Mike Douglas....terrible interviewer....but I liked his shows when I was interested in his 5-day co host!

I remember when SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM opened on Broadway, the four stars were brought to the DOuglas show for the entire program, and I thought it was the only show on at the time that would have given two figs for a Broadway revue. Marvelous program that day.

Now, I'm off to do that most horrible of Friday chores - mop the kitchen floor. Then, I'll settle in with more of the Tab Hunter autobiography until I get ready to resume THE BOY FRIEND.

I went to the Arts Commission meeting last night, and gave a nutshell description of my proposal to the committee. Also gave out to all and sundry a detailed "What Penny Has Done for The Redmond Arts Scene since 1987" fact sheet - since almost all the commissioners are new since I came to every meeting to keep things on the straight and narrow... the next meeting - at which a report from the Grants Committee might air, and at which The Commission could vote $$$ for me - won't happen until Sept. 14. Two weeks after the project for which I'd like the $$$ is completed. But I told them I'd accept the funding after the fact...

DVD player - a Harrison Ford/Josh Hartnett buddy-type cop-comedy-thriller, called Hollywood Homicide. Deepak Chopra in the CD player. Man With One Red Shoe in the VCR...

Thank you Penny O.  My Father is really amazing.  Still very good with the one-liners.

Just dropping by to say hello. Need to catch up on the posts. Happy 100th to Tomovoz, Sr.!

It's been a very busy day - and month. DD has been here after returning from Europe. On Sunday she flies back to San Francisco to her new apartment, new job, new graduate school. We had some "health issues" to resolve while she was here -- and I think all's turned out well, after some major ups and downs. A big sigh of relief.
Tomorrow I'm attending a wedding in Marina del Rey to which DD was not invited, as she was supposed to be back in San Fran weeks ago. So tonight is her farewell supper in LA. We're having a Genghis Cohen feast.

I just finished catching up on last night's posts.  Vixmom, my heartfelt sympathy for all of the problems you have been having with the house and with your dear mother.  Of course, if you posted here every day, none of those things would not have happened.

LOL TCB....about Vixmom needing to post every day...

Well Paul and I are going to The Night Listener tonight. It will be interesting to see the difference between our reactions to it. He knows nothing about it and I know the story, how it ends etc.

Does anyone else find SEUSSICAL terribly mundane and lacking in imagination?

Apparently, you like it more than I do.

Tomovoz, I love the photos of your dad's party! He certainly looks good for his age!

You must tell us more about him!

LOL.  I think the secret of my Father's long and happy life is that he did not meet me until I was 47.

Mike - My Dad is single! His second wife (My Mother) visited him yesterday but he did not know her.  Perhaps his interests have changed.

TD, did you get to see Salaam Namaste? I saw the movie during my trip to New York last year and thought it was quite good and it made me a fan of Saif Ali Khan...and the soundtrack is snappy particularly the title song which I kept singing to myself on the flight back to Oregon.
Mbarnum - SALAAM NAMASTE was one of my Netflix rentals (I believe that most of the top fifteen titles in my queue ARE Indian flicks).  One flim leads to another as far as I'm concerned, and Saif is truly adorable, though most of the time I wanted to slug his character!  The title song is indeed catchy, it's been playing in my car since I made the cd.

I've mentioned it before but we saw Seussical and The Lion King within days of each other (New York).
Lion King was such a bore. Cathy Rigby's performance in Seussical was wonderful  Maybe her energy made the show great for us. Kevin Chamberlin's performance was excellent too.

My niece just sent me this photo of my dad with his grandson Chase.  He looks 85, but he isn't showing the ravages of the chemo and cancer yet.  Thank, DR George, for resizing it!

That's certainly about MBarnum's age range!  Was your dad a bodybuilder?

Page Four Buzz Lightyear Dance!!!

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]To infinity and beyond![/move][/color]

When I was on the cruise out in the North Atlantic to the Titanic site, back in 1996; Buzz Aldrin was on the trip with us.  In fact, Buzz piloted the submersible on one of the trips down to the wreck.  During the week we were at sea, Mr Aldrin was seen, quite often, carrying around his own Buzz Lightyear doll.  We were told by a staff member that there were two things you never said to Buzz:
1.)  You never reminded him that he was the 2nd man on the moon.
2.)  You never told him that you didn't know that the Lightyear doll was made in his image.

I saw the national tour of Seussical with Cathy Rigby and Garrett Long (who was in The Spitfire Grill, which I love!) and both were very good!  I actually did enjoy the show, too.

1.)  You never reminded him that he was the 2nd man on the moon.

Buzz's contention, and I suppose rightly so, was that both men were inside the lunar module when it touched down on the surface, therefore they should both be considered the first men on the moon.  He did conceed that Neil was the first man to set foot on the moon's surface.

Yes, I did.  It was truly the greatest experience of my life.  We were there for the attempt to raise a section of the hull to the surface.  Due to converging hurricanes, the piece broke free and went back to the bottom of the Atlantic.  It was raised successfully two years later and is now the centerpiece of the touring exhibit.  In addition, a lot of the artifacts that were previously raised from the wreck were on display for us during the cruise.

I saw the exhibit in St Paul when they blew the whistle (Horn?)  Well, I was there the next day, but it was wonderful to see it. I was really into the history of the Titanic when the movie came out.  Did you get to go down and see it?

Topic of the Day:

In my CD player at work:  nothing...I'm not at work! ;)

In my CD player at home:  nothing...I've been putting things in boxes and then taking them to my storage unit in preparation of my sister selling the house.  She wants to sell it within the next couple of months...sooner, if possible! :o

In my DVD player:  nothing at the moment, but I have three Netflix DVDs that I haven't watched and I've had all three of them for more than a month!  Netflix really is making money from me.

In my VCR:  a tape to tape tonight's "Kyle XY" (I missed it on Monday) and "Psych."

My whole family is going to Applebee's for dinner and I don't know how late we'll be...not as late as 9:00 p.m., when "Kyle XY" starts, but you never know.
