Finished Barber's Vanessa and am now listening to his Antony and Cleopatra - I know it was lambasted at its premiere, but it's really good. And Vanessa is superb, especially in its classic RCA recording with Eleanor Steber, conducted by Dimitri Mitropoulos.

I know Vanessa got lambasted, too. Byt I loved the music in the Met production I saw.

I used to go to Atlantic City often with my boyfriend, he paid most of  his law school tuition by playing blackjack

And now, I'll listen to ALW's Cinderella until I leave to go to my mom's...in about a half hour. :)

I only got to listen to about 15 minutes, so I'll have to listen later.

At my mom's, my niece won both games of Phase 10 that we played!  I was a distant last for both games...not even close. ::)

Went on a longer bike ride than usual as I wanted to listen to the newly released cast album of the new Andrew Lloyd Webber show "Cinderella" - and listen I did - to the entire thing.

While I don't judge a show entirely by its cast album - as I really feel  to make an opinion you need to see it in  its entirety on stage (or even a video).  I will say it needs another listen after I've read the synopsis.  But the initial reaction has been good so far.

That's encouraginflg.  My copy has arrived(!) and I'll listen to it after I've finished BK's interview. :)

Where can I find bk's interview?

:)

Thank you, George.

My pleasure, Jeanne.

I love everything Liz. I think her recording of The Story Goes On on this album surpasses her performance on the OBC.

I love The Story Goes On.. Currently, my favorite version is the Mother’s Day version, with Liz, Laura Benanti, her mother, {DON’T LOOK, ELMORE}Victoria Clark, and two other ladies that I don’t know.

Yesterday DR JohnG asked if my dining out experience was a good one.

It was quite good. Although I was not expecting the place to be so full. The restaurants have only been open here indoors for like a month (since October). So I was expecting that it would be 50 or 70% capacity.  They did have plastic between each booth. And the waiters were wearing masks. But the distance across the aisle to the next table was closer than I would have preferred. But the person's back was to me. And I was able to sit in the middle of my booth.

Thanks. Masks are almost nowhere to be seen here nowadays.

That is shocking to me.

John lives in Texas ;)  I think more people are still wearing them in Washington, at least by me.

I see fewer and fewer people wearing masks.

With the Delta variant on the rise I am trying to be better about wearing my mask.  The gym is still too hot.

Are there places inside that you no longer have to wear your mask?  Interestingly the government announced yesterday that starting September 1st if things were to get worse they only double vaccinated people will be able to do certain things. They mentioned restaurants, bars and gyms as they are trying to get 18-29 year olds to get vaccinated.

Technically that is what the rule is here, vaccinated people mask free while unvaccinated need to wear a mask.  The problem is businesses can't or won't ask.

These days the majority of people are not wearing masks here though I think the numbers have gone up in the past week.  If we walk into a restaurant and it is busy then I want my mask on until we sit down, not busy I don't bother.  The staff are mostly masked.

What good would it do to ask?  If people don’t care enough to get vaccinated, they certainly will have no problem lying about it.

All business workers here are masked. And at the places I frequent, many are still masked, me not being one of them. I don't care if a restaurant is busy or not - walking to the table masked isn't going to get me infected by anything, let alone Covid. But people need to do what makes them comfortable and I'm fine with whatever that might be, as long as no one looks askance in my direction.

And what about restaurants that post signs that require you to wear a mask, except when you are eating?

Earlier when Keith & I walked it was still in the seventies, and we walked in the shade.

Of course, it was still in the seventies.  You have many more years before you turn 80.
