Back from a very problematic session.  Caught up with all the posts, and must now go to a reading of a musical, which better NOT be too long or I will leave at intermission.

Haven't eaten a thing yet today and hope I can last till the show is over.

The session ran very smoothly in terms of the band and the mics and the way the sound went down, but the engineer could not get a decent blend up while we were recording, and it was VERY frustrating.  And then, even in the mix, it took forever to just get what I deemed an acceptable mix to use, and only acceptable because we were putting a scratch loop over the track and making it sound like an old LP.

So, we gave that all to the sound man for the show, but tomorrow I'm going to Vinnie's and we're going to remix it and redo everything - Vinnie will have this sounding like it should in about thirty minutes, then I'll come over and tweak it, then the conductor and orchestrator will come over to hear it and be happy, then we'll give the sound man a whole new session with all the new mixes and stuff.

Geez, that was a lot of posting to catch up on.  I find catching up on posts is always better when dining on some yummilicious leftover spaghetti and garlic bread.

Spent the day back in the world of standardized test scoring.  Four to five weeks of Michigan 8th grade science this time around.  Monotonous, sure, but decent pay.

We are having rain, finally.  It started at sunset and the temps have gotten quite cool.

I've lit a fire and the living room is nice and toasty.

I avoided pizza and cereal for din-din....a quick look in the refrigerator showed I had the fixin's for a tasty omelette...sharp cheddar, green peppers, onion and ham...and eggs that would be wasted if I didn't cook 'em.

Yummmm...'twas good.

Where will NBC be expecting its "Medium" audience to find 3-D glasses?

They're going to be issued in TV GUIDE. I'm sure they'll have them in other places, too.

I saved all my 3-D glasses from the last big wave of 3-D movies in the early 1980s (the polarized kind), and I also have the red and blue kind that were used when they started showing things like GORILLA AT LARGE on TV.

And surely you saved your 3-D glasses that came with the SPY KIDS 3 DVD package.

Yes, DR TCB, I did mean "soup" rahter than "Soap." One of my usual slips of the fingers.

Tonight, I watched RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY. It's an enjoyable western. There are others I like more, but it was certainly entertaining with no dull moments.

And that print that TCM broadcast! Wow! Beautifully sharp and clear. This must be the master used for the DVD because it was gorgeous with almost no damage at all. I noticed one brown tear about 30 minutes or so into it, but otherwise, it seemed spotless.

I watched both episodes of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. It's weird and different, and I can see why critics have flipped over it: there's nothing like it anywhere on TV. It just doesn't make me laugh. I watched because it's different but not because I find it fall down hilarious.

I'm just in from a thrilling evening at Carnegie Hall. Ms. Lea Salonga was, in a word, angelic. She hasn't seemed to age since she did MISS SAIGON 14 years ago (yes, it really was 14 years ago) and she's even 4 months pregnant!

Ms. Salonga did an almost 3-hour show. Some of the highlights:

* Lea and guest Liz Calloway singing "I Still Believe" for the first time since Lea left the original B'way company of MISS SAIGON.

* Lea singing the Act One Finale ("I'd Give My Life For You") in a single amber spot of light.

* Ms. Liz Calloway singing "Meadowlark" and "The Story Goes On," which she sang as a duet with Ms. Salonga.

* Ms. Andrea McArdle and Ms. Salonga dueting "Tomorrow."

* Ms. Salonga bringing up an audience member to sing "A Whole New World" with her for her grand finale.

* "On My Own." Bar none the best performance of it I've ever heard. And I've heard A LOT of "On My Owns."

* Ms. Salonga cleverly working in an audition for WICKED, singing "Popular."

The only lowlight:

*Ms. Salonga cleverly working in an audition for WICKED, singing "Defying Gravity." Yes, she sang it.

And since everyone else had their cameras out...

OUT OF PRACTICE did make me laugh. I LOVE Ty Burrell. His dry wit and delivery is very funny to me, and the show had two plots going that were both amusing.

There was the mistaken gay-identity plot that the show has already used once this season (and that co-producers Joe Keenan and Christopher Lloyd used on several occasions when they were running FRASIER), but it still was funny despite its familiarity.

It's still my favorite new comedy of this season.

And then CSI: MIAMI began a two part show with David Anders from ALIAS and James Badge Dale from '24' both playing bad guys. Gary Sinise dropped by to help with the investigation, and the show concludes on his series Wednesday night in CSI: NY. I'll be watching. Dale's evil character is quite interesting.

And to give you some perspective as to where my seat was, here is a photo of special guest (and fellow Filipino) Mr. Paolo Montalban, who sang "A Little Fall of Rain" with Ms. Salonga and a very forgettable solo number while she took a breather...

I tried to resist snacking tonight, but I had some red seedless grapes and I finished them off.

I really do love grapes.

What is it with this weather? It's going to be in the 70s here tomorrow. Hello, it's November...I had to mow my yard this weekend....WHAT IT'S NOVEMBER!!!!! I don't mind the mild weather, but the grass is supposed to stop growing and the mower is supposed to be put away other than mulching leaves. This is just too, weird.

Well, I don't really have much to say. I worked, I came home, I ate, I worked and now here I am....I will say that I have now completed 13 days without a cigarette.  I have been to parties, to a bar, out with friends who smoke and through a lot of stress at the office and still no cigarettes. Sounds to me like I've really quit this time. Cool beans
