Back from a very problematic session. Caught up with all the posts, and must now go to a reading of a musical, which better NOT be too long or I will leave at intermission.
Haven't eaten a thing yet today and hope I can last till the show is over.
The session ran very smoothly in terms of the band and the mics and the way the sound went down, but the engineer could not get a decent blend up while we were recording, and it was VERY frustrating. And then, even in the mix, it took forever to just get what I deemed an acceptable mix to use, and only acceptable because we were putting a scratch loop over the track and making it sound like an old LP.
So, we gave that all to the sound man for the show, but tomorrow I'm going to Vinnie's and we're going to remix it and redo everything - Vinnie will have this sounding like it should in about thirty minutes, then I'll come over and tweak it, then the conductor and orchestrator will come over to hear it and be happy, then we'll give the sound man a whole new session with all the new mixes and stuff.
