What does one do if the bear comes to visit while you are outside?

Pray!!!  And stay calm.  Make myself look larger, slowly back up and speak calmly.  Keith has this annoyingly loud air horn he uses to chase turkeys away.  He has been taking that outside with him.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Well, still being in recovery/rehab from a heart attack was a great excuse for not attending the quarterly ladies' guild meeting after church today.  I mean, who really cares whether wax or oil candles are used on the altar?
That was a big discussion in my church. Now that we have oil, no one remembers the problems that the wax candles caused. And no one misses the wax at all, least of all the altar guild.

we have been using oil candles for several years now- much more economical, less dangerous and less messy

We have a bunch of Jeeves & Wooster shows on video - we showed some to the Vixter a while ago - she was shocked to see "Dr House" being funny - and with an English accent

What does one do if the bear comes to visit while you are outside?

First, avoid bear contact by walking loudly, singing, talking, using bells on your pack. If you encounter a bear, the best thing to do is to slowly back away from the animal while making soft, non-threatening noises- "Nice bear, good bear." Do not make eye contact with the animal, do not turn and run. If a bear charges you, you have little choice but to protect yourself by dropping into a curled fetal position. Put your arms over your head and roll up as tight as possible. Bears will often bluff-charge and stop before actually making contact with you, but if they are set on attack, this totally submissive posture often deflects the attack. A bear almost never wants to eat you, and usually doesn't want to kill you. He is most interested in neutralizing the threat he perceives in you by making sure you are down, immobile, and harmless. Most people who are attacked by bears (even grizzlies) survive.

But first with reference to elmore's post:

The late Laura Branigan and GLORIA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gucn6XIb5qM

I will confess to really liking GLORIA when it came out, and it was a great song to dance to in its day.  But it really is a stupid song.

There were a lot of stupid disco songs....RING BY BELL for instance

I loved RING MY BELL! :D

How do you make ginger ale?

Yeast, sugar, ginger, lemon juice and water. the original recipe that I tried is on this site

http://biology.clc.uc.edu/fankhauser/cheese/ginger_ale_ag0.htm

I use less sugar and more ginger to get the flavor I want. Am posting a piece about making it tomorrow morning. Will do a link to that tomorrow.

It sounds good...and easy.  I think that I might try this. :)

Okay, here is a question.

What new TV program are you looking forward to checking out this fall?

The ones that I can think of right now are "The Event" and "No Ordinary Family."
