Well, you've read the notes, the notes ended on a high note (Ab), and now it is time for you to post until the high-note cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PALMER!
-
Sad to report that our wonderful Outside the Box editor, Marshall Harvey, lost his wife tonight - 54 years old. She had a heart attack last June, and from then on it was just one complication after another. So very sad.

How sad. That is such a shame.

Oh, that's horrible. Way too young. Condolences to all.

I can't imagine what Marshall has been going through. So sad.

bk, nice of the cast to give you and Lloyd some well-deserved recognition.

Looking forward to the Oscars tonight. And the hours of Red Carpet beforehand. Did the show always start at 8:30pm? I find that crazy. I think the E! Red carpet starts at 5:30pm.
Luckily TAR (which is on the same channel here as the Oscars) will be on at 6pm in Canada.

My WHO WILL WIN Oscar Picks:
Picture: GRAVITY
Actress: Cate Blanchett
Actor: Matthew McConaughey
S. Actress: Jennifer Lawrence
S. Actor: Jared Leto
Director: Alfonso Cuaron

Good morning, all! I've not seen a single tim since Much Ado About Nothing with Charlotte last July. I've not seen a single nominated film, primarily from health and partly from lack of money, and I doubt I'll be watching tonight's awards. I hope those of you watching have a great time.
Today, I will work a bit on the ROBERTA notes and putter about the apartment. I'm flat broke, overdrawn like mad at the moment and waiting on a check that, according to the Man from Philadelphia, should have arrived yesterday. It's bad enough that this man has no idea what my work entails for the foundation but it's worse that he screws up paying me. Luckily, tomorrow morning my musician's pension should land in the bank, and that should tide me over for a day until the Ohio property taxes check comes through and I'm overdrawn again. Goddam!
-
Vibes for DR MIKE and his family.
Condolences to Mr Harvey and his family.....terrible situation.
-
I pretty much agree with DR DRUXY's picks for the Oscar winners.... The only quibble there is that I think Leo De Caprio may finally win for his role in WOLF OF WALL STREET......
I have not seen NEBRASKA.....
You can print your own ballot here:

Sunday morning greetings! We ha a delightful day yesterday seeing EVITA with Rob and Mary Linda and supping with E & T DR Jason. We're iced in today with serious snow falling.
-
TCB, to answer your question last night, we had between 3 adn 4 inches of snow. It's a very cold sunny day. the high today is supposed to be -2 air temp. Good day to stay home. Luckily it's not windy
-
Of course Paul convinced me to go to Panera for coffee, but I"m home now and plan to stay here
-
Bank account vibes for DR Elmore!*
*We're all looking forward to our percentage of the lottery wins.
-
I had a lousy sleep last night, and have trying to make up for it these past few hours, with a certain amount of success. Didn't even have coffee or eat anything earlier, because I hoped to just fall back to sleep for a while. But I did, however briefly, and now I'm enjoying a little toast, banana, and my first cup of coffee ..... at noon! Oy! :)
-
OMG, I just looked at a list of the Oscar nominations, and this is shameful -- of the nine best picture nominees, I only saw GRAVITY. I see a few titles I'd always meant to go see, and it never happened. This may be my single worst year for this. And yet, I was out at the movie theater more times than in recent years. I guess there were more digital showings of vintage films that kept those numbers up. And I'm not complaining about that, by any means. But sheesh. I've got to do better on new releases.
-
GRAVITY is the only nominee we've seen, too, DR ChasSmith. And we only saw that 'cause we were snowbound in Atlanta and our hotel had it on demand.
-
Paul hated Gravity and other friends told me it was bad. I liked it. And since the rental on directv goes until 8 tonight I"m watching it again
-
So, DR Ginny, did Rob accept the job? What is it?
-
For years I did my best to see all the nominees. I've seen all the best pic nominees except Wolf of Wall Street, 12 years a Slave and Her. There are a lot of others i didn't see this year.
-
So, DR Ginny, did Rob accept the job? What is it?
The I's haven't been dotted and the T's haven't been crossed yet, but we hope to know more tomorrow, DR Elmore.

My condolences to Marshall Harvey and his entire family.

The OSCAR telecast begins at 7 p.m. EST, but that might include the Red Carpet In The Rain....I am not sure.....
-
I enjoyed reading about your activities yesterday DR CHAS SMITH....and yes we need photographs of the newly waxed furniture and electronics setup.

I knew I forgot something!
Ditto!
-
My guide on the cable TV says the actual telecast starts at 8:30.
I hope it's true because I told people coming to our 7 pm performance of the one-act that it will over before 7:45 at the latest, so they'll have plenty of time to get home for the Oscars.
-
if they live in Manhattan, that is...

Re: Pink at the Oscars

I'm Bette-ing Ms. Midler will sing WIND BENEATH MY WINGS or FROM A DISTANCE. I have no idea what Pink will sing.
-
I think the channel called E! (the one time each year I even know about such a channel) has a few hours of red carpet or pre-red carpet or some such.
Oh, I hope we'll get to see some rain! ;D

The name escapes me.

Best Actor: Matthew McConaughey
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett
Supporting Actor: Jared Leto
Supporting Actress: Lupita Nyong'o
Animated: FROZEN
Best Director: Alfonso Cuarón
-
I just watched Gravity for the second time I really do like it It's not my favorite movie. I liked Philomena the best this year, but I know that doesn't have a chance. I also liked American Hustle
-
I should have made each winner a separate post.
-
Then I could have put twenty minutes of commercials between each one and called myself a broadcast!
-
But for my TOD:
Picture: American Hustle
Actor:Matthew McConaughy
Actress:Kate Blanchete
Supporting Actor: Jared Leto
Supporting Actress: Lupita Nyong'o
Song:Frozen
-
Those aren't my favorites, just my choices
-
I tried to watch GRAVITY last night on my Roku, but the damn thing kept screwing up. I suspect the batteries already need repalcement. I ended up watching GUILT TRIP on my laptop using Amazon Prime.
-
I think Cate Blanchette is an amazing actress.
-

Doesn't your Roku have a power cord?
-
Ok gang, if we are going to have a record breaking day, we need to get started early
-
Cilla, I think you and I aregoing to be busy if we are going to get 1,000 posts today.
-
Callie says she wants Cat Blanchette to win best actress
-
She's picking the Wolf of wall street, but she thinks that The Lion of Wall Street would be a better movie
-
Best supporting actor she likes Bark Abdi. She also wonders why so many of these names are more dog oriented
-
Supporting actor she wants Sally HAWKins. She likes to watch the hawks circle outside the window (and yes, they are red tails)
-

Doesn't your Roku have a power cord?
Yes, the Roku has a power cord, but you need to use the remote with it to pick yuor choices. After GRAVITY wouldn't play, I started watching GUILT TRIP on my Roku. but it loaded, got loaded, or reloaded five different times in the first twenty minutes of the film. That is when I gave up and went to bed with the laptop.
-
For best Foreign Language Film Callie picks The Hunt. She hasn't seen it, but is hoping it involves chasing mice or birds
-
For best animated Short, Callie picks Room on the Broom.....for her black cat friends who have moms who ride on brooms
-
For best Live Action Short she picks Aquel No Era Yo (That Wasn't Me) just because she doesn't want to get blamed if she can say it was Ricky or Boo
-
For Best Song...Callie picks Happy....because it makes mom dance really funny
-
For Production Design Callie picks The Great Catsby.
-
Callie says she wants Cat Blanchette to win best actress
I hope groaning is allowed at HHW. :)

Hey, at least they are posts!
-
Damn, Cilla, you are good.
-
It's Callie, not me :)
-
For Production Design Callie picks The Great Catsby.
Can we do any animals or only pets?
-
For best actor she picks Christian Tail. (Ok that ones a stretch)
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours - very good.
-
For Production Design Callie picks The Great Catsby.
Can we do any animals or only pets?
Do whatever you want to. We did food a few years ago, we could do that too, I just thought this may be something different
-
So glad we're back to our usual Sunday shows next month - it always feels weird to do the stumble-through on any day but Saturday.
-
The guy who wrote NEBRASKA (the movie not the state), Bob Nelson, is from Seattle. This was his first screenplay. He seems like a very nice guy.
-
I gave up and went to bed with the laptop.
It's a little lumpy, but it rings beeps.
-
For Production Design Callie picks The Great Catsby.
Can we do any animals or only pets?

Then it would be THE GRAPE GATSBY.

Dallas Buyer's Club Sandwich

Does DALLAS BUYERS CLUBHOUSE count for food?
-
Thank you, DR TCB. I'll take that as a compliment.
-
Nebraska was very depressing to me. It is so close to what it's like.
-
Does DALLAS BUYERS CLUBHOUSE count for food?
We have no rules so why no
-
Foot is kind of hard with this years nominees
-
Loved your vintage photograph, DR Jrand63! :)
-
Foot is kind of hard
I think there's a cream for that sort of thing. ;)
-
We once had a cat named Philomena.
We named her out of the obituary column in the local paper.

The autocorrect could be residing anywhere. Site? Browser? I don't even know. But the one I DESPISE is on my Android. I love almost everything about the phone (it's a RAZR MAXX), but I have to watch every single word because you have to make a real effort to fix a bad autocorrect as you're "typing".
-
DR elmore3003 - I hope you know I only pick up these things out of love - it's certainly not personal!
-
THE GODFATHER (pizza)
-
DR ChasSmith - certainly there must be a way to turn off that feature on your phone??
-
Believe me, I've looked.
But I haven't googled, so...
-
12 YEARS A SLAW is probably unseemly.
12 year old slaw certainly would be. Especially if it had been left out in the sun.

Hey, if you throw enough of them at the wall, some of them are bound to stick!

-
This is the first year in ages where I've seen most of the nominated films, thanks to the DGA screeners. The only major film I didn't see, I think, was 12 Years a Slave, and as brilliant or good as it may be, it is just not my kind of film. Of the ones I saw, the clear winner, for me, was Philomena. The Academy, however, will never respond to a film like that over the likes of Slave and Wall Street and Hustle. Gravity, which I enjoyed, is not in the league of Philomena, but it may just win the prize this evening.

We're off to a fine start of postings on Oscar day.

But I think Cilla may have crashed and burned. She wore herself out!
-
Oh, I wish I were an Oscar statue winner...
That is what I'd truly like to be...
For if I were an Oscar statue winner...
Everyone would be in love with me.
Not really.
-
Most of the time, I can't even remember who won the darned things, even just one year before.
-
Winning a Tony sure doesn't guarantee an actor their next Broadway role...

LOL!
It was kind of sad seeing those giant Oscar statues wrapped in plastic yesterday.
-
I take it then, bk, that being a member of the DGA is totally separate from being an Oscar voter.
I wonder what the total pool of Oscar voters is?
-
Winning a Tony sure doesn't guarantee an actor their next Broadway role...
True. I am surprised that Robert Preston got to do THE MUSIC MAN (acotti).

Yes, being a DGA member has nothing to do with the Oscars. I suppose that way back in the day I could have tried to get in the Academy, but alas, I didn't.

Where is the Green Giant statue?
There might be more than one, but I've been to the one in Blue Earth Minnesota. There is a huge sign as you go south and down the hill toward Le Sueur, Minnesota that says something like "Now entering the Valley of the Jolly Green Giant" I've always thought the statue should be there

Yes; I've passed it several times myself! :)

Goodbye Mr. Chocolate Chips

Yes, both SAG and AFTRA

I think so too!

But I have always loved the sandwich at Denny's, The Moon Over My Hammy.

Albert the Bull is in Audubon, IA.....you'd think birds there, but it's all bull

Interesting. I really don't want to watch 12 Years a Slave either

DR. DRUXY -What about AMERICAN HUSTLE?
-
I have just learned that my dear friend and mentor, producer Stanley Rubin died last night. He was 96.
I would not have had the success I had in the industry were it not for his kindness and support.
If you're not familiar with his credits, they include THE NARROW MARGIN (original), RIVER OF NO RETURN, THE PRESIDENT'S ANALYST and WHITE HUNTER, BLACK HEART.
He also produced TV series like GENERAL ELECTRIC THEATER, THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR, BRACKEN'S WORLD and the TV movie, BABE.
-
DR. DRUXY -What about AMERICAN HUSTLE?
I have yet to see it. I'm just handicapping.
-
Condolences for the loss of your friend and mentor

If GRAVITY wins tonight, then I think that Steve McQueen may win for best director. Even though a lot of memebers don't want to watch 12 YEARS A SLAVE, I think they will feel the need to reward the film.

Baked Nebraska

And no, SnoopDoggy, that isn't Steve McQueen for THE GREAT ESCAPE.

