Well, you've read the notes, the notes were musical, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home in the key of G.
-
And the word of the day is: LARGESS!
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to former dear reader tomovoz.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to Tomovoz!!
-
Good middle of the night.
-
I can't sleep.
-
I don't like waking up earlier than Meredith Viera.
-
I don't actually know when Meredith Viera wakes up.
-
Happy Birthday to Tomovoz
-
Just in case Tomovoz checks in today,
Happy Happy Birthday!!
-
Just in case Vixmom pops in today:
I have noticed that Christmas is much more enjoyable the more I cut down on things. Like Christmas cards. And decorating (no more outside lights). And mailing packages (I now use Amazon).
-
I have noticed that Christmas is much more enjoyable the more I cut down on things.
For the past few years I have been following this advice. It works wonders! :)
-
Good morning, all! I am awake and I am moving about the apartment. I have several things to accomplish today but I have not decided which options to take. I most definitely have to be at the Men's Chorus rehearsal in the Village tonight and I have some work this morning on THE MOST HAPPY FELLA to finish it up. I may end up at the NYPL around noon.
Movie stunts? Who can think at 7:30 am?
-
TOD:
Stunts today don't impress me that much, primarily because they are usually accomplished via cgi/green screen.
However, the one stunt sequence that has always stuck in my mind is the spectacular train robbery scene in HOW THE WEST WAS WON.
I don't recall his name, but Yvonne De Carlo's husband, who was a stunt man on that movie, lost his leg as a result of an accident during that sequence.
-
Happy birthday, Tommy!
-
Happy birthday, Tommy.
And breathtaking stunts on film? Harold Lloyd back in the days of the silents did some incredible stunts. Loved the wing dancing in "Flying Down to Rio" when I was a kid, and I still enjoyed it when I watched the movie a few weeks ago. In that tradition, there are the stunts, including a wing dancing scene, in "The Stunt Man," which remains my favorite movie about moviemaking.
-
My father would have turned 88 today; I've been thinking about him quite a lot in the past several days.
Speaking of family, I sent my brothers an email about the property over a week ago and neither one of them has responded. I cannot believe that bitch Lady M didn't see it, so I am not certain what's with the silence.
-
Monday morning greetings! Our household is just beginning to stir - everyone is still pretty tired from the festivities of the last several weeks.
I've toasted some pecans and the shortening is softening for me to make coffee cakes today - 2 for the AAUW silent auction tonight and one for my family. Our house will be smelling good in a while!
-
DR Elmore - {{{{{Hugs}}}}} as you remember your father today. Yesterday would have been Harriet's 93rd birthday and she's been on my mind a lot lately.
-
Monday!
I enjoyed the airplanes flying in HELL's ANGELS and THE HUNTERS.
I liked the car chase in WHAT'S UP DOC?
I like "Cary Grant" getting chased by the plane and then almost run over by the truck in NORTH BY NORTHWEST.

And the word of the day is: LARGESS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: I'VE GOT THE WORLD ON A STRING
-
Good morning!
Foggy this morning, but it felt about 20 degrees warmer than previous mornings over the last few days. My walk was very enjoyable, but I felt half asleep doing it. I didn't want to get out of bed.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMOVOZ
-
I meant to mention yesterday that I caught a few minutes of IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME on TCM-HD yesterday, and it looked stunning! Technicolor so gorgeous it made my teeth hurt, and a supersharp, dimensional picture that was just ravishing. I WISH I had had the presence of mind to record it so I could have watched it from the beginning. I'll keep my eyes out for a repeat.
-
I plan to work today. The movie is Mike Judge's EXTRACT on Blu-ray. It did terribly at the box-office and doesn't seem to have gotten very good reviews, but I'll make my own mind up later today. There doesn't appear to be a wealth of bonus material, so I may be able to finish it all this afternoon.
-
Notes on Tonight's TV:
Don't forget there is a new episode of THE CLOSER tonight.
CBS has an all-new slate of comedies and CSI: MIAMI.
NBC begins a new a capella singing competition tonight.
HOUSE is a repeat, but LIE TO ME is a new episode.
ABC has a Jennifer Hudson Christmas special on that's new, but CASTLE is a repeat.
-
I don't know if it qualifies as a stunt, but the theatre sword fight between Stewart Granger and Mel Ferrer in Scaramouche is still a stunning duel to watch.
-
I thought some of the stunts for Bruce WIllis in DIE HARD were pretty spectacular.
-

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to former DR Tomovoz
-
TOD:
How about some of the fantastic stunts performed by Yakima Canutt (e.g. STAGECOACH).
They were the real thing.
-
And the word of the day is: LARGESS!
I find it most unseemly to be discussing the size of anyone's ess.
-
Yes, happiest of birthdays to my fellow Lani fan, Tomovoz, sender of most beautiful calendars. :)
-
TOD:
How about some of the fantastic stunts performed by Yakima Canutt (e.g. STAGECOACH).
They were the real thing.
His siblings Tacoma and Puyallup Canutt were also excellent.
(A little Washingtonian humor, you may thank me later).
-
Can you Canutt?
-
I just wanted to mention that the reprint of Meredith Willson's BUT HE DOESN'T KNOW THE TERRITORY is on sale in Amazon's Gold Box today for less than $10. It's a first hand account of the road to bringing the musical to Broadway.
-
Can you Canutt?
Kublai Khan but Immanuel Kant.
(With apologies to Ogden Nash).
-
TOD:
How about some of the fantastic stunts performed by Yakima Canutt (e.g. STAGECOACH).
They were the real thing.
Yes indeed. He's certainly one of the greats.
The chariot race in BEN-HUR is certainly also worth mentioning.
-
I will now hop off-line so I can get cleaned up for lunch out today with best friend John. Before he gets here I should have some time to continue working on the Photoshop project. I didn't get a chance to touch it all weekend.
WBBL.
-
Happy Birthday to Tomovoz!

Hugs and vibes to DRs Elmore and Ginny.! ~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you've ever wondered about Google Voice service, HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4Q9MJdT5Ds) is an explanation of how it works...

What is it that Charlton Heston said?
Paraphrasing: "Yakima said that all I had to worry about was staying in the chariot. He would guarantee that I would win the race."

I can't believe that the Los Angeles Film Critics voted THE HURT LOCKER as Best Picture of 2009.
It was okay, but "Best Picture"!?!

-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I wonder if The New York Times and/or Ben Brantley will correct a somewhat - well, to me at least - error in his review of A Little Night Music?
-
Is anyone else getting bombarded by Facebook friend requests from Russian sounding women this morning?
I'm not. But, then again, I'm not a lesbian.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOMMY!!!!!

Can you Canutt?
Canoe Canoe?

Birthday wishes to former DR Tomovoz - you are missed!

DR DAW - thank you for this. Listening to the broadcast is one of our favorite holiday traditions. This year, DH Richard will be presiding over his own Lessons & Carols service on Christmas Eve.
-
Well, I just re-checked the New York Times website, and still no correction... ;)
Actually, it really is sort of an interesting error/oversight/mistake:
"The show is punctuated by the choral commentary of four lieder singers, who are always asking, “Remember, darling?”"
There are five Liebeslieders, not four.
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
Hmm...
Leelee SobieskiChloe Sevigny in "The Brown Bunny"?

::)

*If you have to Google that, DON'T.

*If you have to Google that, DON'T.
Now you tell me.

Actually it looks like it's Chloe Sevigny who did the "stunt," if I'm understanding the reference.

Well, my plan to bake coffee cakes and then go to the grocery have been altered by the fact that I'm short a cup+ of flour. OK, now plan B...bye for now!

