Another great resort trip with my parents was at the Hotel DelCoronado http://www.hoteldel.com  which is on an island off of San Diego.  Technically my parents stayed there while my siblings and I slept at a motel across the street.
We had a grand time exploring the hotel, swimming and playing tennis.  The trip was for a very special occasion.  Before my father was an MD he was a DO (doctor of osteopath).  We stayed at the hotel during a medical convention where my father became president of the California Osteopaths.

Larry, just to check, your message didn't sound like he was supposed to call you back.  He was at the gym when you called, I guess, fulfilling one of his birthday resolutions.  Does he owe you a call?
Not really!

We went to Cancun which I expect is similar to Acapulco today-beaches lined with hotels.

Back to OKLAHOMA for a moment, I also watched on the second disc the fairly short documentary on the making of the film in Todd-AO and Cinemascope, but the short wasn't nearly long enough nor informative enough to suit me. In the part of the commentary, Shirley Jones talked a little about how filming was done, but NONE of that was mentioned in this documentary.

Something else I found interesting. I watched the main titles for both versions, and I never saw the word Technicolor ever mentioned in the opening credits. I'm trying to remember now if it was worked somehow into the end. (I didn't make it to the end of either version this afternoon.) Can't believe they'd not mention this brand name of color since it was the most famous color motif out there even then. I had to look it up to find out that Technicolor was used for OKLAHOMA.

I almost made it to Cancun once; a friend who had come into a big wad of money was going to pay the way for three of us to go there. When one friend backed out (too proud to accept this wonderful gift), the friend changed his mind and none of us went.

I also wanted to go to St. Croix or St. Thomas, but I've never gotten there, either.

Reminiscent of the Del Coronado was the beautiful old hotel on Lake George in NY.    We had a great time there when the boys were young.  We played tennis, went boating, rafting and parasailing which I can’t believe I did.  More than my going I let my little Craig go.  Craig had wanted me to go first but the crew sent him ahead of me (very smart or I might have lost my nerve).  I was screaming and laughing so hard I began to hyper-ventilate.  The crew became concerned & was about to real me in. Thank goodness they said something to Keith first who said “she does that all the time” so they left me alone.

I won't be seeing Mr. Potter this weekend. I have much to do. Vixmom, I just found out that one of my nieces has an American Girl doll. She's got Kit. So, on Saturday afternoon I'm heading uptown to American Girl Place to purchase some accessories for her doll. She wants the pajama set for Kit or the accessories for the sweater set (apparently this is a hat, purse hanky and necklace).

DR Ben, as The Vixter could tell you, Kit is my favorite American Girl because she lives in Cincinnati during the Great Depression.  If your niece would like a commemorative bookmark from Union Terminal, the train station that's referenced in some of the stories, just email your address and I'll mail you one!

At least George and I were able to send PMs. I thought I'd deleted the wrong cookies yesterday and somehow changed a setting!
Blame Jose!! ;)

Tom, check your mail in four to seven days! ;D

And Happy Birthday to Skip!!

How many of our esteemed HHWers plan to see HP this weekend?

I'm fairly certain that I'll be seeing it late night on Friday. . .

Vixmom I’m not sure when we will see GOBLET OF FIRE.  I expect it will be within the next couple of weeks.  So far we have seen all the Potter movies with friends during the day when the kids are in school.

I suppose Jose is to blame for that, too.

Off to do some cleaning now and then to watch some TV. Yes, LOST does run longer tonight, but like others, I will watch INVASION "live" tonight and record LAW & ORDER. Usually, I do it the other way around.

And VERONICA MARS is on tonight, too, a sterling night for TV!

This is THE DVD disaster of the year, and I have every intention of letting Fox know my EXTREME disappointment. They should hang their heads in shame to release such a calamitous transfer as the definitive disc for this movie.

When it rains it pours. . .
Now that the paper work has been filled out for one employer, I received a phone call about a half an hour ago offering me a position as an electronics sales(man) person - also with benefits. . .
Well, at least, the actual interview for the sales position, comes before the first day of actual work at the restaurant. . .
In other words, to be continued. . . .
Tune in tomorrow, same bat-time, same bat-channel.

Many, many thanks for all of the extremely positive vibes!

And on another note, when each time Dad and I (whether alone or with Mum and other relatives) were in New York City, he would bitch and moan about a hamburger costing $3.95!  I can just hear his voice bitching about a burger for $7.99!