Well, Lupita Nyong'o will likely win Best Supporting, but you may be right as far as honoring the whole film

I wouldn't count out American Hustle. It was a fun film.

Just in case you haven't heard the songs
-
I think the minions in Despicable Me 2 should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actors.. :D
-
So sorry for your loss, Druxy.
-
I want a house full of minions
-
I like the song from FROZEN, but I am sure that Lea Michele will be singing it on GLEE one of these days.
-
OH COOL!! I found a Minion Creator Here's my minion, Ricky
-
Here's the link if you'd like to make your own minion
http://minionslovebananas.com/minion-maker/ (http://minionslovebananas.com/minion-maker/)
-
I liked the song from FROZEN too, until I saw video after video of toddler and pre-teen girls singing it out of tune
-
Didn't the Bono song from Mandela win the Golden Globe?
-
TCB we're doing pretty well on the posts. Don't know if anyone will want to read them, but they are posts
-
JRAND and FJL, feel free to jump in any time
-
Didn't the Bono song from Mandela win the Golden Globe?
I think so. U2 is also performing tonight.
-
Did anyone else see American Hustle? It was a good movie. My friends are cuckoo over it. I'd say over the moon about it, but that might confuse things with Gravity
-
I saw Despicable Me in 3D. I forgot HAPPY was the song at the end where they had some really cool 3D effects at least I think it was.
-
TCB we're doing pretty well on the posts. Don't know if anyone will want to read them, but they are posts
We may have one of the largest non-award show totals before the broadcast even begins.
-

I have it available in my Roku, but after last night; I may wait to watch it on Amazon Prime.
-
Sorry to hear the news DR DRUXY
-
I liked American Hustle - the story had a lot of gaps and holes in it....but I think everyone was good, especially Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
-
I hope Dakota shows up for the Oscars, she always enjoys playing the movie / food game. Or should that be, the food / movie game?
-
I liked American Hustle - the story had a lot of gaps and holes in it....but I think everyone was good, especially Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
Well the true ABSCAM was an incredible story so it's not a surprise the film version had problems
-
Christain Bale's comb over was hysterical.
-
I hope everyone shows up for the Oscars....it will be a fun time

Is Bradley Cooper this year's World Sexiest Man?

and I'm only 344 posts from a big milestone
-
but I don't plan on posting that many tonight....well... I could
-
And I am only 166 posts away from a millstone

Nine!

And I am only 166 posts away from a millstone
Is that right?

Christain Bale's comb over was hysterical.
Is he the one with the big pot belly, too?
-
Hey! It's the same milestone!

Yes!

Hey! It's the same milestone!
You are correct!

We had better put George on alert.

Gee, I wonder what I am having for dinner tonight?
-
THE RIGHT STUFF-ING
-
The Road to Gold, Academy Awards Preview is on here right now
-
The OSCAR telecast begins at 7 p.m. EST, but that might include the Red Carpet In The Rain....I am not sure.....
The Red Carpet starts at 5:30pm on E!
-
Do you have a lert to put George on?.....Boo hiss, I know that was bad
-
I will watch Gravity when my library gets it. I did watch Captain Phillips yesterday and Dallas Buyer's Club today.
-
They're are talking about those who were left out.....The Butler....All is Lost..Tom Hanks...Emma Thompson

Going to Lincoln if it's the last thing I do

Maybe I will order a pizza?
-
Leonardo saying "This is the greatest company in the world" in The Wolf of Wall Street sounds a lot like "I'm the King of the World" from Titanic
-
Maybe I will order a pizza?
I have a frozen pizza .... should I admit that? ;)
-
My favorite part of Nebraska was June Squibb. If you get rid of the swearing, she's just like most of the women I know her age.
-
This is the first year in ages where I've seen most of the nominated films, thanks to the DGA screeners.
I have talk to several friends in the industry who have not wanted to watch 12 YEARS A SLAVE, which is why I think that GRAVITY will probably win the top award.
I feel like everyone who can vote for Best Picture should have to watch all of the nominated films.
-
Sorry to hear about your friend and mentor, DR Druxy.
Ditto. :(
-
Matthew M. Lost 40 for Dallas Buyers Club
I didn't like how he looked. It was sickly and must have been so unhealthy for him to lose that much weight. You almost couldn't recognize him.

Well, he was supposed to look sickly. Not sure how else you would play that part without losing the weight
-
I will watch Gravity when my library gets it. I did watch Captain Phillips yesterday and Dallas Buyer's Club today.
What did you think?
I enjoyed Captain Phillips more. I was on the edge of my seat. A lot of action.
I thought that Dallas Buyer's Club was okay. It's not my kind of movie. But I thought that the performances were really good. And a good section in the middle was quite interesting.

Maybe I will order a pizza?

If I had one I would cook it and eat it.

Well they could have gotten someone who was already super thin.
The weird part for me is that he looked the same weight at the beginning of the film as he did at the end. I feel like he should have started out a bit bigger and then looked thinner as time passed.
-

I think I will read until the E! Red Carpet starts. I could watch the Pre-Red Carpet. But it's already going to be enough hours of tv. Plus at 6pm I am going to watch TAR and then switch back and forth with the Red Carpet show on E! and ABC.
-
Jared Leto was great in DBC
-
DR Dan I enjoyed reading your diatribe regarding Heston and completely agree with it.
-
From DR Vixmom:
gosh yes! What a waste of wine otherwise!
I KNOW! :)
I have to admit, the wine came after the two flub.

From DR Singdaw:
Apologies to the scrolling fingers of all DRs.
I am not sure I can forgive you for that ;)

DR Cilla did you have the doctor's office resubmit the reason for the heart monitor to your insurance company?
Did you sign up for a new doctor?

DR George did you retrieve the spaghetti from your car in time to save it?

DR Cilla did you have the doctor's office resubmit the reason for the heart monitor to your insurance company?

It's not covered because of my deductible. And they still haven't sent me the results. I have figured out where I'm going to go for a new doctor. Haven't had time to call them and schedule an appointment yet.

SAVE THE WHALES! SAVE THE FOREST! SAVE THE SPAGHETTI!

Sad to report that our wonderful Outside the Box editor, Marshall Harvey, lost his wife tonight - 54 years old. She had a heart attack last June, and from then on it was just one complication after another. So very sad.
This is horrible. My condolences for his loss and to all who loved her-way too young :(
-
I had a short nap, and now I'm fresh as a daisy.

Younger than springtime.

I've got a pep in my step.

This should make DR Cilla happy.
I need to set the show to record. I like to speed through most of it.

Awww. No wonder you are so close today. You put the time in as a big brother.

I saw that, but I don't know what she is singing or why she is singing
-
We're over 300 posts, that should be a good start...it's not even red carpet time yet

DR Singdaw I hope you don't have any "ick" moments with your mouth.
Only every time he opens it!

Best supporting actor she likes Bark Abdi. She also wonders why so many of these names are more dog oriented

I see I'm up for a modest millstone.

Kevin, come on in, the water is fine!

We once had a cat named Philomena.
We named her out of the obituary column in the local paper.
LOL!
-
Folks, I hate to say this after looking forward to it, but I won't be with y'all this evening during the Oscars. I have a friend who has been through a rough couple of months for various reasons, and I'm going to watch the show with her because she just needs some company. Other friends have been taking turns doing things with her, going out to eat a meal, catching a movie, etc., and I'm free to spend a little time this evening just being there so that's what I'm going to do. I shall look forward to coming back and having a very satisfying ketchup session afterwards.
-
I've seen Albert the Bull
Albert is cute.

You were very fortunate to have a kind and talented mentor. My condolences on your loss. I hope his last years were good ones and he enjoyed his long life.
-
Yes indeed. Condolences, DR Druxy.
-
Kevin, come on in, the water is fine!
I'm here! I was catching up on 11 (!) pages of posts!
-
Just in case you haven't heard the songs
The sound on my computer isn't the best. I will have to watch the songs tonight, or whenever I watch my recording of the awards.
-
I'm watching today's CBS Sunday Morning. I can't believe how great Eva Marie Saint looks at age 89!
-
DR elmore3003 - I hope you know I only pick up these things out of love - it's certainly not personal!
I'm not upset with you. It's the goddam autocorrect. If I could turn the mother off, I would.
-
I will watch Gravity when my library gets it. I did watch Captain Phillips yesterday and Dallas Buyer's Club today.
And?
We have only seen Gravity & Captain Phillips. We liked them both. I think Captain Phillips was terrific.

89! Oy!

Well, the rain has started in the DC area. It will turn to snow tomorrow morning and we may get up to 10 inches, though I'm hoping it'll be less where I live.

Matthew M. Lost 40 for Dallas Buyers Club
I didn't like how he looked. It was sickly and must have been so unhealthy for him to lose that much weight. You almost couldn't recognize him.
Well, he was supposed to look sickly. Not sure how else you would play that part without losing the weight
Tom Hanks lost 50 pounds for his role in Cast Away.

The only movie I've seen with any nominations is Blue Jasmine.

Well, that is different ;)
You should have the results. You can sign a paper where you took the test and they will give you the results.

I think I just disabled the autocorrect. My typing should be lousy, but closer to the words I mean!

LOL, no he didn't. He did get out of shape before filming Cast Away and I remember it looking as if he put muscle on while he lost weight.
-
And I'm only 115 posts from a milestone (granted it's one tenth of Cillaliz's and TCB's). Well, it's not really a milestone--just a round number
-
Where/how did you disable it, DR Elmore?
-
Jane, it's not that they won't give me the results, last time I asked he hadn't finished looking at the data. good thing I haven't had a heart attack.
-
I think I just disabled the autocorrect. My typing should be lousy, but closer to the words I mean!
I enjoy reading your posts, elmore, autocorrected or not.
-
Where/how did you disable it, DR Elmore?
On Safari, the browser I'm using for this site, you have to be in a "reply" frame where you're typing something; at the top of the screen go to Edit and click on "Spelling & Grammar," then uncheck "correct spelling automatically."
-
Jane, did you see GUILT TRIP?
Yes. I enjoyed it more than Keith did. I wouldn't nominate it for a best film. On the other hand I wouldn't have nominated Streisand for a Razzie.
-

I don't love every movie that Barbra makes, but I thought this one was really charming.

The Oscar promo drives me nuts, it says "For the first time Bette Midler takes the stage" like she's never been on a stage before

Okay.

Why do we have a pre-red carpet?

It stopped raining for the red carpet.
-
Why do we have a pre-red carpet?
I have no idea
-
But we're starting the red carpet on page 13
-
Good morning, all!
Goddam!
I can empathize. My social security disability check was late last week and as a result I incurred around $210 of non-sufficient fees (7 x $32). I was only able to get 1 fee reversed. By the time the check dropped, I was already in the hole. So, I'm sending you good financial and health vibes!
-
Sad to report that our wonderful Outside the Box editor, Marshall Harvey, lost his wife tonight - 54 years old. She had a heart attack last June, and from then on it was just one complication after another. So very sad.
Condolences to Mr. Harvey and his family. I lost my dad when he was only 51, so I know that is way too young, especially now that I turned 49.
-
Ah, ABC is back. Not sure if I'll watch their red carpet or E!
-
Oh! I just saw that Barbra -Live from Brooklyn will be on the Maryland PBS stations at 6:30 pm tonight. Should I watch her or the Oscars?
-
Oh sure! My Roku seems to be working perfectly now.

I am missing the newest Celtic Women concert on PBS tonight.

Well, I don't know about y'all, but this is what I'm wearing on the red carpet...

THAT would make it
"Planet of the DRAPES"
"Get your damned dirty Swiffer off of me!"

You already saw her in Brooklyn.
And I have the DVD too. But I like to support her whenever she's on TV.
Then call up the station, tell them that you are loving the concert, and pledge a couple hundred dollars.
-
I actually did pledge a couple of months ago in order to get the DVD without the CD,which didn't seem to be available anywhere else. Yes, I am crazy.

went to bed with the laptop.

Of course, I also wanted to support PBS.

I think I may make my frozen pizza for dinner. Or maybe bacon and eggs
-
Speaking of BK, how nice that PURE IMAGINATION had a good show last night and you and Lloyd Cooper were honored. I thought he was great. I had hoped to be able to see the show in the larger theatre and I also would have liked to see Laura Wolfe. Oh, well.

You are a mere child, Dan!
-
My condolences to DR Druxy over the loss of his friend and mentor.
-
Well, I don't know about y'all, but this is what I'm wearing on the red carpet...
DANG!! Now what I am I going to wear?!
-
Condolences, too, to the family and friends of Marshall Harvey.