You are correct, DR JMK. My original post has been edited accordingly.

Good Afternoon!

Well... I have a couple of errands to run, and since it's a bit warmer outside today, I also just want to get outside for a bit.
Laters...
-
I've finished THE MOST HAPPT FELLA and now I am off to the NYPL. Oy.

Well, there was a Kritzerland bonanza in my mailbox today. Not only did the Elmer Bernstein arrive, but an EXTRA SPECIAL KRITZERLAND SURPRISE awaited me as well. :D :D :D
Thanks, bk!!! ;D
-
And the only people who get the surprise are the people who did as I asked and sent their address.
-
Yes I also received an nice Kritzerland surprise in the mail and I thank MR BK for being so optimistic about my largess.
-
Happy Birthday to former DR TOMovOZ.
Thanks to DR MATTH for the heads up on the Gold Box.
-
Sometimes you get lucky Dept. I ordered the FINIAN'S RAINBOW soundtrack from an Amazon seller. The Collectors' Choice CD goes for about $10 or so. The Rhino Handmade earlier CD release with 3 extra tracks sells for $70-$129. So I had to settle for the CC re-release and paid about $11.
Today I received - yes, dear readers - the Rhino Handmade CD with 3 extra tracks! Merry Christmas to me.
AND at the Wal Mart store this morning, I found a Seagate 500GB external drive for $50.....which is now being loaded with most of my photo, movie, music, and "work" related files.
-
And the only people who get the surprise are the people who did as I asked and sent their address.
A small price to pay to be the smartest looking person in the room.
-
But before I go...
ME TOO! ME TOO!!!
Thank You, Bruce and Kritzerland!!!
:) :)
-
I'm off to be a bookseller until 10pm tonight. Everyone else have a great Monday!
-
Have fun, DRtd!
-
DR GINNY was short a cup of flour.....so I guess it was off to the grocery and THEN baking.
-
It is a sunny and spring like 53 degrees at my house today. Most lovely.
-
DR GINNY was short a cup of flour.....so I guess it was off to the grocery and THEN baking.
Exactly, DR JRand - all is well now and the house smells divine!
-
I, too, received a Kritzerland surprise in the mail today - thank you, BK!

Back from NYPL and a bit pissed that my doctor has not yet returned my phone call from either Friday or this morning.
-
My realtor is driving me insane. That is all.
If you're treated like a patient, you're liable to act like one.
I didn't think then that I was actually sick, and I still don't.
It's a good thing the medical records are sealed and William Arnold can't get a hold of them.
-
How were the Night Music reviews in general.
Whew.....those photos.....Waxworks.
-
The reviews were better than I expected. I love the show and have no urge to see this production.
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
Hmm...
Leelee SobieskiChloe Sevigny in "The Brown Bunny"?
:o

::)
I'd read one article which suggested that that might not have actually been Vincent Gallo in that particular scene with Chloe Sevigny. ::)

Well, there was a Kritzerland bonanza in my mailbox today. Not only did the Elmer Bernstein arrive, but an EXTRA SPECIAL KRITZERLAND SURPRISE awaited me as well. :D :D :D

Ooo! I can't wait to find out what it is! :D
-
I....Have No Urge
That is the title of the next volume of my memoirs.
-
Hello, everyone.
All I can say is THIS KID IS WORN OUT!! Oy!
I'm getting SERVER CONNECTION problems.
-
I, too, received the Kritzerland surprise, and I'm VERY appreciative. What a lovely holiday thought and completely unexpected!
Thank you SO much!
-
The reviews were better than I expected. I love the show and have no urge to see this production.
My love for Angela Lansbury and the works of Stephen Sondheim knows no bounds, but I saw the original, and I, too, would not have a burning desire to see this at current Broadway prices.
-
OK, that post finally went through.
I'm now at DF&H#2's house, along with my stuff. DF&H#2 was very kind about helping me transport said stuff yesterday. I think he was surprised at how much I had; well, I was surprised myself. WHERE DOES IT ALL COME FROM?? I've now repacked some of it and put it into storage here at his house.
-
I suffered through EXTRACT when I got in from lunch. I can't remember a film in a long time that didn't have a single character that I cared about or wasn't annoyed or disgusted by. This was a total embarrassment. The people who aren't complete morons in the film are so weak that they're easily led astray by others. EVERY SINGLE PERSON. I spent the entire 90 minutes screaming expletives at the screen.
-
I also received a sparkling holiday gift from Kritzerland this afternoon. Thank you so much, BK! That was very kind of you and one of my favorite companies.
Still no word from my doctor. Damn!
-
There were only three bonus features on the disc: a 10-minute sing-the-praises of the director featurette, 5 extended scenes, and one deleted scenes.
Oh, and three trailers for upcoming Blu-ray releases. That was it!
I was finished with the entire disc by 3:20.
-
I skimmed through today's OLTL and ATWT. Nothing on OLTL at all, but ATWT at least had more of Meg going bats and Damien loving every minute of it.
-
Tonight I'm going to pull out another unopened HD-DVD and watch it: U-591. Can't wait to see the film in HD; it's always been a popcorn favorite of mine.
-
The NY Film Critics also picked THE HURT LOCKER as Best Film.
-
I can't tell you how much I hate moving. I'm usually pretty organized, have a place for things, and know where they are. Each move is a disruption, and each time I must get organized all over again. Last week I took advantage of one the the many retail promotions, this one at Office Depot, to purchase five plastic file boxes. Sturdier than cardboard boxes and I'll use them for storage, as well. (PS, I have a lot of files.)
-
CALL-FROM-DOCTOR VIBES for DR ELMORE!
-
DAW, in a photo you posted recently it looked like you've lost some weight. Is that correct? If so, congrats!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to TOMOVOZ!
-
I, too, think less is more when it comes to Christmas. In my case, waaayyyy less. ;)
-
Must get some lunch.
TTFN from this very tired DR.
-
DR MATTH I ordered Mr Willson's book. Thanks for the heads up on the low price!
-
DR JEANNE - My next move will be to the cemetery, if my plans hold out - so those holding my wake and garage sale can deal with all of the necessary and important stuff I have collected.
-
I did move 13 GB of information from my hard drive to my new Seagate Desktop Extension Drive. And I still have over 450 GB of space left over there.
-
DR MATTH I ordered Mr Willson's book. Thanks for the heads up on the low price!
I'm looking forward to it, too. I just got the book on LADY IN THE DARK that someone here recommended the other day. Can't wait to start reading it tonight.
-

i'm glad you have now moved into a warm home. i'm sure you a rather weary of all this moving & hope you can stay put for awhile.

