DR JMK - How do you log on to AOL?  If you have DSL, cable modem, T1 line, etc., you can take advantage of the "Bring Your Own Access" plan - just like BK.  -Or do you use standard dial-up regularly or even semi-regularly?

As for the newsgroups problem...  I haven't used a Newsgroup in a while, but when I did, I set up a separate e-mail address on Yahoo, and then set the e-mail filter to only accept mail from the Newsgroup address(es).  Is that an option?

*Yes, spam still got through, but it was very manageable and delete-able.

I friggin' (missing g) HATE AOL!!!!

I was doing an AOL free trial and called to cancel a few minutes ago. You have to talk to someone to cancel. The guy started in on the "all of our wonderful services of AOL" garbage and when I told him I didn't have time just cancel the account he got really rude and told me I was on his dime and no one asked me to take their free trial and if I didn't have time, I'd just have to call back later!!!!!  So I told him, among other things,  I just wanted it cancelled and if he insisted on talking and being rude I was going to set the receiver down and he could talk away because I wasn't going to listen to him anyway.

It was pretty funny. I did set the receiver down and I could hear his voice talking away. Well for a couple seconds, then he hung up. Anyway, I followed it up with a strongly worded email to AOL.

His deal was I'd tell my family and friends about AOLs wonderful services if I just listened to him... HA! I'll tell them about AOLs services all right...

End of rant......knowing how you all love AOL, I just couldn't help myself

On a lighter note, the sun is shining, and it's in the upper 40s so I didn't even wear a coat to work. Lovely day, actually

Welcome back, and recuperative vibes, DR OzDerek.

DR D-i-T: But is your new dentist cute??  How did you fare with all the snow this weekend?  (And can you do me a favor and turn down the heater on that tub of water to your south, so all that lake effect crap doesn't come my way??) :)

Not much else to say today, except that it's very cold.  (This weekend has tossed that old adage about it being too cold to snow right out the window.)

And more snow due tonight here in Philly in the form of "flurry showers", whatever that means.

Just caught up with the posts

I tried to post my snow pictures Sunday (the official total was 22.1 inches, but we have drifts over 5 feet  high) and AOL threw me off.   I wasn't able to get back onlibe all day.  we are still lving withthe stone age technology that is dial- up and I suspect that because of all the snow EVERYONE was online and it just totally clogged the local numbers .

DR Stuart,

I'm still seeing the "old" dentist, who recently turned 80. He's now sporting the corporate outfit of the new "group" - including a top partially zipped down, revealing tufts of grey chest hair. OK - you asked.

The "new" dentist - the one who hopes to inherit the "old" dentist's practice - introduced himself. His name is "Dr. Charlat," and the receptionist was informing callers, "You can see Dr. Charlaton the 29th."

Snowwise, I fared better than poor Archie. I had to clear a path for him when we took our mini-walks.

Was there a big storm somewhere?

Dr Cillaliz,, congrats on the new SUV

please know if I ever go into one of my frequent anti-SUV driver rants I am referring specifically to the local egocentric New York SUV drivers who think they own the whole road&  that 4 wheel drive means you should drive 85 MPH  3 inches behind some sweet innocent Tauree station wagon and its lovely innocent driver, and not to you!!!  ;D

Dear bk

WFO's computer is still not working.  DH was going to run over there with a  disc to try and work some magic but the blizzard got in the way

He sends his regards to all and special vibes to Ann & elmore

On the bright side college is starting back up this week so he'll have his computer at work to play catch up.

Good Afternoon!

...It's been nice reading some of the Appreciations and Tributes to Johnny Carson.  A laugh.  A tear.  Another laugh.

It's amazing how funny some of those Carnac the Magnificent lines were... and still are.  And Zontar Rather.  And Aunt Flabby.

:)

I'll have to watch Leno tonight for his tribute.  Letterman is on vacation right now, so we'll have to wait for his memories and appreciation next week.
