Well, you've read the notes, the notes did not shilly-shally, and now it is time for you to post until the shilly-shallying cows come home.

And the word of the day is: YEGG!

And the word of the day is: YEGG!
DR FJL may or may not be a yutz, but he is most definitely not a yegg. :)
And congratulations to him on the prominence of his parody in the blogosphere!!
-
I'm taking my cue from DR Cillaliz and getting my house in order: the dog is going in for his quarterly grooming today, and the car for its regular tune-up. All it takes is money! :(
-
Hah! I am awaiting my copy of the AUNTIE MAME/ROME ADVENTURE score.
-
DR DRUXY - Please let Ms McBain know that we are very happy that her movie PARRISH is being released on DVD on January 27th, and that her role as the sew-fisty-kated Daphne Dutton in SURFSIDE 6 will always be appreciated.
The image of her in opening credits, sitting in a big fancy convertible and waving to us is burned in my memory!
-
There were very few teachers I did not like.
But I think my favorites were Mr Ruddick, my fifth grade teacher who used to play records for us, and was very good at history and English.
-
I am being offered no more hunks on my Facebook page.
I am now being offered Port-A-Poo for Dogs.
-
TOD:
Mr. Ed Ferris from fifth grade. He inspired us. From High School, Frank Slack [English] and Lewis Cisto [music, drama]. I have had occasional letter exchanges with the latter two, though I have not seen them in person [no longer in the area].
I think teachers are the unsung heroes of America!
-
To the trained eye, shally-shillying is noticeably different from shilly-shallying.
-
Alas Mr Ruddick is not listed in White Pages or anyplace else....so I do not know if he is still on this mortal coil.
-
I think Mr Hawk got a dove at the bird feeder yesterday. Lots of grey feathers on the ground.
-
And the word of the day is: YEGG!
And The Song Of The Day Is:
THE POLICEMAN'S SONG
(WHEN A FELON'S NOT ENGAGED IN HIS EMPLOYMENT)
-
Nice song......
Oh well....I am off to work.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I managed to get up early enough to put out the recyclabes. -Someone had to do it. I guess I could hear/sense the truck heading up the street.
-
In the meantime, I've been listening to WNYC. I had forgotten just how much NPR programming I used to listen to on a regular basis.
-
Or something like that. Guess I should start brewing some coffee.
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
5th Grade: Mrs. Wallace - I could tell she loved to teach, wanted to teach and really cared about her students, hoping only for the best for everyone.
High School: Mrs. Kammerer and Mr. Johnson (who passed away a few months ago) - My English teachers, and, most likely the ones responsible for my creative curiosity. Words could be fun, and not just required.
-
I just read the TV guide for this coming week and found out something great (for me). The W network (women's network) will be airing THE CLOSER starting this friday. It's season 3. But that is where i left off. We have not had any station showing it since then. Very happy about this!
-
Oh darn, a new NEw Year's resolution will be to try to read the notes BEFORE moving to the new day's postings.
-
singdaw - I saw that you "subscribed" to my videos on youtube - thanks so much!
-
Jose - Was that your first time visiting Jim's office? (You'd probably know better about these things, but even though the building is unassuming from the outside, the office is really a great space inside that immediately inspires confidence in the company. Gives confidence to visitors that, as I think the saying goes, they'll be tasteful and not wasteful )

When I talk to Diane, I will definitely do that. Unfortunately, she is no longer on the Internet and she lives about 2 hours outside of Los Angeles in a mountain community where she is, quite possibly, currently snowbound.

My favourite teacher was Norman Yonce, my senior English and Creative Writing Teacher. It was his first year at my high school and many of us established a special bond with him, because of his dynamic and unusual and inspiring teaching methods. We all thought he was 'the coolest". He did more to prepare me for college than any other teacher I had. He also introduced me to William Goldman's writing by giving me copies of TEMPLE OF GOLD & YOUR TURN TO CURTSY, MY TURN TO BOW. I've absolutely stayed in touch with him over the years. He used to come down to see my plays in college, he's visited me in LA, we exchange email. The last time I saw him was in October at our 40th high school reunion.
-
Good morning, all! I owe DR MBarnum an apology but I offer it only half-heartedly since the the word "picturize" is not in my Oxford English Dictionary and I refuse to accept it as a word any more than I accept this common occurrence of making up new verbs from old nouns: "deplaning" or "detraining," and now from the land of haute cuisine we have a new definition for the word "plating."
So, enough of my archaisms. I'm off to the post office and then a full day of Act One edits. My goal is to finish Act One by Monday. Tonight I'm seeing a movie with my drummer friend Chris. Tomorrow I have a date with goddaughter Charlotte.
Teachers: I had many teachers I admired and dearly loved, but I find the older I got, the worse the teachers did as well: out of all the instructors I had in college, nearly all of them were lousy with the exceptions listed below:
Grade school: Betty Fay, fourth grade teacher
Junior High: Valda Wilkerson, music
"Mousey" Matson, algebra (I cannot remember her real first name; Helen, praps?)
High school: Helen Weinberger, music
Elen Easton, English
College: Robert Kane, Latin
Max Welborn, World History
Stanford Luce, French
Homer Abegglen, Theatre history

BK's notes about Otto Preminger reminded me of my former publicity client, the late Hugo Montenegro. He did a score for one of Preminger's films (HURRY SUNDOWN?).
Hugo told me that, as we all know, Otto could be a rough task master, but that he knew what he was talking about.
When Hugo had presented his first version of the score to Preminger, Otto's reaction was "This is s**t!"
He then proceeded to explain to Hugo how to write a proper score and Montenegro went back and tried again. Otto was happier the 2nd time around.
-
My mother's nickname in her 20s was Shally, a diminutive of her maiden name Shallenberger.
I've had a lot of great teachers, including a couple of semi-famous ones. In college on the writing side I had Robert Mezey, who was a pretty famous poet in his day, and his good friend Robert Bly, who of course became quite famous a few years after I knew him. (Mezey used to have a roach clip permanently affixed to his belt, I remember--LOL). On the music side, Vladimir Ussachevsky, Billy Taylor, Jacques Loussier, Roy (and Katherine) Harris and Joe Henderson were all fantastic.