Page Five Dance!!!
-
The AFI named its Top Ten TV shows of 2009. They are (in alphabetical order):
The Big Bang Theory, Big Love, Friday Night Lights, Glee, Mad Men, Modern Family, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Nurse Jackie, Party Down and True Blood.
Five of them I watch their entire season of episodes. BIG BANG I watch a few times a year. I've never even heard of PARTY DOWN.
-
i hope elmore's doctor calls before leaving for the day.
-
Back from the meeting. Anyone who hasn't sent me an address, should. The end of this week is probably the cut-off for me sending anything before Xmas.
-
Waiting for Cason to arrive.
-
Is the special surprise from Kritzerland meant to be saved for Christmas?
-
I'm hopping off-line now and will start to work on the writing part of the work project. Then, I'll head back down for U-591. Then tonight's episode of THE CLOSER.
WBBL.
-
While I was at it, I got the SOUTH PACIFIC Blu Ray that has been discussed favorably here on HHW. It was only about $20.
-
Speaking of family, I sent my brothers an email about the property over a week ago and neither one of them has responded. I cannot believe that bitch Lady M didn't see it, so I am not certain what's with the silence.
Too bad you can't make them buy you out of your share NOW, based on what they think (or expect) that they will eventually be able to get for it. :-\
-
Is the special surprise from Kritzerland meant to be saved for Christmas?
Mine wasn't!
-
MR BK can you identify the October 20, 1958, ABC program called BARBARY COAST with Mr Larry Pennell and Miss Allison Hayes. It definitely looks like a ZIV production, but I can't find anything on the inner web about it....save the photos on EBAY. And since they are 4x5 and not television publicity size 7x9 - they must be reprints. The number on the bottom is no help either.
It is a mystery. Maybe Perry Mason can help.
-
my wake and garage sale
How efficient! :P
-
The Monday ABC schedule for the fall of 1958 was:
7:30 - Polka Go Round, obviously appealing to the intellectuals
8:30 - Bold Journey, a filmed travel log program
9 - The Voice of Firestone, classical music performed by Rise Stevens, and others
9:30 - Anybody Can Play, but nobody wanted to
10 - This Is Music, or so they say
10:30 - John Daly & the News
-
my wake and garage sale
How efficient! :P
I think it will be great!
-
Good Evening!
Greetings from the Meatpacking District/Chelsea Apple Store. Ah, free WiFi.

I'm just taking a short breather here after taking a nice stroll up on the High Line. Even in the not-so-dead of winter, it's still makes me smile.

Cindy Williams said it was here.
-
I think I will watch the movie version of FINIAN'S RAINBOW now.
-
Maybe I will get TCM HD after January 1....
-
Speaking of family, I sent my brothers an email about the property over a week ago and neither one of them has responded. I cannot believe that bitch Lady M didn't see it, so I am not certain what's with the silence.

I deliberately dropped my asking price $100,000 below my share of what they were asking before the crash, but Macbeth would ony buy out my share if I dropped my asking price even lower so that he could gloat over shafting me for the rest of his pathetic life. I bend but I won't let the ass break me.
And on another unpleasant front, around 5:15 I called to leave a THIRD message for my doctor. I was put on hold and then told she wants me to make an appointment. So, on Wednesday at 11:15 I have to go in, all for a damned prescription. She's so far on the shitlist, I doubt she'll ever get off it.
Now I have to go to a Men's Chorus rehearsal to hear the band. I'm worried I'll run into Ms Clark there since she's the guest star next Sunday and in her own mind.

;)
-
JRand, mayb BARBARY COAST was a pilot. I can't find anything about it either.
-
Thank you Mr. Kimmel for the loverly surprise!
-
And here I am wearing the loverly surprise
-
And the person in the photo with me is the loverly Kevin Hall, relatively new poster to HHW. He spent the day helping out at the Bag Packing and he came over for a visit because we stopped early today. He had time before seeing Brent's show this evening. We had a very nice chat and we decided to take a picture of him and I at the tree so I decided to put on my new wardrobe piece.
-
Speaking of bag packing, things have gone so well that we will be completely finished sometime tomorrow. Kevin was a big help today and our thanks to him for pitching in so fully. I look forward to seeing him again when he comes to New York.
-
How great that DR Kevin H helped today, and what a great photo! Thanks to you both! :D
-
And here is a final bag packing picture. You recognize Anthony and me and here are some other volunteers surrounded by some of the finished work.
-
George, thanks for the very funny card!
-
And here I am wearing the loverly surprise
Aw, man. You should have posted SPOILER. I haven't opened mine yet.
-
I love the way Kevin H. jumped right in and became part of the family so fast!
-
I will be scarce here Tue and Wed as I will be at my mother's for our annual holiday baking extravaganza.
-
My Bad!!!
-
Yep, it was great to see him help out without thinking I was some kind of lunatic!
-

George, thanks for the very funny card!
My pleasure! I sent out several different kinds of cards (to everyone whose address I have), so not everyone got a funny one. :)
-
I've never heard of Barbary Coast - probably a one-off pilot?
-
Ben looks very smart in his Kritzerland ensemble.
-
We're putting postage on packages and almost through. Then it's on to prepping the bigger boxes.
-
I am officially pooped!
-
I will try to stay up until 9 or 10pm because if I go to bed earlier I will be up at 4:30 and I need to sleep.
-
I love the way Kevin H. jumped right in and became part of the family so fast!
i agree. it was a delightful surprise to learn that was kevin in the photo with ben:)

have fun :)

I have finally started to get the rest of the photos downloaded form my trip, so that I can start to make a photo album of them.
Ths small little boat on the right was the floating home of Princess Stephanie for the time that I was in Monte Carlo (she wanted to be close to me). The yacht is about 200 to 250 feet long.

The tomb of Princess Grace. Someone rather rudely put a vase of flowers right in the middle of the stone so that a good picture was impossible.

Funny you should mention Perry Mason.
Alison Hayes only appeared in one pilot (According to my source) and story was based on a novel by A.A. Fair who was better known as Erle Stanley Gardner who wrote Perry Mason.
The show was called Cool and Lam.
There was only one television series called The Barbary Coast. It started as a tv movie with William Shatner and the recently late Dennis Cole. When the series was produced Cole was replaced by the late Doug McClure
The only episode of a tv series that they appeared was a series called "The Case of the Dangerous Robin" and the episode was called "Design For Death" 8 May 1961 (Season 1, Episode 30)
They also did General Hospital, but I can't tell if it was at the same time or not.

Very nice, TCB!

Wow! My mail just came and I got a great package from Kritzerland. Thank you, BK.

Overheard at the zoo:
Little Girl: Daddy, I need to go potty.
Daddy: Just pee in your diaper.
Little Girl: What? There's no toilet?
Daddy: It's too far away.
Little Girl: There has to be a toilet.
Daddy: Just pee in your diaper.
And THAT is the difference between mothers and fathers.
Overheard at the zoo (when I attend):
Little Boy: Grandpa, I need to go potty.
Grandpa: Just pee behind that tree..
Little Boy: OK
Grandpa: I said BEHIND the tree.
Little Boy: Oh, OK.
Gandpa: Kids!
And THAT is the difference between sons and daughters

I'm just taking a short breather here after taking a nice stroll up on the High Line. Even in the not-so-dead of winter, it's still makes me smile.
I am going to go on the highline before the year is over.

Love the pix form TCB and Ben. That's great that Kevin joined the gang of bag ladies and gentlemen.

We went to a marvelous old-fashioned afternoon wedding:
Disney Married Pixar!
"The Princess And the Frog"
Ron Clements : Writer, Director (Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules)
John Lassester: Producer (Finding Nemo, WALL-E, Up!)
And the grand star of the afternoon: Randy Newman! Great score, great songs! I'd guess two Oscar nominatied songs.
This film has the best of Pixar and Disney combined.

speaking of allison hayes, last night we watced 2 of the 7 bat masterson episodes she was in. thank you mbarnum.

Well, we've just had possibly the most stressful afternoon we've had in quite a while. My realtor had been preparing our post-inspection offer and had been making one error after another. In her defense, we have had a plethora of inspections by various entities and it is hard to keep track of them all. Well I finally took it upon myself to type up the repair list since she just couldn't get it right. We were ready to go, except she transposed two numbers on our "price concession in lieu of repair" Offer B, as it were. It was a nice low total but I think they would have done a spit take, LOL. So she got home fixed it, emailed it to me as an attachment and GUESS WHAT?? She had a virus on her computer which embedded itself in the document and I have been absolutely stuck with a dead computer for the past three hours. I'm just barely back now, hanging on by a thread. Vibes please. :)
-
I'm taking a break from editing to watch our CLOSER spots go down during BONES. I noticed that the executive producer of BONES is none other than Stephen Nathan, of THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL fame. I didn't realize he has such a successful career producing shows for teevee.