And how will you be getting the dress to stay up?
duct tape
OH you were talking to SingSong
-
DR Dan I enjoyed reading your diatribe regarding Heston and completely agree with it.
Thanks DR Jane, I appreciate your support!
-
I enjoyed Cilla's votes from her fearless felines.
-
We are going for a record number of posts
I think you and TCB have a lot to do with it!
Credit goes to Cilla. She types much faster (and thinks much faster) than I do.
Aw, thanks TCB, but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun without you
I have been enjoying it with you, too.
-
Amy Adams has five Oscar nominations!! I think I will do costumes for one of BK's shows.

I am looking for a friend and mentor. Those kinds of people are true treasures and I've not had one yet.
-
I think I may make my frozen pizza for dinner. Or maybe bacon and eggs
I was thinking of sausage and eggs, but I don't have any bread for toast
-
BLUE JASMINE is the only nominated film I've seen this year. I thought Sally Hawkins really did a fine job and was Oscar-worthy. I liked Cate Blanchett, too.
-
Condolences to DR Druxy.
-

I had a very similar idea of making omelets and sausage for din-din.
-
Dang! There are a lot of queens working the red carpet!
-
BLUE JASMINE is the only nominated film I've seen this year. I thought Sally Hawkins really did a fine job and was Oscar-worthy. I liked Cate Blanchett, too.
Me too! I was so surprised to learn that Sally was English!
-
I enjoyed Cilla's votes from her fearless felines.
Callie says thank you. She's in her chair right in front of the TV waiting to see if she wins

They are indeed treasures. I'm not sure where one goes to find one. I hope you do. Perhaps in your next career.
-

I have some bread, but by the time I send it you probably won't be hungry for eggs anymore.
-
SO, we're going to shatter the record low of -15 tonight. Oh Joy
-
I loved GRAVITY.... Yes DR CILLA LIZ - ABSCAM was something! And I guess AMERICAN HUSTLE wasn't a documentary (Some of the following things happened), but it wasn't quite complete for me.
ANYWAY - I am watching the E! Red Carpet - even though there are a couple of their people who really irritate me.....smarmy nonentities who should be watching television rather than being on it.....not to mention names but, Seacret, Rancic, and Osborne.....
-
Now I am counting like DR JANE.
-
Nice looking Price Waterhouse accountant!
-
That's what we need. More accountants on TV
-
I am TOO far from a milestone to make one this evening here on HHW.
It is snowing again.....we are supposed to get an additional four inches of the white stuff.
-
I don't know why, but I just don't get Scorsese anymore. I think he's a talent, but his recent movies leave me cold and disconnected. I'm also not into DiCaprio either, so that doesn't help.
-

I'm watching the Red Carpet on E! also

Me too! I was so surprised to learn that Sally was English!
Yes, she is. She's done other roles of this ilk in the UK.
-
Jane, it's not that they won't give me the results, last time I asked he hadn't finished looking at the data. good thing I haven't had a heart attack.
LOL
When I wore a monitor I got the results fairly quickly even though nothing was wrong.
They are just worthless.....switching to a new doctor so I don't have to think about them anymore
When you make your appointment with the new doctor ask for a form to sign to request all of your records sent to the new office. I expect you can wait until then for the results.
-
I loved Sally Hawkins in Blue Jasmine
-
McConnaghey has grown into a good actor. I know this is a wee bit out-of-date, but I saw the indie movie "Mud" in which he played the title character. It's fun to see Sam Shephard in it too. I made a double feature of that and "Days of Heaven".
-
AMERICAN POODLE
Oh wait, that isn't food.
depends where you live
-

I feel the same. I really think folks who are in the public eye like this should get some good coaching. They come off as neophytes to me.
-
Jane, did you see GUILT TRIP?
Yes. I enjoyed it more than Keith did. I wouldn't nominate it for a best film. On the other hand I wouldn't have nominated Streisand for a Razzie.
I don't love every movie that Barbra makes, but I thought this one was really charming.
I liked it and she had some excellent moments in the film. I don't know why she was nominated for a Razzie.
-
I don't know why, but I just don't get Scorsese anymore. I think he's a talent, but his recent movies leave me cold and disconnected. I'm also not into DiCaprio either, so that doesn't help.
Amen to that.
-
Isn't it pre-red carpet?
I think so and it is what I seemed to have set to record instead of the Red Carpet-oh well.
-
Oh great, our ABC station isn't coming in. Hopefully they'll get it fixed before the sho starts
Good luck!!!
-
Prior to the Red Carpet show on ABC, I was listening to Oscar-winning scores all day. It's fun to revisit some old "chums" and hum along with them.
-
Good morning, all!
Goddam!
I can empathize. My social security disability check was late last week and as a result I incurred around $210 of non-sufficient fees (7 x $32). I was only able to get 1 fee reversed. By the time the check dropped, I was already in the hole. So, I'm sending you good financial and health vibes!
I suggest automatic deposit.
-
AMERICAN POODLE
Oh wait, that isn't food.
depends where you live
:D
-
WOW it's Liza time!
-
Can you imagine anyone having 18 Oscar nominations?
-

Condolences to Mr. Harvey and his family. I lost my dad when he was only 51, so I know that is way too young, especially now that I turned 49.
I am now 2 years older than my mother was. It took me awhile to get used to the fact. I was never sure I would even reach this age. I'm now 6 years older than my older sister was. So far I have avoided the family curse but am very aware it can still catch me.
-
Is Liza a presenter tonight?
-
Was that Meryl Streep?
-
Oh! I just saw that Barbra -Live from Brooklyn will be on the Maryland PBS stations at 6:30 pm tonight. Should I watch her or the Oscars?
You already saw her in Brooklyn.
You could record Barbra and watch the Oscars with us
Excellent idea even though I will be splitting about then. I don't have a laptop.
-
My condolences to Druxy on the loss of his friend
-
Is Liza a presenter tonight?
Okay, she and Lorna, annd Joey are here to commerate THE WIZARD OF OZ.
-
Condolences to the Marshall family

The TV series "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" was a staple of my youth.
We watched the movie last night and I was thinking I would enjoy watching episodes of the tv show.
-
Is Liza a presenter tonight?
Makes sense to celebrate WoO. The IMAX version I saw last year in-between treatments was fantastic! I wonder who the recipients are for the Hersholt and the Lifetime awards.
-
BK, it sounds like last night's Pure Imagination show was a great experience - so very nice of hem to honor you like that
-
what station is carrying the Oscars tonight?

Now I am counting like DR JANE.
Darn, I missed that.

The film "Ghost and Mrs. Muir" is soooooo romantic, the music is wonderful (Herrmann) and the whole cast is great! The TV show is a sitcom with the late great Edward Mulhare in the Rex Harrison role, and with the one-of-a-kind, late and sorely missed Charles Nelson Reilly. He just cracks me up!
-
Who is that man with Liza?
-
16
-
what station is carrying the Oscars tonight?
ABC
-
DR Dan, So very true about the movie. Mulhare was very sexy as the Captain and the tv show was more fun which was smart for a sitcom.
-
Has anyone seen "The Life of Reilly" which was a documentary and record of CNR's one-man show before he passed away? I'm still getting caught up with what I missed during my illness.
-
Who is that man with Liza?
Don't know, but with her scorecard, he's got a good chance of being gay.
-

I liked Mulhare. I think he was in one of the "Flint" movies with James Coburn.

Looked like David Gest to me.
-
Has anyone seen "The Life of Reilly"
I seem to recall seeing this quite some time ago and enjoying it.
-
Does anyone know who the music director is for the show? It's usually been Bill Conti.
-
what station is carrying the Oscars tonight?
ABC
Speaking of which, has anyone noticed that ABC seems to be on Channel 7 in a lot of cities?
-
Stepped away from my iPad to prepare and eat dinner and had 6 pages of posts to catch up on!
-

The title of our discussion brings to mind Cloris Leachman in "History of the World, Part I" when she ends Madame deFarge's meeting on a high note and "sings" a high note. Very funny scene: why do we all talk like Maurice Chevalier?

In Tucson, it's on channel 9. I miss being in a major market where the channels make intuitive sense.

I picked up some Irish bangers today, but I still have a half a roast chicken left from last night -
so should dinner be bangers and bakes beans and mash OR roast chicken, rice, veggies and gravy?
-
I opted for frozen pizza
-
ABC is channel 9 in Cincinnati.
-
Or should I just order a pizza and wings?
-

You can make bangers and mash set to the Sophia Loren/Peter Sellers song of the same name:

-
We had grilled chicken breasts that had marinated in Montgomery Inn BBQ sauce all day, accompanied by oven fries and steamed broccoli.
-
I opted for frozen pizza
We are opting for vegan pizza, delivered. :)
-
Kevin and Cilla, Sally Hawkins did HAPPY-GO-LUCKY some years back with a similar sort of character. I wouldn't be surprised if the BLUE JASMINE part was written with her in mind.
-
Or should I just order a pizza and wings?
Be daring. Order a pizza WITH wings.
-
I was surprised at how young Liza looked.
-
ABC is channel 9 in Cincinnati.
Well, there goes that theory! Actually, I know it's Channel 7 in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington and Buffalo.
-

But is it gluten-free? Has Jayson gone vegan, too?
-
Kevin and Cilla, Sally Hawkins did HAPPY-GO-LUCKY some years back with a similar sort of character. I wouldn't be surprised if the BLUE JASMINE part was written with her in mind.
I'm not familiar with that, Jeanne. I'll have to check it out.
-
DR Jeanne - no, I don't think it is gluten-free. The whole vegan thing was Jayson's idea in the first place.
-
Or should I just order a pizza and wings?
Be daring. Order a pizza WITH wings.
No need for a delivery person. Do you then tip the pizza?
-
Count me among those having pizza. I bought one of those pizza crusts and have some mozzarella cheese, (spaghetti) sauce and mushrooms.
-
Page 17!

She was the lead in HAPPY-GO-LUCKY and IMO really carried the film.

Even without Liza, I would say he is gay.

Nope, Channel 4.

Looked like David Gest to me.
That is what I was thinking.
-
Has anyone watched CROSSING LINES? I saw the first couple episodes and liked it.
-
Some school districts have already announced they'll be closed tomorrow due to the weather forecast. Also, no there will be no bus service.
-
I picked up some Irish bangers today, but I still have a half a roast chicken left from last night -

Roast chicken sounds good to me. I am not sure I get a vote.
-
Thanks for posting the links to the songs, Cilla. I'm no longer the last person in the first world to have heard HAPPY.
-
Kudos to Fred and Skip.
-
I can watch the Oscars live on my laptop because I live inthe right place and have the right cable provider
but I will have to bounce back and forth between the HHW and ABC tabs
-
I'm no longer the last period in the first world to have heard HAPPY.
That would be me. :)
-
How tacky to introduce Laura Dern simply as Bruce Dern's daughter.
-

Do you take the bus to work?
-

Do you take the bus to work?
No, I drive to the Metro (rail) station and take the train. But I'm off tomorrow anyway.
-
Oh no! We are slowing down.
-
We'll speed up again once it starts tongiht

ABC.com keeps going down
-
Reminds me of that great Maltby & Shire song, "A Little Bit Off."
-
Thanks for posting the links to the songs, Cilla. I'm no longer the last period in the first world to have heard HAPPY.
I am the last semi-colon to hear it
-
June Squibb looks great. I think she's 80 years old or something like that
-
I am the last semi-colon to hear it
Fancy, you! ;D
-
June Squibb was Electra in the original GYPSY on Broadway! The things you find out on the Red Carpet.
-
When and why did the Kodak Theatre change to the Dolby Theatre?
-
June Squibb was Electra in the original GYPSY on Broadway!
I did not know this, either. Kinda cool.
-
June Squibb was Electra in the original GYPSY on Broadway! The things you find out on the Red Carpet.
I know, right?
-
Had a really good stumble-through - fun show with great songs. Then I had some Hugo's pasta papa and now I'm home. What time do the actual Oscars start - 6:00? So if I start the pre-show at five it will be fine?
-
Seventeen pages and we're still two hours from the broadcast - pretty damn good if you ask me.
-
Let's go for some broken records, shall we?
-
Hoping RYacko will join us for our partay - it would be his first with us.
-
Page eighteen? Really?
-
I hope everyone likes my gown.
-
How tacky to introduce Laura Dern simply as Bruce Dern's daughter.
Yes that was. She is a fine actor/actress in her own right. Never sure if actor is universally acceptable or actress is still okay.

