Well, you've read the notes, the notes were rainy, and now it is time for you to post until the rainy cows come home.

Breakfast:

My grown-up version of PB&J

Toasted Challah
Skippy Toasted Honey Nut Creamy Peanut Butter
Dickenson’s Seedless Black Raspberry Preserves

(Long gone are the Wonder Bread, Peter Pan, Welsh’s Grape Jelly days of my youth!)

DR Jane might approve.

der Brucer

This is my “Premium” PB&J

The everyday version would be toasted sourdough or whole wheat bread with lo-Fat Skippy Peanut Butter, and Smucker’s Seedless Red Raspberry Preserves

Lately, my PB&J's have been made with JIF and strawberry preserves.

I LOVE strawberry preserves on toasted muffins.

I prefer Welch's grape jelly on my PB&J's, though.  It's how I was first introduced to them.  And the jelly came in Howdy Doody glasses.  I had one for Howdy, Clarabelle and Mayor Bluster, IIRC.

It's early for me.  It's because even though my mattress warmer was on and my fleece blanket was warm I felt cold air.  That comes from keeping the thermostat on 60.  Yesterday's storm front was blown away overnight by a mass of cold air.

I got up to turn up the thermostat and realized I was more than "normally" congested.  Then I realized I had a scratchy throat.

So it was off to the kitchen where I made myself a cup of peppermint tea (Trader Joe's brand...the BEST I've ever tasted).  I'm feeling better, and I'm halfway through my tea and posting here.

The last time I was up this early posting, DR JoseSPiano was posting.  I now note it has been a while since I've seen post by Jose.

I looked it up and February 10 was the last day he posted.  That was 36 days ago.

Is he all right?

It seems I'm destined to be more a "Guest" and less a "Poster".

While Woody is hogging taking his fair share of time at the computer, I've taken to brousing HHW.

The problem is that HHW is unintentionally Smarrt Phone hostile.
The problem lies in both lay-out and man-machine interface.

Problems:

The left-side containing the poster data (avatar, stats, etc) eats up a lot of the post area; when you scroll right to see more test you lose the ID of the poster - and even in landscape mode with the screen scrolled right to chop off the User data, there are still many messages that run-off screen (Sites that have Mbile versions either have smaller margins are provide automatic text wrappinbg based on viewing area. Think of the Smart-Phone viewing experincing just like when HHW is driven into CinemaScope.

To execute page jumps, one must scroll eith all the way up or all the way down, then greatly enlarge the viewing area until the page numbers are large enough to press-select.

When trying to respond with quote, one is presented with a very small window in which to edit (remember, over half the Smart-Phone Screen is taken up by the keyboard display when posting.

None of these problems are insurmountable - they just add up to a very cumbersome interaction.

der Brucer

On the plus side - the posted photos are gorgeous in Smart-Phone HDTV resolution!

Ah, yes, the '50s version of recycling! Our kitchen cupboards were filled with Jelly glasses of various types, and our local dairy delivered Cottage Cheese in reusable colored aluminum water tumblers.

My mother's sprinkle bottle was always a soda bottle with a speinkle-cork installed.

And there was always the cardboard box filled with Mason Jars waiting for the summer canning season.

der Brucer

Note to young-uns - sprinkle-bottles were from the world of clothes lines and their associated pins and props (clothes poles). My well-to-do Godmother had her own home mangle!

Yesterday there was a Van Williams- Bruce Lee GREEN HORNET marathon on ME Tv.   I watched several episodes when I got home from work.  Very enjoyable show - particularly because of the two leads.....

Wende Wagner played Britt Reid's secretary, and she was very capable....AND beautiful.  IMDB says that she was an accomplished underwater swimmer and started her career as a stunt double in television and films....including doubling for Lloyd Bridges in SEA HUNT.

Married first to stuntman Courtney Brown and then to James Mitchum....she quit show business and moved back to the Bahamas....and passed away suffering from cancer at age 56.

I kept thinking I had seen her in something before.....she played Rosemary's girlfriend in ROSEMARY'S BABY.

She almost always wore that little green hornet pin on the show....sometimes in her hair and sometimes as a brooch.

vixmom Quote " jelly is what we know as jello or gelatin here - Doug it is a peanut buttter and what you ight call "jam" sandwich - traditionally here we use grape - what we call jam I think you call preserves"

That explains a lot. My idea of jelly is what you know as jello, which would make very soggy sandwiches! In Britain preserves and jam are the same thing.

The CD cover misspellings must be on the MAN/WOMAN cd....which I haven't opened yet.  Maybe that will make them even more rare and valuable as time goes by.

I was watching "Paris When it Sizzles" which I had never seen before. What a total misfire! Audrey Hepburn and William Holden can usually do no wrong for me but they were saddled with an appalling, stupid script and William Holden in particular seemed completely miscast and over-forced the comedy.

Actually (at the risk of making BK's head explode) I noticed this morning there are several typos spread across not just the label but the insert and booklet, and all of them different.  :)

Une = feminin
Un = masculin

How femme became fette is another matter entirely.   ;D

Good heavens is this morning's paper full of THE HUNGER GAMES.  Betsy and Zach are going to the midnight premiere this week with a gaggle of Zach's school friends and his English teacher.

???  I made no criticism, I asked what I thought was an innocent question yesterday, seeing as how BK can be somewhat of a stickler about these matters (the book spine being a recent example).
