Well, you've read the notes, the notes said both farewell and welcome, and now it is time for you to post until the farewell and welcome cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ONWARD!
-
Not to mention UPWARD.

Goode morning, all!
-
I slept well, until Annaelle and Thatch decided individuallky thta my bed was theirs, and they pretty much evicted me around 5:15.
-
Several nights ago I watched on Amazon Prime the BBC production of The Nativity, a rather good adaptation of the story of Mary and Joseph, with a few strange plots not found in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. Joseph was plated by Andrew Buchan, an actor I'd liked since he played the lead in a series about an 18th century lawyer, Garrow's Law, and on of the leads in the BBC production of Cranford. So, last night I dragged up Cranford on Amazon Prime and watched the first two episodes. I'll finish it tonight and tomorrow night.
-
I underestimated the time it will take me to repair my iTunes. I' not even a third of the way through the A's. It's endless.
-
Well, I'm not going to be silent about my New Year wishes: I hope to hell the CD of Moonshine & Mistletoe is released and leads to some work, that Annabelle & Thatch is not postponed again, that the ballet finally gets offers of production that will lead to more work or income, that I win the lottery big and repay the generosity of friends who've helped me survive the past five years, and that Tramp has a stroke and dies.

Oh wait, the Notes suggested being silent about our New Year's wish, so I'm editing this post.

Good morning, friends.

-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm shellshocked to think that this is the last day of this bizarre year.
And to think that things are going to get even bizarrer going forward. Yes, that's my new word. Bizarrer.
-
Well, I have a few errands to run this morning, and I'd probably best get them out of the way sooner rather than later. I just figure it's still a zoo out there.
-
I'll be around off and on this evening. We have a zoom par-tay thingy going with a group of friends who used to be the regulars at coming over on New Year's Eve. Two of them live in San Diego now, and the others are scattered about the northeast. It's still a great little gathering.
-
They're re-making Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
-
I wonder if they will retain the Sherman brothers score?
-
They're re-making Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
Do they say who's playing the leads?
-
I suppose I could google, but it fills up more posting space to ask here before googling!
-
I couldn't find any more details, DR Freddie.
-
Just that Amazon MGM is involved.
-
I couldn't find any more details, DR Freddie.
Thanks for checking that!
But when asking and finding no answer can take up six or seven HHW posts, might one not consider that a success in HHW posting terms? :)
-
Good morning, all.

Yes, Singdaw, I deliver. I deliver recipes. It's up to you to make them.

Happy New Year's Eve!

Good morning.

Why remake Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Is there something wrong with the original?
-
Why not remake Paint Your Wagon (which I've never seen, but heard it's way off from the musical)?
-
My plans for today:
1. Deliver a cherry coke to my ill daughter (I know, but it's her comfort food and source of moring caffeine).
2. Go for a long walk.
3. Bitch about the neighbors' fireworks at 9, 10, 11, and midnight.
-
Just a few more hours and we will be in a New Year.
-
Why remake Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Is there something wrong with the original?
When has that ever stopped anyone?
-
Tonight I’ll say “Happy New Year” when I really mean, “In 20 days we fall off into a cliff of despair. Please let the human suffering be minimal.”
-
DR Singdaw I think it is nice that your work gives you the option to leave early, even if you have to take vacation time. I figured you wouldn't take the option.
-
DR Iris your posts about Shen Yun are very sad, yet good to know >:(

And to think that things are going to get even bizarrer going forward. Yes, that's my new word. Bizarrer.
I think it fits.

Today I will finish reading my last book of the year, Lily's Promise: How I Survived Auschwitz and Found the Strength to Live by Lily Ebert & Dov Forman.
I hope our New Year doesn't come close to being this Bizarrer.

Yes, when they’re on sale.
-
Why not remake Paint Your Wagon (which I've never seen, but heard it's way off from the musical)?
They don’t remake failures usually.
-
I finished my 175th book of the year this morning, Han Kang’s Greek Lessons. Kang won the Nobel this year. Her stuff is like the descriptions of 3 Women earlier this week. It’s never what you expect. It always zags when you think it should zig.
-
I found a novel just made for me, Mr. Wilder and Me. It’s about a woman who accidentally befriends Billy Wilder and ends up working on Fedora. Total fact-based fiction.
-
I have made the chocolate chess pie:
-
It was an ordeal. I tried blind baking the pie crust I made last night. The dough stuck to the parchment paper under the pie weights. (I use dried beans.) So I ran out and bought a pie crust. All of the other ingredients were in place.
-
Tonight I’ll say “Happy New Year” when I really mean, “In 20 days we fall off into a cliff of despair. Please let the human suffering be minimal.”
Very well said!

Not only do you read a good number of books, but you also read books I consider slower reads.
-
My total count for the year came to 149 books though many were sorter books making my page count (which I can see on Goodreads) to be less than when I have read fewer books.
-
It was an ordeal. I tried blind baking the pie crust I made last night. The dough stuck to the parchment paper under the pie weights. (I use dried beans.) So I ran out and bought a pie crust. All of the other ingredients were in place.
Oh, oh. I've never had that happen, just a puffy crust which wasn't a big deal. How was your store bought crust?

