All right, I'm going to get going on "hate."

It's such a legitimate word, when used to invoke what the Phred Phelpses of the world do. These are people who get an emotional rush out of hating, regardless of what destruction they do to others.
But when people use the word as a substitute for "dislike," which is something entirely different, I cringe.
I
do believe there is such a thing as hate crime. But I have met with too many politicians who are against hate crime legislation, because they make no distinction between the powerful emotion we call hate and the semantic poofery of snapping one's fingers twice and saying "hate it."
While getting down from soapbox, trips, falls flat on face, and says "I hate when that happens." *sigh*