I'm currently working with Michael Roth, the music supervisor, a long-time Randy Newman collaborator, on the music for our new documentary. (Michael has done a lot of work with Alice Ripley as well.) Since I'm using a lot of Randy's music as a temp track, he's really nailing the Randy style while bringing his own style in as well. It's a kind of crazy collaboration: director in NY, producer in Toronto, editor in Atlanta and composer in LA but so far it's working.

I love my Kritzerland surprise! THANKS BK!
-
Ben looks very smart in his Kritzerland ensemble.
i figured, considering my condition at the time, i didn't need to send my address which i know you have (am i right? we didn't get any mail today). i love the extra big shirt, i can wear it around the house or keith can wear it to the gym-there are always loads of people at the gym to see it.
-
I think I'm back now, finally am firmly online and have Norton up and running again. I have never been hit by a virus like this. It was completely nasty. It shut down all internet access (so that Norton couldn't check its database for the virus), wouldn't let me email, but kept bringing up a webpage for ANOTHER anti-virus program which it said it would solve my problems. Every 3 seconds or so I'd get a nasty error message with a loud electronic clunk noise, and then, just for variety, it occasionally brought up a Viagra ad and for extra charm, a site called Porno.com, I believe. It was horrible. I had to System Restore, which I've never had to do before with any version of Windows I've had.

No, you must send your address - if anyone hasn't, please do so so I can send out your surprise that's not a surprise. Do NOT assume I have it - I may, I may not, but with this mail program I use it's too difficult to find things. So, send addresses.

I've now repacked some of it and put it into storage here at his house.
i'm glad you have now moved into a warm home. i'm sure you a rather weary of all this moving & hope you can stay put for awhile.
Would you believe it? I'm now TOO warm! But it's easier to open a window than bundle up.
Yes, I am VERY tired of moving. This won't be the last; I'm just house-sitting for three weeks. But maybe the next move will be the last for a while.

I had to come here and spend asome time amongst you lovely people

The AFI named its Top Ten TV shows of 2009. They are (in alphabetical order):
The Big Bang Theory, Big Love, Friday Night Lights, Glee, Mad Men, Modern Family, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Nurse Jackie, Party Down and True Blood.
Five of them I watch their entire season of episodes. BIG BANG I watch a few times a year. I've never even heard of PARTY DOWN.
Of the group, I've only seen NO. 1 LADIES' DETECTIVE AGENCY. I found it quite charming. I'm looking forward to another season.
-
I have decided I want a new house - something about the size of HRH's pleasure cruiser should fit the bill nicely
-
So, here's the deal with La Manse, and any spare vibes appreciated. We have a multiple choice offer in, so to speak. The bank-owner has already said it won't make repairs, but at my realtor's behest our first offer details all the repairs needed to underwrite a loan, complete with multiple estimates/bids and references to the main inspection report. Then Offer B, as it were, is a price concession amount with the total amount for all repairs subtracted from the amount we originally bid. The realtor thinks they will come back with a counter-offer somewhere between our original offer and the price concession offer. I need it to be tilted toward the concession offer to make me a happy camper. Go to work. ;)

I did a little more research.
The television grid for 1958
ABC did not have any westerns on October 20, 1958 which happened to be a Monday.
Their westerns were on Tuesdays: 7:30: Cheyenne/Sugarfoot 8:30: The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp 9:00: The Rifleman
&
Sunday: 7:30: Maverick 8:30: Lawman 9:00 Colt .45

my wake and garage sale
How efficient! :P
I think it will be great!
Jack, I'm a bit confused. Is this wake and garage sale a combined event?
Is such a thing a Midwest custom? ;)
-
Thank you, BK, for the surprise package. I haven't opened it yet. I am going to wait until Christmas and be surprised.
-
I am surprised and delighted that the packages got everywhere so quickly. I haven't sent Jennifer in Canada yet because I can't use a flat rate priority envelope and have to get some other sort of envelope to ship it in - hoping they have something at the post office when I'm there on Wednesday.
-
Today I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:
-
The site is acting funny when I try to post. Anyone else having problems?
-
The photo can't capture how beautiful the river was this morning. The willow trees are yellow, the air was clear after the rain, and the mountains were pretty in the background.
-
(((((Larry)))))
-
Well, I just posted and the site didn't act funny or even dramatic.
-
And others seem to be posting without an acting-funny site.
-
I'm exhausted.
-
Cranberries. I just thought I'd say that. I know not why.
-
Cranberries. There, I said it again.
-
Speaking of family, I sent my brothers an email about the property over a week ago and neither one of them has responded. I cannot believe that bitch Lady M didn't see it, so I am not certain what's with the silence.
Too bad you can't make them buy you out of your share NOW, based on what they think (or expect) that they will eventually be able to get for it. :-\
I find this very annoying and am sorry for you, Larry. IMO, there is so much that needs to change about the practice of health care and this sort of thing is one of them. I hope things improve for you.
-
Vixmom, I hope the upcoming days will be better.

I feel we'll be to page nine in no time at all - oh, a Stephen Schwartz reference.
-
And might I just add - cranberries.
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page nine.
-
Will we never get to page ten?
-
I wonder how cranberries would taste dipped in dark chocolate?
-
I will be making a run to the post office to leave about fifteen packages in the night drop. Then I think tomorrow is a pretty light day. Wednesday will be busy from nine till seven at night without a minute to breathe. In fact, since Cason must be on his way to the airport by eleven or so, I've hired a gal to come in and work at two - that way she can help with any packages that aren't finished and also at Costco to pick up the food for the LACCTAA partay.
-
I wonder how cranberries would taste dipped in dark chocolate?
How could it be anything but GREAT. But it sounds familiar, like I've had them.
-
Ah, liaisons, what's happened to them?

I feel a frenzy comin' on.

Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead. Or, conversely, damn the speed, full torpedos ahead.

We're on a roll. Or at least a rye bread.

I wonder if I shall eat anything else? Maybe a sweet for the sweet tooth. I had a chicken salad sandwich and some kishka at Junior's at eleven-thirty. I'm still sort of full. Their chicken salad is very good.

Just in case Vixmom pops in today:

I enjoy the little things of christmas like driving around and looking at lights and good freinds...

If you do so in the next twenty minutes, it will even get mailed this very evening.

Page ten - page eleven coming VERY soon.

Does anyone realize that stop spelled backward is pots. Make of that what you will.

Perhaps he's eating - CRANBERRIES.

