Those are teeny-tiny photographs aren't they?  Those are Lilliputian photographs, aren't they?

Norma Desmond was right--it is the pictures that got small.

DR JRand didn't say it, but I will:

I Love Lucidity

(Actually, a quick search on Google reveals that BK said it way back on 12/30/2001.)

TOD:

The RSC Nicholas Nickleby set
Lost In Space (Season One)
Sunday In The Park With George
Into The Woods
To Kill A Mockingbird
Singing In The Rain
An Unmarried Woman (natch')
The Quiet Man
Pinocchio
New York (the PBS doc done by one of the Burns boys--I forget which.)

I think I might be confusing favorite films with favorite DVDs here.  I might reconsider my list when I get home tonight and glance over my library.

And the word of the day is: LUCIDITY!
The Lucy Ditty, by Harold Adamson and Eliot Daniel

"I love Lucy and she loves me
We're as happy as two can be
Sometimes we quarrel but then
How we love making up again
Lucy kisses like no one can
She's my Mrs. and I'm her man
And life is heaven you see
'Cause I love Lucy
Yes I love Lucy
And Lucy loves me! "

Around 1987, Christina was in a production of Jerome Kern's SALLY that I worked on.  It was the demise of Bill Tynes' New Amsterdam Theatre Company, done in by the idiot producer who took over when Bill died.  I wanted to have a t-shirt made "I worked on SALLY and got paid!"  I think Christina, who played Sally, and the rest of the cast, of which the only persons I remember are Louisa Flaningam and Alan Sues, got stiffed.

That stinks.... Christina has a beautiful voice. I have a CD that she did called Temporary Insanity. Beautiful. She even croons with Matt on the track, "Baby, Its cold outside." Matter of fact I have a clip of them performing that song on Soap Talk. Matt did "Into the woods" at the Interact, I think. I will have to ask Stephanie on that one....  I know Matt played Jefferson in a tour of 1776.

Ginny, Ben and anyone else - The Metropolitan Opera website confirms that the Barbara Cook concert is scheduled to be on the short side, from 8:00 to 9:30.  Is anyone still interested in meeting up after the concert (whether they're going to the concert or not), or do you suspect you'll be tired from a full day at that point?

Good Morning!

Well... I guess I can mail my union form back in when I get back to Fairfax in a few hours... We'll see.

-In other words, I let myself sleep in a little bit... Well... I let myself get seven hours of sleep... I got a drive ahead of me today, ya' know.

In any case...

DR elmore - I'm looking forward to my return to NYC too, and to being your whipping boy - NOT literally, DR TCB - again once I'm back in the Big Apple.

:P

And, yes, DR Jason and I had a fun time at Splash too.  -I just hope he has a voice this morning.  I have to admit I am a little hoarse right now after singing along with Patti, Idina and Jennifer last night.  ;)

DR Ben - Well... Let's see if your "lucky" streak continues.  ;)

Well... Time for me to get my bags - well, just bag - together and get ready to head on back to Virginia...

Laters...

When Ms. Ball sang "Hey, Look Me Over" in Wildcat, I believe that was a lucidity.

As DS Betsy will concur, we have so damn many DVDs here it's well nigh impossible to choose favorties, plus they change regularly.

Personally, BK, I didn't find the Variety review all that objectionable.  Yes, it wasn't a rave (yes, we have no bananas?), but he didn't trash you in any way.  As I'm sure you know, you can show a play to any two people in the world and get two totally opposite reactions.  This happened repeatedly when Starcrossed was having readings here--person 1 would rave about the exact same thing that person 2 hated with a passion.  You simply can't please everyone, and shouldn't even try.

And, personally anyway, I have often taken to heart less than stellar reviews, especially from people whose opinion I respect.  We drastically revised Act II of Reefer after our first staged reading when several people made the same critique (namely, that we needed more musical numbers).

Good morning!

We have a very pretty day here with partly coudy skies but temps hovering close to 60. It was 51 when I first logged on this morning at 9:45 a.m. Still amazing for January!

I really wouldn't know where to start with the topic of the day. I have so many movies and love so many of them so much that it seems impossible to contemplate picking ten.

Here are the ten that I revisit most often which must mean that they are my favorites:

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN
THE WIZARD OF OZ
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE
HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS
GOLDFINGER
DR. NO
EVIL UNDER THE SUN
THE HOUSE OF FEAR
STAR!
A FEW GOOD MEN

Yes, DOUBLE INDEMNITY is one of the worst transfers I own. Love the movie but really can't stand looking at that grainy mess filled with artifacts.

Making that list of ten is painful since it wouldn't allow me to include some others I watch a lot: THE CIRCUS, GOLDENEYE, AIR FORCE ONE, NOW VOYAGER, ALL ABOUT EVE, DOCTOR DOLITTLE, MARY POPPINS, GYPSY, WHITE CHRISTMAS, CITY LIGHTS, and SHADOWS & FOG.

I also left out the tons of TV shows I often rewatch like the CSIs and the first season of ALIAS and various seasons of FRIENDS and WILL & GRACE and THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW.

I LOVE THEM!!!  Karen Matheson has a beautiful voice. They did the music for a documentary called the Blood is Strong. I have seen them in concert. I also love the Chieftains and Altan!!

It is pronounced Cay per KAY- lee

I have it on video tape and it is getting very worn out.... I do have to say the copy that the prof had was not hte best but I still love the movie. It is a fine representative of the film noir genre.

Speaking of Lucy and WILDCAT - From Mad Magazine's songs that just didn't make it, there was a parody of "Hey Look Me Over" called  "Hey Overlook Me."