The Oscar, not the gown. Of course, that too may depend on where you are in the world.
-
I still like this one, should be in a hall of fame or something:

-
Your gown is lovely MR BK.
-
DR Vixmom - you truly look beautiful, and your dress is a lot classier than mine.
-
Bela even got decked out for the red carpet:
-
Your gown is lovely MR BK.
He's such a clothes horse.
-
Cate Blanchett you just wait, Guliana Rancic is more important.
-
Love Cate!
-
It's called a bowler hat...
-
some of these stapless gowns look like a length of cloth wrapped around like a towel
whatever happened to sleeves and straps?
-
Cate does look great. (that rhymes)
-
My navy top is by Carhartt and my sweat pants by Rawlings.
-
whatever happened to sleeves and straps?
What care I? say they. Sleeves and straps are for the little people.
-
Naomi Watts looks wonderful now that is a dress i like
-
How short is Matthew McCounaughey?
-
What! I don't get a swag bag!??!!
-
My preferred clothing medium is velcro.
-
Matt's wife looks great his Mom is a little to old for that keyhole dress
-
How short is Matthew McCounaughey?
5' 11"
-
I like that they have fewer cutaways to the riffraff like Ross and Kelly this year.
-
How short is Matthew McCounaughey?
Nevertheless, there's a lot of good packed into however tall he is!
-
who is sitting in the bleachers? And how do they get those seats?
-
Matt's wife looks great his Mom is a little to old for that keyhole dress
Just seeing them..... Yup the ladies should have traded dresses
-
Let's go for some broken records, shall we?
I have a broken CD. Does that count?

Some school districts have already announced they'll be closed tomorrow due to the weather forecast. Also, no there will be no bus service.
I saw this and checked the website for the school Craig works at, yup it is closed. I don't think he has classes on Monday nights which is good.
-
How surreal is this for you? ABC question. What a stupid question
-
I'd like to hear "not at all, I worked my ass off and I deserve to be here"
-
How tacky to introduce Laura Dern simply as Bruce Dern's daughter.
Yes it is.
-
I'm ready!
You look great!
-
I still like this one, should be in a hall of fame or something:
;D
-
Too much talk by the idiots ....
-
How surreal is this for you? ABC question. What a stupid question
All of their questions are stupid. How proud are you of your son............ your wife...............your husband. Stupid!

I'm kind of going back and forth between ABC and E!

I'm not the biggest Julia Roberts fan. She's ok, but I don't get all the hype
-
I'm not the biggest Julia Roberts fan. She's ok, but I don't get all the hype
Never got her either.
-
Jimmy Kimmel is a little under-dressed. ;)
-
I have no idea where E is located.
-
Oh, wait...it's a bit.
-
Site is loading slowly for me
-
GRAVITY is the only nominee we've seen, too, DR ChasSmith. And we only saw that 'cause we were snowbound in Atlanta and our hotel had it on demand.
GRAVITY is the only nominated film that I've seen, also.
-
Well, I don't know about y'all, but this is what I'm wearing on the red carpet...

I have the same afghan that they had on the back of the couch

-
OK Jimmy Kimmel made me laugh
-
So Ricky is on the back of the recliner above my head, Boo is in my lap and Callie is on a blanket in a chair literally inches away from my feet. Not hard keep track of my family

Druxy, my condolences on the loss of your friend. :(
-
I like JK a lot, although I can't forgive him for foisting Sarah Silverman on us.
-
I love Jimmy Kimmel.
-
TCB we're doing pretty well on the posts. Don't know if anyone will want to read them, but they are posts
I read every single post...ALL of them! :D
-
Usually Jimmy K is somewhat funny, but that was a mean-spirited un-funny bit, doesn't make me want to watch the after-Oscars show
-
TCB we're doing pretty well on the posts. Don't know if anyone will want to read them, but they are posts

now you must comment on them - EVERY single one!
-
Well, at least they can't say that we didn't get to page 21.
-
Good old Will and Jada!
Mr and Mrs America
-
We had better put George on alert.
Do you have a lert to put George on?.....Boo hiss, I know that was bad
Hey, I'm happy with the lert that I have, thank you very much.
;)
-
Usually Jimmy K is somewhat funny, but that was a mean-spirited un-funny bit, doesn't make me want to watch the after-Oscars show
it made me a laugh because I am making comments about these people's clothes and I am sitting here in a sweatshirt and sweatpants
-
DR George did you retrieve the spaghetti from your car in time to save it?
Yes I did. Shortly after I made the post last night, I went out to my car and put it in my fridge. All is well.
-
now you must comment on them - EVERY single one!
A good gambit for doubling our posting totals.
-
Jeremy Renner desn't look so hot without makeup
-
I am sitting here in a sweatshirt and sweatpants
Funny... me, too! :)
-
Looks like Mr Peabody is reporting for ABC
-
Ricky has now jined Boo on my lap

I thought it was funny.
-
Looks like Mr Peabody is reporting for ABC
I was thinking the same thing, like I was watching a cartoon of some sort, waiting for Bullwinkle to show up
-
Oh, the Oscars are on channel seven. I kept waiting for it on channel four.
-
10 minutes till showtime!
-
Now I'm happening. The danish was very tasty.

So, the Oscars start in ten minutes?

Always liked that Dove commercial with the Audrey lookalike

No, eight minutes

So, the Oscars start in ten minutes?
Yes you missed the red carpet

-
Very exciting already. Any interview with the Oscar broadcast producer is a guaranteed yawn inducer - these particular boys are very cocky. Only about three hundred more posts to get us in the top ten.
-
mr Peabody is in the control room
-
5 minutes 30 seconds!
-
Will we never get to page twenty-three?
-
It's a shame it's no longer the Kodak Theatre, Kodak was such a great made-up word/tradename
-
I'm not sure we've ever been quite this far this quickly.
-
I am sorry Chas is not with us but I think he is being a very good friend
-
So, who had the best gown? What male was dressed poorly?
-
Folks, I hate to say this after looking forward to it, but I won't be with y'all this evening during the Oscars.
Hope you have a good time, ChasSmith!
-
Guess I'll make popcorn at some point.
-

-
Paging page twenty-three.
-
Sad that ChasSmith won't be with us, but it's more than understandable.
-
oh popcorn sounds good. I'll wait until the cats move off of me.
-
I have some Nutter Butters and various Girl Scout cookies.
:D
-
I think the Vixter and I will be going to Maleficent

I think the Vixter and I will be going to Maleficent
I want to see it, too.

My best friend in college was hit on by Mr. Spacey back in the 80s, should have taken him up on it

Did Joseph Gordon Levitt brings his boyfriend to the Oscars?
One can hope!

Christian Bale gained 50 pounds to play the role in American Hustle
And what about Christian Bale losing all that weight for "The Machinist"? He was completely emaciated. :P According to the IMDb trivia section for "The Machinist" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361862/trivia):
The producers of the film claim that Christian Bale dropped from about 173 pounds in weight down to about 110 pounds in weight to make this film. They also claim that Bale actually wanted to drop down to 100 pounds, but that they would not let him go below 120 out of fear that his health could be in too much danger if he did. His diet consisted of one can of tuna and an apple per day. His 63-pound weight loss is said to be a record for any actor for a movie role. He regained the weight in time for his role in Batman Begins (2005).
-
My best friend in college was hit on by Mr. Spacey back in the 80s, should have taken him up on it
handsome actors never hit on me
-
Did Joseph Gordon Levitt brings his boyfriend to the Oscars?
I like him, he's a good actor and very eesome!
-
Its ON!!!!!!
-
It's a shame it's no longer the Kodak Theatre, Kodak was such a great made-up word/tradename
Shouldn't the Kodak Theatre be in Alaska?
-
That would be the Kodiak theater
-
My best friend in college was hit on by Mr. Spacey back in the 80s, should have taken him up on it
handsome actors never hit on me
Me, either. :'(
-
Liza was not amused!
-
I think Ellen should cut it short
-
Boy, do I miss Billy Crystal
-
not loving this....
-
Ellen can be funny, but meandering is not
-
I like Anne's dress

This Oscar posting helped me move from Junior to Senior Member! Hooray for me!

This Oscar posting helped me move from Junior to Senior Member! Hooray for me!
You never know what will happen on Oscar night!

Jared Leto!
-
Yeah! I wanted him to win

This Oscar posting helped me move from Junior to Senior Member! Hooray for me!
Congrats, Dan M!

This Oscar posting helped me move from Junior to Senior Member! Hooray for me!
You never know what will happen on Oscar night!
I thought it was fitting to be self-congratulatory on Oscar night! :D
-
and tthe senior membership goes to....
-
Why did Jared not get played off?
-
Jim Carrey, a sign of the Apocalypse!
-
Where are the writers? Too much bad ad-libbing.
-
Where's Bruce Vilanch?
-
The animation thing was strange. None of this years nominees
-
Why did Jared not get played off?
I was wondering that myself.
-
HAPPY!!!!
-
Cila's song!
-
The big statuettes on the stage look like empty shampoo bottles.
-
That would be the Kodiak theater
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
-
LOL Ginny
-
The big statuettes on the stage look like empty shampoo bottles.
Yes, I think they look ridiculous!
-
Commercial...aka potty break.
;)
-
The animation thing was strange. None of this years nominees
I think so too. Chuck Workman used to do these great montages for the Oscars, I guess he doesn't anymore. He may still do some interstitials for Turner Classic Movies.
http://youtu.be/E_fCRE5Xtnc
-
I must have heard it during DM2 but didn't rediscover HAPPY until last week when I was totally stressed out. When it finished playing I was dancing around my office. I love it
-
Not a great song, but nice dancing for once, especially the little girl.
-
Ellen makes me laugh, so I don't mind her too much - she needed some help from a Bruce Vilanch.
-
I don't think Happy is necessarily a great song, it just makes me.....Happy
-
Jared went on way too long - it's not a forum for anything but thanking and getting off. But they can't stop and he should have been played off after thanking his mom.
-
It was perfect for the minions
-
And we're back.
-
Get out your Capital One cards or else!
-
You know what's shameless - when you can clearly see an audience not applauding but you still "hear" applause - same goes for laughs. Who do they think they're kidding?
-
Make-up.
-
Poor women, by the time they got to the stage, their time was almost up
-
They are giving them a lot of time to thank
-
Harrison Ford looks nervous!
-
You know what's shameless - when you can clearly see an audience not applauding but you still "hear" applause - same goes for laughs. Who do they think they're kidding?
Too much sweetening!
-
Harrison Ford looks nervous!
Maybe he thought those "statuettes" were decanters
-
Some good movies this year......
-
I missed the dancing, Precious HAD TO GO OUT and would not take NO for an answer.
-
Hmmm . . . . Channing Tatum and "shorts" in the same sentence, in-joke or what?
-
25
-
So much time taken up by stuff that doesn't matter......what the hell is this?
-
Who is Channing Tatum - the love child of Tatum O'Neal and Carol Channing?
-
It's a lot of time taken up by thing that don't matter
-
I gotta tell you.
-
And what is with the roses?
-
Wow, I see edisaurus - join us.
-
So who needs roses or stuff like that?
-
Holding off on popcorn till the next break.
-
That Trop 50 commercial was 50% less fun
-
Edisaurus!!!!!!
-
Ellen is doing okay....but the show is a drag.....
-
I'm sure Pogue is living it up on HIS discussion board - Facebook.
-
Holding off on popcorn till the next break.
That's what I was thinking
-
The show is lackluster - it usually is, but there's none of the stuff that actually makes it fun in an awful way.
-
TCB we're doing pretty well on the posts. Don't know if anyone will want to read them, but they are posts
I read every single post...ALL of them! :D
I'm impressed. Once I leave for the night I doubt I will read the rest of the posts.
-

Good.
-
What connection do McConnaghey and Novak have to animation?
-
I am sorry Chas is not with us but I think he is being a very good friend
I agree. I think it is nice how all of her friends have all been helping out.
-
Hey I was right, Room on the Broom had a cat in it. It didn't win, but there was a cat
-
The winners for animated short are up in a box!
-
Harrison Ford looks nervous!
You're too kind, DR KevinH!
-
No standing O for Kim Novak, because Ellen ruined the introduction.
-
The winners for animated short are up in a box!
Hair winners were too
-
Wasted opportunity with Kim Novak......do the writers even know who she is...or was? MM was very kindly toward her, though....a gentleman.
-
Kim Novak??? What on earth has she done to herself??? Nice that she was there though.
-
oh popcorn sounds good. I'll wait until the cats move off of me.
Keith will be popping corn and I will have some with him tonight.
-
No one in the audience had a clew who Kim was. You could see that clearly.
-
And Jane will read EVERY SINGLE POST.
-
I want DM2 but it will be Frozen
-
FROZEN just saw this Friday and I loved it
-
Knew it
-
Popular winner for animated feature.
-
Wasted opportunity with Kim Novak......do the writers even know who she is...or was? MM was very kindly toward her, though....a gentleman.
Indeed!