Hello, everyone.
-
Hi Jeanne!
-
John, your pie looks excellent.
-
I woke up feeling grumpy. Like some others, I’m anticipating a lot of negatives next year. And we’re already seeing some of it. After the 2016 election I thought we’d need to really to put our stress management skills to the test. I no longer feel that’s enough. I now feel that political action is necessary. We need to vote these folks out.
-
I must pay the rent and at least try to get a few things done.
-
TTFN, as I’m off to try to degrumpify.
-
Rodzinski, I quoted your post in the reader comments in the Times. Is it OK for me to try to follow up with a post attributing the quote to you by name? (Or should I just let it be without your name?)

Below is a statement I read on a chat board on the net. (It made me laugh at first, but then I thought: Who's to say where comedy ends and truth begins?)

True, but it will only happen if voters are unhappy with these folks.

If I remember correctly, Jane, not-yet-baked pre-made Pillsbury pie crusts are made with lard. So, make sure you check the ingredients to confirm. :-\
-
Thank you for mentioning that.

Back from the dentist - newly crowned - it's good to have a crown. And for the first time in five YEARS I'll be able to chew on both sides of the mouth.
-
That is, when the Novocain wears off.
-
He only gave me half a dose so it shouldn't be too too long.
-
Went to the mail place and picked up two important envelopes and a little package.
-
Enter page five.
-
Then I went to Gelson's, which was insanely crowded, and got the chicken for the faux chicken stroganoff. I think I'm all set now for the intimate gathering tomorrow at four.
-
Have to decide what today's food will be but I think it will be a couple of hours before this stuff completely wears off.
-
Back from the dentist - newly crowned - it's good to have a crown. And for the first time in five YEARS I'll be able to chew on both sides of the mouth.
First time in five years! That's wonderful!
-
For now, I'll get the new book file open and ready to go for the morning, along with the notes.
-
Good dental news, BK.
-
End of January, I'll set up my cleaning and exam.
-
I think for food I'll do something on the soft side for my first meal with the new crown - maybe some pasta or something like that.
-
I found some pita bread that is lower in carbs than the low-carb bread -- and much less expensive. So I'm looking forward to ham chunks and cheese slices and pita crackers tonight.

Those injections and I do not get along so I avoid them when possible.

Dozed off for about twenty minutes.
-
Food ordered - carbonara - nice and soft and shouldn't be a problem.

I suspect that it will take some getting used to chewing on both sides again.

That is my suspicion.

Frankly, I find my suspicion suspicious.

Not to mention repetitious.

But thankfully, not vicious.
-
Or anything to do with the loaves and the fishes.
-
In any case, I am starving.
-
I have a memory that the carbonara is decent from Maria's Kitchen. I know it's great from Barone's, but they don't use any delivery services, which is a shame.
-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.
-
I once danced the Bony Maronie while eating carbonara at Barone’s.

I dedicate my last post to Singdaw.

New Year’s Eve greetings! This afternoon we watched Michigan defeat Alabama for the second time this year, then we picked up a carry out order from Olive Garden. Half for dinner tonight, the rest tomorrow.

Sending some getting-to-100% vibes!
-
Some of the things I look forward to in 2025:
The Thursday Murder Club movie
The Final Turn (the last of the Ellie McDonnell series that I love—but not that the series is ending)
Maybe actually buying a condo (we shall see)
Expanding my exercise program
Seeing Drat! The Cat!
-
Best of luck on that condo, DR Jeanne!
-
Nice haul, DR George!!
Thanks, Singdaw! I got them with my Christmas gift card. :)
-
I had an early dinner and I expect to have an early night. I’ve felt on the verge of being sick all day, and I do not want to be sick!
Take care of yourself and don't get sick!
-
I almost forgot! Look what arrived yesterday! :D
That's a great haul, George!
I swear I hadn't read this before I offered my own post!
Great minds think alike! ;D
-
DR Ginny, how are you feeling? Any better?
Yes, DR Jeanne, much better. We went out yesterday to eat and do some errands and trying to navigate Kroger demonstrated that I’m still not 100%.
Thanks for asking.
Glad you’re doing better. Please remain cautious. There’s lots of crud out there.

Best of luck on that condo, DR Jeanne!
Thanks, Chas. Some things take a very long time.

Glad to hear BK has been crowned. Must feel great to finally be King.

PAGE NINE DANCE!!

I had an early dinner and I expect to have an early night. I’ve felt on the verge of being sick all day, and I do not want to be sick!
Vibes you are not sick!
Thank you, Jane.
-
Very interesting things DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand.
-
DR Ginny, how are you feeling? Any better?
Yes, DR Jeanne, much better. We went out yesterday to eat and do some errands and trying to navigate Kroger demonstrated that I’m still not 100%.
Thanks for asking.
Are you covering your nose and mouth when you are outside in the cold?
DR Jane, it’s been very spring-like here - almost 60 degrees yesterday. If it’s too cold, I’ll probably just stay in.
-

Very nice, Jane!