I have returned from a festive gathering of my AAUW friends. We were serenaded by a barbershop quartet and we had a silent auction of our baked goods and handicrafts. My two coffee cakes sold at decent prices, but I didn't buy anything.
-
This is a whole page of me thus far.
-
DR MICHAEL S - yes, it's all that info that makes those EBAY photos so mysterious. I am thinking that since the Monday night ABC schedule was so nebulous - maybe they canned their game shows one evening in October for a special program.
I have COOL & LAM on video....Allison has one scene - I am not at all familiar with the DANGEROUS ROBIN program except what is on IMDB.
I do think it was a ZIV show, though - so maybe they were just burning it off and it was a failed pilot.
-
Well, almost.
-
Sandra might be asleep already, since she has to be at work at 6 a.m.
-
Hi--I'm just back from Brent's show. And I'm not the only one who went twice- Julie Wilson was there again!
I didn't recognize any other celebrities. I'm sure DR elmore would have known half the people there!
I did notice one change (DR elmore mentioned he had given notes): last night no one applauded at the end of "They Say It's Wonderful," not knowing it was over. So tonight Brent started "Lovers on Christmas Eve" immediately after. He sounded great, as usual.
Brent informed me that he will be perfoming in The Music Man in San Jose in January ( I think the 15th-17th).
Thanks to everyone for commenting on my helping DR Ben with the baskets today. I really was glad to do it and I met some very nice people. And it was so nice of Ben and Anthony to invite me to their apartment to see their tree. I felt like I had known them both for years --they were so welcoming.
Well, it's back to reality --I'm leaving NYC tomorrow, back to work Wednesday!
-
Thanks to DR BEN for all his work and for the photo of DR KEVIN H.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
DR TCB nice pics!
-
How nice to see a photo of DR KevinH with DR Ben!
-
I might go up to San Jose to see Brent in The Music Man. Anyone want to go? Do you know the way to San Jose?
-
Oh yes I did, BK.
-
Does anyone realize that stop spelled backward is pots. Make of that what you will.
My grandfather used to read traffic signs backwards. As we approached he'd say "POTS! POTS!"
-
Glad to hear Brent's second show was good.
-
Oh yes I did, BK.
Well, it ain't here yet, baby. Perhaps it got waylaid by Mark Damon.
-
Or Damon Runyon.
-
Or Runyon Canyon.
-
DR JEANNE - it's not a custom yet, but it will be!
-
And speaking of CDs... many of you will be proud to know that I purchased an OCR of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN....The Tokyo cast recording that is, from 1964 and featuring my favorite Japanese actor Akira Takarada...he has a nice set of pipes, that man does!
It is a swell CD!

MBarnum's address has arrived.

I assume it's sung in Japanese. That would be fun to hear.

Dear reader Laura, where is your daughter?
-
24 years ago, I wrote a 15-minute piece, "Appalachian Carols," for my dad, who was born in the Cumberland Mountain town of Fallsburg, Kentucky, 88 years ago today. I am back from hearing a Men's Chorus rehearsal of itwith the band . Some it was very moving; the opening violin solo was magic, and there were lovely moments of singing from the soloists and chorus that moved me. Unfortunately, there were also a couple of rude surprises, like finding the conductor without consulting me had rewritten a vocal section to accommodate two more soloists. I was not happy when this was dumped on me tonight. We had a whole skirmish in September because the Chorus had illegally committed the copy of the manuscript I wrote in 1985 to Finale without alerting me, and in spite of my protestations, what they're performing is the original version and not my revised and published version of 1987.
I haven't decided how to handle all of this. I will fight for a reversion to what I wrote and I will give up enforving the 1987 ecition but i am not certain how this affects my continuation with the Chorus. Still, for about 30 minutes tonight, I celebrated my dad's birthday.
-
Page eleven as I live and breathe. Page twelve coming in short order.
-
In about thirty minutes I'll do the post office run and then I'll get something sweet and then I'll watch a motion picture.

Trash All Over The Fishermen - that's the title of my next novel, a Hemingwayesque story of men and fish.

Perhaps she should make a batch of floop and get some energy.

My goodness! It's one thing to make changes to a piece of music when the composer is long gone, but to make changes when the composer is still alive and involved...well, that just takes some nerve! >:(

My goodness! It's one thing to make changes to a piece of music when the composer is long gone, but to make changes when the composer is still alive and involved...well, that just takes some nerve! >:(

It wasn't as bad as Christianne Noll's dad Ron Noll rewriting large sections of DEAREST ENEMY behind mine and the R&H Organization's back in 2002 when he was in charge of the Village Light Opera Group! He was notorious for adding his "touches" to things.I'm lucky we heard as much of my restoration as we did.
-
elmore, there's nothing there yet, but mail in this program shows up every three or four minutes.
I was trying to do Nursie a favor.
-
Well, on that note (B-natural...naturally ;)), I'm going home to check my mail to see if I have a CD and a sparkling prize. When I have things sent to my house, I usually receive said items a day or two after others here would report receiving items. Unless I forget, I now have items sent to my work and I receive them more quickly. :)
-
Got it, elmore.
-
The Jews call it matzoh balls.
-
elmore was kind enough to send me dear reader Jane's address, so that's going out tonight, too - that should be about it.

Did everyone see that cute Brain video I posted yesterday?
-
Just in case anyone missed it:

-
Page twelve - you see how it's done? All it takes is fourteen users.
With a lot to say.
I knew poor Nursie in her painful drug-addled state would never get an address to you, God bless her soul.
-
I suppose I shall make a run to the postal office in about ten minutes.
-
Jane has turned into Mary Tyrone.
-
DR ELMORE most distressing - but I am sure over ridden by the good parts!
-
Fourteen Users - that's the title of my next novel - a story of drugs in a posh neighborhood in Alta Dena.
-
The good parts are right here at haineshisway.com
-
And for those who might have missed it - CRANBERRIES.
-
Tommy Steele sure is one annoying performer - at least as OG.
-
I'm sure elmore will love the musical interpretation in that clip from the Brain.
-
Did everyone see that cute Brain video I posted yesterday?
I just discovered all the "Brain from Planet X" clips on Youtube!
-
I find a few things to like in the film of Finian's but they are few and far between. However, I LOATHE the contribution of Hermes Pan.
-
What sweet shall I have, I wonder?
-
Maybe I'll buy some of those chocolate covered dog droppings.
-
I am so proud of Ben and his Anthony for theri volunteer service -- and how admirable of new DR Kevin to join the partay!!
A wonderful new addtion to the family is our DR Kevin
Yes, indeed. Ben, Ant, and and KevinH you are all My Heroes for the good work that you did.
-
I'm sure elmore will love the musical interpretation in that clip from the Brain.
I'm still in shock over "I Need An Earthman" by Catherine (who is she) and this one is scary. Where's the BAND?
-
And it's great to see the clips from the original production at LACC.
-
And the full house must be reading rather than writing. Or perhaps, and this is just a guess, perhaps they are eating - CRANBERRIES.
Chocolate-covered cranberries!
-
I find a few things to like in the film of Finian's but they are few and far between. However, I LOATHE the contribution of Hermes Pan.
After the show opened in October, I listened to the soundtrack fro the first time in several years. They may have a huge orchestra but those charts have none of the beauty and soul of the original 1947 orchestration.
-
Thanks, DRvixmom and DR TCB!
DRelmore:sorry to say I don't think Brent mentioned you.
Well, the time is running out on my computer at the posh Subway Sandwich Shop on 8th Avenue. Gotta go!
-
I have returned from a festive gathering of my AAUW friends. We were serenaded by a barbershop quartet and we had a silent auction of our baked goods and handicrafts.
LOL! I read that as a silent auction of baked good and handcuffs.
-
And Tommy Steele in Underpants was a most distressing site.
Just passed the intermission of FINIAN'S RAINBOW - and I am thinking that Mr Steele and Mr Hermes Pan are my two breaking points with this film.
I did see the school house from THE BIRDS behind Mr Pan's credit at the beginning of the movie - and Mr Coppola says that he thought Mr Pan was a bit old fashioned himself and replaced him part way through filming with Claude Thompson....didn't know that.
-
Well, I guess I shall mosey on over to the postal office.
-
Thanks, DRvixmom and DR TCB!
DRelmore:sorry to say I don't think Brent mentioned you.
Well, the time is running out on my computer at the posh Subway Sandwich Shop on 8th Avenue. Gotta go!
But did he mention ME?
-
I got the nicest email from Marc Acito today. He wrote this, BK: Did I mention that Jason Graae's "You've Got Possibilities" is on my gym cardio mix? I can't get enough of that arrangement. Slays me every time.
I won't tell Jason; his ego's big enough!
-
I believe we'll be to page fourteen in no time flat or sharp. Especially if we all eat our - CRANBERRIES.
-
I'm supposed to see Jason this week.
-
Hi
-
And I am telling you I am not going. No, no, no, no way.
-
I have nothing to say
-
Ah, the prodigal Sam comes home.
-
Bye
-
And has nothing to say. Did you listen to Love With The Proper Stranger? You could say that, for example.
-
Thanks, DRvixmom and DR TCB!
DRelmore:sorry to say I don't think Brent mentioned you.
Well, the time is running out on my computer at the posh Subway Sandwich Shop on 8th Avenue. Gotta go!
But did he mention ME?
Yes, because he tells the story of how the CD came about. But you know, he thinks I only wrote a few things, so I'm negligible. I could have landed a lot of acts today and yesterday if he'd mentioned me. That show doesn't sound good just because 4 players sat down at music stands and jammed. But I'm not bitter.
-
People come, people go, like Grand Hotel.
-
And therefore miss out on all the fun.
-
I hear you, elmore. I would have mentioned you, and have on many more than a few occasions.
-
My, my, my (that is three mys).
-
And Tommy Steele in Underpants was a most distressing site.

