Someone on amazon.co.uk is selling the London "Forum" for £149.99!! :o That's almost $300!!

Some folks don't know the right people (that is, if they want the album and would settle for a CD-R copy).

That's outrageous!

Started out with last night's BONES episode. Very touching story of a bone graft gone bad. A very involving story last night.

Frankie Howerd's name brings to mind the great and somewhat forgotten signer Eddy Howard. I urge you all to pick up an Eddy Howard collection if one is available. Kind of a crooner like Rudy Vallee, but less mannered, a tad more contemporary. "The Rickety Rickshaw Man" was one of his hits.

Next was CSI: NY where Stella was discovered unconscious in her apartment apparently attacked and her boy friend shot dead. A second case involved the death of a driver for rock singer Kid Rock.

The Stella story was excellent.

Then I put in the new deluxe edition of GUYS AND DOLLS. The new anamorphic transfer may not sparkle, but it's clean and sharp, and the color looks good. The tweed suits on Nicely and Benny are rock solid on my display meaning good encoding. I only got about 15 minutes into the film, but I'm satisfied on the trade-up from the previous non-anamorphic edition.

I can't believe how beautiful it is outside right now. After a miserably rainy and cold morning, it's beautiful out right now with blue skies, a nice breeze, plenty of sun without being too warm.

I have the sheet music to Rickety-Rickshaw man.  Didn't Eddy Howard also do a version of Easy Come, Easy Go?

Thursday afternoon greetings from Cleveland, OH!  I've been on the road since I left work Monday and was only able to peek in on the posts once Tuesday (at Bexley, OH, Public Library, where chat rooms are forbidden) and once Wednesday (at the Columbus, OH, Apple Store, where I had to pretend to be interested in buying an iBook).  Actually, that pretending wasn't too difficult, because DH Richard and I have decided that we're going to have to have something portable for traveling.  Anyway, I'm here in Cleveland now at my favorite Hampton Inn which has a very nice business center for guest use and lots of great shopping nearby.

Sitting here slogging away line by bloody line.  Will be going to the editing room, probably between five and six.  Tammy thanks everyone for the excellent vibes and xylophones.  Procedure was fine - results won't be known for a week or so.

One of my Plateau resolutions had been to make it to 2,000 posts before the Plateau Partay, but I guess that's not going to happen.  :(

My seminars in Columbus Tuesday and Wednesday were very worthwhile, but my hotel (a Hampton Inn) was in a pretty crummy part of town.  I stayed in both evenings, which I didn't mind, because I got to see part 1 of the HBO Elizabeth I and the PBS South Pacific.  Tonight, I'll see Part 2 of Elizabeth I.  I thought I'd just have to wait for the DVD, since we don't have HBO at home.

I'll be going out soon to find some dinner and will try to check back in during the chat!

I don't have any particular "favorite" memories of this site. I'd never posted on a site before I posted on this one (bk suggested that I post and I resisted - couldn't see the point. But he can be persistent.) I like the people here and have made many friends all over the world through HHW. As I spend most of my days alone, writing, with imaginary folks (real to me) running around in my head, it's a great feeling to know that with one keystroke I can usually find some friends with whom I'm pretty comfortable to either talk with or simply watch. That's why I returned after my long absence. Even though I kept in touch with many of my HHW friends outside the site, I missed the 24/7 feeling of friendly souls a keystroke away -- the idea that I wasn't alone at my desk. (And yet I am - which is the best of both worlds. Because if there were actual flesh and blood people in the room while I was writing, it would drive me crazy. ...And if Mr. Kimmel were present, he'd add, "Not a long drive." So, as my good deed for the day, I'll do it for him.)

Yes, I have Eddy doing "To Each His Own," I think on one of those sets of 78s. The kind that came in booklet of records, an actual record "album."

I associate that tune with the Ink Spots mostly.

Well, remember MRBK, that we all write line by line.....

And as Mr Irving Thalberg complained to his writers:  What is this writing business anyway?  It's not that difficult.  It's just putting one work after the other.

And Mr Charles MacArthur said:  Excuse me, Irving.  But it's putting one RIGHT word after the other.
