The heater man was able to come to the house earlier then originally thought so....all I know so far is that I am going to need lots of money if I ever want heat in my house again.

I can't find photos of any of my favorite book covers, but I have posted them in the past. However, here is an example of the type that I like

Thanks DRJANE....

Oh....DRMBARNUM I think you will like the movie.  It is one of my favorites.  Lovely photography and couple of handsome young guys AND Jean Seberg and Deborah Kerr!

What great news, DRCILLALIZ.  Rosie & Albert back together!

Well a really bad design lost last night - but it wasn't the worst design team that got eliminated.

AND Santino made the SAME DAMN dress again....fabric flowing from an empire waist.  I liked the winning design, but I think I liked Emmett and Chloe's more.

No.  But I've seen both of them in things post that show and I think they can act (at least now).

It's called on the job training.

Lunch ran very late, so I only had time to watch the first episode of CSI: MIAMI's third season. This is the one where on of the show's regulars was killed. I've seen the show a couple of times on the network, and now once on this DVD set, and it always manages to move me to tears. The cast did wonderful jobs conveying their grief over the loss of this cast member.

MBarnum...good vibes on the new furnace, I've very familiar with getting new forced air/gas furnaces but don't know a thing about oil furnaces, here's hoping that there is suddenly a fabulous oil furnace sale....

Also, if you have to replace it, check with your utility company. Lots of times there are great rebates and  financing if you replace it with something energy efficient

Book covers? I'll have to think about it. I certainly have and remember only the hardback of VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, and I thought the paperback cover of THE LOVE MACHINE was also provocative.

I agree that the Gordon Merrick covers were wonderful, and I also loved Patricia Nell Warren's THE FRONT RUNNER.

I had to replace my furnace the last year I was teaching, and DR MBarnum is right: it's an expensive proposition. I was also in SCROOGE during the time it died on me, and I remember coming in one Friday night and sleeping fully clothed and under an electric blanket to keep warm that night. Thankfully, I had some space heaters I could sit in front of during the day as I waited for the men to install the new one.

And wouldn't you know it, the following summer, my central air unit died, and I had to replcae it, too. So two MAJOR outlays of money in less than a year.

MidAmerican Energy is offering a $250 rebate here on new furnaces that are at least 92% efficient and if you get their free homecheck and then put in new insulation as recommended they give you a rebate of 70% of the cost of insulation up to $600.   I don't know if there is the same type of program there, but it's certainly worth looking into.

I liked it very much. I remember BK thinking much less of it than I did.

I actually found it rather haunting.

Yay - I'm leaving work an hour early to get home about the same time as DH Richard and DS Rob.  We'll get to have a family dinner together (probably NOT home-cooked).

Bye for now.

Evidently only one company even makes the type of under the floor oil furnace that I currently have...and it is around $5000!  :-\

...so who knows what I will end up with.

Good Afternoon!

And it really has been a Good Afternoon and Day so far.

My run around the Tidal Basin was wonderful.  The sun was out, the fog had lifted, and the temp was just around 60 - cool, but not cold.  I just ran until my body and my mind told me to stop.  I ended up running for 30 minutes straight.  I wasn't going for distance, just duration.  -I also made every effort to NOT look at my watch while running - that helped to make the time and distance go by.  From the maps and guides, I'm guessing I ran just under three miles.  And I could really tell I'm in better shape now since I was not as winded post-run as I was used to being.  After the run, I took a brief walk through the FDR Memorial, and even did a couple of sets of push-ups and crunches on one of the granite benches. And some yoga stretches and poses.  It really was a great bit of exercise.  I'm hoping that the rain holds off on Saturday for a bit so that I can another run in around the Tidal Basin.  -And the smile that came to my face as I rounded the bend and saw the Jefferson Memorial - my starting point - a couple hundred yards away...

:D

-I really am digging this whole exercise stuff!

;)

*And I'm guessing part of the reason I had such a good run was the chocolate from last night!

::)

And I even managed to get in stops at Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Border's on the way home.  -And as I thought, Border's is giving out more discount coupons for next weekend.  -Last week was 30% off, this week was 25% and next week will be 20%.

DR MBarnum - Is your furnace part of your water heater setup?  If not - and I'm not even sure if that's even possible - could you just go to space heaters for the remainder of the winter?  One of my roomies in NYC found a great digital electric one - I think it's made by Vornado.  It really heats up a room very fast, and it doesn't make any noise at all.  -Or do you have to make sure your pipes don't freeze once the real winter weather sets in?

In any case...  I hope the repair man is ruggedly handsome.  And a former Bollywood actor.

RE: Fargo, ND - When I was on tour, we stopped in Fargo, ND.  I believe we ate at the Perkins there.  And I also remember dropping off some postcards and mail there just so that I could get the postmark.  -Oh, and the mall wasn't bad either.

And down the road a bit, isn't there that place with the large concrete and metal animals?  I seem to remember a moose.

Back from Miss Linda Purl - we staged her five-song presentation piece for New York, so that's done - we'll run it several times on Tuesday.  Meanwhile, on Monday we start putting together the real version of the show.

The news about JRB and Julia Murney doing L5Y broke a few days ago.  However, I believe right after Ms. Murney does her stint out in LA - which I would love to get out to see, but I can't - she's taking over the role of Glinda on the Wicked tour.  She's gonna rock!

*I would just hate to be the pianist and/or music director for L5Y with the creator as one of it's stars.  Too, too much pressure.

**And when I had first heard about this happening, I was thinking that JRB would be singing and playing from the piano.
