Making that list of ten is painful since it wouldn't allow me to include some others I watch a lot: THE CIRCUS, GOLDENEYE, AIR FORCE ONE, NOW VOYAGER, ALL ABOUT EVE, DOCTOR DOLITTLE, MARY POPPINS, GYPSY, WHITE CHRISTMAS, CITY LIGHTS, and SHADOWS & FOG.

I also left out the tons of TV shows I often rewatch like the CSIs and the first season of ALIAS and various seasons of FRIENDS and WILL & GRACE and THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW.

I forgot about TV shows.... I could have added Doctor Who, All creatures great and small, Monty Python, and several others....

DakotaCelt, if you like Capercaillie and Altan, have you heard Anuna?  Some of the most haunting choral music I've ever heard.

My community choir is doing a mostly Celtic program this session, including Enya and Deanta.

You can hear one of the instrumental tracks (Celtic Fantasy) on my site under Samples.

DR JMK,

There is a radio show you might enjoy... It is called Thistle and Shamrock and it is hosted by Fiona Ritchie. A number of public radio stations broadcast it.

Yes, I love Altan and I have seen them in concert. I also like Deanta, Clannad, Anuna, and Mary Black.

Tannahill WEavers and Boys of the Lough are good also.

Geez, bk, if you're going to spend your precious off time watching recent films, why not get your video store to load you up with something decent like THE CONSTANT GARDENER or CRASH instead of unworthy popcorn trifles like FLIGHTPLAN which no one gave a good review of.

"The Thistle and Shamrock" with Fiona Ritchie actually originated at a local NPR station here in Charlotte.

I am loading one of hte clips now and I have bookmarked it for additional browsing....

I play bodhran but I need to find someplace to repair my heard. Dry ND winters are not kind to them. They like moisture but my head has split and I do not want to put a synthetic head on it. I prefer the tonal qualities of a skin head. Mine is a handmade bodhran from Ireland.

I like Enya also...

A piece of Trivia... there is a connection between her and Clannad...

Maire Breathnach and Enya are sisters.

Good luck with your concert

DakotaCelt, I love, love, love Fiona Ritchie, and, believe it or don't, have been known to do a pretty good impersonation of her lilting brogue.

My brother-in-law is from Mandan, and his parents still live there.  Where are you?

On a whim, I bought a turkey (4.99) at Safeway yesterday and it's cooking in the oven as we type.  I love turkey as the DP doesn't like it as much as I and prefers chicken.  Oh well.

Incidently, the DP and I were in pre-pre-pre preliminary talks yesterday about a possible relocation to the east coast, Pennsylvania to be exact.  Me, being a California born and raised person, is actually up to the idea of moving east, especially so close to NYC.  I haven't a clue whether or not this will ever materialize, but if it does, I'd be up to it.

I read over the weekend that Fox is going to have a Mel Brooks boxed set for release this spring with HIGH ANXIETY, HISTORY OF THE WORLD, SILENT MOVIE, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, BLAZING SADDLES (in a cooperative agreement with Warner Bros.), and THE TWELVE CHAIRS. I can't remember if ROBIN HOOD - MEN IN TIGHTS was part of the package or not but those others definitely are.

Hopefully, things like YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN which weren't enhanced transfers will be this time around.

JMK, do you like Riverdance??

I have to laugh since I am watching an old tape and noticed it was the musical that the summer arts program in Grand Forks, ND did in 1997 called Keeping the Faith... It had a lot of original numbers and a spoof on Riverdance. It was a riot, the dancers were wearing mudboots, gloves and masks.

The other number that was impressive was the drum one that they did to mimic a sandbag machine.. They wen through 15 large 30 gallon plastic garbage buckets.

It was goord for them to do that. The flood of 97 is something I never want to go through again. Not a fun at all and very, very stressful.

Incidently, the DP and I saw Brokeback Mountain yesterday.  It's one of those movies that is hard to say what you thought about it right away/  At first I thought it was just ok, and I really liked the score.  I guess it's taken a while for the story to digest as I'm sorta thinking that I'd like to see it again.

DakotaCelt, I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of Riverdance, only because the lack of arm movement always makes me LOL.  In fact my wife and I call it "dancing with no arm movements," in an extremely creative description.   ;D

BK posted two here yesterday, plus there's the third from Variety which he prefers not to talk about  :-X, but which is available under the "Legit" tab on Variety.com.