Doesn't Hugo have a son? IIRC, I exchanged several emails with him somewhere along the line via a listserve for those of us who love instrumental pop covers (of course, Hugo's huge hit was his rendition of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly).
-
My favorite teacher was Mrs. Patricia Borgstrom, my Drama Teacher during my senior year at Seattle's Garfield High School.
If it hadn't been for her, I might never have gone into show business.
Her predecessor, who I also liked, the late Joseph Steele-Shaw, almost never cast me in his shows. He had his favorites.
But, when Mrs. B took over the class, she was very encouraging and she even gave me the lead in the Senior Play. It was A SLIGHT CASE OF MURDER and I played Remy Marko, the role that Edward G. Robinson did in the movie.
I still keep in touch with her. We exchange e-mails and talk perhaps once a year. I saw her about 4 years ago when I was back in Seattle for my 45th high school reunion. I gave a talk at the University of Washington Drama Dept. She came, and we had lunch together after that.

He may have had a son, but I represented Hugo back in the mid-1960s. I don't think I ever met his family.

Good morning!
Not as cold as I was expecting, but it's overcast/gray because of incoming rain. Highs in the 50s today and tomorrow, but looks like I'll be inside this weekend.
-

I suspect a parody of your prominence would also be a hit.

..not to mention the parody on your protuberance

My favorite teacher was W. O. McKeown, my high school chemistry teacher. I adored his style of teaching. He was very intelligent, very erudite, and ran his classroom in such an organized fashion that I molded my teaching style on him. Years later, I did get the chance to tell him how much his teaching meant to me and how I emulated his teaching style in my classroom. He blushed when I told him that, but he was nice enough to compliment me as a serious-minded, dedicated student that made teaching a pleasure for him.
Other greats:
fifth grade: Miss Margaret Ferguson
high school: Mrs. Matrell Plyler (10th English)
Mrs. Kitty Jackson (Trig, Algebra IV/Pre Calculus)
Miss Hannah Duncan (Latin II, French I)
Mrs. Louise Williams (U.S. History)
college: Dr. Marcus Glover (Spanish I, Spanish II)
Dr. Neal Prater (Shakespeare, English Lit.)
Dr. Alton King (Modern Novel, World Lit, Modern Poetry, Advanced Grammar)
The only college professors I really turned onto were those who engaged the class in discussion of assignments. Those who merely came into the room and lectured for an hour were not favorites.
-
Good Morning, once again!
Finally out of bed. I've made coffee and breakfast, and I'm currently sitting at the kitchen/dining room eating and drinking, and listening to WYNC via the interweb.
A good Saturday morning.
-
Today is another day off, so I'll spend the afternoon with Alfred Hitchcock, finishing THE 39 STEPS and then watching another of his films. Maybe ROPE, LIFEBOAT, or SHADOW OF A DOUBT, none of which I've watched lately.
Tonight will likely be JUMPER on HBO-HD. Hayden Christensen is a poor actor, but the premise sounds mildly appealing, so I'll likely give it a try.
-
Druxy - Did you know Hugo Montenegro when he was working on VIVA MAX? (the movie that was based on Jim Lehrer's novel about a general - Peter Ustinov - trying to recapture the Alamo)
Totally one of my favorite undervalued movies, with a score/theme that deserved to be more famous than it turned out to be
-
Saturday morning greetings! It's cold and sunny here in SW Ohio and we're having a quiet day at home. Richard is writing his sermon for tomorrow and I'm getting ready for an afternoon visit from our DN (dear niece) Lauren and maybe her mom & dad. Lauren's is the only wrapped present still under our Christmas tree and I can't wait to see how she likes what's inside.
-
Hah! I am awaiting my copy of the AUNTIE MAME/ROME ADVENTURE score.
Is this on a CD? I adore Bronislau Kaper's score to "Auntie Mame." I don't remember much about the score to "Rome Adventure"--- oh wait, did that have "Al Di La" in it? It had one those "Al Di La" type songs in it that were so popular in.
Besides liking and knowing so many of the sets in "Rome Adventure" from other movies, my favorite is still seeing the River City Madison Public Library as the American Bookstore in the Piazza Navona.
-
Topic of the Day - Part Deux
College: My piano/Life teacher, Dr. Sonia K. Vlahcevic. I haven't seen her in a year - maybe even two. I'm hoping that when I head down to Richmond next week, that I'll be able to catch up with her. She taught me to "wonk" and "ping" with the rest and the best of them.
And even though I only worked alongside him (but never took one of his classes), I learned so much from Gary Hopper. He was - and still is - a professor in the Theatre Department. We worked on three shows together, and each one somehow managed to be more fulfilling than the previous one. His approach to Directing, Teaching and Process is directly responsible for how I work with and treat Actors. Just as there is "no such thing as small parts, just small actors", there is no such thing as a "small amount of encouragement": sometimes a single word or action can lead to something so much bigger and brighter... For both parties. -His wife, Elizabeth, who recently retired as head of the Costuming Program, was and still is a great teacher, cheerleader and friend.
-
DR FJL - Yes, I have been to Jim's office before. And, yes, it is a great space.
-
I am being offered no more hunks on my Facebook page.
I am now being offered Port-A-Poo for Dogs.
I'm getting ads for "singles services," which I assume has something to do with dating or classifieds. But you never know.
-
I have nothing to say. At this time.
-
I'm up, I'm up, and awaiting the arrival of she of the Evil Eye. It looks only a little foggy out and at least the sky is blue.
-
Kerry, yes, Auntie Mame has been released on CD by Film Score Monthly. It's available at Screen Archives Entertainment.

I remember the movie. Thought it was very funny.
I don't recall Hugo doing the movie while he was with me. Remember, this was over 40 years ago.
I do remember going out to Anahiem to see a gig he did with Eddy Arnold and Billy DeWolfe.

Hello, kidz.
Saw DOUBT last night... okay, I don't understand the hoopla. 'Overwrought' was my general impression. I don't think Shanly was the right director.
Best teacher - hmmm... I guess that would be my ballet master - Nico Charisse - I met him when I was about 5, I think, and was with him into my teens. He 'got' me on a deep level - once told my parents I was a cross between Edith Piaf and Genghis Kahn.
-
Heading downstairs now to check the mail and get lunch started.
WBBL.
-
Coffee!!!!
-
I wrote about Doubt a few days ago, but I don't think PennyO reads the notes :)
I agree about Shanley's direction, which doesn't really help the film. I did like the actors, but while I liked the piece a lot more than I did when I saw the bad production with Linda Hunt, I still don't get why it won a Pulitzer Prize and I still don't think it's great.