WOW! He didn't have extra to lose to begin with.
-
I haven't seen it yet but I want to
-
Costume winner married to the director....forgot that.....
-
HAPPY!!!!
I may have to find it for Keith to watch before I delete the show.
-
You like me, you really like me is on.
-
What the hell is this crap?
-
Why does there have to be a time-wasting "theme"? That's Neil and Craig to a tee. So silly.
-
Sally wore one of Mary Todd Lincoln's dresses it seems.
-
I can't even watch this self-serving montage of crap.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
The sweetening is nauseating, if you ask me.
-
I really don't get the point of this
-
What connection do McConnaghey and Novak have to animation?
Speaking of McConnaghey, I liked the neckline on his mother's dress.
-
bk, sorry to hear about Marshall Harvey's wife. My assistant editor on two films, Jim Schulte, went on to be Marshall's assistant on a number of films. I visited their editing rooms out in LA several times, and Jim seemed to enjoy working with Marshall very much. Sincere condolensces to Marshall and his family.
-
Gravity had to win that
-
And Jane will read EVERY SINGLE POST.
LOL I doubt it because there will be too many of them.
-
Sally Field's gown remind you of anyone?
-
Good win....although I liked Iron Man 3 as well
-
Hi DR Edi.
-
Welcome back, Edisaurus!
-
I took a break at the commercial and am going to catch up now. Once Keith stops playing his computer game he will want to watch something else.
-
This broadcast is shooting for 6 hours minimum.
-
Zak Efron looks like a Chia pet
-
And Karen O is an aspiration?
-
I just read that Alain Resnais (http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/entertainment/20140302/EU--France-Obit-Resnais/) has died. He was 91 years old.
-
Hey, y'all!
I remember the Oscar food thing from years ago when I went to an Oscar party and we had to make Oscar-themed foods. I won the competition at the party with "Flan's Labyrinth" but other people on HHW sent in hundreds of suggestions and I was up very late reading them all and laughing my head off!
-
This is the worst song ever. And Karen O? Does she not have a last name?
-
And why do they need earphones when it's guitar and voice.
-
And how did that tripe get nominated for Best Song.
-
If that's singing, what do you call what Judy Garland did?
-
really? Seemed like a high school talent show number
-
I just read that Alain Resnais (http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/entertainment/20140302/EU--France-Obit-Resnais/) has died. He was 91 years old.
That last montage did him in...is what I say....
-
And Karen O is an aspiration?
That song got an Oscar nomination? :-\
-
It was awful in the movie, too.
-
HI EDI!!!!!!
-
And how did that tripe get nominated for Best Song.
It had such a great build-up from Ellen's lackluster intro of Zac Efron and his perfunctory intro, so much (yawn) excitement
-
I thought Zac Efron had his jaw wired shut from a "fall on the sidewalk".....
-
Not exactly Moon River or Days of Wine and Roses or Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Popcorn is popping and will soon be wending its way into the hungry maw.
-
Three minutes of entertainment so far....too bad the show has been on an HOUR.
-
Where in tarnation is RYacko.
-
I think I will eat an ice cream cone....well part of one....Precious will want the rest.
-
Film people here in Atlanta are taking a special interest in the "In Memoriam" segment, to see if Sarah Jones, the camera assistant who died tragically last week will be included. I doubt if she will, but if she is and anyone wonders who she is: http://hollywoodlife.com/2014/03/01/sarah-jones-vampire-diaries-oscars-in-memoriam-not-included/
Arrogant, negligent filmmakers are in deep s#!t.
-
Not exactly Moon River or Days of Wine and Roses or Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing.
A sad state of affairs, 'tis. The bumper music is better.
-
where is Neil Patrick Harris when you need him?
-
I just devoured a huge bowl of popcorn.
-
Kate Hudson = two aspirins on an ironing board

Wasn't Jack Klugman left out last year?
-
We tried to get out film into Oscar competition. (Peter and I have been on the Short List before, with our first film.) We were in the Top 40 out of 150 documentaries, but without a major studio or distributor to promote it, just us, we really didn't stand a chance. :-(
-
Very happy about The Lady in #6; it was great!
-
Sorry, I was in tarnation. Tough to get outta there... :D
-
Are the presenters just random this year, or is it just me?
-
Everything is amazing and fantastic and glorious.....
-
My favorite tweets of the eve so far:
From: Albert Brooks
"The great thing about Hollywood is that they actually think Ukraine is watching the Oscars."
From: Dylan Brody:
"Why is Lisa Kudrow singing in a flapper wig?" #KarenO
-
Oh, Ellen!
-
Ellen is getting no direction
-
Bradley's tux looks just a wee bit tight.
-
Talk talk talk talk talk......
-
Hooray for "20 Feet". They were our big competition, but I had friends who worked on it so I was rooting for them!
-
Bradley AND his tux.....
-
Bradley's tux looks just a wee bit tight.
It seems to be a fad.
-
I'd like to see them try to play off Darlene Love!
:D
-
Oh my......maybe they should have let Kim Novak sing.
-
Nice shout out to Dame Angela!
-
Oh my......maybe they should have let Kim Novak sing.
;D
-
Welcome back, DR Edi!
-
Angela Lansbury........[well are they going to applaud or not?]
-
My DH worked with Darlene Love every MLK Jr. Day until we moved.
-
DR EDI....I was in a short subject this year.....
-
Welcome back, DR Edi!
Huzzah! ;D
-
I would have rather seen Angela Lansbury accept her award tonight than see most of what's happened so far.
-
I thought Ellen started out fine, but boy has she been let down by everyone - including herself. The nadir was sitting with the guitar - why bother?
-
It's really a bore this year, just awful.
-
Well at least they can't say we didn't get to page 28.
-
Strange that the Amex commercials with Tina Fey are in black and white!
-
I'm going to pop some corn.
-
I gotta tell you. It's almost at the ninety-minute mark. It may, in fact, be less than three hours, so that might be a plus.
-
Popcorn was excellent.
-
Really, Jrand? What was the name of it?
-
Decided on cold pizza instead
-
I'm still waiting for Simon Cowell's critique of Darlene Love's song.
-
Too bad Allan Carr isn't around to have the last laugh! At least his production was fun.
-
I gotta tell you. It's almost at the ninety-minute mark. It may, in fact, be less than three hours, so that might be a plus.
I was wondering if they'd get it done in a reasonable amount of time.
-
Medea Goes to the Oscars
-
They need to invent an app where you can press a button to see the identity of the random audience member shot.
-
Tyler Perry is just doing Flip Wilson's act 40 years later.
-
Uh.....I am trying to think of the name of it DR EDI....
-
Mud Lotus.....a film by Chris White....nice little memory film of her growing up in Indiana....
-
Agreed DR DAN M....it was funnier when Flip did it....
-
I think this is the song that won the golden globe
-
I'd love to see it, Jack!
-
I can't listen to this caterwauling.
-
The sweetening of people woo-hooing and screaming is worse as it goes along, especially when it accompanies a wide shot of the audience just sitting there.
-
Oh I have my own IMDB Quiz....it's just one question....the answer is Mud Lotus....in case anyone wants to play.
-
I'd love to see it, Jack!
It should be on You Tube eventually....it played at the Albany (CA) Film Festival last weekend.
-
I can't listen to this caterwauling.
I'm not a fan, either. :P
-
Ordinary Love is Ordinary, all right. I guess the winner will be the thing from Frozen, which, by the way, I've never heard.
-
That song got a standing ovation??
-
The sweetening of people woo-hooing and screaming is worse as it goes along, especially when it accompanies a wide shot of the audience just sitting there.
I think most of the audience is suffering from extreme lassitude.
-
I'm sure Neal and Craig are patting each other on the back. Ellen shouldn't have changed clothes - it didn't help
-
the thing from Frozen
Almost sounds like the title of a horror film.
-
They really need Bruce V. and maybe someday they'll come to realize just how dopey they are not to have him.
-
Maybe it's the 7th inning stretch?
-
Liza's hair is, of course, styled by Teddy.
-
BRUCE PLEASE HELP
What would be your #1 critique of the producers/director of the show? What would pull this show out of the tank?
-
Will the show really go another ninety minutes? Although the commercial breaks are now much more frequent and much longer.
-
For that they stand up?
-
Getting someone in there who isn't cocky and who understands what a SHOW is. Like me.
-
:)
-
Where in tarnation is page thirty?
-
Will we never reach page fifty?
-
Bout time for the Memoriam.....maybe before the next break.....
-
Another 150 posts or so will definitely put us in the top ten, so let's DO it!
-
Teddy must be proud, his hair style has been shown a lot, and it's one of the bext things the show has had to offer!
-
I think they didnt hire any writers at all
-
30!
-
I think a teal push could have helped this show.
-
This is the worst song ever. And Karen O? Does she not have a last name?
It sure is!
-
Liza's hair is, of course, styled by Teddy.
Cool!
-
Getting someone in there who isn't cocky and who understands what a SHOW is. Like me.
I'd vote for you to direct.
-
If that's singing, what do you call what Judy Garland did?
;D
-
If Charlize shrugs....we're off the air....
-
Time for the Sound Editors...
-
Skip won't win but that's who I'm rooting for!
-
If Charlize shrugs....we're off the air....
She has see through straps, the dress isn't going to fall
-
Gravity again
-
If Charlize shrugs....we're off the air....
When I think of sound design/editing, Charlize is the first name that pops into my head!
-
More GRAVITY and more talk of amazing.....
-
Oh! He did win! I didn't hear his name for "Gravity". He should have won an Oscar years ago!
-
Wow there are either three short guys or one really tall guy
-
Pop corn is ready and season two, episode one of "Sherlock" is in the DVD player.
'night
-
Gravity again
That means it won't get Best Picture. It's being acknowledged at the lower tier awards.
-
Oh! He did win! I didn't hear his name for "Gravity". He should have won an Oscar years ago!
Yeah!
-
Gravity again
That means it won't get Best Picture. It's being acknowledged at the lower tier awards.
Not necessarily
-
Wow there are either three short guys or one really tall guy
Yup...that was one tall dude!
-
3 for Gravity so far
-
So, what's the black ribbon with the white dots for?
-
You know that GRAVITY had to have been supported by NASA: no UFOs
-
has she pronounced anybody's name correctly yet?
-
Best Actress in a Supporting Role next....
-
So, what's the black ribbon with the white dots for?
Dominoes anyone?
-
I think the black ribbon is for Sarah:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-campaign-urges-nominees-presenters-684340
-
Lupita Nyong'o!
-
I think the black ribbon is for Sarah:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-campaign-urges-nominees-presenters-684340
That's good. This show has been like watching people play dominoes.
-
I think the black ribbon is for Sarah:

Thanks for the link, Edi.
-
"...the invisible performer in the editing room"... you go, girl!
-
WOW! It's BASKIN-ROBBINS'S favorite number now!
-
The play-off music is perfect after her speech.
-
PURE IMAGINATION
-
The play-off music is perfect after her speech.
That's when the best music has been played on tonight's show (and the bumpers).
-
True DR DAN M....
Nice speech....
-
I've heard that song before - Pure Imagination. I forgot to mention, for two weeks we've been told that today's matinee was sold out, which is why they could not cancel, despite all of us asking them to end last night without Lloyd having to miss the final show. Final audience tally: 37. And that's all I'm saying about THAT.
-
The guys bringing in the ballots were wearing ribbons for Sarah. That tragedy has caused a real stir in the filmmaking world and is going to cause future productions to think twice about putting their crews in jeopardy.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Let's get to the WOO segment please...... Lorna and Joey and Liza didn't get all dressed up for nothing, you know. I hope they had good writers.
-
In another page or two we'll pass last year's posts - which put us in the top ten.
-
This is the worst song ever. And Karen O? Does she not have a last name?
Yes, Kimmel.
-
More time wasting....mega waste of time....
-
sorry the pizza thing isn't doing it for me
-
It's never fun to watch others have fun. There's no consideration of the home viewer. I still think the Jimmy Kimmel bit was all too prophetic in making fun of the people at home.
-
ok the Harvey Weinstein thing was a little funny
-
Oh wow....she's a full figured gal.
-
You know what you get with three pillars, a stool. Not that I'm referring to the show or anything.
-
do you think maybe Ellen refused to pay the ransom and the writer is holding the script hostage?
-
What show am I watching? Pizza - funny, a tiny bit, but what show am I watching?
-
Hundreds of crews all over the world put Sarah's name on their slates for a day with various touching messages. It was moving to see them all edited together. There was a memorial service today for her at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I didn't go because I have the flu but there was a big crowd; hundreds of film folks there.
-
Liza is looking to get in a few too many shots.
-
Wonder how many Oscar gowns are getting sauce dripped on them
-
It'll be a sad moment when the Price-Waterhouse guys have the best bit. So far, they've got a real shot.
-
Edi I am very sorry to hear about Sarah - i must have missed an earlier post -
-
Glenn Close is back in the cheap seats.
-
Awwww...Harold Ramis...I'm surprised Bill Murray mentioned him since they had such a falling out years ago. (Bill Murray's fault, apparently...)
-
Nice little adlib tribute to Harold Ramis , Bill Murray
-
Wonder how many Oscar gowns are getting sauce dripped on them
Can you imagine if someone actually dropped a pizza slice on one of them??

