Yes I'm home.  We went for a walk in town & to do some errands.  We purchased some "clear" caulk to use on the kitchen sink.  When we began to use it we discovered it is white, not clear.

The leaves are turning colors faster than usual, guess it is due to the unusually chilly weather.  It is 48 degrees out and wet.

I see in the news today that Miss Lois Maxwell has died. Of course many know her as Miss Moneypenny from the James Bond films, others may remember her as the voice of Atlanta on the kiddie show STINGRAY.

Nor should we forget her contribution to Robert Wise's film of Shirley Jackson's THE HAUNTING.

I was just sent a list of foods dogs shouldn't eat:

Alcohol:  It depresses brain function & can cause a coma.  So no pina
coladas for Fido--not for fun & not by accident with party leftovers.

Coffee:  The caffeine in a cup of java is a methylxanthine compound that can
increase a dog's heart rate & trigger seizures.

Chocolate:  The chemical theobromine can be fatal. Just three oz of dark or
seven oz of milk chocolate can bring on vomiting in a 50# dog.

Macadamia nuts:  Experts have yet to determine why just a few of these nuts
can produce tremors, even temporary paralysis, in a dog's hind legs.

Garlic:  Garlic breaks down a dog's red blood cells, leading to anemia &
possible kidney failure from leaking hemoglobin.

Onions:  Their damage to canine hemoglobin is cumulative, so small tastes
over time can be worse than wolfing down the whole bulb.

Grapes:  Toxicologists have found that grapes & raisins can cause renal
failure.  They're still trying to learn why.

After reading the list I just had to have a chocolate toffee covered Macadamia nut mixed with some raisins.  I was already sipping sherry.  I think I will have some coffee ice cream now.  All thanks to the power of suggestion, and the fact I can't have a Levain's oatmeal raisin cookie.

Perhaps it's white  when you put it on, but dries clear?

Well, I've found myself back here at the apartment for some quiet time.  After brunch, Richard and I swung by here for our NYMF paperwork and then went to Jose's Levain cookie party over at Worldwide Plaza.  Richard went back to church for an evensong, I went to El Centro to watch DRs Jose, Cillaliz, Samantha, and Singdaw eat lunch, and then they all came to admire our apartment.  Cilla and Sam left to get ready for the Brain, Jose and Singdaw went to Columbus Circle, and I'm waiting for Doug and Jon to pick me up and meet Richard and the others at the Acorn.

Maybe I'll take a little nap.

We are back at our hotel getting ready. We took Jose's advice and took a cab back. I'm glad we did. It was a lot farther than I was thinking it was.

Most of the clear kind goes on white so that you can see where you're putting it--it becomes clear as it cures.

If it says "clear," it should be clear, but it will go on white.  Believe me, with our remodeling, I know from caulk.  :)  Curing can take up to several hours.  Try a little where you can scrape it off later and leave it for the rest of the day--I'll betcha it'll be clear by tonight.

Knowing from caulk department:  I asked one of our not-so-bright workers one day if he had some caulk.  He looked at me aghast--I don't think I pronounced the "l" very well.  ;)

Yes DR Jane.  There is so much to see and the French people made us very welcome. We also have friends in nothern France.  Our last few days will be spent in Paris (as they were last time) in the company of DR François.

We like to plan ahead.  2010 may be back for an extended tour of the UK.

Speaking of Larry Craig:
MINNEAPOLIS —
The infamous airport men's room where Sen. Larry Craig was arrested is getting new stall dividers that drop nearly to the floor to make it a less inviting spot for sexual liaisons.

Web sites had touted that restroom as a popular site for sex with strangers, and police reports over the summer described several cases of men ducking their heads under the dividers into adjoining stalls, allegedly in search of sex.

On June 11, an undercover police officer was the men's room when Craig allegedly tapped his feet and swiped his hand under the divider in a way authorities said was a signal for someone wanted sex.

Craig pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, but when the incident became public, he denied ever seeking sex there and said the officer misunderstood his actions. Craig is now seeking to withdraw his guilty plea to the misdemeanor.

The Minneapolis airport has more than 80 restrooms, but only two are being targeted for the new dividers, including the one now known for Craig's arrest.

"These two have been the most problematic in terms of complaints from people and indications on Web sites that sexual activities are occurring in them," said airport spokesman Patrick Hogan. He said the dividers would be installed within the next two months.

Both restrooms, in the busy Northstar Crossing shopping area, had a reputation on some Web sites as good places for bathroom liaisons. Hogan said airport officials had been checking the Web sites and found the activity had dropped off since Craig's arrest.

One person arrested over the summer told police he had four sexual encounters in three hours, and it was only on his fifth approach that someone objected, Hogan said.

The new stall dividers will fall to just 2 to 3 inches above the floor, instead of leaving as much as a foot of open space as they do now. The airport expects to spend $25,000; installing them in every restroom there would cost about $1 million, Hogan said.

"It is unfortunate to look at having to spend $1 million on something that wouldn't be necessary if people simply behaved themselves," he said.
