Well, jury duty was ok. I did make it to the panel after one person was excused. They asked me quite a few questions and it was pretty clear to me that the defense lawyer (insurance co. for the school that was being sued for not protecting Native American siblings from being assaulted) did not want me on the jury. So I was struck in the final cut
LOL! I thought you wrote, "after one person was executed."
that would be a hung juror (hanged actually, but doesn't sound as good)
And the word of the day is: FURBELOW!

DR MattH glad you found the MRI a breeze. Did you find the noise loud? WEre you shoved in a coffin type MRI?
My MRI was more of a rectangle thing (the opening was not curved). The sound was unbearable.
BK, at the risk of inviting the wrath of other Lost-ophiles, I'm completely with you on Daniel Faraday. Betsy will concur I have been complaining about the actor and his speaking style from his first appearance. I just want to slap him. So sue me.
I love Jeremy Davies, too. So there you are, too. Horse racing.
On TV Tonight!™
ABC - WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?, PRIMETIME: CRIME
NBC - AMERICA'S GOT TALENT
FOX - MOMENT OF TRUTH
BRA - TOP CHEF (season six premiere)
FOOD - DINNER: IMPOSSIBLE
SYFY - GHOST HUNTERS
TNT - LEVERAGE, DARK BLUE
Yeah, well, BK's vote counts for INFINITY so nyah, nyah, nyah. ;)
Facebook strikes again department: I have been hired for a writing assignment by a company based in Sweden, which got me to thinking of a wonderful exchange student we had when I was quite young (she was hosted by one of my sisters, who was then a senior in high school). Eva was a typical gorgeous Swedish blonde, smoked (which was unheard of in those days for a 17 year old), and had been schooled for part of her life in GB, so she had this marvelous mix of a Swedish and English accent. I just had a huge, huge crush on her. So signing this writing contract got me to thinking about her, and I just checked on Facebook, and lo and behold, there she was! So I've "Friended" her and sent her a message, hopefully she'll write back.

And I'm up and it's overcast, and I cannot do the jog until CDs arrive, at which time I will do the jog, then pick up tapes, then package CDs, although I may reverse the order.

I'm a glutton for punishment. After bk's "review" of Endless Love, as well as the other DR comments, I had to see for myself. So I bought a very cheap used VHS copy from an Amazon Marketplace seller. It just arrived - in about 25 pieces. No way that the cassette will insert into my VHS player. So what would you do in this situation? It wasn't a lot of money, so not worth any huge hassle. But do I contact the seller and ask for my money back? They didn't use bubble wrap in packaging it.

Here's an item from today's Sound Off (anonymous voicemails transcribed on the opinion page):
On Saturday, I attended an evening with Christine Andreas, sponsored by the Middletown Lyris Theatre. I think most of Middletown would have enjoyed this evening very much. You missed a wonderful performance. Maybe if she comes back - if she will grace your presence - more people could attend this wonderful evening.
Sounds to me like they had a small crowd. Which we both know, DR Elmore, can easily get swallowed up in the Dave Finkelman Auditorium. How depressing.
We could do an entire HHW production!
Can I play one of the stiffs buried in the basement? :)

Here's a technical question for BK...or anybody else who can answer it.
If you see a film clip that you like on, say YouTube, is there any way that you can download it, so that you have it on your own computer?
I have a Mac.
Thanks.
I love Jeremy Davies, too. So there you are, too. Horse racing.
The super's 26 year-old grandson, Dragan Petrov, is my new hero. Within two hours we had the bookcases unloaded, and, because he is really really really strong, he had pushed the bookcases back against the wall and moved my CD shelves back to fit againt the no-longer-leaning shelves. When George comes in, all he needs to do is find the boards inside the walls, and bolt the shelves to them. I've got around eight cartons of things to send to Miami University next week and I am a very happy camper at the moment. Of course I am living in chaos now, but I am happy the task is accomplished.

