Good Evening!
Back from
Kismet. A truly wonderful evening. Brian Stokes Mitchell and Marin Mazzie really seemed to be relishing their roles, and it was nice to see that their chemistry has not diminished. Marcy Harriell truly was a revelation. The last two times I've heard her, she was Mimi in
Rent, and she sang the heck out of "Another Hundred People" at the Kennedy Center... Who knew she had such a nice upper range? And Danny Gurwin... Ah... He still makes me smile. And he looks great with a beard too.

The sound of the orchestra seemed a little too-mic'd at times where I was sitting, but, all in all, balances were fine. However, it would have been interesting to hear the sound coming out of an actual orchestra pit, instead of from the stage... Most of the sound goes up into the fly space.
There were also a bunch of familiar faces in the audience tonight too - Mary Testa, Faith Prince, etc. And I always get a kick out of Paul Gemignani's no-nonsense conducting style. -And it looks like he's slimmed down a little bit from the last time I saw him.