From: Gerard Mulligan (Letterman writer)
"Who did Liza play in 12 Years a Slave?"
-
Here, Ginny:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/midnight-rider-accident-sarah-jones-684877
-
I still think Gravity will not win Best Picture because it's winning too many earlier ones. I've noticed that in recent years, in an effort to be "fair", the voters seem to split the difference so that all Best Picture nominees get "something".
-
Editors!
-
From: Gerard Mulligan (Letterman writer)
"Who did Liza play in 12 Years a Slave?"
He's a very funny writer. Ellen sure could have used his help tonight.
-
someday I hope to hear your name announced in this catergory , Edi
-
someday I hope to hear your name announced in this catergory , Edi
Ditto!! :D
-
I need to see Gravity. I flew back from Berlin on Friday (mixed and color-corrected our new film last week) and it was one of the offerings but I thought it would put me to sleep!
-
Spoo!! :o
-
I need to see Gravity. I flew back from Berlin on Friday (mixed and color-corrected our new film last week) and it was one of the offerings but I thought it would put me to sleep!
try and see it on the big screen in 3D
-
Thanks Ginny, but unfortunately, documentary editors don't get their own award, even though they kind of direct the film! I was really hoping AKA DOC POMUS would get nominated because it's the best work I've done, and such great story to be able to tell through the editing. (I edited the hell out of it!)
-
Oh no....say it ain't so.....they wouldn't do that.....
They did it....
-
Over the Rainbow? Why?
-
Okay, why they should NEVER let these people do this show again - if you have Liza, Lorna and Joey and you're asking them to stand, why would you show them for all of two seconds and never cut back to them again. Are these people just completely inept?
-
Some. Whe...rover...the...rainbow...
Ack...
-
I can't listen to this......
-
Some (breath) where, o (breath) ver the rainbow.
::)
-
Who or what is Pink? I cannot stand the processed sound on her voice and the riffing - feh.
-
Birds...fly...yover...the...rainbow...
Teach these people how to breathe, bk!
-
They'll probably stand up for this crap
-
Okay, why they should NEVER let these people do this show again - if you have Liza, Lorna and Joey and you're asking them to stand, why would you show them for all of two seconds and never cut back to them again. Are these people just completely inept?
"cause they no longer had pizza boxes in front of them of course!
-
Here's the selfie they took in the audience http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2014/03/ellens-epic-oscars-selfie-belongs-in-a-museum/ (http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2014/03/ellens-epic-oscars-selfie-belongs-in-a-museum/)
-
Who IS Pink? And why is she called Pink? Are they standing up? Of course. They think they're watching American Idol.
-
They'll probably stand up for this crap
Yup...a standing O. I don't think so.
-
arethey applauding Pink or WOO?
-
Some. Whe...rover...the...rainbow...
Ack...
Oh, my...
-
Travesty......and symbolic of all that is wrong with this show....
-
Why couldn't they have had Liza sing it? That would have been a poignant moment.
-
I can't believe that was Joey Luft.
-
The publicity for the show made it sound like Judy's kids were going to actually participate in the tribute to The Wizard of Oz, not just sit in the audience.
-
Is Bette singing for the Dead People segment?
-
Not quite ready for the top ten, but soon.
-
Why couldn't they have had Liza sing it? That would have been a poignant moment.
Lorna and Liza could've done a duet...THAT would've been a great moment.
-
Page 33!
-
It sure did DR KEVIN H.....would have been better just to show the film clip....
-
Why couldn't they have had Liza sing it? That would have been a poignant moment.
YES!!!
-
I just don't like these singers today. The little girl who did Over the Rainbow at last month's Kritzerland show was MUCH better. And yes, Liza croaking it would have at least had a POINT. That's what eludes these cocky producers - the POINT.
-
I think Liza and Lorna had tears in their eyes.....I know I did....but maybe not for the same reason
-
Page thirty-three? Really?
-
Is Bette singing for the Dead People segment?
There'll be more life in that segment.
-
So far, for me, the best part about the Oscar broadcast has been the Tina Fey AmEx commercials.
-
Here's the selfie they took in the audience http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2014/03/ellens-epic-oscars-selfie-belongs-in-a-museum/ (http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2014/03/ellens-epic-oscars-selfie-belongs-in-a-museum/)
This is probably my favorite picture of Bradley Cooper ever:
-
Good thing Pogue is on Facebook where all of two to three people will see his posts, should he be making them :)
-
OK that was kinda fun sight gag
-
But the timing was off (as with everything else about this so-called production)
-
Hmmmm......I liked GATSBY but it seemed more computer generated than designed and built.
-
so Gravity has 5 so far - Gatsby 1
12 years a Slave -1
-
Lemme guess, the costume designer is the director's wife, so is she his sister-in-law?
-
But the timing was off (as with everything else about this so-called production)
it really reminds me of a high school production where the teacher in charge is "winging it"
-
More crapola.
-
so Gravity has 5 so far
Only 5? It seems like so many more.
-
What is this heroes crap - is that what this show is about? The POINT, producers, the POINT.
-
Gatsby has 2....she won costume design as well....
-
Again what the heck does this have to do with THIS year's Oscars?
-
Gatsby has two, not one.
-
Thanks for posting that, George!
-
These clip-jobs are so random and pointless.
-
At no point does someone stand up and say "Why do we need this heroes crap?"
-
Yeah, they could lose these montages. There is no POINT as someone I know would say
-
All of these time wasting segments had some kind of hero theme.....barely....would hardly call it a point.
-
And lots of big sweetened applause to cap it.
-
We are closing in on the two and a half hour mark.
-
sorry I forgot Gastby's costumes
-
Which means we're probably going to three hours, which is exactly what they planned to do - I don't know why I thought they'd like to come in early - they can't - they have to get all the adverts in.
-
That was a cute Pepsi commercial.
-
so we have 40 more minutes to go?
-
We have entered the top ten!
-
Yeah it's scheduled to go another 40 minutes
-
Forty minutes to go - or more. Just can't be less. Don't know why that fact has eluded me.
-
I think I fell asleep an hour ago and I'm in a dream where I'm watching a horrible Oscar telecast... and posting about it.
-
Gratuitous Post #1001!!
;)
-
TCB are you close to your millstone?
-
This year's show is really lame.
-
Which means we're probably going to three hours, which is exactly what they planned to do - I don't know why I thought they'd like to come in early - they can't - they have to get all the adverts in.
It's better than the 4 and 1/2 hour show one year. That was painful. :P
-
There's a local ad saying "Try not to laugh too much during Ellen's jokes". No problem there. Haven't found any despite what the sweetened audience tells me.
-
so just in case anyone is interested -- dinner ended up being roast chicken sandwiches, on toasted multigrain bread, with some gravy as a dressing , sliced breast meat, stuffing and cranberry sauce
-
Frank Rich just Tweeted:
"This is so tedious. In Memorium will be an up."
-
Forgot to say that I loved Jennifer Garner's dress.
-
This year's show is really lame.
in 9 more posts Edi will have 12345 posts
-
Finally, a smart move. Full screen presentation of memorial segment, without the stupid moving camera.
-
Thank goodness they're doing the "In Memoriam" right this year, where you can actually read their names.
-
And no applause for just the "popular" ones.
-
Bette!
-
I am sorry Edi, they ignored Sarah
-
I didn't expect to see Sarah's name in memoriam, but was just hoping. I didn't know Juanita Moore had passed away. :-(
-
I guess this will be the obituary song now, move over "Candle in the Wind".
-
sung beautifully and simply - no yodeling and no huge earplugs and wires running down her back
-
Didn't Bette sing this for Johnny Carson just before he exiled himself?
-
George, I think they cut the audience mics, so it wouldn't seem like a popularity contest.
-
George, I think they cut the audience mics, so it wouldn't seem like a popularity contest.
It's about time.
-
And....that's how it's done......
-
Didn't Bette sing this for Johnny Carson just before he exiled himself?
you know I just saw that clip a couple of weeks ago
-
" you know I feel it...."
-
That says a lot when the obituaries get a standing O as the best part of the program.
-
I think they cut the audience mics, so it wouldn't seem like a popularity contest.
Would that THIS would become a new tradition.
-
Was that Bette saying how she thought the song went?
-
Frank Rich just Tweeted. That is the world in which we live.

Amen

Frank Rich just Tweeted. That is the world in which we live.
and what did he Tweet, pray tell
-
Bette's comment was cut off in my feed.....
-
Didn't Bette sing this for Johnny Carson just before he exiled himself?
She might've sung it on the episode, but the last song was "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)." I remember that she sang it because it was Johnny Carson's favorite song.
-
See RYacko's post a page back.
-
Annette.....Deanna Durbin.....Eleanor Parker......
-
BTW, a story that I cut in AKA DOC POMUS was the fact that Doc gave Bette her start. He discovered her in the baths, got her first recording deal, refined her act, her wardrobe, her arrangements, cleaned up her act and got her her first appearance on Johnny Carson. They she completely turned her back on him and kicked him to the curb. I am no longer a fan.
-
Yes, at least we could see the names this year.
-
Idina should be coming up soon.
-
And Sarah Jones was there at the very end in a little sidebar thing.
-

That's right - with special lyrics I think
-
And Sarah Jones was there at the very end in a little sidebar thing.
That was a nice touch.

why did you cut it?
-
U2, Pink, and Bette! Great job on the tunes....
Loved the deep red of Pink's dress
-
How did I miss that? Sidebar?
-
Well, good for the Academy!
-
Or did I misread that as cut from?
-
Ginny, LOL! Thanks for noticing that...I'll have to make at least 2 more posts!
-
I have been looking forward to this
-
What did John Travolta call Idina?
-

Sad... not cool at all
-
Is that her character name?
Does she sing through her nose in the movie?
-
while they showed the photos it was the theme from Somewhere in Time, which was appropriate since the writer of Somewhere in Time passed away
-

why did you cut it?
Vixmom, Edisaurus is no longer a fan of Bette's.
-
why is she eating her microphone?
-
Oh I had to rewind, but I saw the Sarah Jones at the bottom of the screen
-
Eye-deena Menzel.
-
Ginny, we would have kept it in if she had given us an interview. But as it was, it was just a bummer of a story. 3/4ths of the way through the film it started becoming one story after another with no flow, a "string of pearls" as a director friend of mine said. She was right, so I completely dismantled it and tried to build bigger themes and if I couldn't tie a story in with anything else, it was dropped.
-
Barbra's musical director: Bill Ross!
-
18 minutes and still need best actor best actress, best song , best movie
-
Nice that they showed the "live" musicians. I wonder if they're playing from across the street somewhere.
-
Travolta lost his contacts on the way? He did a complete Swedish Chef number on Idina's name.
-
Edi it was a box at the bottom of the screen after they showed the standing O. It said "Sarah Jones" and "complete in memoriam gallery at Oscar.com" It also had a little photo of her
-
Is that 6 for Gravity now?
-
Mispronouncing her name is really unforgivable. He knows ahead of time who he's introducing and can practice the name if he needs to!
-
I think the orchestra is in the Capitol Records building, right? I have a fondness for it because of Johnny Mercer.
-
Breathlessly waiting for bk's "take" on "Let It Go," hearing it for the first time.
-
I should stop at post 12345, but I can't!
-
Mispronouncing her name is really unforgivable. He knows ahead of time who he's introducing and can practice the name if he needs to!
Agreed.

Is Kevin Spacey sitting with his boyfriend?