Good Morning, Penny!
So...
I'm not on the "Doubt" bandwagon either, and just like you, I think it would have been better served by someone other than Shanley at the helm. *Btw, I'm still trying to figure out exactly what variation of a dulcimer/zither was being played in the opening sequence. Any thoughts?
So... "Edith Piaf and Genghis Kahn" - WOW! Now that's quite the combo platter! So, would that be like "a baguette served with kefir" or more akin to "escargot and mutton"?
-
Coffee!!!!
Me too!
I just took Irving Berlin's words to heart and just poured myself another cup. -Oh, and I just remembered that we still have some apple pie in the fridge. Hmm...
-
a cross between Edith Piaf and Genghis Kahn.
;D

I have nothing to say. At this time.
You want we should give you something to talk about? :)

I'm sure that DR dB would be more than happy to oblige... :P

Does anyone have suggestions of songs to be sung in a drag show?
Mai Oui!
What kind of "drag"?
Male female impersonator
Male camp drag
Female male impersonators
Funny only?
Serious?
der Brucer
One of the funniest, yet touching, drag numbers I ever saw was an eighty-year old drag queen singing "No Time At All" from Pippin
Then there are the drag-queen anthems:
I Am What I am from La Cage and What Makes A Man (Lyrics by Charles Aznavour)
A man in a simple blue suit or a tux (with a chiffon scarf as a prop) can bring down the house with My Way
There is the obvious;
It's Raining Men

So... The question of the day is: To Van Gogh or not to Van Gogh?
The exhibit closes on Monday. MoMA is having a special Members Only viewing tonight after the museum proper closes, but that will most likely be a mad house - as DR singdaw and I discovered last time. So... Hmm... Maybe I should ask my monkey? ;)
-
FJL, congratulations on the parody. I loved it. One question, that bowl of caviar looks a little strange. Isn't it actually a bowl of blackberries?
-
It's a young man doing a drag show.
Thanks, I will forward the suggestions and will be open to more.
My goodness, what the internet has done to my life!

Question:
Does anyone have suggestions of songs to be sung in a drag show?
First of all: Why are you asking this question?
Secondly: Why are you asking this question?
;)
Otherwise... Almost anything from the Howard Crabtree shows/revues could work: Whoop-Dee-Doo and When Pigs Fly. *And the vocal selections - and OCR - for When Pigs Fly are readily available either at well-stocked music store near you or on Amazon.som. -There are also a bunch of clips from various productions all over YouTube.
Then there are the usual "suspects" by the usual suspects: Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, etc., etc., etc.

Tomorrow I get to dress up in a fancy frock and play one of The Three Kings in church again.
No need to post the photo again, DR dB... :)
-
You will most definitely need a fabulous hat anyway.
And so will the performer!

I think Joshie secretly likes to do drag when you're not there. He's already kind of got the leopard spots built-in.
-
DRLAURA_- I just want to make sure I'm getting this right. You now have young men asking you for songs for a drag queen?
-
Elementary -- Mrs. Rogers -- first grade; and Mrs. Richardson -- fifth grade
Jr. High -- my civics teacher (I remember what she looks like, but I'm drawing a blank on her name -- she really stressed current events -- we had to bring in newspaper articles and discuss the latest happenings every day (to this day I gotta read my newspaper and get my news everyday) -- and the band director, Mr. Solomon
Almost all of my English teachers -- I had some good ones in high school and college -- Mr. Mozisek, Mrs. Horner and Prof. Wortman
High school band director -- Mr. Rodman --- and my high school journalism teacher Mrs. Bobbie Abbott
-
What instrument did you play in band, DR Miss Karen? PLEASE tell us it was the tuba! :)

Kerry, Um, yes.

Ok. This has to be the best thing I have ever seen on Facebook:
"Anthony Dale has milked a cow with 56 people using SuperPoke."

DRLAURA_- I just want to make sure I'm getting this right. You now have young men asking you for songs for a drag queen?

I guess I should be flattered by any of you thinking the "young man" was me.

I wonder if it is still snowing in Portland?

That's one poor cow that may not be coming home right away.

LOL! ~ I think we were all wondering why DR Laura of all DRers was asking this question (my first thought was -- This can't be for her church, can it?! I might just have to drive down the Hill for that service...)
"Sisters" from the movie White Christmas -- I read that Bing and Danny were doing it as a joke/clowning around during rehearsals and the director thought it was so funny that he had them do it again for the filming and then it became a popular tune for drag shows
Cher songs -- something like "Half Breed," "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves," etc.

I'm up, shaved, showered and am off to pick up things that were...uh... lost in yesterdays car issue. DP and I are leaving for the Heim of Ana for a few days with the mouse in the ORIGINAL Magic Kingdom. We're going to get away, but I really REALLY want the DP to experience "Toy Story Midway Mania" at Disney's California Adventure. I experienced the attraction in Orlando this past October and found it to be the best yet! In the meantime... I'm out.

DR TCB - Did you happen to see Jeffy's pic from last night?

Is there now a time limit on HHW (or some right-wing plot to limit my gratuitous posting)? This is about the third time since the new formatting change that the site will log me off in the middle of a posting attempt. DR RonnieP, are you behind this? Hmmmmm?!
-
I haven't been able to verify this, but I'm told (through possibly unreliable sources, who have been known to fool me in the past) that a drag queen has already done a routine at a party for financial types to my parody of "Leave Me Alone" from back in November [after doing the real Helen Reddy song].
I hear someone has a very poor-quality video of it, so I'm hoping to get a copy - if it really happened.
I'm not even trying to verify it, because I'm happier thinking it really happened and would rather not find out it didn't.
The song is here:

Dr Laura - Is the drag queen indeed doing his own singing?
A combo of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" and Cher's "Believe" and the disco song "I Don't Want to Talk about It" (which I haven't been able to track down, it's the one that goes "Last time should have been the last time, I don't want to talk about it") would really get an audience going.
-
DR Ginny's quote about her teacher who looked like Paul McCartney reminded me of the time I had a crush on this student teacher for one of my high school English classes who looked like Robert Redford -- alas, he was only there for a couple of months or however short the time period for a student teacher -- *sigh*
-
P.S. Can anyone track down the disco song that goes "Last time should have been the last time, I don't want to talk about it" - it was a very exciting number as I recall.

Was it a cover of a song by Crazy horse, i wonder

Of course, my contemporaries seem to be more about charlie horse than Crazy horse these days, but sitll -

Thanks for the song suggestions. I am forwarding them to him. I assume he is doing his own singing; I've heard him, and he's very good.