I had an early dinner and I expect to have an early night. I’ve felt on the verge of being sick all day, and I do not want to be sick!
Take care of yourself and don't get sick!
Thanks. I’ve been in all day, keeping warm and taking my remedies.
-
Thanks for the vibes, DRs Freddie and Jeanne. Same to you!
-
DR JANE I guess DR RODZINSKI answered your question for me.
-
Thanks for the vibes, DRs Freddie and Jeanne. Same to you!
Thanks.
-
Oh and it's a fashion show.
At least he's ready for the party tonight.....light brown slacks, black sweater, dark brown leather jacket and some nifty dark brown shoes.....
-
DR Jeanne, fingers crossed the Thursday Murder Club movie is as good as the book.
-
We have the same forecast as DR GINNY.....
-
CONDO BUYING VIBES FOR DR JEANNE!
-
CONDO BUYING VIBES FOR DR JEANNE!
Thanks.

That's great and just what you need.
-
Very nice, Jane!
Thanks.
-
DR JANE I guess DR RODZINSKI answered your question for me.
Yes he did-lol
-
DR Jeanne, fingers crossed the Thursday Murder Club movie is as good as the book.
You know that the characters won’t all be portrayed as we imagined them, but hopefully it’ll still be fun.
My fave TMC characters are Elizabeth and the Polish guy.
-
We have the same forecast as DR GINNY.....
Lucky you.
-
DR Jeanne did you read Osman's We Solve Murders?
-
Bogdon?
-
DR Jeanne, fingers crossed the Thursday Murder Club movie is as good as the book.
You know that the characters won’t all be portrayed as we imagined them, but hopefully it’ll still be fun.
My fave TMC characters are Elizabeth and the Polish guy.
I had to look up Bogdan's name. I think Henry Lloyd-Hughes will do a good job playing him.
-
DR Jeanne did you read Osman's We Solve Murders?
I have it here, but I haven’t read it yet. TMC is a hard act to follow.
-
My image of Joyce is different than the actress playing her. In my mind she is softer. We shall see.
-
DR Jeanne did you read Osman's We Solve Murders?
I have it here, but I haven’t read it yet. TMC is a hard act to follow.
True. It is best not to compare them. I still enjoyed it and look forward to the sequel.
-
My image of Joyce is different than the actress playing her. In my mind she is softer. We shall see.
I definitely see Joyce as soft and gentle.
-
Let the partay begin!
-
Glad I am not the only one.
-
I'm ready, willing, and able, not necessarily in the order.
-
A favorite TV series, Darby and Joan, now has a season 2. On Acorn TV.
I do enjoy stories about seniors, which is what this is. Darby is a crotchety old Aussie and a lot of fun. Joan is a retired nurse and a Brit.
-
Actually, that order is pretty accurate.

Jeanne, not this dentist. I can go in anytime. I recommend him highly.
-
In a perfect end to 2024, I had an allergy attack.
-
Took a Claritin-D immediately and it's fine now.
-

-
Bruce, the party is in full swing. Where were you?
-
I decided I needed a sweet treat for the partay - so, it's on its way from Ralph's with a couple of other thing I forgot I needed.
-
Dozing.
-
Jeanne, not this dentist. I can go in anytime. I recommend him highly.
Is he just building his practice?
-
That post took twenty seconds to go through.
-
That one didn't.
-
No, he's had his practice for a very long time.
-
Practice makes perfect.
-
And vice versa.
-
The carbonara was excellent and the perfect thing to eat after my crown thing.
-
But I'm so used to all food going to the right side that that's what happened. But I consciously made sure a few bites went to the left - very weird feeling after five YEARS.
-
I may spend some time looking through the new Broadway Poster Art book - fantastic coffee table affair.
-
Is anyone having libations tonight?
-
Are all balls ready to drop?
-
The Ralph's stuff may not get here till eight.
-
And that's fine.
-
Did everyone go on a break?
-
There's a partay goin' on.
-
I show up and - silence.
-
There should be singing and dancing and the Limbo!
-
The fireworks have begun.
-
And yet, I seem to be doing a monologue.
-
Enter page 12!
-
I enjoyed my ham chunks and cheese slices for dinner.
-
No, he's had his practice for a very long time.
It is interesting he is easy to get appointments, even for cleaning.
-
That's not bad.
-
He's good about that stuff. He has a very loyal clientele and he takes care of them.
-
😀
-
I enjoyed my ham chunks and cheese slices for dinner.
:)