Yes - because of her treatment of Doc Pomus I am assuming but was the story cut from the documentary? (I am sorry to say I have not yet seen it-)
-
but I can't!
Never stop, DR Edi!!! :-*
-
I do have to say that was a very creative acceptance speech
-
I should stop at post 12345, but I can't!
Oh don't stop....there will be other millstones
-
Anti-climactic Oscars. Even the songs are boring. At least we got to see John Williams (that is, those of us who are soundtrack geeks).
-
Okay, I've heard nothing but that Let It Go is the best thing since Menken and Ashman, so imagine my surprise when I heard a tuneless, meandering song with awful "empowering" lyrics and no ending. I have never been a fan of Idina Menzel and if she held the mic any closer to her mouth it would have been down her throat. And what did John Travolta call her? Do these people never look at the names in advance of going out on that stage? It's not like they surprised him - they must have given him his copy.
-

AH! Thansk for the explanation
BTW you keep mistaking me for Ginny--- I cut my hair in a similar style and let the natural color come in ... sincerest form of flattery ya know.... :):)
-
Ten minutes to three hours.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Page thirty-six? Really?
-
This IS the best partay on all the Internet.
-

Oh, I see what you mean.
-
Well TCB and I made sure we had a good head start this afternoon :)
-
I have a feeling the director gave Ellen the same advice that was given to Dave Letterman, and we all know how that went!
-
I gotta tell you.
But will you? Will you? :)
-
Just saw this on Twitter by an unknown:
"Chenoweth was seen paying off John Travolta backstage."
-
Very unusual seeing Penelope Cruz with all of her clothes, very unlike her movie appearances.
-
I need to see Before Midnight. I saw the first two films and would love to see the last one
-
Just saw this on Twitter by an unknown:
"Chenoweth was seen paying off John Travolta backstage."
now THAT's funny!
-
Ish Kabibble. Ish Kabibble. Ish Kabibble.
There.
(I just like saying it)
-
I should stop at post 12345, but I can't!
But at least it can be preserved for posterity!

;D
-
I dunno... can we make it to 40?
-
I think the way things are falling, Scorsese will win Best Picture.
-
Who knew there were so many typewriters left in the world?
-
I saw both Nebraska and 12 years a slave... both are excellent films
-
Spike Jonze, a former MTV music video director and heir to the Spiegel catalog.
-
I was surprised to see that many typewriters also!
-
Ellen bombed with that last joke.
-
Nice speeches.....
-
Ellen bombed with that last joke.
Yes, did you catch her frowning just before the cutaway. She knows she's laid a big ostrich egg.
-
Try a post, DR CLaFong.... we won't bite! :)
-
I know people really like Her - I thought it was okay, but ultimately didn't really get to me.
-
I didn't know that DR DAN M.
I should let him know they sent me the wrong size pants when I was in the fifth grade.
-
CLaFong is our beloved Marshall Harvey. All our love and blessings to him.
-
We are now officially OVER TIME.
-
Page thirty-seven? Really?
-
We have crossed the three-hour mark.
-
Ellen surely knows as a standup comedian when she needs sweetening to try to convince others to laugh, she's not on her game.
-
CLaFong is our beloved Marshall Harvey. All our love and blessings to him.
Many, many blessings! XXXXXOOOOOXOXOXOXO
-
CLaFong is our beloved Marshall Harvey. All our love and blessings to him.
Yes, indeed. Our hearts go out to you.
-
Best Picture to Scorsese.
-
Best picture will be Gravity
-
Sounds like Bill Dana won an Oscar...
-
Cuaron directed one of the best in the Harry Potter series.
-
I am thinking there is a split vote and Leo will get in there.....we shall see.
-
Sounds like Bill Dana won an Oscar...
Bill Dana's real name was William Szathmary and I think he wrote the theme song for "Get Smart".
-
I suspect we're going to three-and-a-half hours.
-
We shall indeed see what we shall see.
-
Looks like it may be a pretty good sweep for Gravity. It's a shame Philomena is being completely ignored.
-
That Google ad in the last break was nice.
-
If they would have cut out the montages and some of the other goofy crap they'd be doing fine
-
What did that guy who wrote FROZEN win a Tony Award for?
-
Looks like it may be a pretty good sweep for Gravity. It's a shame Philomena is being completely ignored.
Agreed. I was hoping it would at least get screenplay.
-
Welcome, DR CLaFong, and hugs to you...
-
We've seen at least 4 black ribbons for Sarah on people accepting awards for "Gravity".
-
Another interesting fact DR DAN M
-
Yes, hugs to DR CLaFong
-
I am thinking there is a split vote and Leo will get in there.....we shall see.
You know that the Academy loves Leo and won't let him go away empty-handed. I'm not a fan, but I agree. There's been a trend in splitting votes.
-
I'm not a Leo fan, either.
-
do you think Ellen is imagining the terrible reviews that are going to be posted? It will be another 7 years before they invite her back
-
What did that guy who wrote FROZEN win a Tony Award for?
If I'm not mistaken--The Book of Mormon.
-
Sandra Bullock always seems to be in gimmicky pictures. Since SPEED, never have been a fan. Hooray for Cate!
-
What did that guy who wrote FROZEN win a Tony Award for?
He co-wrote the book, music and lyrics to The Book of Mormon.
-
As expected-Cate.

What did that guy who wrote FROZEN win a Tony Award for?
If I'm not mistaken--The Book of Mormon.
What he said.
;)
-
do you think Ellen is imagining the terrible reviews that are going to be posted? It will be another 7 years before they invite her back
I think she's pretty secure with her show and won't worry too much.
-
I love Cate Blanchette. She was also great in Monuments Men
-
Welcome DR ClaFong - I am deeply sorry for your loss
-
Not feeling the love with Cate's earrings but I like her comment about women!
AMEN!
-
At least by giving the award to Cate, they acknowledge Woody who has been getting a bad rap without a fair hearing.
-
Welcome ClaFong.. condolences foryour loss
-
I love Cate Blanchette. She was also great in Monuments Men
She was good in that movie. I liked that movie also
-
What's the deal with Jennifer Lawrence's walk-on? Not classy or funny.

Matthew.
-
No surprises in the acting categories!
-
Both worthy wins.....
-
No surprise there
-
the actor from 12 years of slave was robbed.
-
what is the page count record?
-
Maybe I am basing my judgement on the face I have not seen Matthew's movie. It hasn't shown in Fargo yet
-
Matthew just suddenly morphed into a revival preacher
-
Matthew just suddenly morphed into a revival preacher
I'd listen.
-
That was a long speech.
-
I was waiting for him to call for an Alleluia from the audience
-
Ellen has no material at all.
-
I like Will Smith
-
This morning Paul said he would tease me forever for liking Gravity. I'm really hoping it wins so I can say neener neener neener
-
Ironic having Will Smith present Best Picture as his movie just won a Razzie award.
-
12 years a Slave!
-
Proud of Matthew McConaughey for accepting his award with a shirt on.
-
Well poo.
-
Best pic: 12 Years a Slave
-
I guess the Academy likes Brad better than Leo this year.
-
This morning Paul said he would tease me forever for liking Gravity. I'm really hoping it wins so I can say neener neener neener
Silly Paul... Gravity was a great movie
-
And that's a wrap.
-
CLaFong, sincere condolences on your loss. BTW, my assistant editor in Atlanta, Jim Schulte, was your assistant, too. I would try to see the films he worked on and always admired your editing.
-
Having no experience with show biz, I would have to say that the Academy rations out awards just like it was 13th grade.
-
Oh Ellen take the week off and get some material.
-
I loved GRAVITY....DALLAS BUYERS CLUB....BLUE JASMINE.....haven't seen Philomena or 12 Years yet....AUGUST:OSAGE COUNTY was okay....
-
Goodnight!
-
I guess Jennifer Lawrence's remarks referred to her tripping on her dress last year?
-
And so to bed.
-
I haven't seen 12 years, not sure I want to. I'm not surprised it won. I did get the book on my Nook, so I'll read it and decide
-
It'll be interesting to see if they skip the news now and segue straight to Jimmy....
-
I guess Jennifer Lawrence's remarks referred to her tripping on her dress last year?
I'm not sure
-
Al Gore's daughter Kristin was one of the "principal writers". Can't say that she helped or hurt the show, but this isn't a highwater mark on the CV. Except that no one will remember the show a week from now.
-
Does Mr. Sherman get royalties for their use of "Chim Chim Cheree"?
-
G'night all. Now, off to do some glamorous laundry.... :D
-
It'll be interesting to see if they skip the news now and segue straight to Jimmy....
Here on the left coast, the next program is "On the Red Carpet at Oscars," then Jimmy Kimmel.
-
well nobody can say we didn't get to page 40
-
G'night all. Now, off to do some glamorous laundry.... :D
Hi Ho the glamorous life
-
Matthew was embarrassing.
-
Guess I'll have to watch 12 Years a Slave one of these fine days.
-
well it is tomorrow
-
I gotta tell you.
-
OK...I am going to try and get some sleep. It's been rare lately. Nytol!
-
Right now this has become the eighth highest posting day in our history. If we get a little higher we can get into seventh place - we're not that far off, actually. Our highest posting day was also an Oscar cast - we topped 2,000 posts on that memorable occasion.
-
Page forty? Really?
-
and there is no snow yet -- hopefully it snowed itself out on the way northeast and we dodged the bullet....
-
OK...I am going to try and get some sleep. It's been rare lately. Nytol!
Good night Edi! Don;t be a stranger!
-
I want to see August: Osage county . I am waiting for th eFargo to get it.
The marcus theatres in Fargo (they have 15 screens) refuses to screen anything distributed by Paramount and a another company in their theatres.
Teh FArgo has shown 12 Years a Slave and Nebraska
-
Thanks for the fun Oscar party, BK! As soon as I hear the latest snowpocalypse report I'm going to bed - 'night!
-
Good evening. I didn't have anything to add to the posts about the Oscars.
-
It's been quite a partay and let's keep it going!
-
I think dear reader Laura has PLENTY to add.
-
So let's hear it.
-
Jump in Laura.. the water is warm!
-
I haven't seen a movie in years.
-
Stay safe Ginny!
-
Well, since we're so close...

PAGE 41 GRATUITOUS POST #1200 DANCE!! :))

I am so sorry for your loss, CLaFong.
-
Pogue, who I enjoy raking over the coals here for leaving us, posted on Facebook that he enjoyed the Oscars. Uh huh. And 0 people have responded or "liked" his post. As always, I say "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" :) I figure if I keep it up he'll come here and call me a yahoo or something fun. I encourage him to do so, but he lives and breathes the other place and I'm jiggy with that.

I've enjoyed my very first HHW Oscars partay!
-
It's always a swell party, Dan M.
-
I think the only cohesiveness that the telecast had, notwithstanding the alleged theme of "Heroes" (funny that, since it refers to a revived NBC show on an ABC broadcast), was provided by the music director and orchestra. They even had the good sense to be at another location away from the rotten smell emanating from the Dolby.
-
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and condolences. It's bizarre to be watching the Oscars without my wife Anne.
I have been watching 1 hour behind with the DVR so I can skip most of the annoying commercials.
Ellen is a fine host....many ,many costume changes.
This show is better than last year. I like the hero montages except that 90 percent of the clips are from comic book movies from the last ten years. What happened to an appreciation of film
History? Poo poo on any silent clips - they are going for the ratings, baby! Notice that there no
Clips from Star Wars? Lucas controls all that and won't give permission?
Jared Leto has the best speech of the night. Heartfelt, personal and politically correct.
Good for Spike Jones. I met him once and he is a down to earth nice chap.
-
Marshall, when was that photo that Peter Hackman posted of you two at the Oscars taken? Not tonight.
-
The Travolta gaffe will go down in Oscar history.
-
I feel like a nice, hot shower.
-
Need to put the motor car away now.
-
Page forty-one? Really?
-
We're over 1200 postings now.
-
Well, the broadcast with commercials was three hours, 34 minutes and 22 seconds (according to my DVD burner). I recorded it to my DVD burner as it was showing so I wouldn't have to use up the space on my DVR. I'm now going to cut out the commercials and see how long the actual show was. :)
-
You can place the blame on the director, but more than likely on the producers. I don't think there was ever any consideration for the viewing audience. Ellen is a good host, but she needs direction and material. Bruce Vilanch and Billy Crystal always updated their schtick at the commercial break. The shows flowed well and they were able to adjust as things developed. Tonight, it was like someone was given a big, expensive car, but they forgot they had the wheel. The show just veered off and was not entertaining. There were attempts at making jokes out of things no one at home saw (e.g., Jennifer Lawrence's fall) so we could not participate in the humor, what little there was.
-
Good night, everyone.
-
Good night? It's EARLY.
-
posting, posting, posting...
-
'Night DR Laura!
-
Back, and jumping right to the last page, an incredible Page 41. This is wonderful!
Wow!! I'll never ketchup tonight, so will enjoy reading from about Page 13 all the way to the bitter end tomorrow morning over my coffee and some delicious King Cake that a kind soul gave me.
-
The Oscars. Oh my god. I laughed. I cried.
-
Maybe someone already pointed this out, but at the Red Carpet there was a huge KIMMEL banner mounted on the building across the street. Then the camera pulled back and there was the JIMMY. Oy!
-
Peter and I went to the Oscars two years ago. It's much more fun to be there live....
When you see it replayed on TV you realize how much they rely on canned applause!
But, that's show biz!
The highlight is sticking around on the red carpet after the ceremony. As people leave
The Governor's Ball, they are stuck there waiting for their limos. It's a great opportunity to meet people. Henry Stanny and I got to talk to Ennio Morricone seven years ago. And two years ago,
Peter Hackman was able to meet John Williams. Bruce -- maybe we should go next year??
-
The bit in which the Margaret Herrick Library was mentioned made me wish that that was the theme of the show. Not this verruckt "heroes" theme which was less than successful and did not unify any segments of the program.
-
Yes, let's go next year. The canned applause and laughs is so blatantly obvious - do they think we viewers can't see what they're showing us - people sitting there not applauding, screaming or laughing.
-
There's only one Kimmel and he was around long before Jimmy.
-
I'm feeling page forty-two soon.
-
We're currently our seventh highest posting day but here's the thing - a mere twenty to thirty posts more and we'll be in fifth position. Let's GO for it.
-
I can't possibly do it alone.
-
Let's turn a damned page.
-
I think darling ChasSmith best pitch in here and do his belated bit.
-
Page forty-two? Really?