"In 1983, Pamala's remarkable single, "I Don't Want To Talk About it," written by her brother, James Lee Stanley, shot up to #13 on the Billboard Disco charts. This hit set the stage for tours throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada, and introduced Pamala to national television shows like Dance Fever."

Well, I haven't left yet. I've taken some time while the DP is still slinging cake to contact the final member for my Anything Goes orchestra. We're using the combo orchestration for the 1966 version. However, there will be a lot of writing going on as certain directors can't seem to stick to one script and one score. I guess this is what happens with the old shows. Speaking of which, a certain choreographer needs the dance music for "Heaven Hop". I'm out...

We were driving, but it is quite a haul. And the drum teacher (who's also my quite excellent percussionist in my latin group) lives relatively high for Portland, so his streets were covered by a very scary sheet of ice (and he lives in a very steep, hilly area). No fun at all. I'm kind of sick of the snow. :)

I'm guessing DR Matthew meant to type the 1962 version, since that is the one that is licensed with a "Combo" orchestration. And since he needs the dance music for "Heaven Hop"... The 1987/LuPone version has a "FlexBo" orchestration available. Both are available through Tams-Witmark.
Hmm... Now I'm wondering who handles the licensing for the original 1934 version?

Good Afternoon!
Well... I believe I'm going to head out for a bit - as seems to be my routine around this time of day lately. And, yes, I believe I'm going to head back to MoMA. They are screening some Douglas Fairbanks silent movies - with live piano accompaniment! - and if there are still tickets left for those, I may snag one. Otherwise, I think I'll get my "farewell" visit in for the Van Gogh since there are extended Members Only hours tonight. -Although, I have a sneaking suspicion I may end up back there on Monday too on the actual closing day of the exhibition.

Next, I finished THE 39 STEPS which I had begun last night. Always a satisfying conclusion to the mystery.

And since I had started with British Hitchcock last night, I went ahead and put in THE LADY VANISHES, the most recent updating via Criterion, and didn't quite get finished with it. I'll finish it up when I go back downstairs.

I'm thinking at some point tonight I'll be watching ROSE OF WASHINGTON SQUARE from the most recent Alice Faye box. Of course, I'll also fit JUMPER off HBO-HD in there somewhere.

I just came back from WINNERS. My mom asked if i would drive her to the outlet store because they had 70% off all xmas and chanukah stuff that was left. I'm not sure how to describe WINNERS (i'm guessing it is not a US chain?). It is some designer names but at discount prices. And all the clothes are organized by size, not by same style. They have clothes, purses (yeah!) toys, shoes, accessories ... and the list goes on.
Well they had a lot of holiday stuff. We got wrapping paper for $1 (instead of $5). My mom ended up getting quite a bit of chanukah stuff that she liked. I got a really nice mug for $1.

We're going to Austin on Tuesday (6) for a week. We're going to check out the progress on the house thus far, meets with various vendors, then on Saturday (10), I've got a book signing at Borders.
Oh, don't toss em!
Don't worry. I'm keeping the important ones.

I'd guess it happens more frequently than one might imagine.

Ouch, Cillaliz! I hope it heals properly soon!

Jennifer, she probably uses her amazing Magic Bullet to make the chicken salad.
Well she didn't make the ones she served (she bought them). But i would really like to find a recipe to make it. I wish i had a magic bullet. They look cool!
-
Does anybody know a good recipe for chicken salad sandwiches?
On Christmas eve my aunt bought these amazing ones. The consistency was basically like tuna. I'd rather not used canned chicken. But i was wondering if i used boneless chicken breast and then put it in the food processor? I don't want chicken cubes (if that makes sense).
I would shred the breast with a fork then chop the pieces.
der Brucer
PS cook the chicken first :)
If i shred and the chop wouldn't the pieces of chicken still be a bit large.
I really love the texture of the one i had. I hope it wasn't canned. The recipes i found online said to use canned chicken, which i've never tried. But it doesn't sound good. And i'd rather use real boneless chicken(which i have).
-

Not if you shred finely and chop finely.
(The ones you had probably were canned diced chicked - Swanson)

Evening folks.
I'm afraid I need a hand holding right now because I just had the third person come and give me an estimate on repairing my porch and I went ahead and sign the contract with him.
I know it needs to be done but I'm always scared to death when I do these type of things. I looked the up on the BBB website and he got a "B" and has been in business over 25 years. That's not to bad--it listed that he fixed any problems there were and stood behind his work.

I did want to share a web site/program I found for the mac--It's a journal that you can download and write to. You can include pictures, videos, etc right on the page your working with.
http://www.evanagee.com/blog/2006/07/19/great-free-journal-software-for-the-mac/
I've only had it since New Years Day but I really like it. I used to keep a journal but my handwriting is getting worse and I can't spell worth a hoot. This way my entries will be legible and spelled correctly
-
I'm afraid I need a hand holding right now...
I hold your hand in mine, dear,
I press it to my lips.
I take a healthy bite
From your dainty fingertips.
My joy would be complete, dear,
If you were only here,
But still I keep your hand
As a precious souvenir.
and so on

We had a local guy who did "Creature Feature" on Saturdays. His name was Dr. Paul Bearer (maybe I didn't spell that right). He would go to his "music" room and do songs like that. Oh course, HE didn't really sing them--it was a recording but I remember that one. :)
-
Over the holidays, I bought myself a copy of HOLLYWOOD BABYLON; It's Back. I never expected that I would find a book that could make Kenneth Anger look like a literary genius.

I could fall over my teachers and I wouldn't know them. Not a single one of them made enough of an impression on me to be remembered. High School was my horror years when the kids used to wait for me to get on the bus to go home. I'm afraid their day wasn't complete until they had me in tears.
If I had a penny for every time I sat on the last seat on that bus and cried my way home I would be a rich person right now. My Mom would ask me what was wrong but of course I couldn't tell her. It would have only made things worse. Besides, the bus driver was sitting on the bus and saw the whole thing happen day after day and never lifted a finger to do anything about it.
Needless to say, I hated school. I was so scared that was what would happen if I went to college it's one of the main reasons I never wanted to go.
-
I'm taking my cue from DR Cillaliz and getting my house in order: the dog is going in for his quarterly grooming today, and the car for its regular tune-up. All it takes is money! :(
Don't remind me. I had to cancel my car tune-up today. We have black ice
What is black ice? I mean besides ice that is black. I thought snow was white. Does it change colors? Picture, please!