'night
-
We used to do a soup tasting party on New Year's Eve at church. I would always make a cherpumple.
-
They abandoned that party a few years ago.
-
Welcome, 267 GUESTS.
-
Jane is going to bed at six-thirty???
-
I'd like some soup. They had my creamy tomato today but I was too numb to have it at that point.
-
Frankly, it's still is a tiny bit numb.
-
My dentist is great. When my childhood dentist was getting ready to retire, he brought in a young dentist, and they worked together. When he retired, he came into the office for a full six months so he could say goodbye to each of his patients.
-
But what isn't?
-
The young dentist has been there 20 years. So he's known our family that long.
-
I was very over my long-time previous dentist, and especially when my Darling Daughter was very unhappy with the way he dealt with all her teeth pulling.
-
So when we call -- or even stop in -- he sees us as quickly as possible. And we have his cell number in case of an emergency.
-
Don't treat the Darling Daughter well and you're history and that's no mystery.
-
The last item on my Bucket List is to die with my own teeth.
-
My dentist likes that one.
-
I was very over my long-time previous dentist, and especially when my Darling Daughter was very unhappy with the way he dealt with all her teeth pulling.
She had all her teeth pulled?
-
Yes, she was a bad girl and neglected her teeth for years - they were done.
-
Where'd the partay go?
-
Are people doing the Limbo?
-
Eating Fig Newtons?
-
Nutter Butter?
-
Animal Crackers?
-
Flaky Flix?
-
And we don't even use cookies on this site.

