to stay white … we don't want to just be, you know, a big muddle. We just want to preserve our race."

Lynx and Lamb have been nurtured on racist beliefs since birth by their mother April. "They need to have the background to understand why certain things are happening," said April, a stay-at-home mom who no longer lives with the twins' father. "I'm going to give them, give them my opinion just like any, any parent would."

April home-schools the girls, teaching them her own unique perspective on everything from current to historical events. In addition, April's father surrounds the family with symbols of his beliefs — specifically the Nazi swastika. It appears on his belt buckle, on the side of his pick-up truck and he's even registered it as his cattle brand with the Bureau of Livestock Identification.

"Because it's provocative," explains April of the cattle brand, "to him he thinks it's important as a symbol of freedom of speech that he can use it as his cattle brand."

Songs like "Sacrifice" — a tribute to Nazi Rudolf Hess, Hitler's deputy Fuhrer — clearly show the effect of the girls' upbringing. The lyrics praise Hess as a "man of peace who wouldn't give up."

"It really breaks my heart to see those two girls spewing out that kind of garbage," said Ted Shaw, civil rights advocate and president of the NAACP's Legal Defense Fund — though Shaw points out that the girls aren't espousing their own opinions but ones they're being taught.

In a word...EEEWWWWW!!!   :P

Happy Birthday, former DR EMILY.

DRJOSE....Douglas Sills should be spoken to as often as possible!

I think Mr Don Ameche was the first singer of the lovely Puka Puka Pants.

Is this a musical that should be re-explored?

If nothing else, it would give some ex-American Idol constestants a shot at Broadway....  And heaven knows, Broadway is WAITING for them!  They are so talented!  :P

Getting back to DR Jose:
Quote
DR td - I keep running into Doug Sills in the elevator - and he was actually at Sweeney tonight too.  Should I pass on your greetings to him?

To be honest, I've run into Mr. Sills only twice, each time presenting a photo op, though not lots of conversation; HOWEVER, Donna Lynn would more than likely have given the same reaction as Jim Stanek had you mentioned my name to her. . .
If you run into John Miller again, you can talk to him about the meaning of SHOWMO.  ;)
And, you could always ask Jim Stanek if he'd like me to send him the pictures taken with me (and a couple of friends) on the FORUM set.

I agree completely with BK's assessment of TWO FOR THE ROAD (as I said yesterday when posting my thoughts). All of the color seems just too placid, and when you're photographing those gorgeous European locations, you want to see it portrayed vividly. The movie sparkles in every other way.

But I hated to carp too much since the DVD is SUCH an improvement on the laserdisc.

Tonight starts November ratings sweeps on all the major networks, so you'll be seeing few if any reruns of first-run primetime series for the next few weeks.

ABC has jettisoned its entire prime time line-up to run PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, however, so don't go looking for ALIAS or NIGHT STALKER tonight.

I have lunch plans today, and depending on how long lunch lasts will determine whether I come back home and watch a DVD or go off to the movies to see CAPOTE.

The Vixter woke up about 3 Am with  a terrible cough and her temp was back up over 101F so no school the rest of this week.  She's over with my parents (I don't know what I would do without them)

Another excellent review for my friends at the Storm Theatre and their new production of the play SALVAGE SHOP

http://curtainup.com/salvageshop.html

With SALVAGE SHOP opening last night (and the Times review actually being printed yesterday, before they opened), and yesterday being the shipping day of the first cast album a show of theirs has had (LAST STARFIGHTER), Nov. 2, 2005 may be a real banner day for this up-and-coming theater.

End of shilling.  :)