Wilbur has a severe infection in his leg, and is about 20 lbs underweight. He had one leg bone completely exposed and then someone wrapped it so tightly that it caused the tissue to atrophy.
Wilbur is in good hands now and is getting treatment at the Best Friends Clinic but his recuperaton may take a while as he may be losing his back leg.
We need a comfy home for Wilbur to stay at until he is completely well and can go to his forever home.
Sure wish we lived closer.

What is black ice? I mean besides ice that is black. I thought snow was white. Does it change colors? Picture, please!
"Black ice" is really "transparent ice" - moisture that contains few air bubbles that freezes on flat surfases like roads, sidewalks, and ponds. On asphalt roadways it is virtually invisable - and on concrete it is very faint. Black ice is also slipperier than packed snow-type ice.
der Brucer
-
Black ice is the shiny stuff you see on the near side of the road in this picture. It is water that has melted on the road during the day, and reforms as a think layer of ice at night.

That's ok. I don't think I missed much by not going. We have people right now that can't get a job because they are over qualified. They would love a job--any job but their degree keeps them from getting one unless they lie and say they don't have one.
We were just talking about that at work on Wednesday.

Yes! Al Di La was indeed used in the movie. It was written in 1961 and represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest - and sung by Betty Curtis.
It didn't win!

I wish you all could hear Miss Sheena right now. She's on the couch snoring away. She's had quite a day when the guy came to do all measurements for the porch.
I will say he was pretty impressed with the house. The fact that i have brick all the way up to the roof. He said they don't make houses with brick past the eight foot line anymore. He said that makes the house even safer in the event of a big storm.

From the look of that picture, it sure does. I guess I was lucky when I made the trip to Pittsburgh back in November. Black ice isn'[t really black. It's ice that you can't see. Looking at the road it looks like it's just wet - but it's solid ice. They call it black ice. Probably because the asphalt looks black even though it's ice, but I really don't know. All I know is it creeps up on you and you don't expect it. I heard there were 28 car accidents in Sioux City because of it today and they called all the busses in off the street

Speaking of dogs and such on Facebook, I belonged to that game Pokey but it was getting to be real pain. I felt bad if I didn't feed that cyber dog and I fed as many other cyber dogs that people no longer wanted as I could. Then one day, I couldn't get back into the game without signing back up ---so my poor little cyber dog is lost. But I'm not signing back up for the game again.

Danise - There's some truth to what you're saying about being "over-qualified" in tough times, at least in my experience.
I found myself out of work in the tough economic times of 1991, and I was confused since I had a Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Computers, a Masters in economics, the basic J.D. law degree, and was one course away from getting the LL.M. which is the Masters in law, but clearly said in my cover letter that I would take a lower salary than I had been making at the job I lost. I was having terrible trouble even getting interviews.
Then around October a headhunter told me that for all my stating that I'd take a lower salary, the Human resources people generally were trained (not unjustifiably) that that was code for "I'll take a lower salary but once times get better and I can get back to my former salary level, I'll be out of here with no regard for all the training you gave me."
So we created different resumes, one with all my education, and one showing only the Bachelor's degree and the law degree - and I had a job offer that i liked within a few weeks.
-
Then mine would be Sunday Brooks. Sunday was my first dog and Brooks Street was the first I lived on.

DRs Danise and Cillaliz both have good porn star names. I guess there really can't be a similar formula for a drag queen name. How would you come up with something like Berta Denashon or Kitty Litter with a formula?

That's exactly what we were talking about. We talked about not telling about all the degrees one might have in order to get a job. The very same thing happened to a friend of my boss. As soon as he dropped a couple of them from his resume, he had a job not long afterwards. Not making the money he would have liked but it was a job with benefits.

Thanks for the good wishes for the porch repairs. I'm so nervous about it. They are going to take the entire old porch down and rebuild it. They also are going to fix that other spot on the roof that needs repaired.
If they do a good job then we are going to talk about all the other things I want done but this guy also said that what I want done isn't going to cost as much as I think it will. He also feels it should be around twenty five. If that's true then I'm going to have a little dream house when it is all said and done. :)

And MoMA even opened up the Miró and "Here Is Every" tonight too, which was a good thing since there was a true mob(!) at 6:30 when they re-opened the exhibit for Members. Thankfully, I got here around 5:40, and was able to have a wonderful final visit with the Van Gogh exhibit.
*Although, I may have to write a letter to someone in charge regarding how some of the guards treated some of museum-goers, myself included. There was a mix-up with the actual closing time of the museum proper, and some of the guards refused to believe some of the members and other staff who kindly informed them that the museum was still on extended hours today - regardless of the special Members Only hours. Being told/asked, "Didn't you understand what I just said?!?!" is not how one talks to patrons. Otherwise, it's been a great visit. Alas, the Fairbanks film tonight is "The Private Life of Don Juan" which I could have seen, but I really had my heart set on one of the silent movies with the live piano accompaniment. *Additionally, I also should get something to eat soon. Lunch was a while ago.

He isn't going to take a dime until the job is finished. He wants me to see what kind of work he does before we get started on anything else for the house. I think that is very nice and more then fair.

I just read that Pat Harrington is going to be at Ray Courts' autograph show in February, so I guess that is proof positive that he's still alive.

True, but what a shame about Hayley Mills.
-
I hear that the soundtrack for the one of Hayley's best films, THE TWISTED NERVE is going to be released very very soon. Isn't that ironic?

Well not necessarily....I think they still plan to sit up a table for Beverly Garland.

Wife Sandy and I will be traveling back to Austin on Tuesday to check on the progress of the new house and to meet with various vendors. We'll be there for a week.
On Saturday (10), I'll be doing a signing at Borders.
That makes it a business trip.

DR Druxy, nice to combine business & pleasure. Have a wonderful book signing & vibes all is well with the house.

Am in the midst of watching a Punjabi movie called MERA PIND (2008) which is the latest film of singer Harbhajan Mann (one of my favorite singers). The film is the typical patriotic punjab story about how, even if you go away to Canada and live a westernized life, you shouldn't forget your love for you birth country.

My 50-year Garfield High School reunion is going to be in Seattle this coming summer.
Depending on how settled we are in Austin by that point and what else I have going, maybe I will.

