Several cats were on the shelves by the ceiling. Because they weren't having it today.

Then we had lunch at Baja Fresh, using a forgotten gift card that I found cleaning out Sassy's old room.

And it was still good  :o

Saw the preview for Kiss of the Spider Woman. They don’t hide that it’s a musical. J-Lo sounds great. Some hope for it.

  They don’t hide that it’s a musical.

That was what struck me immediately as well.

Kiss of the Spider Woman is not a show/film/score I am familiar with. I don't know why, exactly. I love Kander & Ebb.

Now that I think of it, I may have seen the original (non musical) film when it first appeared.

People who would be adverse to it as a musical are not likely to be into the general milieu of the original story to begin with. My guess.

Today was a somewhat better excuse for a day than was yesterday!

I began my day with a drive to Aiken to have my blood drawn for an appointment next week.  I hurried home after to get lunch at The Triangle because today was fried cubed steak day.  I complemented it with smashed taters and crowder peas and washed it down with a large unsweetened iced tea.

This afternoon, I treated myself to a viewing of "Murder by Decree" with Christopher Plummer, James Mason and a host of British film royalty.  Beautiful cast, strong production but a weakish script that meanders along to a not-too-convincing showdown between Sherlock Holmes and a triumvirate of Prime Minister, Home Secretary and Head of Scotland Yard.  It wasn't a waste of my time, but it might have been so much better.  Directed, surprisingly, by Bob Clark, of "A Christmas Story" fame.

I continued my splurge into back episodes of "Haven".  Honestly, I find I am familiar with all the characters but seemed never to have paid the slightest attention to story lines when I first saw it!  That's pretty good, actually, because I am quite enjoying them now...but still wondering what the heck I thought I was watching when I watched them when first aired.

Today has felt like Friday all day, but I do know that's tomorrow (actually, here in South Carolina, it's now "today" as it's a quarter past midnight).

Who knows what merriment awaits me??!!

Back from our last film class of the term. Tonight was Kramer vs. Kramer. This is my first time watching it since it came out and I'm still a fan.

It was really fun seeing Dustin Hoffman in this after seeing him in Straight Time two weeks ago. And it was great to see Meryl Streep in her youth again.

Apparently in the final class the tradition is for the class to vote for our favorites. First you pick the top 3 (out of 10 in this class), then the top 2 of 3, then the favorite of the final 2. He says he's done two rounds of voting vs. three in the past but thinks the results are better with the three rounds.

I think we disappointed him that after showing us all these hard-hitting 70s movies like Taxi Driver, Death Wish, and Straight Time, our favorite was Paper Moon.

Kramer vs. Kramer was runner up, and Taxi Driver was 3rd.

I'm looking forward to taking more classes with him in future terms. I may not be able to do next term due to conflicts (missing 2 of 7 movies in summer term seems a bit much), but hopefully the fall term will work out.

Believe it or not, I've never seen Kramer vs. Kramer. Why is that? Or Ordinary People. Why is that?

That one took twenty seconds. Host just texted - he just got back in town and will check on things once he's in his Uber.
