LAUNCHING THE KRITZERLAND INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we’re ready to launch an Indiegogo campaign, oh, yes, we’re ready to launch an Indiegogo campaign. I’ve finally finished getting it all ready and it’s literally all I worked on today, from the time I got up until right this very minute. Thankfully, Marshall Harvey finished the video last night, so I got that uploaded quickly. I wrote all the copy and got that in and did all the business stuff. But it’s the perks that take such a long time. I had to do photos on a lot of stuff, find stuff, and then do descriptions and prices and all that jazz and you have to do it each and every time – there are no shortcuts around it. I think I got up twenty-three perks so far – I may do two more before the launch, if I can get it together, but I have purposely saved perks so I have stuff to put up once the one-of-a-kind stuff sells. And there are a lot of one-of-a-kind items. I’ve tried to be fair on the pricing – I think even the rarest stuff is hundreds below what it’s actually worth. I’ve tried to put up a little something for everyone. To come is some really fun original art. I also have a nice compendium of Follies photos and stuff – but I want to do that privately, so if you’re interested just PM me and I’ll tell you what it is and how much, then you can just make that a donation sans perk and we can send that right out. Also, it’s very important to actually click on the perk and read the description of what it actually is. As you know, the most important thing with the campaign is the first two days – we have to come out strongly, as it sets the tone for the entire campaign. So, if you see something that tickles your fancy, grab it and let’s come out swingin’. We can DO this. Not much to add to this section since all I’ve been doing is the stuff you’ve just read about. I am listening to the Roy Harris seventh symphony – it’s a little noisy for my taste. And then it’s the eighth and then the eleventh. There are thirteen in all, but several have never been recorded.

Yesterday was a long and winding day. I got about seven hours of sleep, got up, answered a lot of e-mails, then went right to the mail place to pick up not three boxes of books, but one box of book. Yep, the UPS originally said all three were coming as you’d expect, but then they notified me that two were rescheduled for today. The books look very nice, even with the little dust jacket flap issue that none of us caught. I really don’t care, frankly. Once back home, I wanted to try something new and this jernt called Boston Market. I’ve driven by these jernts forever but have never gotten food from there, even though folks seem to love it. I ordered what looked like a fried chicken breast with country gravy, and my two sides were creamed spinach and mac-and-cheese. The food arrived about thirty minutes later. The chicken thing was grosser than gross and about two ounces of chicken – I ate it but didn’t enjoy it. The creamed spinach was weird and so was the mac-and-cheese, but they were really small portions, so I ate them, too. Won’t be having a second meal there, of that I am quite certain. Then I buckled down, Winsocki, and began doing all the Indiegogo stuff. At some point, I made a couple of frozen waffles to get the taste of the earlier meal out of my mouth. Around five-thirty, I needed a break from perking, so I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Amazon Prime entitled Guess What We Learned in School Today. It’s a completely weird, almost surreal sex “comedy” that’s not at all funny. There’s a bit of nudity, but it’s pretty mild. I’m pretty sure the film was shot in 1970 but wasn’t released until 1971, presuming it was released at all. It was super low-budget, looks awful, probably shot in 16mm. It has a no-name cast, but the fellow who directed, shot, and edited it is someone named John G. Avildsen, who’d shortly after shooting this, would make a low-budget film called Joe and that one was a hit – starring Peter Boyle and Susan Sarandon, and, of course, he went on to a very successful career. It’s amazing anyone let him anywhere near a camera after Guess What We Learned in School Today, which was also called I Ain’t No Buffalo. The film premiered at Cannes (how?) but wasn’t released until after the success of Joe, and the posters all referenced the success of Joe. I’m sure it was meant to be satire, but it just lurches from amateur scene to amateur scene with a little pot, a little nudity, a little gay. It was interesting to see it and obviously Mr. Avildsen got much better and moved on to Rocky and The Karate Kid and others.

Then it was back to work, and I finally finished around eleven-fifteen and then moved right on to these here notes.

Today, I’ll be up by ten or thereabouts, and then we’ll launch our Kritzerland Indiegogo campaign, so be ready and stay tuned. Link will be in the discussion board and also all over Facebook. I’ll hopefully pick up the other two boxes o’ books, then I’ll come home and sign them and figure out what will go with them in terms of something fun. Then I’ll have the helper come get them and get them shipped off to everyone. Of course, I’ll be following the campaign all day and adding perks if need be and cheerleading. I’ll eat something and then at some point I can hopefully watch, listen, and relax.

The rest of the week is more of the same – lots of cheerleading, hoping we do really well the first two days, adding perks, which requires taking more photographs – especially for the window cards from shows that I’ll be putting up. There was a lunch on Friday but that’s been cancelled – the third such cancellation.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten or thereabouts, launch the Kritzerland Indiegogo campaign, hopefully pick up the remaining boxes o’ books, sign said books, cheerlead, hope that we have a really strong first day, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, excited to launch our Kritzerland Indiegogo campaign.