I hope Mr. B works out for you as well as Marvelous Matt has been for DR Jeanne.
Well, I bet he's no Krafty Keith.
der Brucer
Speaking of Marvelous Matt...I am now in need of a carpenter. I was in the downstairs when I noticed that it looked like the wall behind the toilet had some bubbles in the drywall. Like someone had painted over water damage.....That isn't a surprise they painted over all sorts of stuff here. Anyway, so I touched it with a screwdriver and it went right through it. I soon discovered that there a strip that's totaled. It's only about 12" by 8" but there's no way I can fix it.
So, I may be calling another client who is a finish carpenter. I've seen his work history and it looks good. At least he has years and years of experience. Just yesterday he said he'd be glad to do any work I need. Well, I know that didn't work out the last time, but this is a different person and well, I need the help. So, Monday I've got to do some work for him and when I call him to tell him about it, I think I'll ask. It's so hard to find someone who will do small jobs.
In the meantime. I am stopping work on the bathroom. At least I've gotten this far. Once the wall is repaired getting it finished will be a breeze.
-
DR JRand, did you order your copy of DOSTANA? Mine arrived today.
-
Ok, I know you folks are NOT going to believe me but this just happened.
Yesterday, I went to the vet to get Sheena's Heartguard. I talked with the gal at the front desk about Bear and she asked if I was going to get another dog. I told her I really wasn't planning on getting one but I felt that if there was a dog out there it would find me.
Well, I just heard Sheena carrying on outside so went to see what the heck was going on. Well, it was a male boxer, very skinny at the dog pen.
I went out the front door and he came right to me, well, past me and went right into the house! I shooed him into the back yard and he and Sheena are having a ball playing!
-
DR JRand, did you order your copy of DOSTANA? Mine arrived today.
Oh...I forgot.....I will do that tomorrow.
-
Boxers are better than briefs, DR DANISE.
DR CILLA LIZ - maybe you should audition for one of them home makeover shows.....it might be fun.
-
I can't take him to the vet tomorrow because they are closed. I guess i shall have to make some posters and see if someone is missing a dog. In the mean time, I guess Sheena will have a playmate.
-
Boxers are better than briefs, DR DANISE.
DR CILLA LIZ - maybe you should audition for one of them home makeover shows.....it might be fun.
I've considered "rate my space" and maybe I'll get the free makeover!!
-
He does have a pink collar on--way to tight for my liking. I couldn't even put a finger between his neck and it but it was full of sand-spurs. I wonder if someone dropped him off. No tags at all. Not fixed either.
-
Does Sheena seem to like Mr. Boxer? Maybe it is destiny!
-
Does Sheena seem to like Mr. Boxer?
Very much so. He's very friendly.
-
Did you loosen his collar? Does he look like he's had food lately?
-
In that case, I hope you do not locate the owner! ;D
-
They're running all around the backyard even though it's dark. Not fighting, just playing. But then Sheena seems to get along very well with the boxers at the dog park. In fact, when I thought about getting another dog, I considered getting a boxer.
As you say, this might be fate.
-
I shall now watch Graham Norton and then DR T!!
DR CILLA LIZ.....that would be GRAND!!!!
DR MBARNUM did you get your copies of VHJ and SCARLET today? I don't know if these are my contributor's copies or the copies I paid for last summer.
-
Did you loosen his collar? Does he look like he's had food lately?
Not to worry I did that and gave him food and water. He really needed a drink. He almost drank the whole bowl. He and Sheena are to busy playing for him to eat but he looks like he could use a good meal or two. He is very skinny. I can see all of his ribs.
-
DR JRand, I'm not going to do it with the rooms I'm working on now. The bathroom just needs a little drywall repair and the other room just needs a little trim and finish work once the carpet is put in.
-
LOL....that reminds me of the lady who wrote Dear Abby and said "Since you last heard from me I have had all my back teeth taken out and a new stove and refrigerator put in."

Maybe 2009 will be a lucky year for you... vibes that it's true~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, I put one of Bear's old leather collars on him and took him out side. There's a dog house in the pen that he can sleep in for tonight. I don't want to go to bed with a strange dog in the house. I set a bowl of water and food inside the pen as well. He should be ok for tonight.
We'll see if I get someone knocking on my door tomorrow to claim him. If not, I will take him to the vet on Monday night to see if he has a chip. I'll run an ad on Craigs List about him and if no one claims him by the end of next week, I'll take him and have him fixed.
Just when I had made my mind up to having one dog.....
-
Oh and if someone does show up, I'm going to let them keep the collar. No dog should have something that tight around their neck and with sand spurs to boot.
-
DR Danise, sometimes you don't choose them, they choose you. That's how I got Boo! She had a collar at the time too.
-
I was thinking that someone might actually get their Twisted Nerve today, but I guess because I got them to the post office around four-thirty it probably didn't really go anywhere till this morning.
-
I am watching a rather insane but surprisingly enjoyable 70s action film.
-
Oh and if someone does show up, I'm going to let them keep the collar. No dog should have something that tight around their neck and with sand spurs to boot.
Bet he was happy when you took the old collar off of him
-
DR Danise there are places to look for lost dog adds. I have also heard that the scanners at the market can read these chips ;)
I hope it all works out for the best. I think it is great Sheena gets along so well with Boxers. I'm not sure the majority of them like Bernese Mountain Dogs, not with our experience.
-

Call me "Mr. Cellophane":
I posted to Haines His Way / Daily Discussions / Re: SOLID on: December 10, 2008, 02:05:10 PM
I know there are some fans of the film "Auntie Mame" on this forum, and I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that a wonderful thing has happened: Bronislau Kaper's sparkling score is now available on CD from the Film Score Monthly label.
Previously available only on LP, in either mono or stereo, the score has long been out of print and highly collectible, especially in Stereo. FSM got access to the Warner Brothers recording master and has produced the best sound ever for the glorious score.
An added bonus, for me anyway, is that "Auntie Mame" is paired with Max Steiner's gorgeous score for "Rome Adventure."

So... Since I didn't catch it tonight, should I attend the next screening of "The Private Life of Don Juan" at MoMA?

LOL! Well, I guess there would be work for Keith under that name on some niche website.

I'm back from seeing MILK with my friend Chris. His first viewing, my second, and I enjoyed it as much this time. After the movie, we got a bite to eat and now I'm home and ready for bed.

DR LAURA I have the Wav file for this song....which would be faboo.

DR JOSE thanks for the additional info on DOCTOR ATOMIC. The DVD is about 40 dollars and several Amazon reviews say it's a LOT of close ups and not many full stage or body shots....so to speak.
I REALLY liked the design elements - sets and costumes....and projections from the MET production....and all of the guys....maybe I will wait for that DVD to come out.
I don't understand why any of my local PBS outlets are not showing DOCTOR ATOMIC. Instead, we are getting endless repeats of the David Foster GREAT PERFOMANCES broadcast.
-
Isn't the Stinking Rose in L.A. by the Beverly Center?
-
The now-controversial garlic diet required no change in eating habits, just adding a dozen cloves of garlic per day.
You don't actually lose weight, but you look thinner from a distance.
I wonder if the next upgrade of the site will include sound effects?

