The parade was cancelled yesterday, the rain was so intense you could not be outside.

Today the wind is so messy, who needs to clean up from the rain.  Not me,  8)

Many of the younger kids did not really seem to be able to sit.

Then again I suspect there were some who sat still - enthralled by the whole experience (but they would probably go unnoticed). My four year old grandson was better behaved during Lion King then were some of the adults - he talked to no one, had no cell phone, and had no candies to unwrap. There was no question about taking him - you can’t take  the 7 years old and leave the 5 year old behind because he might not behave; you take the five year old and are prepared for a parent to take him to the lobby if he has trouble with theatre manners.

Kids will never learn theater manners if we do take them! Shows like Shrek are a perfect place to start - we adults should cut them a little slack - they will grow up to be the supporters live theatre so desperately needs,

der Brucer

If you know your child can do it then fine. Also if you are prepared to take your child to the lobby if there is a problem that is also fine. But almost every kid i noticed who had a problem was not taken out during the show. Even the family in front of me who left at intrmission. They should have taken him out during the first half. He was disruptive. I do think it is possible to take only one of your kids to a show if you do not think the younger one can handle it. My almost 3 year old niece did not go. And when The Lion King was here a friend took her 5 year old but not her 3year old. I do think that thease types of shows are a good place to get kids first interested in theatre. But the kids have to be ready. I just think that many kids under five are too young.

Well, it's been in the 80s here for about a week now.  The flowers are coming up and blooming, leaves are starting to come out - about 4-6 weeks early.  the normal high is in the 40s.  This is really strange weather

DR Cillaliz do you have any Nook friends you lend books back & forth with?  I just borrowed a book from DR TD.  I'm trying to figure out how to invite you as a Nook friend from my computer vs the Nook.  Are you interested?

A few photos from South by Southwest. A night bloomer amid some gallardias.

This is datura. I have this in my backyard. Last summer I posted on youtube a short video of the flower opening.

I don't know how many varieties of datura there are in the southwest. I would call this sacred datura, datura wrightii.
Thank you, Laura. I remember that video. It was wonderful.

Made lamb tonight for an early seder service with my church group. And a flourless chocolate cake. Both came out quite well. And the abbreviated service was nice.  I just couldn't get the rest of my group used to two things: A) You have to wait before you can drink the wine; B) no dairy with the meat. So, we broke the rules at little and had creamy horseradish. And we had a little more than four glasses of wine. And we were good.

Sure!  Most people I know have Kindles, so I haven't shared with anyone.  It would be great. I don't know how to do it, though

Good to see that the New York Times redid its review of "Once" and liked the show more now. I, too, had friends who hated the movie and I would steer them clear of the stage version. But I surprisingly enjoyed the movie. The music is not my style at all, but I was bowled over by "Falling Softly." And I enjoyed the rest of the movie soundtrack. Looking forward to getting the cast recording.

Watching "Fatal Attraction" for the first time from start to finish. The script is horribly cliched, but Glenn Close is better than I thought and Michael Douglas is his usual sleazy self. I feel no sympathy for him.

I have a jury trial starting on Tuesday.  It's terribly over charged and the penalty is extreme if we lose.  So I could use some vibes here.  We have our last pretrial conference in the morning.  I'm ready for it and for trial.  Not expected to last long.  When it's done I'll have more time to stop by