Tommy Steele reached his breaking point with me on THE HAPPIEST MILLIONAIRE.
-
We still have ten users and we have six GUESTS. That is a quorum on the forum.
-
Fortuosity, that's me byword.
-
Tommy Steele has big teeth.
-
Why am I still so full from a chicken salad sandwich and some kishka.
-
I hear you, elmore. I would have mentioned you, and have on many more than a few occasions.
And that's why I love you, BK.
-
Isn't that a song? Give me a little kishka, will you hon'.
-
We can bitch-slap Brent from here to eternity and hell and back.
-
And force Chris Denny to only eat at Denny's.
-
Oh yea.
Listened to Love With The Proper Stranger, twice. Made me want to see the movie again, funny how music makes you remember things from long long ago.
-
I'm thinking we will have over four hundred postings this day.
-
I have returned from a festive gathering of my AAUW friends. We were serenaded by a barbershop quartet and we had a silent auction of our baked goods and handicrafts.
LOL! I read that as a silent auction of baked good and handcuffs.
No, DR TCB, no handcuffs. But there were some lovely knitted items and some decorative items made of cut greenery and dried flowers. The only item I bid on was a basket with the ingredients and recipe for a friend's famous Spanish rice, but I was out-bid and now will have to figure out something else for my family to eat for dinner tomorrow night.
-
I happen to have a home-grown DVD of Proper Stranger, Sam - you may borrow it if you like.
-
Ooh, let's all put on handcuffs and cuff ourselves to the bed and do kinky things like eating CRANBERRIES.
-
I haven't had this much fun since I forgot I had boiling eggs on the stove and five of them exploded. That was in 1967.
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page fourteen. Just wait till the errant and truant log on.
-
I bought a VIDDY-O of TWO FOR THE SEESAW today, maybe I will watch it and listen for the music cues.
-
Now I'll go to the post office, after which I shall return and hopefully find we're on page fifteen.
-
Ginny has handcuffs
-
Tommy Steele has TOO many teeth - he's just damned unattractive. How did he get into show business anyway?
-
Oh, I think we ALL have handcuffs, even if we don't share that information with everyone.
-
Are you still here?
-
I believe Tommy Steele was quite a famous rock-and-roller in the late 1950s in the UK.
-
I have good news about my adopted son, Joshie: next Wednesday matinee, Dec 23, he will conduct his first performance of FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I've sworn to be there cheering him on.
-
I'm Still Here.
-
Things have come to a pretty pass.
Computer and offer acceptance vibes for DR JMK.
-
Is Joshie good enough to do the staged reading of Nudie? If Todd E. can't do it, I'll be looking for someone.
-
I have good news about my adopted son, Joshie: next Wednesday matinee, Dec 23, he will conduct his first performance of FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I've sworn to be there cheering him on.
Most exciting!
-
Good evening!
-
Oh my, I need to get things done.
Goodnight to the frenzy.
-
I'm smelling page fifteen as if it were here. It smells like - CRANBERRIES.
-
Thank you so much to BK for the loverly Kritzerland surprise! I love it!
-
If that fool says "Gloom & Doom!" once more, I'm turning this movie off.
-
And if dear reader Sandra was awake I know she'd say - UNDERPANTS.
-
Oh, I think we ALL have handcuffs, even if we don't share that information with everyone.
I don't have handcuffs but I hear a certain famous composer-lyricist does. In fact, I know two handcuff stories I cannot tell in mixed company.
-
Underpants and Cranberries - no, I think I won't touch that with a ten foot pole or a five foot czech.
-
Certainly I've heard one of the handcuff stories - I'm Still Here indeed.
-
Now everybody's yelling including Fred Astaire..... I can imagine it was a horrible fate being stuck in a BIG theatre with this in front of your face and no way out.
-

So how WERE the reviews for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC?
-
Let's all handcuff our various and sundried selves and do kinky things, like recount the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Tricycle.
-
Some good reviews, but more bad than good.
-
Why am I sitting here like so much fish when I should be at the post office.
-
You see, you see - over four hundred postings and we don't even have to resort to the Initials Game.
-
Is Joshie good enough to do the staged reading of Nudie? If Todd E. can't do it, I'll be looking for someone.
I've never seen him work as an MD, but I met him because he was MD for a reading for NYMF of Brad Ross' LITTLE BY LITTLE about 4 years ago. He plays a mean keyboard and he's a fantastic orchestrator.
-
Okay, now I'm going to the postal office.
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page fifteen. Fool around with ME, sister!
-
Certainly I've heard one of the handcuff stories - I'm Still Here indeed.
But, BK, I'm sure there are more than two!
-
Ben-Her - a Tail of Heist
-
Finian's Raincow
-
A Little Tight Music
-
None
-
The Hound of Music
-
The Productors
-
The Brawn From Planet X
-
Camelet
-
Ben looks very smart in his Kritzerland ensemble.
i figured, considering my condition at the time, i didn't need to send my address which i know you have (am i right? we didn't get any mail today). i love the extra big shirt, i can wear it around the house or keith can wear it to the gym-there are always loads of people at the gym to see it.
No, you must send your address - if anyone hasn't, please do so so I can send out your surprise that's not a surprise. Do NOT assume I have it - I may, I may not, but with this mail program I use it's too difficult to find things. So, send addresses.
you need an easy to use contact list separate from your mailing program
-
I'm here all night.
-
Attack of the 50 Foot Wombat
-
OK, that post finally went through.
I'm now at DF&H#2's house, along with my stuff. DF&H#2 was very kind about helping me transport said stuff yesterday. I think he was surprised at how much I had; well, I was surprised myself. WHERE DOES IT ALL COME FROM?? I've now repacked some of it and put it into storage here at his house.
i'm glad you have now moved into a warm home. i'm sure you a rather weary of all this moving & hope you can stay put for awhile.
Would you believe it? I'm now TOO warm! But it's easier to open a window than bundle up.
;D

Goodbye Mr Chits

Nobody wants to play.

Seven Birds for Seven Brothers

DR JRand59, the funniest thing about Mr Nunn's revival: at the opening of Act Two Madame Armfeldt makes the comment about not letting the guests see them sitting on the floor. Then, because there's no dinner table, they eat dinner on the floor! And this is said to be a "chamber" approach which might work in a 300 seat audiitorium but the Walter Kerr seats 931, and this production charges a top ticket @ $350 with an "orchestra" of 8 players replacing Tunick's brilliant original. It's pathetic and I wish it to be a financial disaster.
-
Cat Masterson
-
The Brawn From Planet X
MBarnum would see it.