Yes, she was a bad girl and neglected her teeth for years - they were done.
Did she choose to get implants or dentures?
-
Scintillating party talk!
-
It's pouring rain over the people in Times Square.
-
Happy 2025 to all! Time to cook our New Year's Eve meal which will be accompanied by some nice Champagne.
-
and a cheesy broccoli & cauliflower side dish thingy from Stew Leonard's.
How I miss that place!
-
The fireworks have begun.
Of course they have.
-
I need to have some work done on my top teeth.
I have a nice partial plate on the bottom.....but I'm not rushing into anything.
-
The gathering of building residents was surprisingly nice.
-
DR Jrand74 is getting new choppers!
-
We ended up at a table with all the residents from our floor. From our end of our floor. It was fun.
-
Normally we wouldn't go. But it was politic.
-
We are considering moving down the hall to a much larger unit.
-
I had to drop something into the trash can on the deck.
I did not realize it had gotten so chilly. I stepped a foot out of the back door and it was like dipping my toes into a cold and wet water puddle.
Then because it's windy, too, I couldn't get the lid back on.....I finally had to turn on a light to get it done.
Whew! Farewell to 2024!
-
Ever since I was little and we read the Weekly Reader and I watched TV news and read Life Magazine and The Saturday Evening Post and The Reader's Digest....I thought we would have to go to war to lose our country to the Russians......
But now it seems that it's being handed over to them free and clear.....
I am not happy and I do not expect any good news for the next year or so....
But other than that - I'm doing fine.
-
Now back to the celebration!
-
The Weekly Reader!
-
DR Jrand74, have you met Helena Handbasket?
-
Will watch Wicked tomorrow.
-
Will watch Wicked tomorrow.
Enjoy it! That sounds like a good way to start the year.
-
Thank you, DR MichaelG!
-
These holidays in the middle of the week are odd.
-
We like long weekends.
-
Soon we will turn the page to a little page I like to call page thirteen.
-
Soon, I promise.
-
Soon, whatever you say.
-
Any moment now.
-
We're on the cusp.
-
PAGE THIRTEEN
-
And no chocolate chess pie in sight.
-
No cheese ball.
-
No popcorn ball.
-
No beef Wellington.
-
No poached salmon.
-
No chicken pot pie.
-
No beef tips.
-
No strawberry mousse.
-
No sardines in oil.
-
What ain't we got?
-
You know damn well!
-
Ah, an Oscar Hammerstein reference.
-
I wonder if Hammerstein played the hammered dulcimer.
-
Whilst hammered.
-
DR Laura - what is the brand name of the low-carb pita?
-
I am watching the Twilight Zone marathon on the SyFy channel.
-
I would look for it.
-
Less than 90 minutes left of this year here in the EST zone.
-
I tried some Old Thyme 647 low carb bread on vacation that was pretty good, but I haven't been able to find it around here.
-
I am working on my calendars so everything is ready to go tomorrow.
-
Everything seems to be in order.
-
I don't think we plan to step outside the apartment door tomorrow at all.
-
We are supposed to be in the deep freeze next week.
-
Something to look forward to.
-
85 minutes left.
-
I was nestled into the couch and snoozed for half an hour.
-
Raining here. I think it's supposed to rain all night. And we've had a nice little thaw but I believe it gets cold again tomorrow.
-
Why. look! It's an old Lang sign!
-
And DR ChasSmith was nestled,
All snug in his couch,
Whilst sleeping through movies;
At that he's no slouch!
-
PAGE FOURTEEN!
-
What we need is a lasagna.
-
I'd even take DR MichaelG's Christmas lasagna.
-
Nobody puts Baby in the corner.
-
And nobody doesn't like Sara Lee.
-
DR Laura - what is the brand name of the low-carb pita?
Joseph's -- flax, oat bran, and whole wheat
-
Or Fibber McGee.
-
Thank you, DR Laura.
-
It was the only one I picked up to look at. I have no idea if it's different than the usual pita bread.
-
We are supposed to be in the deep freeze next week.
Today when I went for my walk, I wore a t-shirt and shorts. And I felt it was warm enough to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes. I didn't see any, though.
-
Dentures.
-
Take a look at all the pitas, Singdaw. Maybe they are all fairly low-carb.
-
For those who remember the question.
-
I dozed off for forty minutes.
-
From tonight's party: Villa Maria. A fine vintage.
-
Ralph's arrived - but no half chocolate pudding cake - guess they sold out of it.
-
I will, DR Laura. And I'd probably eat them all, too.
-
Soon some balls will drop for our East Coasters.
-
Or so I've heard.
-
That's ok, BK. The dessert would be awfully high in carbs.
-
I have a bottle of champagne we didn't open on Election Night.
-
Wasn't for me - for the gathering tomorrow.
-
It had been brought to my attention that 1980 and 2024 are as far apart as 1980 and 1936.
-
I'm going to need a moment.
-
I'll prepare the opening of the new champagne bottle to replace the old champagne bottle around eleven. That's when I'll shower and wash 2024 down the drain and then do the contemplation thing.
-
Clearly, watching a motion picture is out of the question, to the dozing off thing.
-
The Dozing Off Thing - that's the title of my next novel.
-
The story of a narcoleptic with long fingernails.
-
It will be a riveting novel.
-
I feel that page fifteen is waiting in the wings.
-
See?
-
Enter page fifteen.
-
Welcome, 259 GUESTS.
-
.
-
The pages are flying by like gazelles doing The Wah-Watusi.
-
I'm not gonna make it to midnight.
-
Even on the East Coast.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Oh, my. Lightning and thunder. Are the gods not happy about the changing year?
-
It's 2025 out in the Atlantic somewhere, and getting closer by the minute.
-
No one's here.
Hey, I can't go into this next year alone!
-
Forty minutes until a few balls drop.
-
I'm here, baby.
-
And I'm going nowhere.
-
Why did everyone suddenly disappear?
-
Just the ChasSmith and I. Just like the King and I or the Wizard and I.
-
Everyone must be getting their collective balls ready to drop.
-
My collective balls are certainly ready to drop.
-
Even ChasSmith took off.
-
