Speaking of Lucy and WILDCAT - From Mad Magazine's songs that just didn't make it, there was a parody of "Hey Look Me Over" called  "Hey Overlook Me."

That reminds me of a scene from the TV flop version of HOT L BALTIMORE, in which the hotel residents were protesting and the Puerto Rican hooker began singing "We shall come over!"

I Play Bodhran - that's the title of my next novel.

Yes, PennyO, I posted the quotes from two lovely reviews yesterday (one of them contained every spoiler known to man, so I didn't post it in its entirety), and we've received one negative review (I've been told) from Variety, which I don't care to read, but which can be found easily.

Re learning from reviews - Yes, if it's a critic you respect, sure, they might say something you can learn from.  I don't believe there are any such critics in LA, however.  People you can learn from - especially if they all say the same comment.  That hasn't happened with this play, thankfully.

DR JMK,

There is a radio show you might enjoy... It is called Thistle and Shamrock and it is hosted by Fiona Ritchie. A number of public radio stations broadcast it.

Yes, I love Altan and I have seen them in concert. I also like Deanta, Clannad, Anuna, and Mary Black.

Tannahill WEavers and Boys of the Lough are good also.

Are you familiar with Fairport Convention  http://www.fairportconvention.com/   and the Brobdinagain Bards?  http://www.soundclick.com/pro/view/03/default.cfm?bandid=106366&content=main&songid=0

Oh, my gosh....HOT L BALTIMORE....I loved that show when I was a kid...of course it all went over my head as I was only in the 3rd grade or so when that was on.

I played Ben Franklin in my Eighth Grade production of 1776.  This took place at a Catholic grammer school.  During one of our read throughs, our English teacher sat down with us to observe.  I blithely breezed through my lines, not giving a thought to uttering such things as "Tell me, how is the little bastard doing?"  At some point I looked up at my teacher and she was just staring at me, mouth agape.  She started waving her arms to stop the rehersal and said, "I can't believe the filthy language I am hearing coming out of your mouth!"  I, being the wise ass that I was (am), held up my book and said, "It's in the script."  She yanked the book out of my hands and walked away.  She handed it back the next day with instructions to use the lines as she had rewritten them.  The above mentioned line was changed to "Tell me, how is the misbegotten one doing?"

Sheesh--it's not like I was telling the Aristocrats joke.

I've just been polishing the patter for Linda Purl's presentation, and shortly I shall be on my way to rehearse with her.  I suspect it will be two hours rather than three, but we shall see what we shall see.

I used to watch that, too!  I remember that Conchata Ferrell was in that. ;D

And then there was the huge uproar this show caused even before it aired, not unlike what happened with THE BOOK OF DANIEL.  A lot of the hoo-ha was caused by producer Norman Lear, himself, who claimed that there was going to be no censoring of scripts and that this would be the dirtiest show on TV.  As it turned out (or as I remember it), the HOT L BALTIMORE was no worse than any other show on at the time and was pretty much typical of most of the sitcoms of the time.  It might have featured two hookers as part of the ensemble, but I don't think they ever showed their johns.

You know, over the weekend I was receiving a network on Comcast Cable called LOGO...but now it is gone!

Well, it is still there, but I don't have access to it any longer. I don't get it!

Of course all weekend it was reruns of Xena: Princess Warrior so it wasn't like I would have ever really watched the network anyhow.

Tell-tale parrot exposes cheating girlfriend
Report: Ziggy squawked, ‘I love you, Gary,’ but his owner’s name was Chris

Updated: 9:17 a.m. ET Jan. 17, 2006
LONDON - Chris Taylor, a 30-year-old British computer programmer, grew suspicious of his live-in girlfriend when his pet parrot began to imitate her saying, “I love you, Gary.”

Ziggy, an 8-year-old African gray parrot, would also make kissing noises whenever the name Gary was mentioned on TV and would mimic Suzy Collins saying, “Hiya, Gary,” every time she answered her mobile phone.

Confronted with the evidence, Collins admitted to a month-long affair with a coworker named Gary and moved out of their shared Leeds apartment that same night.

“I wasn’t sorry to see the back of Suzy after what she did, but it really broke my heart to let Ziggy go,” Taylor, 30, told the Times of London in its online edition Tuesday. “I love him to bits and I really miss having him around, but it was torture hearing him repeat that name over and over again.

“Ziggy was one in a million; he was a loyal friend, and I have no doubt he was looking out for me.”

Taylor said Ziggy, who was named after a David Bowie song, has found a new home thanks to a local parrot dealer.

Collins, 25, told the newspaper she was staying with friends and said she shed no tears for the tell-tale bird.

“I’m not proud of what I did but I’m sure Chris would be the first to admit we were having problems,” said Collins, a call-center worker. “We had spoken about splitting up several times and I think it was inevitable.”

She added: “I’m surprised to hear he’s got rid of that bloody bird; he spent more time talking to it than he did to me. I couldn’t stand Ziggy, and it looks now the feeling was mutual.”

I know BK posted excerpts, but I'd like to read entire reviews.

Also is the variety review available to everybody or just subscribers. Can someone post a link or email the text?

Howdy do, all...

DR Jose and I did, indeed, have a ball last night at Musical Mondays. If we really wanted to, we could have a  couple of balls and a...well, nevermind. Let's just say the place was just shy of lecherous at times. I must remember NEVER to shake anyone's hand next time I'm there...I know where those hands have been. Seriously, though, Jose and I had fun and we even got a little drag show right on our table, if you can imagine. Songs were sung, dirt was dished, a guy peeked at me under the urinal stall (after I'd zipped up, thank God). Why do we keep going to that place?? For Jennifer Holliday and Patti LuPone, that's why. And for the stories.