Well, today (starting at about 11:00 am), we finally struck the set of Reefer Madness! The Musical. We took apart the entire set, put as much of it into the van as we could, brought it to the storage unit, then went back for the last of the set pieces. I got to the theater a little after 11:00 am and didn't get home until about 5:45 pm. It was one VERY long day and my back hurts a bit (but I'll be fine).
Now I'm just watching some TV and catching up on all of today's posts.
-
Gratuitous Post #400! ;D
-
In honor of the Stinking Rose restaurant, here's a very old joke
An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.
The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.'
The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?'
The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love?
You know... The one that's red and has thorns.'
'Do you mean a rose?'
'Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?'

So... Do you think it's possible for a cyber-dog to be reincarnated as a real dog? ;)
-
Or is that my drag name? Well, anyway....
Hmm... I think your name drag name would be:

Maybe you should ask Cheeky Monkey...

DR Jose, I've been meaning to thank you again for the MOMA website link. Searching through it, I was able to learn more about what I considered one of the most intriguing works in the contemporary exhibit: "Untitled" (Death by Gun) (http://www.moma.org/collection/browse_results.php?object_id=61825)
-
I got all the wallpaper stripped off the bathroom walls downstairs, but in the process managed to burn my wrist on a lightbulb. That sucker was hot! I put some water on it but waited until I was done to dress it. It's worse than I thought it was so I'm not sure how much more I'll do down there this weekend
OUCH!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
The wrist is feeling better. It's covered and has medicine on it. It's VERY red but hasn't blistered yet, so I'm hoping it won't
In other news, being the stubborn person I am, I think I figured out how to fix the wall behind the toilet that is damaged. I really should thank Juan. Not only did he leave a really cool step ladder, but he left some pieces of drywall, tape and mud that is still soft. It may take me awhile to do it, but tomorrow I will attempt to fix the wall. It's really hard to reach, but if I can get back there, I'll do it. If not I'll call the carpenter on Monday. I mean, it's already damaged so I may as well try to fix it before throwing in the towel.
-
Or I should say throwing in the trowel
DR Dan (the Man) - You're welcome.
I actually went back through "Here Is Every" again tonight after I had viewed the Van Gogh, and I went ahead and picked up another copy of "Untitled (Death by Gun)". -Did you take a copy for yourself?
Of course, I got a couple of strange looks from some of the other people in the gallery, but once they realized that the guards weren't stopping me, they went ahead and picked up a copy too. It reminded me a lot of a piece at the Art Institute of Chicago which consists of a pile of hard candy seemingly dumped into a corner of one of the galleries. Patrons are "encouraged" to take a piece for themselves - the pile gets replenished regularly. IIRC, it's meant to represent the circle of life, and is sort of a memorial to those who have died of AIDS. In any case...
On the subway ride home, a young gentleman sat next to me, and asked if he could read what I was holding since it was basically in front of him. "I'm not going to touch it, I just want to see what it is." -I had rolled up the poster with the print side out. I said, "OK, but..." then proceeded to explain what it was all about, and that it was not exactly "light reading". He actually got it, and we ended up talking about handgun control. He mentioned that the topic hit very close to home for him, since shootings were a normal occurrence in the neighborhood where he grew up.
Intriguing indeed!
-
What an evening of viewing I've had. And much of it was with company.
I began by finishing THE LADY VANISHES. Such a wonderful film; one of the greats.
-
Around the time that was finishing up, best friend John called to say he had a free evening and wanted to come over to watch some Blu-ray movies. So, he told me he'd be here around 8:30.
Waiting for him to get here, I watched one of Basil Rathbone's marvelous Sherlock Holmes adventures - THE PEARL OF DEATH. Always such a pleasure watching those very entertaining movies.
-
Or I should say throwing in the trowel
I need to type faster. ::)
-
Still waiting for him to arrive, I watched an NCIS episode. This had to do with a marine attacked and eaten by a bear in the woods. At least, it appeared that way. The real story was much more complex.
-
Johnnie finally got here, and I had a large selection of Blu-ray movies I knew he hadn't seen, and I let him pick. He went for precisely the one I figured he'd go for: MAMMA MIA! So, I watched it again with him. He's seen the stage show three or four times, so watching the movie version was a no brainer. He really liked it even though he did notice all the changes from stage to screen.
-
Tonight, I watched a dvd of the documentary HAIR: LET THE SUN SHINE IN. I was initially disappointed, since it clearly was not about the nuts and bolts creation of the show. It's more about the phenomenon of HAIR, how its creation grew out of the times and its effect on audiences. And being very much a fan of 60's counter culture, I guess that's what gradually drew me into it and I started enjoying it. It's a short film--probably less than an hour--but there's an hour of additional interview footage with the likes of Milos Forman and Ben Vereen (I didn't finish this additional material 'cause I needed to shut off the DVD player so I could set up Tivo to record THE 5000 FINGERS OF DR T.)
If you are any way interested in HAIR, I would recommend it.
-
When that was over, he wanted to see a James Bond movie in high def, and again, I let him make the choice. I would have chosen FROM RUSSIE WITH LOVE, but he chose LIVE AND LET DIE, so we watched that, too. He was most impressed with the high def picture and repurposed DTS-HD MA 5.1 sound.
So it was a fun night of viewing. About halfway through the 007 movie, I remembered that I had not set out the HARRY POTTER movies on Blu-ray as part of his choices, and I paused the film to ask him if that would have changed his choices for the evening if I had remembered to set them out. (He's read six of the seven books, but hasn't seen any of the films.) He said no, but I told him we needed to systematically begin showing him the films in HD, so maybe that's something we can work on in 2009.
No, neither my sister nor I took a copy. I sort of suspected that taking a copy was part of the artwork and I suddenly felt uncomfortable about knowingly participating. I donno--I just felt weird about it.
I'm pretty sure that the candy thing in Chicago was by the same artist. He also died from the effects of AIDS.
-
So...
The galleries were practically deserted after about 7:45pm or so. It was a true mob scene when I queued back up at 6:30 in the lobby. People were shoving people aside to make sure they got in "first". After getting "nudged" a few times, and finally just spoke out loud, "Everybody slow down. You will all get in. You have three hours." I'm not sure it did them any good, but it did help me. ;)