This is a partay, people We need people to have a partay. And people who need people are the luckiest people in the world.
-
George must be off gallivanting somewhere.
-
Eating a burrito, no doubt.
-
Welcome, 308 GUESTS.
-
We need the return of the partay people.
-
That sounds like a Roger Corman movie.
-
Less than thirty minutes.
-
I just turned on WABC-TV. Someone said they were thinking of clearing Times Square due to the lightning.
Ack. Commercials. Of course. But...we'll soon see.
-
Dean Jagger is turning back time by listening to an old radio.
This TZ episode was produced on video tape as some of them were.
-
Three porch lights are on.....and one bedroom light across the street.
Three houses also have their Christmas lights blazing for a last hurrah.
-
We'll be watching the TZ marathon tomorrow, DR Jrand74.
I understand it's running till sometime Thursday this year?
-
It's funny. I've owned the entire set of TZ Blu-rays since they were released, and I treasure them.
And yet I'm willing to indulge in a lazy day once every year vegging in front of the boob tube letting those episodes being served up to me, chopped up and in yucky quality, interrupted with commercials that repeat all day long...and it's just a holiday tradition to sit for that.
-
The first TZ marathons I remember were in L.A., ca-1984. I believe Thanksgiving Day was one of them, and maybe July 4th? Anyone know? I looked all of that up once, must do it again.
-
They might have started before 1984, that's just the year I know I remember seeing them.
-
Less than 20 minutes to go!
-
We'll be breathing 2025 air three hours before it gets to the west coast.
Does that make us the canary?
You're all watching to see if we survive it, right?
-
Well, nobody's clearing out Times Square thus far, that much is apparent.
-
Carrie Underwood.
The only thing that name means to me is that Sound of Music on "live" TV. I don't even recognize her. This is just another face.
-
Fifteen minutes to the East Coast New Year.
-
It's thundering like crazy here.
-
Excitement runs rampant here at haineshisway.com
-
It's palpable.
-
You can feel it.
-
Hello Friends!
-
Vixdad is now ill and has gone to bed
-
It’s 11 minutes until 2025
-
Some guy just shoplifted a calendar tonight near Times Square.
-
He got 12 months.
-
No groaning allowed at HHW.
😊
-
It’s been pouring down rain and thunder and lightning ( very very frightening) for the past couple of hours but it’s just stopped
-
The neighbors are already shooting off fireworks
-
PARTAY!!
🎉 🎶 💃 🍾 🎈
-
DR Ginny, how are you feeling? Any better?
Yes, DR Jeanne, much better. We went out yesterday to eat and do some errands and trying to navigate Kroger demonstrated that I’m still not 100%.
Thanks for asking.
~~~Continued Vibes for Ginny!!~~~
-
I’m looking at Times Dquare and it doesn’t appear to be raining there
-
The elastic band on my New Year's par-tay hat just broke!
But the hat is staying on.
-
LOL DR IRIS.
-
Nonetheless less, you couldn’t pay me enough to be in that crowd
Eight minutes to East Coast New Year.
-
Less than seven minutes here.
-
Get well vibes for Vixdad!
Six minutes.
I have not caught up BTW
BTW - Bruce's Tremendous Winnings
-
Yes DR CHAS SMITH I am watching on SyFy but there is also one on the Heroes & Icons network that I can only watch on live tv....it's not on my Comcast Cable menu.
-
Five minutes.
-
Five minutes.
-
This is exciting.
-
For those on the East Coast.
-
Vixmom, I wouldn’t want to be in that crowd either.
-
We lost some really loved celebrities this year.
-
Four minutes.
-
I had an early dinner and I expect to have an early night. I’ve felt on the verge of being sick all day, and I do not want to be sick!
Vibes you are not sick!
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
Yes I am excited.
-
Well excited and scared!
-
I couldn't be in that crowd - claustrophobic that I am.
-
Three minutes.
-
Balls are ready.
-
Excited AND scared!
-
Jrand, great minds….
-
Two minutes.
-
So close!
-
One minute 40 seconds
-
LOL exactly DR IRIS.
-
One minute.
-
I am watching a Countdown clock on my phone
-
Get ready.
-
Best of luck on that condo, DR Jeanne!
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
Here it comes.
-
Mere seconds away. I just heard the first rifle shot
HAPPY NEW YEAR EAST COASTERS!!!
Happy New Year!!!
Enter page eighteen!
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR......lots of explosions......
-
The partay must continue with the West Coasters for the simple reason that our balls have not dropped.
-
May 2025 bring everyone here at HHW all they need and dream of!
-
Happy New Year!!
-
Happy East Coast New Year!!
-
East Coast says TAKE IT AWAY!
-
Amen, baby, amen.
-
Our balls have officially dropped.
-
Is anyone having libations tonight?
I still have some Bailey's Vanilla Mint Shake, so I'll be partaking of that. :)
-
The fireworks have begun.
It's illegal to set off fireworks within Tumwater city limits, so it's still pretty quiet.
-
Is anyone having libations tonight?
Black cherry seltzer for me..
-
I don't know if there will be public fireworks down in Tumwater Valley until (or unless) they start going off. It's only a couple of miles away, so if they do, I can hear them. ::)
-
We used to do a soup tasting party on New Year's Eve at church. I would always make a cherpumple.
Cool! :)
-
They abandoned that party a few years ago.
Darn. :(
-
May 2025 bring everyone here at HHW all they need and dream of!
Ooh, I like that one!
Is that a prediction or a prayer?
-
Is anyone having libations tonight?
Black cherry seltzer for me..
Sound good.
-
I was very over my long-time previous dentist, and especially when my Darling Daughter was very unhappy with the way he dealt with all her teeth pulling.
Yikes! :o
-
Don't treat the Darling Daughter well and you're history and that's no mystery.
Hopefully, she was taken care of quickly after your long-time previous dentist.
-
The last item on my Bucket List is to die with my own teeth.
:D
-
Nutter Butter?
Yummy!
-
Illegal to set off fireworks here, but that sure isn't stopping people.
-
One of my New Year’s tasks is to come up with new passwords. My info was found on the Dark Web. Changing them is overdue.
-
Many fireworks being set off.