Hey, DR Dakotacelt, it's good to see you back with us! I think it's fantstic you're studying for the GRE and wish you the best with it.
I am feeling better, thanks for asking!
When do the last two weeks of GL begin?I could videotape it for you. I think that Ron's finished taping; he and Dona are on a cruise to St Petersburg. Today she emailed me that they are somewhere between Helsinki and Germany.
I am inundated with various opera and ballet Blu-rays which I must review. I actually liked the ballet I just watched, La Fille Mal Gardee, so my brain must be getting soft. ;)

And the NY Times has started a series of "goodbye GL" articles too.
I can't picture either Downey or Law as the characters, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I can see the results of the first one.

Go to keepvid.com (http://keepvid.com/) and enter the YouTube URL in the box at the top. It'll give you the option to download as a flash video file (.flv extention) or an MP4, which can play in Quicktime and is better in quality. You'll need a flash video player for your computer for the .flv files...click on the link on keepvid.com for the free .flv player. It's free and I've never had any trouble with it. :)

It's Frederick Ashton's masterpiece! The Act Two clog dance for the widow is fantastic and John Lanchberry's score a masterpiece of pastiche and humor!
Some very interesting new titles have been added to Warner Archive (I'm looking forward to Hammer's SHE):

Yes, I knew about it, I had just never seen this particular BD before and I typically go into ballets dreading them. I think it comes from being dragged to The Nutcracker one too many times (that would be once, LOL) as a child.

What a day. CDs arrived at nine-thirty, I got them all packaged and out the door by ten-thirty and over to the postal office. Then I picked up some tapes, then did the two-mile jog, then packaged up all the online dealer orders. Then Cason came over and we got all those packages to the car and shipped. Then we had our lunch meeting, after which we did some more work at the house. Having him here for these big orders was very helpful. Then I've been printing out orders all day, too, and then I heard that our NEXT release is up for me to proof.

I swear, NO MORE BAD NEWS!! Two of my hiking friends just received positive test results. Positive sounds like it should be a good thing and negative should be bad, in these cases if only it were true.
Speaking of friends, I uploaded five-count 'em-five video clips onto facebook earlier today. Facebook friends feel free to check them out. . .

DR Ginny, it sounds as if having all those people there met some of yours & Richards needs to.
One of the nicest gestures tonight was from the sisters of John's first wife. They set up in the downstairs lounge with meat & cheese trays, a fruit tray, a veggie tray, cookies and brownies, and beverages for family members. It was nice to have a respite.

Yes, John's 2 older daughters are their nieces. They, along with John's first wife, looked after the 2 grandsons so their mother (oldest daughter, Rev. Amy) could be upstairs greeting people.
Congratulations to Jane's niece!!

It was nice she showed up tonight! I think John played for "Jacques Brel."
...
I always play the ticket-buying audience member, Ginny.
Vibes to your dear friends, Kerry. I think I've met one of them.
Serious vibes for the friends of DRs Kerry and Jane!
DR Ginny - I thought I was "Mr. Witherspoon"? Or are we all going to alternate in the role? ;)
Then I watched tonight's LEVERAGE. Fun episode with lots of magic being use as misdirection. The Hardison-heavy episodes are ordinarily my least favorite. He has that nonstop talking thing going on that Eddie Murphy does, and it's not my favorite thing for an actor to do. It gets very tiresome after a while.
DR td, I persevered and FINALLY one of my upload attempts worked-yes! I was able to watch the first 4 of the 5. :D :D :D :D One smile for each video.
Here's a late Ask BK question:
How exactly do these source materials come for the new CDs? Are they boxes full of reel to reel tapes? Are they labelled? I'm just curious about the actual physical way they're delivered to you. Could you maybe snap a cell pic of one of them just to give us an example?
bk - Do you freeze your grapes?
Well, I just did a little calorie and fat gram research on designer cupcakes such as I like. Close to 400 calories per cupcake with over 20 grams of fat - and, depending on the frosting, that can go way up. So, no cupcakes. And a slice of chocolate mousse pie is just as bad, and worse, fat gram-wise.
bk - Do you freeze your grapes?
Is that a euphemism? ! ? ! ? ! ?
