Off to forage for brekkies.

Cereal, or oatmeal...or GRITS!

Yes, grits sounds good.

And it's Thanksgiving Day.

Isn't there a parade somewhere....?

Ciao-ders!

Let the record show that I was not one of the Ohioans at DR elmore's '80's Thanksgiving dinners (but I'd sure love to know who was  ;))

My favorite Thanksgivings have been fairly recent ones spent at my nephew John's in-laws...they have a wonderful old house out in the country near Corvallis. The food is delicious and the in-laws, especially Grandma Jane and Grandma June, have become very dear to me.

A lot of Thanksgivings as a child were spent in Portland. I can remember at least one where, when I was 6 or 7,  I was very, very sick. That one stands out in my memory, but not in a good way! But I have good memories of other Thanksgivings with all the family.

Watching the last part of the Macy's Parade - switching back and forth between NBC and CBS.  Too bad that it seems that most of the Broadway sections were in the first hour...

OH!...  Spelling Bee is now on CBS!!!

:)

HA!  It's like a video of the song "Why we like spelling"

*And Todd Buonopane, Don Fogler's standby/understudy is on.  -But I believe the vocal is still Dan Fogler.  Hmm.. -Just like Chicago clips with Marilu Henner (and James Naughton), but with Anne Reinking's voice.  ;)

**Oh, and that very funny understudy "film" they recorded for Seth Rudetsky's show, is apparently up on Broadwayworld.com.

Today I will lounge about and finish the Bollywood movie that I started to watch last night. Then perhaps rake the rest of the leaves in the back yard before they kill all of the grass. Then at around 2 pm I will head up to Aumsville, where my sis and bro-in-law have finally moved into their new house, and we will have our Thanksgiving celebration!

As for most memorable Thanksigiving...

No particular one comes to mind, but I do remember some of those Turkey Days where my parents would go from house to house, friend to friend, relative to relative... Sometimes as many as five houses throughout the day.  Which meant five Meals!  Ugh!

There were a few Thanksgivings when Steve and I were together where would do Thanksgiving lunch at his parent's house in Richmond, and then drive up to Fairfax for Thanksgiving dinner with my family. -And then we would usually repeat the same routine on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

You know what's really cool about watching today's Macy's Thanksgiving Parade is that I've BEEN there!  It's really giving me a kick to see things I saw back in October and on the other trips and to know I walked through the very door they show from time to time in some of the shots of Macy's.

Happy Thanksgiving.

DR MattH, you managed to find Veronica Mars?

Btw, I believe the WB's Smallville and Everwood are repeats tonight.

But Survivor is new. And there is a 2 hour Apprentice (from 9-11pm). Although the first hour is supposed to be a clips episode.

And for those who watched LOST last night.

SPOILERS

Someone commented that one particular reunion was the best.

Do you think it was Sun and Jin?  OR the older couple? I suppose for most it would be Sun/Jin (since we know them better).

Btw, Smallville and Everwood are definitely both repeats according to the WB website.

Yes, the news about ALIAS ending in May is all over the internet this morning.

No big surprise as it's been fairly obvious the show was winding down all season, and as the ratings have been very poor on Thursday night at 8 (a terrible time period for the show), the announcement was pretty much expected.

They're claiming the show will go out with a bang, not a whimper. We'll see. As I said before, I'll stay with it to the end of the line.

Yes, I found VERONICA MARS delayed by my local UPN station. It was shown at 2 a.m. That's got to be GREAT for ratings!  :(

They showed a Bobcats (Charlotte's new NBA basketball franchise) game last night instead of VM in rpime time.

DR elmore - thanks for the "cast list."

Soon I will have to disconnect, because my internet cable runs across a doorway and we like to remove the hazard when we have company.  Richard and Rob and I are so used to it, we hardly know it's there, but we'd hate to have a guest trip over it.

Hate to leave the fine group that has gathered here at HHW!

LOST spoiler

I found both reunions tear-inducing. I even cried when Charley threw his arms around Jin. And Kate nursing Sawyer and getting him to take the antibiotics was very moving to me.

YIKES!!!!

Accident at the Macy's Parade.... The m&m's balloon hit a lamp post... and one of the lamps fell off... and hit someone... They just showed the ambulance driving away (on CBS at least).

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers.

Pumpkin pie and pumpkin cake are done.

I am half-watching the Macy's parade. May I say that I despise lyp-synching.  And the floor.

As for Thanksgiving today...  My brother Michael, and his wife, Veronica, wanted to host the meal today.  Originally, they were going to host it over at their house - which is just about 15 minutes away.  But then they decided that would go ahead and do the bulk of the cooking over at their place, and then bring the meal over here to my parents' house.  Just more room.  I believe the feasting will commence around 5:00.  In the meantime, I plan to do nozzing. ;)

I was about to ask about that DRJRand...  I was just thinking that it was some sort of prequel I hadn't heard about.

And one final word about "Rent" - And I'm still waiting for DR Jason's thoughts, I guess he made it to the zoo today after all..

At the screening I was at last night, there was more applause after the opening "video" of "Seasons of Love" than after the movie itself.

OH!  The CGI-generated "cold breath" started driving me up the wall. It was just a little too obvious - especially when some of the actors didn't look cold otherwise.  *However, at least they put it in, unlike in the Phantom of the Opera movie where they're all standing in the snow with nary a physical sign of a chill in sight!

I'm up, I'm up.

I'm already feeling very festively festive this Thanksgiving Day.

As to Alias, the producers have repeatedly promised "a bang" the last couple of seasons, but the "bang" has been a whimper 80% of the time, and this season has been completely pathetic - with an actress whose ego has pretty much put the nail in the coffin of her own show (oh, I'll direct the show now, oh, I'll be a producer now).  The producers very obviously did not have the usual "bible" for this show beyond season two, really, because they just began flailing around like a beached whale, going this way and that way, and their flailing became predictable - predictable is what kills shows like Alias.  They got cocky, really cocky, thinking the audience would just accept whatever silliness they came up with.  The Arvin Sloane endless back-and-forths were especially idiotic after the tenth time.  Miss Garner's pregnancy should have told the ABC executives everything they needed to know, and they should have done one two-hour wrap up before she was showing - that was the only way they were going out with a bang.  But, no, it was better to switch the show to a bad time slot, let it limp along, and THEN cancel it.  Now, they promise the bang.  They'll wait until Miss Garner has her baby, and is back in shape to be the old Sydney, then they will try to tie up everything -  they'll pay Michael Vartan whatever they have to to do the one last episode, Nadia will return, Irena will return, hell, people long dead from the first season might even return - maybe even the Rambaldi artifact will return - for all the earth-shattering importance of it, it has just disappeared.

Isn't it funny about "cold breath" - they figured out how to do it back in the twenties and it worked for seventy years.  Now, it's either CGI or they can't remember how to do it all of a sudden?  We don't progress, we just forget the lessons of the past.

Well, if Mimi's not going to stand in a snowfall with a lot of cleavage and no sign of being cold, the film can't be nearly as brilliant as PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