-
Some sound close by.
-
Jeanne uses the dark web?
-
I only use the light web.
-
We are considering moving down the hall to a much larger unit.
That sounds cool! Hopefully, it all works out!
-
I came home to find a group of people setting off fireworks in the middle of my street in front of the house next door.
-
19!
-
Let there be light!
-
We need bright, white light on us all.
-
J.B. and I are not amused.
-
Enter page nineteen.
-
An hour later they're still at it.
-
It sounds like WWIII outside
-
It might very well be, vixmom.
-
Forty minutes or so untill midnight here.
-
Last year at this time we were only on page fourteen and only got to page seventeen.
-
The fireworks have begun.
It's illegal to set off fireworks within Tumwater city limits, so it's still pretty quiet.
It’s illegal to set off or own fireworks in New York state, it’s pretty darn noisy
-
In other words, we're cookin' with gas.
-
Happy New Year, EST dwellers!
-
We've got us a partay, baby, and I, for one, am shaking my bootay.
-
Which is frightening.
-
As you might imagine.
-
The party I went to was fun. The entire pie disappeared.
-
Limbo.
-
THIS partay is fun.
-
Why. look! It's an old Lang sign!
:))
-
No pie, though.
-
I'm still full from the carbonara.
-
No champagne here tonight, I’m drinking hot cocoa with a little drop of chocolate liqueur , and whipped cream
-
I'd even take DR MichaelG's Christmas lasagna.
Just to be clear, it was my brother-in-law's lasagna, a family tradition. I was just a delighted eater. And I knew to sit away from the center of the table so I didn't have to serve it!
-
Two hours and forty minutes to the New Year!
-
I have plenty of pimento cheese log left over, which is good because J.B. and I both like it.
-
Very exciting.
-
My booty is encased in comfy pjs and comfortably resting in the recliner
-
Truly.
Enter page twenty!
-
That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
I am cuddled up under the unbelievably soft throw I was given as a Christmas gift
-
We are cookin' with gas, I tell you.
-
What have people eaten on this New Year's Eve.
-
No fireworks here yet, but there will be. Someone in the ‘hood loves those firecrackers. At 1 am.
-
We need a proper food report.
-
Music listening here today has been some Kenny Wheeler albums I hadn't heard before.
-
What did ChasSmith eat?
-
What did Jeanne eat?
-
What did MichaelG eat?
-
What did Jrand eat?
-
What did Vixmom eat?
-
What did JohnG eat besides pie?
-
What did Singdaw eat?
-
I'm waiting until midnight by watching a strange Czech film called Journey to the Beginning of Time. It's sweet. Four boys who have read too much Jules Verne travel back to a time of woolly mammoths and other great creatures.
-
Jeanne uses the dark web?
Where else would I get all my info?
-
What did George eat.
-
Tonight was pan-broiled steak, baked potato, salad, and gelato, with some nice Champagne. We're happy here.
-
What did JohnG eat besides pie?
Brisket, mac and cheese, cookies
-
How do you even get to the dark web?
-
See? Brisket and mac and cheese and cookies.
-
One down, many to go.
-
And jalapeno cheddar cornbread
-
I had carbonara and a slice of strawberry shortcake.
-
Strawberry shortcake sounds just right
-
Not real strawberry short cake in that there were no strawberries - just a kind of disgusting strawberry paste.
-
That doesn't sound right
-
Strawberry paste forever. A Beatles song.
-
I think page twenty-one is waiting in the wings.
-
See?
-
Enter page twenty-one!
We are cookin' with gas.
This could end up being the highest posting day in quite some time.
We're havin' a partay.
-
Shake them bootays.
-
Drop them balls.
I ha grilled salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, and assorted veggies. This was from the place that used to be
Louise’s. Same owner, I think. He started a place with an exotic menu at very high prices, but that closed.
-
The ghost kitchen sub shop that was so good has now closed. Nobody knew about it. Better and cheaper than Jersey Mike’s. But gone.
-
One of the things I’d like to see in 2025 is more new restaurants. Good food, quality, at fair prices. We lost so many due to Covid.
-
I'd even take DR MichaelG's Christmas lasagna.
Just to be clear, it was my brother-in-law's lasagna, a family tradition. I was just a delighted eater. And I knew to sit away from the center of the table so I didn't have to serve it!
A man with street sense!
-
I’d also like to see more people take climate change seriously and do more about it.
-
Our boys have just encountered the extinct trochodon, which is half duck and half kangaroo
-
Get well vibes to Vixdad.
-
I feel like that sometimes.
-
Our boys have just encountered the extinct trochodon, which is half duck and half kangaroo
That is indeed an interesting image.
-
I feel like that sometimes.
You feel you’re half duck and half kangaroo?
I have eaten both duck and kangaroo, so it sounds like a good meal to me.
-
You quack while you hop?
-
I have ketchupped
-
What does kangaroo taste like?
-
You quack while you hop?
Exactly
-
We had roast chicken stuffing and peas
-
I also made a big pot of our traditional New Years baby franks
-
A man with street sense!
A neighbor and friend of theirs who had recently lost her husband had the center seat reserved for her. She was a real kick and a great sport about it - and she's one of the better servers we've had in years! I had to do it once before I learned.
-
They’re cocktail franks cooked in a sauce of ketchup, steak sauce, brown sugar and vinegar
-
What does kangaroo taste like?
Red meat. It was pretty darn good. And tender. Maybe something close to bison.
-
They’re delicious
-
They’re cocktail franks cooked in a sauce of ketchup, steak sauce, brown sugar and vinegar
What?! No grape jelly?!
-
22!
-
We had a few as appetizers but tomorrow we will veg out and graze on snack foods all day
-
The aforementioned franks, cheese and crackers, nachos, chips and dip
-
Tender from all that hopping.
-
Then on the 2nd we’ll start eating sensibly
-
Well that’s the plan, anyway
-
I prefer grazing myself.
-
Grape jelly?
Tomorrow, Annie. It's only a day away.
-
Grape jelly?
Maybe it's a Texas thing.
-
