I am looking at some Chushingura DVD's DRMBARNUM....the Japanese Gone With the Wind.....a bit expensive....but if you recommend, I may give it a try.

For some reason Ann Blyth's voice (if it is hers) is lovely and can hit the same notes that Jane Powell & Kathryn : )B>< Grayson do....but Ann doesn't set my teeth on edge, so to speak. And there is the glorious Dolores Gray....AND Sebastian Cabot (ya ever notice that he has to duck when he comes through the door?) - and of course Howard Keel & Vic Damone!!!

I love the Olympics, winter or summer, and plan to watch quite a lot of them over the next couple weeks. I'll watch all the events other than hockey, which I've tried but simply can't manage to get interested in. I normally don't care much about figure skating, but I always watch it during the Olympics. Heck, I'll even watch the curling!

Dont' pay too much...Image did not do a great job putting it on DVD...the color is glorious, but the picture is not very sharp, IMO.

But I think you would enjoy the movie...it is long, and at times I had a bit of trouble keeping characters straight as to who was who and who was really doing what, but it is never boring.

DR Elmore3003 informs me that he just watched the Roger Corman 1957 flick THE UNDEAD...he enjoyed it very much (really!) and was quite impressed with Allison Hayes and Pamela Duncan (really!).

I shall now move on to my next Bollywood flick of the weekend...although I have n't finished the one I started yesterday...but doggon it, I am half way though it and I still can't figure out what is going on! So to heck with it...I will finish it later in the week.

Good Evening!

Back from Kismet. A truly wonderful evening. Brian Stokes Mitchell and Marin Mazzie really seemed to be relishing their roles, and it was nice to see that their chemistry has not diminished. Marcy Harriell truly was a revelation. The last two times I've heard her, she was Mimi in Rent, and she sang the heck out of "Another Hundred People" at the Kennedy Center... Who knew she had such a nice upper range? And Danny Gurwin... Ah... He still makes me smile. And he looks great with a beard too.

The sound of the orchestra seemed a little too-mic'd at times where I was sitting, but, all in all, balances were fine. However, it would have been interesting to hear the sound coming out of an actual orchestra pit, instead of from the stage... Most of the sound goes up into the fly space.

There were also a bunch of familiar faces in the audience tonight too - Mary Testa, Faith Prince, etc. And I always get a kick out of Paul Gemignani's no-nonsense conducting style. -And it looks like he's slimmed down a little bit from the last time I saw him.

...And it was a pretty full house tonight. Even some of the regulars who were sitting around me were commenting on how full the house was. Apparently, the pending blizzard was a contributing factor. There were lots of people at the box office before the show trading in tickets for tomorrow's matinee.

Olympic Spoiler Alert ******************************************

Watched the moguling, watched the speed skating, watched the pairs figure skating.

I wasn't terribly excited about any of the figure skating until the leading Russian couple took to the ice. I thought they were perfect. I don't care for the new scoring system, mostly because I've yet to understand how it works plus I miss the excitement of perfect scores.

And while I do like Bode Miller, is it necessary to see every stinkin' single practice run? I think I know about as much of that course as he does by now...

After receiving just a sugar frosting here all evening, the snow has now become quite intense and the winds are picking up, too. From what I've heard on the weather report, the storm is now set to last until about 1:00 tomorrow afternoon.
