Hello, Mon!

...I just got back from the beach at Castaway Cay - Disney's own private island... We headed out there first thing this morning - we were among the first twenty people off the boat.  Then since the Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers were on special before Noon, well.. Let's just say I had a wonderful nap in the hammock after two Bloody Marys. ;)

In any case...

I've had a wonderful time so far. The work portion of my trip was great. And the vacation part of my trip has been wonderful too.  -And as I got up from my nap this mornig on the beach, I realized that that had been the first time I had truly relaxed in months, if not years.  Thank You, Disney!  This whole trip could not have come at a better time.  After all the work and craziness of the past couple of weeks, this was really what I needed.  Aahhhh...

So....

Since, I'm currently on someone else's computer - and on Disney's corporate account...

I hope everyone has been having a great week and weekend.  And I should be able to catch up on the posts and notes when I get back to NYC on Monday morning.  VIBES to those who need them.

You can check with imdb.com. I also went to Amazon.com and it will be available on DVD by the end of November.

Thanks, Arnold.

OK, I think it was the PENNY LANE/STRABERRY FIELDS FOREVER single, from MMT.

Someone may have already written a post re this.
The single was in a way the Sgt Pepper's Single!. Recorded for the album and released at the same time though not included on the LP. George Martin later admitted it was a "Marketing mistake".

MMT's release was an E.P. until an album later with other singles was released.  "I Am The Walrus" made it to a single as the "B" side of "Hello Goodbye".

TOMOVOZ,
do you know anything about a Hugh Laurie drama about a con man, called ALL OR NOTHING AT ALL? I saw it in a British video catalog. It's new to DVD, but that's all I know.

In a word.

No.

Not that difficult for Mendes to outchart The Beatles when "Fool on The Hill" was not (to my knowledge) issued as a single.

Good Grief! The USA missed out on the "Magical Mystery Tour" EP set . No issue until the LP with the additional tracks not from the film.

It looks like everyone is getting into the cruise business.  I read somewhere that the Kellogg's Corporation was not only starting their own cruise company, but they have bought their own private island - Special Cay.

There you go again, getting all factual on me.  :)  The Beatles' version got a lot of airplay (at least in Seattle, where I lived at the time) in the nascent AOR format.  But you're right, it was never an official single of theirs.

Writers, studios to resume talks
Offering hope of an end to the walkout, the two sides announce that they'll return to negotiations Nov. 26.

By Richard Verrier and Meg James, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers
November 17, 2007

Hollywood's film and TV writers and its major studios have agreed to return to the bargaining table, offering the first glimmer of hope that a deal to end a costly two-week strike could be within reach.

The Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said late Friday that they would resume talks Nov. 26 on a new contract for 10,500 writers to replace the one that expired Oct. 31. The two sides announced the plan in identical statements, a rare show of unity.

Hey, no rush. We'll all just fritter away the eight days we have already agreed we could be talking!

It’s my understanding the AMPTP set this date.

According to my screenwriter friends the WGA has been practically begging the AMPTP to return to the table and would be willing to return ANYTIME, the sooner the better.

Ex-DR Panni/Maria says it isn’t fun carrying around large signs for 4 hours.  I bet ;D

I should have stopped at the market after hiking this morning.  I really don't feel like going out, but I must before we run out of t.p.  While I'm there I'll pick up some food too.

Was very busy this afternoon so I only got a couple of things watched.

I began with Tuesday night's SVU. This was the episode, heavily advertised, in which Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) is blinded. It did happen, but the ads made it sound more serious that it actually turned out to be. He has more blurred vision than actual blindness.

Arye Gross played (very well) the schizophrenic who was responsible for Stabler's blindness.

I didn't have time to start anything new, so instead I put in PRIDE & PREJUDICE (the Keira Knightley version) to see what it looked like upconverted and on my new TV.

Much of it (the first hour or so) looks very nice for SD-DVD, but there are pixilation issues in places. I'm sure the new HD-DVD looks splendid. (I saw the movie for the first time on HBO-HD where it looked superb.) If I get an HD-DVD player, this movie will be one of the first I get to play on it.

DR Sandra is babysitting Mae-Ling and Wae-Ling while Mr. Goldstein is on a marathon.

DR Kerry just called a few minutes ago. They heard me say "Kerry," so now they are making him a necklace out of beads. I'm sure he will wear it. Really.

Has there been a massive power failure in parts of the country?  How can we ever explain to BK why we are still on Page 4?