Is anyone going to see Ennio Morricone in concert? I wish I could. As for John Williams, I have had a recurring dream on and off for several years that I was having lunch with him. Don't know why. About 30 years ago, I wrote to him c/o The Boston Pops. I waited and waited for a response. After 6 months, I pretty much gave up. But, he came through. He wrote me a very nice note and signed it with a great John Williams flourish. The wait was worth it and I've always thought of him as a genuinely good person. Plus, he and I have Floral Park, NY in common.

I'm forever blowing bubbles.

Does anyone sing that song anymore?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I see vixmom here. Is her head on the keyboard? Does anyone hear snoring?
-
Vixmom has probably left the room. C'mon, it's early.
-
I took photographic evidence as requested by DR Jrand63. Will post tomorrow.
-
Does anyone sing that song anymore?
I'm watching the Burns & Allen Show; I bet George sang that song!

I wonder if it will take me as long to read Pages 13 through 40 as it took y'all to write them.

. . . . or endure the inanity of the Oscars telecast. To paraphrase Herbert Morrison, "Oh, the inanity!", as the blimp of a show fell over.
-
So, apropos of nothing, and after all the hoohah, if we get any snow at all overnight, it will be but a dusting -- not 6 to 8 inches, 3 to 5 inches, or even 1 to 3 inches. It's all veering to the south of us. Yay!! :)

Someone should post in the control booth at the Academy Awards that brevity is the soul of wit, and the soul of an entertainment. Padding is only necessary if your trying to fill out a Santa suit.
-
I cannot get over Pink - how does that become a hit singer? Breathing in between syllables? I mean, does she even have a clew as to what she's singing about?
-
It's self-indulgence at it's height, all about her and the processed voice and not the song or its lyric.
-

I can't get into many of the singers like her. Besides the lack of phrasing, I also hate when "singers" reach for the note calling that a style. Whatever happened to: there's the note, hit it, not wend your way to it.
-
I'm cutting out the commercials and I stopped at John Travolta's introduction to "Let It Go," and it sounds like he called Idina Menzel, "Adele dah-Zeem."
:-X
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I have the TV on and I'm hearing Jimmy Kimmel's monologue - not funny.
-
Pink reminded me of the kids who sing the solos in "O Holy Night" at this annual Christmas program, and their utter cluelessness re breathing and breaking up phrases and words.
"A thrill of hope the [gasp]
weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a [gasp]
new and glorious morn."

His pre-Oscar bit was very forced and unfunny. I think you should sue him for disgracing the surname.

Now they're doing some movie parody thing - really not funny.
-
I'm feeling page forty-three may be in our future.

It's self-indulgence at it's height, all about her and the processed voice and not the song or its lyric.
What's really sad is that most people take that as talent, as if she were an actual song stylist.

I think I've seen him (I mean prior to tonight) for all of three or four minutes over the years. No interest, thank you very much. To think that this stuff is Johnny Carson's legacy.
-
And we have achieved our fifth highest posting day ever.
WOOT!
How many to first?
-
HOOOOOOORAY!!!!
-
we could flood with cat, dog, horse, and wild kingdom pictures...
-
AARRGGHH!! I just realized that I MUST go to the store! I feed my cat half a can of cat food in the morning and in the evening. I just gave her the evening half can and that's when I discovered that that was the last can! I have no can to feed her in the morning. I have plenty of dry food, but she really loved the canned food.
I will be back!

Poor kitty!

And NOW I'm leaving.
-
I have a thought - since Ellen was mispronouncing or fumbling almost every name she said, do you think she or one of the director/producers told John Travolta to purposely mispronounce Idina's name? Because Ellen also mispronounced it when she said it later.
-
I don't mind Letterman and Ferguson. I can handle Fallon and Myers in small doses.
There are times I prefer Smiley and Rose completely over them.
-

I would not be surprised by that

Last week Charlie rose had a fascinating interview wiht Bruce Dern.
-
Last week Charlie rose had a fascinating interview wiht Bruce Dern.
Thanks for the heads up on that. I think those are all online.
-
I've got to find the picture(s) I took of Bruce Dern in the late '70s where he was speaking informally to a group of film buffs.
-
Well, it's nearly 1:30 in the morn' and I must be off.
-
I don't mind Letterman and Ferguson. I can handle Fallon and Myers in small doses.
There are times I prefer Smiley and Rose completely over them.
Letterman became self-important and was funny back in 1989. He lost his humor when he lost the Carson gig. He became very embittered and that shows more and more every year. Jimmy Fallon is okay, but he's a lightweight. Seth Meyers is even less than that. Tavis Smiley and Charlie Rose both suffer from the notion that they are more important than their guests. They ask interminable questions that showcase their intelligence rather than let the guest shine. Jack Paar was great at that, so was Carson. Craig Ferguson is a great example of someone who is scripted but makes it look like he's pulling it out of his arse. While I'm at it, I was a big Conan fan, but his TBS show just became a showroom for Warner Bros. product and he their shill.
-

It really was quite interesting. He talked about when he was a kid visiting the Roosevelts. He fell and bumped his head and when he woke up Eleanor was sitting in a chair next to the bed.
-
Dont' have cable so I have not seen Conan when he moved to TBS. I never liked Leno either.
-
Is page forty-four in our future?
-
Dont' have cable so I have not seen Conan when he moved to TBS. I never liked Leno either.
I wasn't either, but he sure was loved by Middle America, the Velveeta crowd. He's really good at disguising his shark-like tendencies. But, he did outmaneuver Letterman, so that was good.
-
Actually, the only talk show on which you will find a conversation is "Theater Talk" on PBS. The others are really just an extension of all the commercials and movie trailers. It only seems like a show.
-
Page forty-three? Really?
-
Page forty-four? Really?
-
On a different tact, I've been watching the early seasons of "All in the Family". The writers, at least in the early seasons, considered each program to be a two-act play. Watching the shows with that in mind has really enhanced my appreciation for not just the writers, but at the skill of the actors and the timelessness of the themes for the most part. Even the dated material still works.
-
In reading about "All in the Family", I discovered that some of the writers in the early days, also wrote for "Mister Ed". Now that's a seismic shift in subject matter!
-
I agree.. some of the older shows still stand up, storywise
I seriously wonder how many of the shows now will stand the test of time
-
I don't think many will. If you know "Seinfeld" you know that has stood the test of time. In fact, I use a kind of "sponge-worthy"ness (Elaine's test) when it comes to purchasing DVD and Blurays. Most movies are one-time only viewings, at least for me.
-
Anyhow, a good night to everyone! Thanks for the party. At least I don't have to clean out any ashtrays ;)
-
Pleasant dreams Dan...
-
I went off this afternoon to do some writing at a coffee shop before meeting a freind. It was not terribly productive as I only managed to crank out two paragraphs. Strange, sometimes i can go to a coffee shop and crank out several pages.
-
At least for one thing I am writing, I have first hand experience: Blizzards and subzero cold
-
I am surprised that they forgot August Schellenberg in the tributes
-
He did TV, Movies, and theatre
He was in Free Willy, New World and a number of films, in addition to tv work. I really enjoyed his work in DreamKeeper.
-
Quiet... however, this church mouse is a tad curious..
-
Amused by an article in the paper... The National weather Service said February was unusually cold. Ummmm... evidently they forgot the complaints on the misery index. That would have corroborated the February cold far sooner.
-
Sad to report that our wonderful Outside the Box editor, Marshall Harvey, lost his wife tonight - 54 years old. She had a heart attack last June, and from then on it was just one complication after another. So very sad.
My condolences...
-
I'm back and a couple of canned cat food cans have been purchased for the next couple of days. Tomorrow, I'll go to Costco and get the 48-can case and all will be well.
-
There are a couple of Indie films I'd like to see
-
Kitty will be happy!
-
I agree.. some of the older shows still stand up, storywise
I seriously wonder how many of the shows now will stand the test of time
Well, if you grow up only watching not-so-good TV, you'll think that it's actually good.
-
Good point... I have watched some bad but started to watch older tv shows. We have MeTV here. There are soem shows I would love to see Bold ONes, Barnaby Jones, and many others
Of this crop there are so few I like. I don't mind Blue Bloods, Chicago Fire, and Big Bang Theory.
Some of the greats are long since gone.
-
I have watched a few shows on line such as Common Law, Leverage, Geeks adn Freaks, and a several others.
I have seen House of Cards, Devanity, The Bay, and several other web based shows.
-
There is a Canadian series I would like to see called Blackstone
-
Some of the stuff they call comedy on television, i dont find really funny.. Its not witty, creative humor. I like more of a dry humor...
-
Wonder how close I am to page 45
-
I do like the British comedies
-
The local ABC affiliate, KOMO TV, just did a segment on Bob Nelson, who was nominated for best original screenplay for "Nebraska."
-
Wonder how close I am to page 45
Let's pad the count. ;)
-
Bob used to be on "Almost Live," which was a sketch comedy show based in Seattle for many years. Also on the show were Bill Nye, the Science Guy and Joel McHale! :)
-
When the show was cancelled, Bob decided that he really wanted to write and the one idea that he took with him to California was what became "Nebraska." It was his very first script and he got an Oscar nomination! That's pretty cool!
-
Well, since we're (finally) so close...
-
I have a curious question
I know actors get royalties for different shows, etc, etc
If they pass away, does their estate still get royalties?
It is something I have wondered as I watch shoes like The Big Valley, Kojack, and even Emergency.

My friend's play came to an end today. They had a very good run and sold out all of their shows.

Still moving forward with the theatre acquisition for your group, George?

I wish you well!

As far as I know, we are. I haven't heard otherwise.
-
I wish you well!
Thanks!!
-
She was really happy that they sold out. They hope to do another play later this year
-

As far as I know, we are. I haven't heard otherwise.
I will continue ot send good vibes
-
Also it is a good omen for the other project and gives the signal that they can sell a show out...
-
One thing I have noticed about cable series is they do not last very long.. one or two seasons at the most.
-
Wonder how close we are to page 46
-
We are only about 190 posts roughly out of 4th place
-
first place has over 2000 posts
-
That night was an oscar bash also
-
I thought some of the dresses were nice.
-
I did like the splash of color that some had on.
My favorite was the teal green
-
I liked Pink's dress but wouldhave been a little nervous if I had to bend over
-
Are we close to page 46
-
I am on a roll so this is a good thing
-
I have noted one thing with writing. Since my hearing has always been poor.. It is hard to describe some sounds because i do not hear them. I dont hear clocks. I was riting a passage and I wanted to describe it
-
Not quite there yet....
-
Have you written a play or screen play, George?

Well, the broadcast with commercials was three hours, 34 minutes and 22 seconds (according to my DVD burner). I recorded it to my DVD burner as it was showing so I wouldn't have to use up the space on my DVR. I'm now going to cut out the commercials and see how long the actual show was. :)
Without commercials, it's 2 hours, 56 minutes and 11 seconds, for total of only 38 minutes and 11 seconds of commercials! THAT must be some kind of record...fewest commercial time EVER for an Oscar broadcast.