Yikes! I am scared now....why would anyone pay that much?
-
DR JANE - did you enjoy Miss Allison in her episodes?
-
At least we're down to one guest - maybe 3DDIFFUSION wants to jump on me at Broadway World again.
-
The AFI named its Top Ten TV shows of 2009.
It has not been renewed for another season of episodes, at least not yet. But it hasn't been canceled yet either.
-
Whew! I'm guessing the tempo of the Exit Music matched the haste of the audience to get out of the theatre after the movie.
-
Okay I am going to choose another DVD movie that does NOT have Tommy Steele in it. I may return.....that's Douglas MacArthur lite for those who don't know.
-
DR MICHAEL S - yes, it's all that info that makes those EBAY photos so mysterious.
According to my pilot book (which is not perfect but does have about three thousand entries, she is only mentioned in the Cool and Lam show
-
Now everybody's yelling including Fred Astaire..... I can imagine it was a horrible fate being stuck in a BIG theatre with this in front of your face and no way out.
I saw it in a theater (paid reserve ticket prices for it) and quite enjoyed it. But then, it was the first time I had ever seen the show having only heard the cast album before that.
-
I began my evening watching U-571 on HD-DVD. I bought this for $4 many, many months before the Blu-ray was released, but I've always found it to be a wonderful edge-of-your-seat action film. Superb transfer and, of course, the sound was state-of-the-art then, and it still holds up very well today. All those depth charges going on all around you, and the windows in my den were shaking.
-
Next I watched another PERRY MASON episode. In this one, Burger hauled Perry in front of the Grand Jury, questioned him, and then accused him of perjury. A very entertaining case.
-
Page Sixteen Dance!!!
-
There are only two more PERRY MASON episodes in the box, and then I can start watching the first season of THE MENTALIST during my off hours. After that, I have THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW - Season Five to look forward to.
-
Do we have enough for a minion?
-
I certainly enjoyed THE CLOSER tonight even though Beau Bridges wasn't very convincing as a transsexual. Interesting to see his and Provenza's camaraderie (or lack thereof through much of the show), and I liked finding out Provenza's name, too.
-
Ben looks very smart in his Kritzerland ensemble.

Great idea - do it and send it to me :)
-
Page sixteen - that's what I'M talkin' about.
-
Back from the post office and Gelson's - got some low-fat low-cal ice cream.
-
Cranberries.
-
I feel we will achieve page seventeen. I feel it in my bones, although what it is doing in my bones I have no idea.
-
I feel we will also have over 500 postings or my name isn't Bob Clampett.
-
I'm heading downstairs now to bed.
Good night!
-
Congratulations to Joshie!!
-
I have to go to bed now - I suspect i shall dream of cranberries
-
Wow---I look away and we went to page 16??
-
I wonder how cranberries would taste dipped in dark chocolate?
I like the way you think, DR Vixmom!
-
Thanks for the KRITZERLAND surprise BK!
-
Oy! Vhat a night I had tonight!
-
Time flies when you're on the floor with customers.
-
Hi--I'm just back from Brent's show.
Ben and Ant are wonderful hosts! I hope they had the yule log on the TV!
-
I actually got called in early tonight. . .an hour before my scheduled shift, so I made out some extra hour-age this week. . .
Both evening managers complimented me on my sales skills this frantic evening.
I had some strange customers tonight, but I should have known it was going to be a weird evening when the first customer who approached me asked if we had a copy of The Necronomicon. . .and that I knew where it was without looking it up on the computer. . . .it was right there with the other grimoires. . . .;)
-
At least we're down to one guest - maybe 3DDIFFUSION wants to jump on me at Broadway World again.
If you post an attack on someone who is feuding with Bruce, and don't make it clear that you're doing it at the request (implied or otherwise) of his, then I'll point out that you're a friend of one of the combatants. That's hardly jumping on you. That's just leveling the playing field.
But you don't post there at any other time, so why carry a grudge?
-
Tommy Steele has big teeth.
I love Tommy Steele AND his big teeth!
-
How did we get to page 16?!?!?! I have loads of posts to catch up on! Oy!
-
Whew....a lot of posts to get through...although one was certainly worth skipping.
-
At dinner, watched a few episodes of M SQUAD, worked on my Jewel Lain interview, surfed Ebay for things I don't need, and now I think it is time for to go to bed.
-
BK, I think you will be happy to know that MY NEIGHBOR, TOTORO is releasing on Blue Ray in March.
I have yet to see this oft recommended (by BK) film, but it is in my Netflix queue.
-
Thank you very much, Bruce, for the lovely Kritzerland surprise! Ohh boy!
-
At least we're down to one guest - maybe 3DDIFFUSION wants to jump on me at Broadway World again.

Why are you here? And why don't you just go away
-
Cranberries.....I actually have a couple bages in my freezer and have been meaning to make cranberry sauce. Maybe I'll dip them in chocolate instead
-
I better get some sleep. Lots to do tomorrow....night
-
Hey! I got us to page 17.....cool beans, my work is done here
-
Tommy Steele has big teeth.
I love Tommy Steele AND his big teeth!
SO DO I!

Why do you come here? Go level the playing field elsewhere. Implied or otherwise my ASS, which, by the way (BTW in Internet lingo) you can kiss.
-
So 3DDiffusion is "Amicus Curiae"?
Hmmmm . . .
-
I've been asked several times why I haven't banned this uncouth interloper who really has a bug up HER ASS about me - and takes every opportunity on various boards under various names to attempt to cause trouble. I haven't banned her because it's more fun to see her flail here (and elsewhere) and then run like the steaming coward she is. Well, too bad, dear girl - we're havin' just as much fun despite your attempts to do harm. Oh, and really - kiss my ASS.
-
Yes, that name and many others on many boards.
-
The poor dear is somewhat obsessed.
-
Anyone for page eighteen and five hundred postings - then perhaps the dear 3DDiffusion can come back and ridicule some more. We await, oh, yes, we await.
-

In New York Magazine (http://nymag.com/arts/theater/features/62635/).
Very nice!
I agree
-
So 3DDiffusion is "Amicus Curiae"?
Hmmmm . . .
I can think of much better names with the initials A.C.
-
Back to the motion picture. Let the games begin!

So 3DDiffusion is "Amicus Curiae"?

that is an interesting name for her... I have seen her called a few others on a DRWho board and that is not repeatable

*A waltz, of course.

And has nothing to say. Did you listen to Love With The Proper Stranger? You could say that, for example.
My copy did not arrive at my home today. Maybe tomorrow...or Wednesday.
-
*It's also interesting to note that the actress playing Anne Egerman in the current revival, Ramona Mallory, is the daughter of the original Anne, Victoria Mallory, and the original
Frid, George Lee Andrews. -Who is still at The Majestic as one of the Mssrs. in The Phantom of the Opera Henrik, Mark Lambert.
**And as it turns out, I very briefly worked with both Victoria Mallory and her daughter, Ramona, about 22 years ago in Richmond. They were part of a somewhat clumsy, hoping-to-be-an-annual-tradition show called "The Twelve Dreams of Christmas". It practically re-defined the meaning of "Cheese". ::)

And what a lovely number of posts to come home to!