Ten minutes!
-
I have had kangaroo as well, at least that’s what they claimed at the restaurant where they walk around with meat skewers and slice off a bit for you
Did it put a spring in your step?
So you would add grape jelly to all those other ingredients or replace one of them?
No steak sauce.
And nobody doesn't like Sara Lee.
I used to think that they were saying (singing), "Nobody does it like Sara Lee," which also makes sense.
But your version isn't no double negative. Ain't no?
Ralph's arrived - but no half chocolate pudding cake - guess they sold out of it.
Darn! :-\
-
It had been brought to my attention that 1980 and 2024 are as far apart as 1980 and 1936.
Who'da thunk it??
-
Happy New Year, y'all!
-
Happy new year, CST folks!
-
The street is going gangbusters tonight. So many fireworks, much more than in previous years.
-
You could look up in one direction and see four large fireworks exploding at the same time.
-
23!
-
Don't know why so many celebrations tonight
-
I pity the dogs in the neighborhood
-
There was a dog at the party tonight who adopted me while they were setting off Roman candles. He lay on my feet and wanted to be comforted.
-
Good night, everyone.
-
Wrote most of the notes so they could go up on time.
-
Great food reports.
-
Now I'm hungry.
-
But I shan't do anything about it.
-
Not a thing.
-
Not a single thing.
-
In fifteen minutes, I'll shower, then do my contemplation thing, then back to the partay for the countdown to 2025.
-
Very exciting.
-
Visceral.
-
Back good use a good cracking.
-
Too bad there's not a cracker in sight.
-
Where's a good cracker when you need one?
-
Probably doing the Limbo.
-
Hopefully, people will be back to ring in the West Coast New Year.
-
I'm quite ready.
-
I feel we must get to page twenty-five - after all, it's 2025 at midnight.
-
We're pretty close, though.
-
Pretty sure we can do it.
-
We're not that far from twenty-four.
-
I'm going to need a moment.
As Sondheim said, "Take the Moment... (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8Mguxn1iWBM)
;D
-
What a wonderful group we have here at haineshisway.com
-
The Dozing Off Thing - that's the title of my next novel.
I'd love to read that!
-
George is about to have a pretty good moment.
-
He just had it - better screen shot it for posterity.
-
Congratulations, George. You're starting the new year on a new plateau.
-
24!
George is about to have a pretty good moment.
Thanks for letting me know, BK! I had no idea! :D
Congratulations, George. You're starting the new year on a new plateau.
Learning about the films of Karel Zeman. He had an amazing vision of what film could do.
George must be off gallivanting somewhere.
Just watching completely random YouTube shorts. ::)
-
I'm fading.
-
Happy New Year and good night, all.
-
Eating a burrito, no doubt.
Nope. Tonight was leftover meatballs and spaghetti sauce on toast...yes, we had no spaghetti.
-
Happy New Year and good night, all.
Good night, John.
Congrats to the Central Time Zone HHW-ers......and now on to Mountain Time and then West Coast Time!
The neighborhood fireworks have started here, though we've got 90 minutes to go.
-
I ate one of the Whoppers from my family bundle that I got on Saturday.
I have one Whopper and one cheeseburger left.
All of the fries have gone the way of the dodo bird.
-
Vixdad is now ill and has gone to bed
Oh, no!
Thursday I will make a trip to the grocery getting place.
-
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his impressive millstone.
-
Some guy just shoplifted a calendar tonight near Times Square.
He got 12 months.
:o
-
I just saw Muse Margaret's father Dave Willock on a TZ episode starring Brian Aherne
-
No groaning allowed at HHW.
😊
MUST...NOT...GROAN!!
-
I also just saw one of my top five episodes - The Odyssey of Flight 33.
-
We lost some really loved celebrities this year.
Yup. :(
-
I couldn't be in that crowd - claustrophobic that I am.
I would be more concerned about where the bathrooms are. ::)
;)
-
May 2025 bring everyone here at HHW all they need and dream of!
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~

I remember in the early 70's, I think, Donald O'Conner had a talk show.....one day his guests were Rod Serling and Keefe Brasselle who had written a "novel" about his experience at CBS.
Rod was talking about his appearance in one of his movies - he had a cameo.
Finally he just started laughing and Donald asked him was was funny. Rod said: "We are. Look at us - a writer trying to an actor, an actor trying to be a writer, and a hoofer trying to be a talk show host."
-
What did George eat.
I have actually answered that question. :)
-
On another episode singer Joan Baez was on.....her husband had just been jailed for draft evasion and she was filing bankruptcy.
She sang one song in her inimitable style but would not respond to any questions from Donald.
Finally she just said: "You've got your stupid questions there on those cards, just ask them."
Donald looked at her a few seconds, then set the cards down and said: "Okay, sister, I'll ask you. How does it feel to be up the river?"
-
The ghost kitchen sub shop that was so good has now closed. Nobody knew about it. Better and cheaper than Jersey Mike’s. But gone.
That's too bad.
-
I am drinking some 100% white grape juice with a bit of Bailey's in the glass.
-
On another show Rod got frustrated and said: "You know I really don't need any of this. I married money......my wife has almost $3000 in the bank....."
-
Page 25 in 2025.

Do we have any dear readers in the Mountain Time Zone?
Is that where DR LAURA is?
-
They’re cocktail franks cooked in a sauce of ketchup, steak sauce, brown sugar and vinegar
When I was in college, a friend used to make cocktail franks with a sauce made of one part yellow mustard and two parts seedless currant jelly. It was quite delish!

Wow!

I am fading fast.....so I shall leave you to it!

2024 saw a whopping 44,721,959 page views. That is, without question, a major record - the second biggest page views year was 16,016,648 in 2021. I'd say that soon we will be the most popular site on all the Internet.

Total number of lifetime posts thus far: 1,648,870.
