Like I told the roomful of ministers last weekend, if you don't have the lay people, you're in trouble.

I've been sampling some MGM-HD movies that I recorded - they look really good, unless the color is off, like The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, which is all brown and lifeless and ugly.  But How To Succeed, which, for some reason, started off letterboxed AND pillarboxed, went to true HD right after the credits and it looks amazingly amazing.

Now I'll check out a couple of Blu and Ray transfers, then either watch one or watch more Lost.

My head is hurting.

Earlier i bumped it outside on a birdhouse. Actually i stupidly bumped it twice. I was doing something under the birdhouse. And i bumped it, went down to finish and then didn't notice the house again. Oy!

I didn't hit it that hard. But i just haven't felt quite right since it happened. My head is not killing. But it hurts. I have been using ice packs. I thought if i took motrin it would go away. But it hasn't.

The weird thing is when i feel all over my head i do not feel a bump. Yet this must be why my head is hurting. Hopefully i will be able to sleep and it will feel better when i wake up.

Good Evening!

You know, it really does pay to be a regular.  I stopped in for dinner at one of my new favorite places, and as I was standing by the bar waiting for a seat, the hostess handed me a small plate with a slice of a Sardinian pecorino.  "We just got it in." Then one of their waiters/pastry chefs came up to me, handed me a champagne flute, then poured me a glass of a quite wonderful sparkling blanc de noirs from the Gruet Winery in... wait for it... Albuquerque, New Mexico(!!).  Both were gratis.  It was quite a wonderful start to another wonderful evening.

Then after devouring the Goose Breast Reuben, I ordered their Summer Melon Ice Cream Soda. Alas, it turned out the the Summer Melon Ice Cream Soda was no longer available, so I ordered their Drunken Grasshopper Sundae: brownie chunks, chocolate-mint ice cream, "anointed" with crème de menthe.  Very Yum!

...And then when the check came, I was very pleasantly surprised - and very flattered - to find that they had comped my cheese course and my dessert (too)!

:)

*And I made it home in time to catch the begining of "Top Chef". :)

Thank you, DR Vixmom. I'm hoping for some relief soon. Surely this can't go on much longer.

DR Ginny - I thought I was "Mr. Witherspoon"? Or are we all going to alternate in the role? ;)

This is the latest I've been up in the last two weeks, I think. I did get wrapped up in SONS OF ANARCHY.

I've watched 9 episodes in total (episode 8 had a commentary or I would have had time to do another episode tonight.)

The series is just OK, and there are the usual gang/turf wars that play into the mythology of biker gangs. Some of the personal stuff is more interesting than the action stuff which is strictly routine.

Oh, sorry, DR Jose!  Here's the corrected list.  We could leave it up to the director to assign the 3 of you to the roles he/she sees fit.

Martha Brewster - DR Ginny
Teddy Brewster
The Rev. Dr. Harper - My DH Richard (he already has the wardrobe!)
Elaine Harper
Officer Klein
Mr. Gibbs
Abby Brewster - DR Vixmom
Mortimer Brewster - DR Ron Pulliam
Jonathan Brewster - DR TCB
Mr. Witherspoon - DR JRand or DR Elmore or DR Jose
Officer Brophy - DR George
Officer O'Hara - DR MattH
Dr. Einstein
Lieutenant Rooney

So there are four more episodes and the rest of the bonus features which have been included on disc three, Don't know if there any more commentaries or not.

Then I watched tonight's LEVERAGE. Fun episode with lots of magic being use as misdirection. The Hardison-heavy episodes are ordinarily my least favorite. He has that nonstop talking thing going on that Eddie Murphy does, and it's not my favorite thing for an actor to do. It gets very tiresome after a while.

Lots of close personal friends in this series, now that it's filming in Portland.

Here's a late Ask BK question:

How exactly do these source materials come for the new CDs?  Are they boxes full of reel to reel tapes?  Are they labelled?  I'm just curious about the actual physical way they're delivered to you.  Could you maybe snap a cell pic of one of them just to give us an example?

My arm is really aching, so I'm taking it downstairs and putting it to bed (and the rest of me will go with it).

Good night!

MGM stores all their "assets" at a vault in Burbank/Glendale.  I request the titles I'm interested in, and then they send me the list of the assets for that title.  I tell them to get them ready for pickup and then I go pick them up.  Some are the original album masters from the year of album release, some are session tapes, etc.  All come in their original boxes.

I have a sweet tooth and I'm trying very hard not to go back to Jerry's for a piece of chocolate moose pie or to the cupcake shop for two cupcakes.  We'll see if the sweet tooth or I win.

Well, I just did a little calorie and fat gram research on designer cupcakes such as I like.  Close to 400 calories per cupcake with over 20 grams of fat - and, depending on the frosting, that can go way up.  So, no cupcakes.  And a slice of chocolate mousse pie is just as bad, and worse, fat gram-wise.
But I just don't feel like any fat-free candies.  I have grapes but I'm bored of grapes, having been eating them all week.  Oh, dear, what to do.  I've only had my turkey sandwich and fries, so I should definitely eat something - last night I went to Hugo's and had a Caesar salad and that was good, but that was last night and tonight is tonight.

I could go get some eggs somewhere, or just go nose around at Gelson's.  Listening to the new master with my one little change - this score just makes me smile.  I wish I could say the same for the film it's from, although there are a couple of amusing moments.
