Welcome back, DR Elmore.

TOD - Almost any aged cheese is fine by me. The stronger, the better. (Can't stand cheese with "added bonuses" however. The other day, at Trader Joe's,  I sampled a some kind of cheese with mango in. Yeck!)
I Love -- and I mean that -- cheese. BUT - I shouldn't eat a lot of it because of high cholesterol (genetic) - so I don't keep any at home. When I go to any gathering that serves cheese, watch out! People must think I haven't eaten for weeks.

Must put in a good day's work. Going to the theater tonight to see THE TEMPEST. This production of the play got excellent reviews (not that reviews mean much). The Tempest is one of those works which can either be sublime or a real trial. It's not easy to do well and when it isn't done well - Oy! (A technical theatrical term.) I've seen it at least ten times throughout my life - the latest being last summer at Stratford, Ontario, with William Hutt, age 80-plus making his farewell appearance as Prospero. Seeing Hutt, still the great artist in full command of his art, was very moving.
...Laters!

Although lunch is two hours away, we're already salivating over the prospect of what we're going to eat at a local Szechuan restaurant.

(With Jose posting so little these days...and seemingly on a health bent, to boot...SOMEbody has to talk about food!)

...Before I go.... Forgot to say that I finally caught up with this week's episode of HOUSE. Excellent!! Just when I was starting to give up on it, they come up with this morally complex episode that left me sitting there, stunned. It really brought home something they said at the House evening I attended on Moday. One of the creators of the show said that the "procedural" part of each episode - in other words, the solution of the medical mystery - is key,  but secondary to weightier character issues. He said something funny like, "No viewer says, 'Oh! They feature vascular degeneration this week! Gotta see it!'..."
I'd bet a dollar, even two, that this episode gets a writing Emmy (or at least a nomination) next year.

How about a big slab of it atop a freshly baked deep dish apple pie?

There will be no cheese on today's lunch menu...but yesterday -- AHHHH, YESTERDAY!

Went to "Milano's", a local upscale Italian bistro that has an exquisite menu and scrumptious specials.

My favorite dish is Orzo con Salsiccia...orzo pasta topped with chicken-basil  sausage bites, broccoli, onion, peppers and tomatoes exquisitely sauteed in a garlic-infused olive oil.

I topped it with true Italian parmesan...lovely, nutty, piquant taste with a slightly chewy texture, even when grated.

My second favorite cheese is also Italian...and unique to Italy...mozzarella di bufala.  Oh, I know...you can get buffalo mozzarella in the U.S....but it's not Italian bufala!!!

There is something so creamy and pliant and richly vibrant about the Italian mozzarella.  U.S. mozzarellas can't even aspire to the creaminess and tastiness of it.

In Italia, mozzarella frita (fried mozzarella) melts in your mouth when you bite into it...and the Italian ragu sauce normally served with it beats the pants off anything any restaurant in the U.S. served up.

And Italian mozzarella on a true Italian pizza....OHHH!  HEAVEN!

For lunch i am enjoying a lovely sandwich made by my very own two hands,  consisting of Boar's Head brand "Ovengold" turkey breast, and Boar's Head  Brand Swiss cheese on a yummy Pepperidge Farm sesame seed sandwich roll and accompanied by servings of coleslaw and macaroni salads.  The only thing that could make this lunch more perfect would be eating it at the beach instead of at my office desk.

Tylenol Extra Strength Rapid Release Gels, actually.

It's kind of funny, but unlike most products, aspirins and various over the counter pain killers never seem to be discontinued by the manufacturers.  One can still buy Doan's Pills.

Is Sominex still available?

"Take Sominex tonight and sleep...
Safe and gentle...
Sleep...
Sleep...
Sleep..."

I always liked that jingle.

I'm sure he bent over backwards to get that!  Maybe a few other positions as well?

Where is our DRJose now that I'm kicking his reputation around?

Re: last night's TAR.

.
.
.

The former winner of TAR is joyce. The woman on last night's show is Yolanda.

I was shocked to hear her and Ray last night. I don't think we've ever really heard them speak before. At least not more than a word or two.

I didn't like how they argued. But I was more surprised (since it's so late in the season) at their slang talk!

I didn't think about it that the hippies helped fran and barry. Yep it would have taken them forever to find the message in the tower.

I don't care for fran and barry cause they aren't as nice as most of the other older couples. They isolate themselves mostly to the point of being rude. But last night aligned with the hippies (yeah right, since they needed their help). I like it when teams work together.

I still like the frat boys and hippies best, followed by mojo. The 2 guy teams have shown a lot, doing so well. I would have been disappointed if the hippies lost based on bad luck. So i'm glad they didn't go.

Sudden Urgent Vibe Request

Quote
(04/20/06) DEER PARK – About 400 firefighters are at the scene of two separate brush fires in Deer Park and Brentwood, near the Deer Park train station.
Twenty fire departments have responded to the scene with six more on the way. Most of the fire is located in a 25-30 acre section of the Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve. Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy says one firefighter has been injured. The flames in Deer Park have jumped over Long Island Avenue. LIPA has cut off electricity in the area due to the proximity of power lines to the fire. Residents at 200 homes in eastern Deer Park have been told to shut of their electricity due to brush fires. Suffolk County police are evacuating personnel from some nearby businesses.

Witnesses are reporting massive amounts of smoke blanketing nearby neighborhoods. News 12 Long Island’s Bill Korbel reports the smoke is visible on weather radar. Sagtikos Parkway is currently closed in both directions at Pine Aire Drive. In addition, Pine Aire Drive is closed both ways between Long Island Ave. and Sagtikos Parkway. No LIRR trains are running east of Farmingdale but buses will be provided. Also, service to Farmingdale is limited.

This is 1/2 mile from my house.... meanwhile I am currently 30 miles from my house

I cannot help but wonder, though....if there are brush fires in a Brush Preserve...isn't that sort of like inviting such things to happen?

Preserving brush, I mean?

They weren't, by any chance, attempting a "controlled burn" were they?

Many such fires start when winds take hold of a "controlled" burn.
