WHEN I’M EIGHTY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, are we really in the last week of April? Is May really upon us? Is this year almost half over? I gotta tell you. Well, let’s enjoy the last of April, shall we, and also the last of Sheila. Oh, a Stephen Sondheim reference. Actually, there have been a lot of Stephen Sondheim references since Mr. Sondheim turned eighty. I wonder if when I turn eighty some Internet upstart will write that there have been a lot of BK references? I know not. I care not. The real question is, will I still be writing these here notes when I’m eighty? That is a question and a half, frankly. And in the year 2028 what exactly would I be writing them ON? Will I still say “Well, dear readers,” will I still be supping at Genghis Cohen, will I still say “cranberries,” will I still say, “Kiss my ASS?” These are the questions that are roaming around in the windmills of my mind. In any case, yesterday was a day in which a few things happened. I got up – that was one of the things that happened. I had to answer a lot of e-mails and have a few telephonic calls. Then my helper canceled. Then I had to prepare six packages for shipping, as well as one large package that I had to ship to our very own Mr. Kevin Spirtas. After I got all that done, I had a sandwich and fries at Jerry’s Deli, after which I went to Fed Ex and shipped Kevin his package, and I also shipped the next Kritzerland release source material to the mastering guy. Then I picked up some packages, including my free softcover books, which means the hardcovers should be here in the next few days. Very exciting. Then I came home and watched the motion picture of our next release. As I watched, I created track titles for the musical cues, and I must say I had a good deal of fun doing so. I’ll also be able to now write the liner notes. Then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched the first half of a motion picture entitled The Blind Side. I really had no desire to see it, but I have to say that I’m really enjoying it so far, especially the performance of Big Mike. I don’t know if Sandra Bullock really gave the best female performance of the year, but she’s very good. Big Mike should have been up for an Oscar – just a wonderful performance. I’ll finish it up this evening.

After the movie, I did a lot of work on the computer, spoke to the mastering engineer about the book’s bonus CD – I’d hoped it would be ready by the end of yesterday, but he couldn’t get it all done, so it should be going off today and I know he’ll make some really iffy tracks sound as good as they can.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below – I wonder if we’ll still have an Unseemly Button when I’m eighty?

Today, the helper will come and help. I have about seven more orders to pack up and ship out, then we’ll be doing several hours’ worth of organizing – we’re buying some plastic drawers and shelving so that forms and envelopes and things are all in one place instead of just lying on the floor of the dining room like so much fish. I want to get the dining room back to looking like a dining room, instead of shipping central. And it’s all in the organizing. I’ll also have some lunch, I’m sure, and I’ll also do some errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up some packages, and then watch the rest of The Blind Side and perhaps even something else. I’ll also do the liner notes and get that off to the designer. We should be getting the art for the packaging today, as well.

Tomorrow, I have an important meeting to attend in the afternoon. Thursday I have a lunch meeting at which time I’ll have lunch and meet, and Friday I also have a lunch meeting. So, busy little week, but I think the weekend is relatively free, so that’s good. I’ll be booking the signing date for Mystery and Imagination Books, and I also hope to book a signing date for Samuel French here in the City of Studio.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, pack up orders, ship orders, organize, pick up packages, do errands and whatnot, write liner notes, and then watch a motion picture or two on Blu and Ray. Today’s topic of discussion: If you could get on the haineshisway.com Time Machine and go back in time to attend any motion picture premiere in history, which would it be and why? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, and I wonder if I’ll still be writing “loads of lovely postings” when I’m eighty?