Of course, I just ended up heading directly up to the Atrium to sit in the middle of
"Pipilotti Rist: Pour Your Body Out (7354 Cubic Meters)" (http://www.moma.org/exhibitions/exhibitions.php?id=9760).
It was truly "groovy" just lying back and being a part of it all. I even think Monkey enjoyed it. ;)
Heading downstairs now to go to bed.
Good night!
My sister and I loved the Pink Room (as we called it), but I have to admit that I was feeling a bit dizzy in there (probably due to a drop in my blood sugar as much as the effect of the videos.) I have to check to see if any of my pics are worth posting.
Actually, part of the reason I finally left the museum - and why I did not stick around for "The Private Life of Don Juan" was because my blood sugar was dropping too. -Or had dropped. It was already close to 8:00, and the last time I had had anything to eat was around Noon.
*However, I did make one more quick pass through the Van Gogh since it was almost empty. ;)
I'm listening to a really fun three CD set by four French girl singers called Les Parisiennes, with arrangements by the great and grand Claude Bolling.
And I think I'll take a nice long shower.
Taking a nice long shower always helps me sleep well. And, conversely, sleeping well always helps me take a nice long shower.
There's a lot of banjo and tack piano on this CD. And then it suddenly veers into faux rock and roll circa 1964. But I like it.
You need to get each and every Quarteto em Cy CD available, including the two brand spanking new Japanese reissues of their two Warner albums under their Americanized name The Girls from Bahia. You will be in aural heaven.
Mostly arranged by Oscar Castro-Neves, I might add.
Okay, Jose - here's what just happened. I added the image to "downloads" - now I have in my doc a little thing called downloads and also next to it something that says pdfs, where that stuff goes to. I just nuked both out of my dock and I want them back. I found the downloads folder but it will not go back in the dock. What do I do? And I'd like that pdf folder back there, too. Any clews?
I HATE when things just go "poof" out of the dock. So, I await the solution.
We've arrived in Anaheim and have since had dinner at the House of Blues. The drive down was a bit un-nerving as there were a LOT of people on I-5 and of course, none of which seemed to know how to drive. Really annoying. Anyhow, to bed in preparation for a commando-style day in the parks. (and that statement is NOT what you all are thinking) :P
GLENN GOLDMAN, OWNER OF BOOK SOUP, DIES AT 58
Goldman opened the Sunset Boulevard bookstore in 1975 and Friday announced his decision to sell it.
Glenn Goldman, whose independent bookstore, Book Soup, became a Sunset Boulevard landmark known for its tall, teetering stacks and mazes of shelves crammed with titles that attracted entertainment and tourist industry clientele, died Saturday. He was 58.
Goldman died of pancreatic cancer just a day after announcing his decision to sell the legendary store, which opened in 1975 and offered an eccentric mix of works ranging from Star Maps to rare collectibles such as Helmut Newton's $1,500 photo extravaganza, "SUMO."
Goldman, who looked like anything but the stereotype of a big-city bookseller in his casual blue jeans, pullover shirts and Nike athletic shoes, was regarded as a superior businessman who prospered in an increasingly capricious market.
"Glenn brought a highly individual face to the Los Angeles bookselling business," said Doug Dutton, who closed his own Brentwood bookstore, Dutton's, in May. "He was a man of strong tastes and not shy about voicing his opinions. But even if you didn't agree with them, you admired the integrity and honesty of the man behind them."
Jonathan Kirsch, an author and frequent customer of Book Soup, said: "Every bookstore has its own personality. His store had the hippest image in town." Founded across from Tower Records and the original Spago restaurant -- and bookended by head shops and strip joints -- "Book Soup was ground zero for a certain cool West Hollywood cultural vibe," Kirsch said.
…
In the late 1980s, he moved the store to more spacious digs a few blocks down the boulevard, where it quickly developed a reputation for art, photography, film and music books, and high-profile signing events featuring authors and celebrities including Gore Vidal, James Ellroy, Mikal Gilmore, Edward Albee, Robert Wagner and Tom Stoppard.
You somehow "deleted" a Stack by dragging it out of your Dock. To add a Stack - or add something to a Stack - you simply have to drag it to the RIGHT SIDE of your Dock. -Then drag the other items on top of it. -You should see a light gray divider next to the Recycle Bin - that's what separates the Stacks from the Apps.
You will be in aural heaven.
Not to be confused with "oral heaven".
They are a part of BK's fan club.
Don't you hate it when the theme song for "Where Were You When the Lights Went Out" gets into your head and you can't shake it?
Since I've never heard the song, it can't get stuck in my head. ;)
Got the download folder back in the dock - but I can't find the pdf folder - when I search pdf in utilities it gives me every pdf on my computer, but I can't drag all those down there. Hmmm. But at least the downloads are back down there.
Are you searching in "Utilities"? Not the right place to look for it. Simply open up a Finder window, then in the Search box there (upper right hand corner) type in the name of the folder. -If you type in PDF it will bring up all your .PDF files, but if your sort by "type", then you should see the Folder - that is if "PDF" was part of the name of the folder.
OH! BUT WAIT!!!
DO THIS FIRST:
Open a Finder window.
Search for: "About Stacks.pdf" (ignore the quotes)
That should bring up the PDF file that will tell you about Stacks and the default folders it creates.
*I shall be sending you my Invoice in the morning.
Well, it's official...Relative unknown to take lead in BBC's 'Dr Who' (http://www.comcast.net/articles/tv/20090103/EU.Britain.Doctor.Who/).
LONDON — The BBC says little-known actor Matt Smith (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1741002/) will take over the title role in the long-running sci-fi series "Doctor Who."
The 26-year-old is the 11th actor to star in one of Britain's most popular TV shows — and the youngest.
Smith has appeared on the London stage and starred in the political TV drama "Party Animals," but is a relative unknown. The new role will make him a major star in Britain, where "Doctor Who" regularly draws 10 million viewers an episode.
"Doctor Who" was first broadcast in 1963 and centers on a time-traveling alien known only as The Doctor who can regenerate into new human bodies.
Current star David Tennant plans to leave the show after four special episodes this year. The BBC said Saturday that Smith will take over in 2010.
Question:
Does anyone have suggestions of songs to be sung in a drag show?
About 10 or 12 years ago, a friend of mine wanted to do some drag and I suggested the first two songs. He liked them very much. I also love the last song. :)