DR td - Glad to hear that your time on the floor as a bookseller continues to be productive for you, helpful for your customers, and profitable for your store.
-
Ben looks very smart in his Kritzerland ensemble.
i figured, considering my condition at the time, i didn't need to send my address which i know you have (am i right? we didn't get any mail today). i love the extra big shirt, i can wear it around the house or keith can wear it to the gym-there are always loads of people at the gym to see it.
No, you must send your address - if anyone hasn't, please do so so I can send out your surprise that's not a surprise. Do NOT assume I have it - I may, I may not, but with this mail program I use it's too difficult to find things. So, send addresses.
you need an easy to use contact list separate from your mailing program
Great idea - do it and send it to me :)
Or you could just cut/copy the addresses from all the emails that have been sent to you over the past week or so, and then paste them into Stickie or Word document.
Or - even easier - just create a new folder in Mail, label it "HHW Addresses", and drag the emails into there to save them on your computer for future reference.

Yikes! I am scared now....why would anyone pay that much?
Blame The Producers. "They" started the whole Premium Pricing trend(?), and it has stuck - even with shows that don't really have any "star power" in them. *If you check the average ticket price over the next couple of weeks, you may notice a bunch of them hovering around the $125-130 mark. $125 - plus fees - is the top ticket price now, but when they're selling Premium Seats in the $250-500 range, well... That certainly does bring up the average. Also - and I believe this started with Jersey Boys, but I could be wrong - many shows now have "Special Holiday" pricing. Instead of running $70-125, they range from $85-150 - and that's considered "regular" pricing. Some shows also adjust the seating and pricing tiers on the weekends now. It's amazing how far back the orchestra and front mezzanine sections go nowadays.
Etc., etc., etc...
Yadda, yadda, yadda...
-
*And I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm still quite surprised when I look at the regular tickets prices for some of the larger touring houses around the country. The Kennedy Center Opera House in DC and The Pantages in Los Angeles have higher-priced "tiers" than Broadway houses.

Finished with my viewing and am thinking about page nineteen.
-
And I cannot get the music of Joni Mitchell's The Circle Game out of my head, since that was the basis for the score to this film. Yes, I'd hire Henry Mancini to write a score and then make him use The Circle Game as the main title and end title and then only allow him to score scenes in thirty second chunks. Yes, that's what I'd do.
-
Oh, and in case someone is lurking - kiss my ASS.
-
Oh, I think we ALL have handcuffs, even if we don't share that information with everyone.
I don't have handcuffs but I hear a certain famous composer-lyricist does. In fact, I know two handcuff stories I cannot tell in mixed company.
So how WERE the reviews for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC?
As previously mentioned, some good, some bad, leaning toward the bad. It seems the deciding factor seems to be if you saw the original Broadway production. A lot of my younger friends who have seen the show liked it a lot. Some of my older friends who have seen it, well, not so much.
It's not on my "must-see" list, but if I happen to get offered a ticket, I wouldn't turn it down.
*And I'm still waiting to see if some sort of correction or clarification will be posted in The New York Times regarding Brantley's "fact oversight" in his review. ;)

DR elmore - Is there any sort of "re-use" agreement/arrangement in these kind of situations? If Brent remounts this show, will you get any sort of royalty or residual?
-
I got the nicest email from Marc Acito today. He wrote this, BK: Did I mention that Jason Graae's "You've Got Possibilities" is on my gym cardio mix? I can't get enough of that arrangement. Slays me every time.
I won't tell Jason; his ego's big enough!
...Among other things. But, again, as you are wont to say, that is a tale not be recounted among mixed company.
::)

And there have been a few charts I've played for her at auditions that have been "touched" by her father. Surprise! -But fun to play at least.

DR elmore - If push came to shove, could you request some sort of "cease and desist" order? Or is it the position of the Chorus that you have sold them your arrangement?
-
bk - As for "Mail" - You can always manually "request" you mail by clicking on the "Get Mail" icon.

I know, but it's more fun to wait and be surprised by all the spam.

Spam, of course, is maps spelled backwards.

Bruce, the posting problem only occurs when I'm quoting someone. It isn't clearing out the reply box. In one case two quotes were combined in one post, but I saw it and corrected it before it posted.
DR Jeanne - I think that's a combination browser/computer/board software glitch. Sort of a "perfect storm" situation. I know that in my mobile - iPhone - Safari browser, the quoting does take a few seconds to take, and if I click too soon, then I get double quotes.

Go to work. ;)

I'm just taking a short breather here after taking a nice stroll up on the High Line. Even in the not-so-dead of winter, it's still makes me smile.
I am going to go on the highline before the year is over.
:)
When will you be back in NYC again?
*Also, I stopped into Madeleine Patisserie this afternoon - right before I walked over and on The High Line, and they had these mini Buche de Noels made out of macarons!

Hmmm... Let's check the archives.... -Honestly, I can't remember either. -I've been having to do a lot of reading over the past week for a few possible upcoming projects, I've lost track of what came from where.
-
And speaking of not-so-hot, has any other DR checked out the video of Susan Boyle singing "I Know Him So Well" with Elaine Paige"? -Alas, I think Ms. Boyle's more "proper" technique - and most likely some nerves - did not serve her well during the duet.

my wake and garage sale
How efficient! :P
I think it will be great!
Jack, I'm a bit confused. Is this wake and garage sale a combined event?
Is such a thing a Midwest custom? ;)
I believe that's one of those pot-luck covered dish affairs.

DR TCB - Nice yacht! -I can't wait to see the pics of your own ship. -Well, at least something other than the carpet. ;)

DR Ben - So... How early do you think you'll be finishing tomorrow? I really was hoping to make it down there last week, but, as I alluded to earlier, I've been in research mode the past couple of days. In any case...
I really do admire the work that you and Ant and the rest of the volunteers do around this time of the year. On behalf of some of my friends past and present who benefit from your generosity, "Thank You".

I'm exhausted.

Now I have to go to a Men's Chorus rehearsal to hear the band. I'm worried I'll run into Ms Clark there since she's the guest star next Sunday and in her own mind.
DR elmore - Seriously, if Ms. Clark - and a slew of other performers - mean "nothing" to you, why continue to antagonize yourself by even mentioning their possible presence and even more negligible influence? If she's going to pay you no mind, you might as well do the same with her.
Better to bitch to her rather than about her. It's more satisfying that way. ;)

I'm exhausted.
Sounds like you're currently dealing with a cranberry-deficient diet.

I certainly enjoyed THE CLOSER tonight even though Beau Bridges wasn't very convincing as a transsexual. Interesting to see his and Provenza's camaraderie (or lack thereof through much of the show), and I liked finding out Provenza's name, too.

Thanks for confirming that it was YOU 3D CONFUSION - and in point of fact I have been a member of Broadway World since 2003 and have made several posts there.

But page twenty - that makes up for it a little. The gist of the post was that I just saw the packaging of a new FSM soundtrack release - I'd written two paragraphs for the booklet about how the release was possible. The studio who owns it asked for the paragraphs to be removed - I said okay, and I was promised they'd appear on the FSM website. I did find it a little offensive that history is not being served but that's the way it is. But when people ask why my name appears as Executive Producer and why the Kritzerland logo appears on the CD, I'll be happy to tell them. Simply put, the release could not have happened without me. The studio had no tapes on the score. I did. Back in the LP days, I'd gotten this score for Varese, but they backed out of doing it because of the high cost of the AFM reuse. But because I'm a smart person, I made a perfect 15ips tape for me, which I've kept in perfect storage all these years. When they heard the tape quality they were blown away. Why this information needs to be suppressed from the booklet has to do with no one wanting to look bad, but, you know, facts are facts.

Victoria Mallory – played Ann in the Original BWay cast.
She married Mark Lambert, who played Henrik
They have a daughter, Ramona Mallory, who recently played Luisa in The Fantasticks.
She is now reportedly being cast in her mother's part as Ann in the revival.
